16" is commonly either 205 or 215. 205 consider small already. Unless u want M3 to come with 15" wheels... Haha.

Anyone considering to replace their M3 spring to Eibach pro-kit or something similar?

Hope some bros here could share their views.

I am also wondering how much decrease in term of comfort would one get after the change.

Personally i find that with stock suspension and tires, i find that M3 is bumpy as compared to my previous few car. Again, this gives M3 better road handling and when doing corners.

If change aftermarket spring, i wonder will it even be more bumpy! Btw, warranty confirm gone right?

Damn careless today. Park head in and forgot to check left side of the car. There is a pillar with metal guard causing a dent and scratches at my left passenger door.

Got my car for only 6 months. Will Trans Eurokar help to mend the debt and scratches? Anyone with experience on the cost or should I fix it outside?

    Thanks.

Bro i so agree with you. When i collected my ride, the surface is so dry till my finger tip can't slide across due to the driction and dryness. Also the line marks of the protective sticker when the ride was shipped over from Japan can be seen.

Luckily i send to have the ride coated ASAP.

I used the xm2 in my previous ride. They are very lasting ... Michellin market it as a tyre of low rolling resistance, meaning fuel savings. Green earth tyre I suppose...

Forgotten where is it made in, maybe made in japan....i think the place of manufacturing is quite crucial for me lol!

Haha... So I'm not the only one.

SE also told me got wax and polish. But the feel is different especially how water run on it. Seriously, i doubt its wax or polish.

Maybe they use Wash and Wax car wash... Like that can?... Hahaa

... They "polish" until got fine hairline at the black plastic portion of my door area. My car grooming detailer with sharp eyes for detail pointed out to me....
Scare liao.... The coming servicing , i will ask them NOT to wash my car after servicing... If have complementary car wash....

Finally got my rims changed! 18" for the win. Surprisingly quiet than my stock 16". Best part of the deal is that i think i got the cheapest package in the market..

i sourced and ask for quotations from Autokinetics, stamford tyres, AL tyres and lastly Li hong auto..

    18" with tyres..

Autokinetics.. Michelin PS3 sport with 18" vossen rims at $1500 after trade in.. (offered me tyres that was produced in 2014.. thinking i am carrot head.. die die dont want to sell me bridgestone RE003 despite me telling the shop that i not keen on michelin :(..)

Stamford Tyres.. Bridgestone RE003 with 18" vossen rims at $1700 after trade in.. (funny siah. how come bridgestone re003 more expensive than Michelin PS3??)

AL Tyres.. Bridgestone RE003 with 18" vossen rims at $1600 after trade in.. (No stocks, need to wait end dec)

Li hong Auto.. Dunlop Formula D05 with 18" vossen rims at less than $1400.. (ready stocks... plus free alignment)

At first never heard of Dunlop tyres.. do a last min check online and realise that the tyres are made in malaysia.. maybe because of this reason, the tyres are cheaper than Michelin and Bridgestone.

    P_20151207_133913.jpg

After changing the rims and tyres.. i am a much happier man without burning a big hole in my wallet.. Next up.. Brake calipers spray.. Stay Tuned!

i got the intention to change bbk after 1 year so now just change before CFO stop me from doing it. Was looking for original vossen rims but to my horror, Vossen original rims only comes in 19" onwards. No wonder the replicas are selling like hot cakes in the market. Beware if you are getting these rims.. i was told that there are china and taiwan versions.. taiwan version are lighter and tougher.. not sure whether is it the truth.. but then i got the taiwan version at china prices.. so praying hard that it will last me till i sold off the car..

I have put in an order and it should arrive and be installed by the end of December. Eibach springs or in fact any lowering springs will make your ride stiffer. You will feel it going over bumps and uneven roads. My previous 2 cars were all lowered, so I am used to it. I just can't live with stock looking big wheel gap :p

    Yeah, man. I feel ya.

I had wanted to send my car for grooming, but decided to wait until end of January or February when it doesn't rain as frequent as this month.

i beg to diff.. i found the brakes not as responsive as my old korean ride. Not sure is it due to the stainless steel brake hoses that i installed previously or the new brake pads had not completely run in. Will monitor the situation or better still change bbk when the right time comes..

Had anyone upgrade to aftermarket alarm system? I am finding the default car system a sore.. No auto lock door function.. it is amazing to find out that safety is not mazda priority. the only con that i find in this mazda 3..

Do you know anyone that has made BBK specifically for our car? There was a guy in the US who fitted Brembo BBK for Mazda 6 in his Mazda 3. It was a perfect fit and no modification was needed.

    Hi Guys,

My windscreen wipers doesn't wipe cleanly after more than 1 yr of usage... Planning to get a new wiper replacement.

Looked at the user manual for guide on how to change the wipers.

It shows the steps to change just the rubber instead of the entire blade.

So do we change just rubber or the whole blade for 2014 Mazda 3 ?

    I think I can help.

I have changed wiper rubber many times on my old Toyota cos I bought cheap crappy ones. (That's besides the point)

Anywho.. If you have no time and are willing to spend just change the blades, it takes 1 min only. Very simple and easy. To change the rubber is cheaper as you can get cheap refills for $0.60 only. But you need to thread the wire through the hole and cut off the excess.

Best of all, they come in a variety of colors! Ain't that great?

i changed the rims on the 2nd day i gotten my car.. mileage is around 100+.. trade in value range from 300 to 400 depends on the rims and tyres that you are getting (all these depends if your tyres are new or under 300km mileage)

My car is 1.5l deluxe sedan.. i nv consider fuel consumption when i am upgrading to 18".. but well it all depends on how you drive.. i had achieved 5.7l per 100 km yesterday on 80% highway and 20% urban.. so it really depends on the driving conditions..

my old ride is on 17".. when i am considering whether should i get 17" or 18" last week.. everyone i ask for opinions tell me to get 17" instead because it has better fuel consumption but those who go for looks commented that from 16" to 17".. appearance doesnt justify the change.. so i go with my heart not the brains.. i upgrade to 18".. and till now i never regret it..

Even my groomer tells me the car looks great with stock rims but now with the 18" upgrade.. it looks even more sexy than before..

Yes bro, you are right!! i want the auto lock function when i am driving off.. not when i walk away from my car.. in fact, i turn that function off.. i felt more secured by manually locking the car by pushing that tiny button on the car handle.

Looking at Steelmate 838II 1 way car alarm now.. seems like an alarm upgrade package where i can still use my existing remote but it comes with the functions i need.. price is not expensive too..

Yap, not auto lock when driving off... asked AD during servicing if they have auto-lock module to install, but they say don't have....I would tot it's just a module that they can indent from Mazda Japan since this option is described in the car manual book, no?

    Thanks,

i was told that the stock rims weigh 9kg+ each.. if you are getting 17" rims.. it will be good if you can find those below 7kg per rim.. but it will cost a bomb unless you managed to source out the cheapest deal in the market.. for 18" rims.. it will be good to find below 9kg per rim or slightly same as your stock rims weight.. like that it is easier to compare your fuel consumption..

If only there is a workshop in SG that have a software to overwrite some function parameters like the conti rides. My previous ride i can set to autolock at what speed.

Stay Tuned!

I'm using the same rims as you but my tyres very noisy. I'm using 215/45/R18 Goodyear eager F1A2. Is replica vossen rims right?

Can i say that if i get 18" and less weight than stock... Beside the slighty bigger contact point between tyre & road (e.g. Using 225 tyre, meaning 2cm more?) and a bit bumpy ride... Overall fuel comsumption, stress on the wheel shaft n linkage etc... Should remain the same?

Oh. Also the pick up should be same too? I guess the additonal 205 to 215 or 225 width should not be that bad right? Just 1-2cm lol!

I believe Privacy means auto lock when you walk away from your car instead of auto lock when you start driving off. Sad to say there's no Auto lock feature when driving off in mazda 3.

Hmm thus have to manual lock it or there's a mechanism whereby the moment one depress the foot brake, the car would be locked?

i got the intention to change bbk after 1 year so now just change before CFO stop me from doing it.

Will the system have any impact on the car batt? The batt system is delicate enough as it is when it comes to dash cams. Or there is no tapping of the batt unless the alarm goes off?

On a somewhat related issue, just did my 1k svc. I made it clear to the SE that my dash cams draw power ONLY from the ext batt pack - I don't even set a low batt protection option. After they were done, he assured me that my car batt's health is still at 100%. So it looks like external batt packs are the way to go with dual dash cams. FYI to folks out there looking to install dash cams.

From my limited knowledge of car alarm system.. the more atas the car alarm system is.. the more power it draws from the car battery.. e.g like 2 way remote start, push start and keyless system.. reason is because these system needs to be run constantly just like the dashcam that runs 24 hours.

But if your car alarm is only a simple type, just a siren to sound off potential car hackers and central lock system features when your car is running.. it only draws power from the car battery when the siren is activated. But to say that.. how many times will your car alarm sound off in your entire car ownership?

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks for the info.

But why do you need the alarm? If you got o Malaysia often, and fear of getting it stolen, a brake pedal lock or a gear level lock, would do a good job. Besides, they would rather steal a Malaysian Mazda 3 which comes with a 2.0 litre engine.

It is because of break-ins, then do a double quick press on the key fob to lock. It will prevent the door from being opened even from the inside. This means if the thief breaks the window, he would have to squeeze through it to get inside, and squeeze out the same way. Rather risky for him.

If it is because of hit and run while parked, then a good camera running on external battery pack would be better.

However, if it is for a lady driver, at night, in a drake car park, the car alarm can be a good deterrent to anyone with ill intentions.

I've done away with the car alarm, for my three previous rides, since immobilisers are installed. But I do use a brake lock when in Malaysia.

But if I'm driving a Honda ( or an MPV / SUV )........... I may install such an alarm. Still, no 100% assurance as the car thieves are very skilled. They know how to overcome the anti-theft devices.

Your power pack will also need to get supply from somewhere. If installer cut wires, Mazda will have 101 reasons to void warranty if a claim arises. The same goes for alarm.

i wanted a car alarm because i want the autolock features...meaning when i drive off .. the car doors will be automatically locked. Plus it comes with a siren to sound off any potential jealous pple who wanna scratch the car or come too close to the car.

I am too used to my old trusty forte where i had installed a 2 way SPY alarm which comes with autolock, and remote start functions.. i feel more secured with a car alarm... knowing that if anything happens to my car in my sheltered carpark.. i will be heard.

i dont really care much about warranty. I mod my kia forte 2 days after i got my car. It had served me well for 6.5 years and i had been to the service centre more than once to solve electronics issue. And not once did C&C void my warranty or charge me for any servicing charges..

If installing a car alarm voids warranty... installing a ICE system, add subwoofer and amp will also void the car warranty as the cutting of wires are intensive..

I see. That autolock feature will come in handy when driving in Malaysia. It means the snatch thief would not be able to open the door and snatch something from the passenger or what's on the seat. Preferably of course lady's handbag be placed on the car floor and not on the seat nor held by the lady passenger.

I drive in Malaysia with my doors all locked manually with the lock switch driver side. Usually it is at the traffic lights that the snatch theft occur.

But locked doors alone do not prevent that. The thief uses spark plug to break the window.

Just asking, if coming too close alone can trigger the alarm, would lightning trigger it too? What about our very narrow parking spaces?

You can set the sensitivity of the alarm.. From low to super, depends on your needs.. Last time when I used SPY alarm.. Whenever a evo or wrx or those super loud exhaust cars passed by my car.. The alarm will trigger.. And of course when siren is triggered, it eats your battery power..

Now I will tell the installer to set to low mode but if car tiok shake or moved.. Alarm will go off

I see. I gave up on the alarm because of the false triggers too. Can reallybe annoying. Thanks for the info.

Actually I've experienced my car being stolen. Fortunately it was a 2nd hand Malaysian registered car, quite some time back, the facelifted Proton Saga. Happened in Port Dickson.

In Malaysia I prefer driving Malaysian registered car. But this Mazda 3, despite a smaller cc engine is nice to drive. Very spirited and of course very economical on the fuel. I bought the standard because I am the only driver and I do get annoyed when electrical devices failed. ( why I was actually glad the Proton got stolen ! lol ).

I do miss the foglights though. So getting them installed at JDM once the stock arrives soon. It's out of stock at the moment.

BTW, they have just launched the Mazda CX3 in Malaysia. It's 2.0. Here it would be 1.5 to compete with the Vezel. It costs about SGD$44k. There the Vezel is named HRV.

Installing ICE will void warranty. Same as alarm and after market dash cam. This is verified with the SA's of Ubi.

i dont really care much about warranty. I mod my kia forte 2 days after i got my car. It had served me well for 6.5 years and i had been to the service centre more than once to solve electronics issue. And not once did C&C void my warranty or charge me for any servicing charges..

LED scuff plate should not void as it basically works like the auto cabin lights - on only when the door is open. Mazda didn't mention anything about it when I sent for 1k servicing. Voiding warranty should come with common sense on their part.

i tell you why install LED scuff plate voids warranty.. first, answer me how to install LED scuff plate? Where does the power to light up the LED scuff plate comes from? You need to tap on wires right? Any wires that need to be tap on.. u need to cut right? then if cut the wire or accidentally cut wrong wires due to kuku installer.. trigger other car electronics.. then you cannot drive your car properly.. who is at fault? If nothing goes wrong.. good for you.. if something goes wrong.. will mazda take responsible of your mod?

No offences here.. just sharing about how fragile car owners are when it comes to modding. Having said that.. void warranty only means the electronics.. not the whole car.. if they going to void my engine warranty because i install a car alarm.. then it will be the joke of the century!

Shouldn't that then be based on the installation done - if the installer messes up the installation then of course Mazda will not cover - but if the electronics fail a year later can they still blame the scuff plate? Again, as someone had mentioned earlier, if they want to void your warranty they can always find some excuse to do it - it would depend on how well we present our own case.

I do appreciate your advice though - will be especially cautious when installing electronic items such as ICE. Thanks

i met lots of kuku installers in my lifetime of modding.. i recalled one incident that i add an aftermarket headlamp with DRL.. the installer cut the wrong wire and trigger ESP light to light up on my dashboard. It didnt happen immediately after my headlamp installation.. so i nv suspect anything from this kuku installer.. then when the ESP light up issue appear when i am driving at night because i on the headlamp.. i went to service ctr because ESP light up on dashboard is something you dont want to joke abt.. then the car was in AD workshop for 2 days..

After checking and tracing where the problem lies.. the AD concluded that the ESP light sensor wire got modified by the headlamp wiring.. and they wanna charge me 2k to replace the wires and get everything back to normal.. i was like WTH.. end up i called up the installer who do the wiring to settle with the AD ... the lucky part is that the installer was sub contractor to the AD.. so end up i dont need to pay a single cent.. after this experience.. i restrict myself to mod anything unless it is useful.

Agreed. I also know of a Swift owner who installed a Simota closed pod air filter. After that the engine check light was on permanently.

Once you fixed the foggies.. Warranty spoilt.. Even install led scuff plates also warranty void.. Lol.. If scare warranty void.. Drive stock car.. Lol

    Hehehehehhehe

Well they can try to do that, but I'll kick up such a ruckus that they will concede.

Firstly, if I'mnot wrong, all the wiring are already there for the foglights. If you look under the front seats of the standard model, you will see the wiring for the electronic controlled seats. Just the devices are missing.

Secondly, they have to prove that the installation causes the fault. Thus if you install a car cam, and the problem is the suspension, it makes no sense to invalidate the warranty.

Even if you change the wheel size, it should not void the warranty, if it concerns the suspension. Cars are not built to be so fragile.

Of course wear and tear is another matter. Not covered by warranty in the first place.

As for the battery, if you connect the camera to function 24/7 to the battery and it drained the battery, there is still leeway to contest it. Is there such a warning in the manual?

We as the clients in this forum can support one another on such matter as eventually we are the ones affected. I would definitely donate to the crowd funding for anyone here wanting to pursuesuch matter in court.

Eurokar will be concerned of the bad publicity. So the damage control will kick in on their part, as it would certainly cost much less for them.

I remember the Chinese car Chery's warranty. It was clearly stated that the warranty covers only the engine, and not even the radiator! lol.

Your alarm installer is wise. He wants to consult the agent first on the wiring. So the onus is on the agent.

Anyway, the only times I had to use the warranty were on my Ford Focus ( power window motor broke ) and the first Toyota Altis model from Thailand ( the front drive shaft bearings needed replacement ). My Mazda 323, Mazda 3 SP, never need to. That's why my trust in Mazda.

You are right. Usually agents would not be so fussy, if they can solve the problem easily. They know car owners now cannot be bullied. Besides all the extra costs have been factored into the price! lol.

The problem with cutting of the power supply wire is more to do with how the joints are protected from water and dampness. The ordinary electrical tape is not enough as it will unwind after some time. Of course avoid the floods especially during these periods of intense rain.

When will it become an issue? If the car catches fire.

    Hi! Littledemon,

Congrats on securing your COE! With regards to your question, I had changed both stock speakers located at the front doors and added a micro sub under the driver's seat. Rainbow Speakers with Tweeters and Pioneer Micro Sub.

During the installation process, I noticed that the Mazda 3 (deluxe) came with a small amplifier installed. The micro sub had its power tapped directly from the battery.

Overall, it cost me $800++ for material and labor. Very satisfied with the improved audio quality and the installer's workmanship. Workshop is located in Toa Payoh Industrial Estate.

    Cheers!

What engine oil does it use?

Mazda's own brand which is thinner.

These days, many car manufacturers are doing this. Cars using CVT ( Continuous Variable Transmission ) like Nissan Sylphy, uses its own too, because the engine oil is sprayed onto the transmission belt, unlike the planetary transmission where the gears are `bathe' in the engine oil.

I think for Mazda, while using planetary transmission, uses the special engine oil to enhance the power as well as fuel consumption.

    Try http://www.mazdas247...il-Requirements

What engine oil does it use?

As long as it is 0W-20 it is ok to use according to car manual... It is not a special type of EO but just that it is not so commonly used. Usually car will use xW-30.
