2014 Mazda 3 part 70

Correct me if i'm wrong but the difference between the 2.0 and 1.5dlx are the obvious higher power (significantly more), the factory fitted piano black mazdaspeed bodykit, paddle shifters (nice) and the larger stock wheels at 18"?

You are correct. Plus twin exhaust pipes. I don't know whether the list is conclusive.

Twin exhaust are the same. They protrude for the hatch but are hidden for the sedan (dunno about 2.0 sedan tho).

Tmr I will be gg for my 1k servicing (but mileage read as 16xxkm)and may I know how long it take? I opt for 9am timeslot.

I notice many bros/sis have added theheat shield and may I know what is the purpose of heat shield? Prevent heat from engine to bonnet? or noise reduction?

How much will it cost and any chance to get it fromalexander area?

I did mine at 8am too. Took about one and a half hours but may differ depending on situation (number of people there etc). I stayed at the workshop waiting area. Bring something to do - there's free wifi. They have newspapers and a beverage machine (Leng Kee branch - I think Ubi would be better equipped as it's a new building).

Bonnet heat shield is meant to reduce the heat emanating from the engine bay to the bonnet so that your bonnet doesn't feel so hot to the touch after driving. Mazda doesn't install and if they did, I think it would come at a premium price. Folks here bought from about $90 . you can go through the threads - should be from pages 400+.

If you meant Alexandra accessories shop - I wouldn't know but it wouldn't hurt to go check. The one discussed on the forums is an actual Mazda 3 piece - manufactured to fit.

Not a member, so can't see the picture how he DIYed.

But only saved 24km for travelling 10,000km... And then need to change a new batt that costs $300. Worth meh.

Har... 24km. Maybe $3-4 dollars petrol savings...
I hope the battery can last at least 2 yrs or more.

Btw the battery needs to top up, is it the general diluted acid battery water sold at the petrol stations?
i have been using the maintainance free type all these while.

Looks like this discussion is to kill the i-stop hahahahahaha!!!

Can i say that the E-loop n the i-stop works hand in hand?
E-loop supply powder when engine cut off by i-stop
If i-stop disabled, then the E-loop is redunance as the engine is always running and supplying powder?

I love this bikini babe, always get me thinking day n night HAHAHAHAHA!!!

    Where to get this?

Super cool to the max!! The same white led change to orange.. During signaling.
Question again, on a bright day afternoon... i attempt to switch to the small light by manually turning the knob (not the headlight or DRL)... Still under bright day afternoon, but notice no light leh. Is it the light sensor over ride my switch?

How i know is because i was behind a bus and see the reflection during traffic light. Want to show off abit la to wifey about the "ring" like bmw ring light kekekeee...

The istop function is pretty good for SG driving I feel, just need to get some adjustments in driving style. It is very useful when you are waiting in a long queue, or driving towards a junction with the red light just about to come along. If caught in a traffic jam during peak hour, I would probably just turn off the istop using the button on the right.

    Hi bros n sis,

Is the stock tyre really so bad? Currently is Bridgestone RE33...
Looking thru google n didn't get much but.. A few but very negative comments about this tyre...

Why i ask is because feedback from my rear passengers that the tyre noise is noisy...
Hmmmm.... Really so jia lat meh?

Michellin Primacy 3, bridgestone gr100, yoko advance DB?

If u think stock is noisier, wait till u sit in mine. Mine is even noisier... Using Goodyear eagle F1. Grip is excellent I must say, even in rainy December wet roads it's very grippy but drawback is the car sounds like an aeroplane taking off when on AYE and CTE....

No problem for me using iStop.
But think abt the $300 batt to be replaced in 2-3 yrs time i wonder how much savings i can have as compare to those start stop wears and fuel saved.

    Not worth at all!

I saved 10 trees, 600km after clocking 20,000km... So, saving is abt 3%...or 1 full tank of petrol...

I supposed saving 10 trees is more important.... :D

I'm using but glad was free!

If considering the features between the deluxe original and aftermarket, then its not worth. They are world apart in terms of features. For example, you cannot see the FC or doing other car related settings.

But if to upgrade your existing standard version (that means without LCD) then you can consider. How much quoted to you? I think should be $1300?

Anyway, GPS not bad,,, its updated and logon to GPS is fast.

Out of 1000 good comments, there must be a few bad comments to balance out. A man's meat might be someone poison. I rather everyone say new mazda 3 no good or the whole range is no good then i have a shorter waiting time for servicing and less mazda cars on the road..

Quite a eyesore.. i drove every 5 km.. i will spot at least 5 soul reds and a couple of other colours mazda 3.. no wonder 1k servicing can only be done in mid JAN 2016..

Hi. Can you explain what do you mean by free servicing?

when i buy the new car .. i got free servicing up to 60k.. meaning apart from free 3 servicings (1k, 5k & 10k) which is standard.. i got (20k, 40k & 60k) servicings extra free from my SE. For this, if your SE never gave you as freebies when you buy your car.. you will never get it free.

dunno is it a good thing.. free servicing.. hahaha, servicing in mazda is so expensive.. i also dunno what is free servicing.. maybe servicing the car is free.. extra changes like air filter or replace suspensions at 60k servicing is chargable.

when i buy the new car .. i got free servicing up to 60k.. meaning apart from free 3 servicings (1k, 5k & 10k) which is standard.. i got (20k, 40k & 60k) servicings extra free from my SE.

40k is definitely a major servicing which cost $600 onwards. 20k and 60k are intermediate servicing costing about $400ish. So i would say you got a good deal

If u think stock is noisier, wait till u sit in mine. Mine is even noisier... Using Goodyear eagle F1. Grip is excellent I must say, even in rainy December wet roads it's very grippy but drawback is the car sounds like an aeroplane taking off when on AYE and CTE....

same for my Dunlop Sportmaxx RT, it sound the same as ur when the road is bad.

I maybe KS ... Already thinking which tyre to change after this stock toyo tyre....

According to the tyre calculator, 225/55R16 fit well too. I not changing the rims ...

    Any recommendation ? PS3, CSC5 or hanook ?

i oso want to know. A 225/55/16 can fit on stock rims (i suppose the tyre is 205/60/16)??

Heads up everybody. I called Ubi service center the whole day hoping to fix a 10k servicing appointment & managed to speak to someone only after 5pm.

Earliest date is 13 Jan 2016 9:30am, but decided to go for 14 Jan 8am instead.

I think they are overwhelmed with capacity issues. So, remember to book early.

I bought during car expo with 3 yr free servicing (60k)..
But SE remove away the 3 yr servicing (left 1k, 5k n 10k servicing) to minus off 1k from the price.
Didnt notice it until i go bk n check the invoice.
Ask SE when collecting car he said cheaper to setvice outside..bro here hv any comment on this? I believe saving $1k for 20,30,40,50 n 60k servicing not worth it right?

well, my SE used to tell me, service outside ok....but must do major service ,i.e 40k, 80k...etc in AD

For me after trying both (when outside was authorised agent), i'm more inclined to service by AD due to the level of details they do in the servicing that i can feel all the nuts tightened and the car still feel firm, which outside lacks due to "cheaper" as they skips these.

should be like this bah.. i also never check my agreement form.. but thinking of the long wait.. i abit sian to go back servicing..

Yesterday i told my CFO that i wanna skip 1k servicing and go for 5k instead.. CFO says i crazy.. later mazda void car warranty.. i told her nvm... i think i am really crazy.. hahaha

I called to book my 1k inspection and got earliest date 4 January. I called almost 2 weeks ago.

I told the person that I was going up to KL over the Christmas holidays. She said no issue cos 1k is only inspection.

I haven't gone for my trip and it's already 1.2k. It will be more than 2k by the time I go for my inspection.

I bought online from www.dx.com for 31mm festoon in Dec 2014 when they are on 40% offer $3.80 for 2 pcs pack. It uses one of the latest LED chips 5630 (one of the brightest). But now its only 13% offer $5.63 for the 2pcs pack.. ha ha

Need to get those with aluminum heat sink type to ensure that the LED life span is not affected by overheating.

Thanks dude! I ordered 4 of these to replace my interior bulbs. Only gonna skip the vanity light bulbs cos I don't want that to be too bright.

Found this on another website which disable the speed limiter. So that you or your passenger can press the touch screen. Disclaimer : Try at your own risk.
    What you will need:
    Wifirouterwith Admin access
    Computer orAndroid tablet
A terminal program or app (I used JuicySSH on a2013nexus7)

    1. Using your computer or tablet access the settings in your router by going to 192.168.1.1
    2. Find your logs
    3. If disabled, then enable and save.
    4. Access your DHCP logs
    5. Start your car.
    6. Access your router with your car in settings/devices/wifi
    7. Check your DHCP log to find your cars IP (it should be something like 192.168.1.XXX)
    8. Go to your terminal program or app
    9. Start a new connection to your car's IP
    10. Username is: root
    11. Password is: jci
    12. Connect to your car. You should see /tmp/root #
    13. Type in: /jci/scripts/set_lvds_speed_restriction_config.sh disable
    14. If done correctly it should say that it is disabled.
    15. Type in: /jci/scripts/set_speed_restriction_config.sh disable
    16. If done correctly it should say that it is disabled.
    17. Turn your car off.
    18. Exit out of the app or program.

From now on you (or your passenger) should have full access to your touchscreen, navigation, texts and settings whiledrivingicon1.png.
For those of you who can't park close enough to your router in order to connect to your home WiFi, you can accomplish the connection using a laptop, and a smartphone that can create a WiFi hotspot. In my case, I used myMacbookwith terminal application (to open the SSH session), and my iPhone to create the WiFi hotspot.

Step by step for opening an SSH session to your car:
    - enable your smartphone WiFi hotspot
    - connect both the car and laptop to the WiFi hotspot
    - open a terminal application
    - get the laptop's WiFi IP address - if you're using a bash terminal, run this command at the prompt:

    Code:
    ipconfig getifaddr en0 2> /dev/null

    - using your laptop's IP you should be able to quickly determine your car's IP. Connected to my iPhone's WiFi hotspot, my laptop was assigned 172.20.10.3. I quickly determined that my car was assigned 172.20.10.4
    - open an SSH session to your car

    Code:
    ssh root

    - enter password: jci

    Disabling speed limitation

With the SSH session open, you can simply run these two commands at the prompt:

    Code:
    /jci/scripts/set_lvds_speed_restriction_config.sh disable
    /jci/scripts/set_speed_restriction_config.sh disable

Copy, paste, and run each line separately.

Dramatically reduce thedisplaytimeof the disclaimer screen

This is based on firmware version v29. Before running the following commands, verify that the file being modified (systemApp.js) is located in the folderINDICATEDarrow-10x10.pngin the commands.

    Code:
    mount -o rw,remount /
    chmod 755 /jci/gui/apps/system/js/systemApp.js
    sed -i 's/this._disclaimerTime.remaining = 10000/this._disclaimerTime.remaining = 100/g' /jci/gui/apps/system/js/systemApp.js

Copy, paste, and run each line separately.

You will not likely see any difference in the disclaimerdisplaytimeuntil the system undergoes a full reboot. The car must be off for at least several minutes, maybe a few hours. It's not clear to me how long one must wait for this to occur.

Attempt the above at your own risk.

My SE was not bad too. Not young chio bu lah, but 15 years older than me haha. Still, gave me quite a bit of freebies. I thought it was good, until I hear other people on this forum getting a lot more stuff. Still, don't want to complain too much. She kept me updated, did all the paperwork for me. I only needed to sign dotted lines and write cheques.

Also, I ordered on 1st Nov, I got the car on 28th Nov. Could have been 10 days earlier even but I wasn't in town.

But like you, I'm surprised to find pattern SE from AD.

I was also offered $1k for 60K/3yr servicing... but didnt take it up in the end.. cos I think my mileage over 3 yrs likely not hit 60K... so end up will costs about the same minus paying upfront 3yrs in advance... and also I suspect the free service package is not the same as the full service package from AD workshop...
But for those who drive high mileage, its shd be worth it.

Last time when buying he based the price on 2 bid guaranteed (1k higher than 6 bid non guaranteed) but wrote 6 bid non guaranteed on invoice..

i insist him to write 2 bid guaranteed but he say for all 2 bid guaranteed they will write 6 bid non guaranteed but will bid higher..but according to fellow forumer here those dat bought 2 bid guaranteed hv the 2 bid guaranteed written on invoice..

In the end i did got my coe on 1st bid hence i nvr persue further..just that i didnt feel comfortable with all these pattern he chut..

Of cos stuffs like free extra floor mat etc he promised at 1st i didnt get in the end also..those r small things i dun mind not getting..can easily get elsewhere

So many patterns... So many twist n turns....

wah.. your SE so many pattern.. heng my SE is a young chio bu.. no many patterns but lots of freebies.. hahaha, i never sign at car expo with mazda.. i sign with volkswagon instead but managed to cancel order due to a special condition in contract..

Always remember before you sign any contract.. all agreed terms must be in black and white.. everybody can talk big but not many can fulfil their promises.. i remember clearly to get my SE to state when can i get the new mazda.. she says early dec cos i booked the last soul red for nov shipment. After that, she called me say delivery date will delay cos too many cars to prepare for handover.. then i remind her about the contract stated early dec.. so she LL delayed one day of collection.. if never stated in contract.. i think till now havent get my new mazda 3..

I think the trick of getting good service and no question asked freebies is to stay calm in your purchase.. when i went to ubi to test drive on a Wednesday afternoon.. no customers.. so i can ask lots of questions and test drive all i want.. then when i was told that there are only one soul red deluxe left for booking for nov shipment.. i never panic and sign on the dotted line.. instead i ask them for the trade in value of my old car.. then SE do the sums and gave me a good overtrade price that i cannot resist. Then to add on to the sweet deal, throw in all the freebies that my chio SE can give.. finally sign on dotted line.

But thinking of this.. i am still glad to get a good SE cos for all things she promised, i gotten it on the day of collection and she was actually on leave that day and she came back to settle the handover.. everything was done swee swee.. and the whole purchase of new car only took 3 weeks. Booked on Nov 11 and gotten car on Dec 2.. 2 bids guaranteed..

Me also everything goes well but u got bonus can miggle with chio chio... Mine is a guy :( boring Zzzz zzzz

    Huge

Huge , I have already done that i.e. modified my mzdconnect software. In fact I have helped a bro here do it too. Now can drive and use touch screen. So far tested for 2 weeks of daily driving no problems. Mine is very simple, plug in USB can already. Plug and play. After the code goes in u can remove the USB.

If i do get back a Mz3 or 6, i'll come look for you. ;)

I maybe KS ... Already thinking which tyre to change after this stock toyo tyre....

According to the tyre calculator,225/55R16fit well too. I not changing the rims ...

    Any recommendation ? PS3, CSC5 or hanook ?

Hi, I know the original tyres are 205/60 R16

How do you find the handling?

Do you intend to change to 205/45 R16?

I found some deals for Achilles on MCF market place at 90 bucks per piece.

Can you do a review if you change to aspect ratio from 60 to45. This is supposed to help with the dryhandling for normal asphalt.

In case you are not aware, changing to much lower profile w/o increasing rim size to keep the same ratio will 1. Have cause a bigger tyre/wheel arch gap, 2. mess up instrument readings eg speed, fc etc...

Sure no problem. I can pass you the USB drive when we meet. Easy to do.
I am not sure about the mirror folding.

Bro, that is considered "rooting" or "jailbreaking" the MZD connect? Will it cause problem if there is a system firmware update or map update ah?

More interested if we can do auto lock car door when drive off. I read in the manual that it can be configured on the mazda 6. They are using the same MZD connect system anyway.

    stock:205/60/r16 speedo read: 100km

    new: 225/50/r17 speedo read: 101km

    same speedo read (100km against 100km): 245/45/r17

but I not sure what is the maxwidth of the tire that can be fit on Mazda 3

Keep the stock tyres if you don't intend to upsize. They are reasonably good and quiet tyres.

the handling is very good for stock tires and profile. why u wanna downgrade yr tires to Achilles brand is beyond my comprehension. howeverbyr money yr call. u happi can liao.

ya. It is about the balance.a compromise we have to accept if you want to improve your handling. The instrument reading might be affected, but by how much, no one knows. The wheel arch is not a problem because functionally it doesn't matter unless aesthetics is a matter of concern.

Not too sure if Achilles is a downgrade.
