Oh dear... That's a bummer
Hmm...the current mazda 3 already has Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS) for its bi-xenon hid headlights leh...

The mz3 AFS is much less impressive... that's a very basic kind of advanced lighting system as compared to the LED adaptive system.

wha... that's really very bad! If ppl open door hard and wide hit the side already heart pain... I also kenna ppl reverse into my old car b4. Caused the number plate to be bent and gap appeared between bumper and fender. These kind of incidents really make me want to install 24/7 parking camera so that can lodge police & insurance report to bill them the full repair/replacement cost... But then worried about voiding of warranty and might shorten the lifespan of the expensive Q85 battery we are using...

Thats what the vid shows...
What i like about some advanced led headlight designs (designs dependent) is that they can selectively deem the highbeam portion to reduce glare if got car directly infront...but if is adaptive led, in term of adaptive swirl is all the same...

Yes. That's what I meant. But Mz3 AFS I don't think it will sense the speed. Only steering direction. What I like is also the ALH video above which can dim out areas to reduce glare to others and light up other areas according to environment and driving status.

Not all led systems can do that...e.g. Altis is led headlights, but dont think they are adaptive.... And those with adaptive led headlights, dont think they are selective dimming... except the highest end models currently...
Coming home light & leaving home light, how does it work again? And how to activate?

"Adaptive" is a flexible term at the moment, personally I would only call it "adaptive", or "fully adaptive", if it incorporates both steering-angle, speed sensitivity and condition-based patterning, such as in Hyundai i40's AFLS, or Mercedes Intelligent Light System, or my own Dynamic LED lights.
But for some marketing depts, if they have swiveling by steering function, can be called adaptive liao. Note that Mazda3's is only called "AFS", they are only bi-xenon headlamps with directional angling.

Altis headlamps are regular LED mainbeam with halogen highbeam... they are just like normal projection headlamps, but using LED as the source. They have no special functions beyond auto-levelling, but even then I honestly think the levelling system must be rubbish (same for Mitsu Outlander!!!), because everytime an Altis drives behind me, I get flashes when they go over the smallest bump in the road!!!!!
You are sort of correct, adaptive headlamps are still mostly reserved for top spec models. When looking at Mercedes Benz, I was quite disappointed that almost all their lower models do not come with Intelligent Light System - only bi-xenon auto-levelled projectors. Must indent for ILS.
Since LED headlamps consist of multiple diodes they can perform selective dimming which allows the beam to 'cut out' portions to avoid glare, whereas xenon HID cannot because they use a main bulb to provide all of the light. It is typically the case that if a car is equipped with adaptive LED headlamps, they should feature selective dimming as well - it is the best way to take advantage of the technology.
However not all LED headlamps are adaptive, such as Peugeot 308/308SW/508/508SW or the aforemention Altis and Mitsu Outlander, or Nissan Qashqai. Those do not have any special functions.

Yup, Mz3's AFS is purely angling only. But that is a very nice feature in this price and class regardless.
The new adaptive LED headlamps are really what I call "fully adaptive"... they change based on speed and exterior conditions. Seems similar to what mine can do, including selective dimming. Also adjust the beam pattern to be longer or wider to suit the driving conditions.

Pull on the headlamp stalk, as if to flash, while headlamps are in auto mode and engine is shut down after driving. The headlamps should remain on for maybe 30 seconds, or however long you have set it to in MZDConnect.

I think their cars turn on headlamps when you unlock via remote, ya. I'm not driving a VW but mine is a conti, I haven't thought of trying to unlock it remotely to see if it auto-activates leaving home lights... usually just open it via keyless access
passed by Ubi just now and saw them unloading the latest shipment of M3s... there was a unit in electric blue, a colour i've never seen on the brochure before. the other units seem to come with new rims too, with designs closer to that on the M2. anyone has any idea of these?

Is this the batch that got stuck in customs (re Fantastic_Duck) because of the discrepancy in OMV, probably due to the new-look rims and new colors?

that one i honestly not sure. I wasn't clear on what coming home lights were till a few months ago too.

But my understanding is that "coming home lights" refer to using the headlights to light your way home. This is doesn't really do much for us in Singapore but in other countries, where they park on their own home's driveway and nose-in, it allows them to light up the footpath after they leave their car.
The home in "coming home" refers to the house, not the car.

If you are talking about high rev after engine start, it's normal. Once the rev noise become lower and RPM below 1000, you can drive off your car.

Is it recommended to wait for a while until RPM drops to 1k & below before engaging D? I noticed once I engage D RPM will drop to below 1K. And as usual during that moment while D is engaged at high RPM, there will be a slight but gentle jerk.
Its not a cranking sound but engine cold sound. If its cranking sound that last for 10-20s, you better go back to trans eurokars to have it checked.

The high revving (jet engine sound..:p) at the beginning is to warm up thecatalytic converter so that emissions comply to regulations. You can drive off without waiting as your driving will also warm it up.

As some bros mentioned, you can prolong the life of the engine if you don't rev hard before the engine is warmed up. Wait till the blue light on instrument cluster goes off then rev to your hearts content..

If its noisy due to high rev then itd fine.
If your case is cranking sound, then something is wrong. And furthermore, can't imagine for 10-20 secs engine still cranking after its started. U need to send to workshop to check.

I miss these features from my previous car.. I have a habit of locking my doors once I enter the car.. our M3's side mirrors will fold since engine is not started..
Sometimes we take things out of our ride and the mirror unfolds then when we walk away with doors closed the mirrors fold back. Rather annoying.

I disabled the 'walk away' auto door lock. very irritating since it doesn't allow you to set a time delay for it. even walking to boot to get something the car will treat it as your are out of range and auto lock the doors. at petrol station same thing happen. got ppl inside, window wind down the car still lock the doors.

but its a useful feature if it can auto lock the car like 1 or 2 mins after you left so that you won't 'forget' to lock your doors after you parked your car.

BTW what is the 30s/60s/90s setting for auto relock timing? I don't really understand this function.

The auto relock function should be the auto lock for the timing selected even though you are beside the car.

Thanks to all the bros here for replying my question. Sorry, i must have got it wrong... should be engine cold sound rather than cranking sound... hehe.

You guys also answered my other question about the blue indicator... at first i wanted to wait for the indicator light to go off first before i move off but realised it's taking too long (need to rush in the morning, you see). Now I know..... thank you so much for all your sharing!

The "walk-away" auto lock indeed quite annoying. After I place my kid in his car seat and closed the door (left side).... before I could walk to my driver's seat, locked liao. But I think i won't disable for now first... cos still trying to get used to the keyless entry thing.... i'm worried that I may forget to lock doors and walk away one day.

Hi all, Thinking of getting the LED signal light but do M3 has load resistor? Lol!
Maybe also the fog light.... Hand itchy lol!
Definition: Load Resistors may be required on some Make/Models to offset blown bulb warning, hyper flashing, no flashing. Each car varies as some cars rely heavily on electronics signals (ie. European cars).

passed by Ubi just now and saw them unloading the latest shipment of M3s... there was a unit in electric blue, a colour i've never seen on the brochure before. the other units seem to come with new rims too, with designs closer to that on the M2. anyone has any idea of these?

Was the electric blue a Mazda 3 or Mazda2?
Just to compare driving styles:

Do you all rev off the line (2000+ to 3000rpm from the traffic light) then ease off once the speed has picked up (<2000rpm)? or do you go easy from the traffic light onwards? (<2000rpm) all the way.

I'm trying to figure out the most fuel efficient way to drive the Mazda 3. I drive at about 60% city and 40% highway (not expressway, more like viaducts). I get about 12-12.5km/l

Fitment is not nice...too big!

I get to the crusing speed of 90-100km as fast as i can. Instead of dragging through every gear.

trial and error and you will know your own..
I saw my car all done up already, production month is october as stated on the piece of paper. Standard cars LCD, leather seats all locally fitted which takes 7 days. Deluxe cars all items fitted in Japan (not a single part done locally, as assured by my SE) so customers can collect almost immediately. Can see my baby but cannot drive.
On a side note: I was told that black leather interior cars have a lot of stock but sand white not many maybe due to its popularity. My SE said , "if you are urgent I can give u black interior you want?" I said "no, i still prefer white. On my old Toyota I had black seats, it's not nice to look at although I lived with it for ten years". To which he replied, "I think white also nicer cos the broucher also features white leather seats" Well, all in all he is a good SE although such unforeseen circumstance happened, he got me a replacement car and some petrol vouchers which I am grateful.

I tried to maintain <2000rpm but really very slow... i worry the car behind get impatient. So, I always end up reving off at around 2500-3000 rpm... My FC so far not fantastic cos i drive 95% city and short distances.

What's the average FC you guys get? Want to know so that I can tell some "over-concerned" people who like to comment "You bought a Mazda???? Drink petrol right?????". it's quite annoying. It doesn't help when I dun have good statistics to show them. I can only safely say it's comparable to, if not better than my previous Honda Stream

I always envy all Bro/sis here who can hit 12-14/kmh. My avg is 11.5 , which is always the same value every month, and I'm always on the rush in the morning. Within 1.5 hrs I must race from bedok to katong to novena and to Changi every morning. This car is like a work horse.. But save more fuel than my previous ride, a 2nd gen Toyota Vios..
Eurokars Mazda is really doing very well. The newly renovated showroom is very nice, packed with cars now. The old basement showroom before renovation is now filled with cars back to back parked 5 to 10cm from each other. The top multi storey carpark also all filled with cars. I have never seen so many mazdas in one place, it seems they are almost as popular as Toyota but maybe by a mile.

Bro, my old car used to have light beige colour. It gives the cabin a more luxury and rommier feel.
But practically, its hard to maintain. It will turn dark after some time.
Not say no good for white interior, but to maintain is not easy.

Don't envy bro... Its the route and driving style.
If your route a lot of start stop, who drives also will get the same FC.

three digit not nice meh?
After resisting for 2 months, changed to Blu Alpha horn. So much better sounding.
I cannot stand the original horn that came with the car.

what's wrong with the horn?
what's wrong with the horn?
Too soft & too mild for my liking. Horns must be loud. It sounded like a gentle damsel with a squeaky voice saying "excuse me" instead of a burly man with a deep voice say "Excuse Me".

Horn quite soft...
