No idea about the weight, but I have a feeling heavier than stock. OZ is lighter than the BBS we chose. But we went for looks, obviously lol. So I can't answer any of your questions, pai seh

Care to PM me how much u pay for 17" rims + RE003...thk in advance.

Alexa525 got poisoned! Finally settled on our rims, hubby agreed to the change too. Decision made in less than 30 mins! Bought from Hurry Tyre, boss very friendly and patient in explaining to us about rims and cost and availability of every rim we asked about [:p] Settled on 17" BBS (it was either BBS or OZ racing, but hubby preferred the BBS rims design more) with Bridgestone RE003 because we like the Potenza tyres, very stable and cut through water very well. And we can change our rims after collecting our car this Wednesday afternoon [bounce2]

BBS is heavier than OZ, by about 1kg per rim. BBS also more ex than OZ. Being the calculativeme, I wanted to go for OZ for savingsbut hubby preferred BBS design so we selected BBS.

If i tend to keep the stock 16" rims but only change the tire problary to RE003 and for sure there is error on speedometer as below.

Correct me if I'm wrong as ir will affect only the FC calculation due to speedometer error? anything else right??

    Stock tire: 205/60/R16 speedometer: 100 km/hr

    RE003 tire: 205/55/R16 speedometer: 97 km/hr

     205/50/R16 speedometer: 94km/hr

     205/45/R16 speedometer: 91 km/hr

Actually, it depends on what you want from the tyres. If you want quiet tyres then you shouldn't go for the Potenza series as they're the "sports" version. The quieter tyres are the Turanza series, http://www.bridgesto...duct_gr100.html. This series will have the tyre profile for Mazda 3 stock rims. But they don't cut through water as well due to the grooves (learnt from hubby over the weekend). Safety was a priority for us so we compromise on noise and FC.

    Thk for ur recommendation.

Turanza tyres developed with luxury touring, focussed on improving ride comfort without sacrificing handling. Enjoy a quieter, more comfortable and safer drive, in wet or dry conditions.

I have CPC 5 or CEC 5 in mind compare with Turanza GR-100

CPC 5 is for mid-sized and executive class vehicles with perfect grip and optimal handling in every driving situation, short braking distances on dry and wet surfaces and comfortable driving and improved rolling resistance

CEC 5 is for mid-sized and compact class vehicles with optimised rolling resistance for reduced fuel consumption, high braking safety and short braking distances on wet roads and best handling on wet and dry roads

Haiz, which one to choose huh??

Actually, I saw a few OZ rims which I like on their website but the shop didn't carry them. I don't mind BBS, never heard of this brand till recently, sounds cool also heh heh

Actually, if you're undecided, go for one first, don't like then change 2 years later. For us, we just happen to change to Turanza G80 many years back and hubby remembered it was good. So he requested for Turanza after he almost skidded with our Vios. Then 2-3 yrs later, time to change tyres and no stock for Turanza but have stock for potenza RE11 so he took and we love the grip and stability so you can say we have been their fans since Turanza. So it's really a personal choice and also through experience to find the right tyres.

Indeed not easy to match. What about black? Can go with red but will be less obvious I guess?

    Hey bro,

you probably need to ask yourself what are u intending to experience when u change your tyres, lower road noise? or excellent grip on wet and dry surface. RE003 is good , GR100 also good .. but both are for diff purposes.. i prefer a quieter ride so i chose gr100.. i dont need the car to stop almost immediately when i step on the brakes cos i drive slow.. the breaking distance is shorter by half as compared to the stock toyo tyres.. so i guess yeah.. i like it.. good luck on choosing the best tyre to suit your driving needs

Not too sure, but I'm sure they can give you an estimate since they are one of the Authorised dealers for Bridgestone. Ultimately, it depends on your driving style and the type of roads you travel.

Price wise, the RRP for GR 100 is higher than RE003, you can do a quick check of their website to get this info. Different dealers sell tyres at different prices so you should call them up and check and compare the prices, that'll be better.

Regarding which tyres to use, as I've mentioned before, it depends on your driving style and preference. No tyre is perfect so think through what you want then decide. IMHO, the more you ask, the more confused you'll be :)

If just that I'm stuck between 100 & 003 as each type has it good points, so hard to choose which is suitable for my need.

IMHO, life is short, don't spend too much brain cells on this. Get one for majority of your needs, within your means. May need to compromise but that's life :) You have other more important matters to look into :) friendly advice, hope you don't mind :)

this is a good advice. Now cfm opt for 003 but they only have 205/55/16...so have to go for it with 3% different on speedometer.

No doubt original by Mazda will be better.
    The aftermarket is acceptable...

Time will tell the MIC is good or not.

3% difference seems alot to me. I read that acceptable range is up to 3%?

I not sure whether 3% is acceptable but i asking ppl ard not really a big issue just inaccurate speedometer reading.

    Stock tyre: 205/60/16

    RE003: 205/55/16

Speedometer Error Table for Different Speeds

    Speedo reading km/h or mph: 50 60 80 100 120 140 160 180 200

    Actual speed km/h or mph: 48 58 78 97 116 136 155 174 194

I'm not sure is aftermarket better cause i have not seen the original map for benchmarking. But so far so good. Gps log on is fast, and the maps are updated (i checked with the shop that installed for Mazda).

There are some buttons below the disc player that controls the player like off button, navi button, volume control knob, radio etc.

    I got the following:

1, 8" lcd player with gps and reverse camera.
    2, BP front camera.
    3, Rikecool Tinting.
    4, 1.888k discount.

I paid 98k for the new car (i bought in July when the standard model was selling at 99,888k), with the best trade in price compared to other places like Kia, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

Wow bro, you got a very good deal! Your $1888 discount is it part of any special promo?

Share a bit since we are on this topic, I asked my SE for camera and he said "you go outside install aftermarket camera better specs"

Not sure if it's true or a ruse. He shared how one lady driver bought a car and insisted on getting the camera freebie so he gave it to her as the only freebie. He also said solar film is a given, if you don't ask also they will also automatically give. He gave me $2000 discount instead and advice me to use it to install camera and keep the savings.

Mine is deluxe so less things to ask for. I read somewhere that they can ask for extra mats but I don't want to appear desperate.

The 1,888 is not part of promo. I told him either round it up to 98k or call off the deal. I'm not desperate buyer as my Altis serves me well and with 2.75yrs more to go...

Anyway i collected my car 3 mths later, so my Altis also depreciated by 3 mths to 2.5 yrs... Haha

If not wrong, they have respraying facility at ubi.

They used to send the older M3 versions to Bluewell.

But the Sould Red is not a simple paint match spraying. It consists of several layers of various paints, developed by Mazda paint masters.

If any paint shop can do it here, it will surely corner that market. I'm sure many 2nd hand cars of other makes would like that colour too. In fact I've seen a Hyundai, I think which had an almost simliar colour, but not as good as the Soul Red.

You can install other camera/GPS/devices as long as it is powered up by the cig socket and not tapped directly to the fuse box. They should not have any reason to void your warranty.

Yap, if install outside using cig port then no issue.. otherwise can get install from AD directly.

Their BP 2.0 is <$300, Philips ADR600 is $300+ and their 2-channel Papago is about $600....

I've personally used Advan dB before on my Stream. Yes, initially very quiet but once you cross the 15k mileage, noise starts setting in and threadwear rate is high. Grip not as good as the BluEarth-A I'm using now.

Hahaha, yes, wait till neck like giraffe's already. Wow, your rims are good! And congrats on getting matching colour lip for your boot! Nice!

Congrats. Looking good... Can feel any difference after the change to new rims/tyres?

Honestly, can't tell much diff because hubby drove stock tyres and rims to Hurry from Ubi. Then I took over the wheel after tyres and rims were changed, so we are unable to compare heh heh

    Very nice

    Thanks bro

Congrats!!! My Fav colour and variant! Didn't take up HB and soul red cos don't feel like paying more for HB and colour clashes with 8char according to FS master. heh

The colour was what we needed, so we went for it hee hee

Nice choice of color! Nice rims too! Too bad I couldn't make myself wait for soul red haha.

We decided to wait 1 month just for this colour, else I'd keep regretting when I see a soul red on the road hee hee

Sorry I mean it's useless where you install the cam. As long as not their in-house brand not not installed by them they will threaten with voiding warranty.

Ok, officially owner of Mazda 3! Here're pictures of our ride with rims changed immediately after leaving Ubi showroom heh heh

    Nice!

What tyre profile u using? The gap between the fender and tyre look wide or far apart... Or is it because of the photo angle?

Hi all, I'm a newbie when it comes to rims.

Was wondering if our M3 can take rims with the following dimensions: 225/60/18?

What's the 'max' for the M3 when it comes to rims and tyres?

    Thanks folks!

If i didn't remember wrongly, BP cam installed by them. So its ok.

Just give your Sales and the shop a call... U can save at least $100.

The same 8" lcd was installed by the same shop, they selling ard 1.3k, but if u go Mazda u need to pay 1.8k! Its the same shop that do the installation for Mazda for the aftermarket lcd.

Just a rough guess for the BP cam... Else Mazda earn what?

The 8" lcd is already a good example!
The same shop that install for Mazda only selling ard 1.3k with centre control knob. But Mazda will sell u 1.8k without centre control knob.

"Agent" sell things where got cheaper than outside... Hard to come by if they install cheaper.

Minimum 95. 98 won't make your car faster or better fuel economical.

Anyone knows what are the cons to getting an open Cat Coe vs a Cat B ?

Open Cat actually higher than Cat B by $1k now.

No diff... Same same. Cat E can be use for all vehicles.

The effect will only kick in when u scraped your car. For example when u buy your car and the bidding result is as per below,
    Cat E is 60k
    Cat A is 50k
When u scrap your car on the 5th year, u get back 25k instead of 30k. Basically Cat E is tag to Cat A (if u buy a Cat A car) or Cat B (if u buy a Cat B car), Cat C (...) ... Etc, whichever is lower.

Another point i not sure is i heard Cat E cannot sell within 6 months.

So imo doesn't make any diff now (since E is higher than A) unless your SE ask u to top up which will be unfair to u.
