2014 Mazda 3 part 68

In the first place, u need to know what u r buying. When u start checking out M3, I'm sure u have already 99% made up your mind and the rest 1% is to buy from who whom will be able to give u the best deal.

I got quite a decent deal buying the standard version:
    $1.8k less from retail price.
Free 8"LCD Display with GPS and Rear Reverse Camera.
    Free Front Camera.
Free RikeCool Tint (some say is included)
Highest trade in value for my old car vs other AD i approached.

    PM me if keen.

I think the freebies items are quite standard (forgive the pun). With my dlx, I got rikecool, car mat (not 3m but seems decent so far - nice feel to it - but can't compare to 3m), front cam (blaupunkt - Mazda only gives Blaupunkt or Philips - I'm assuming this from the posters I see in the servicing workshop), dlx comes with the 7" original infotainment system with gps and reverse cam so can't compare this.

What you should probably want to ask for (which they CAN give from the various comments here by other bros and sis - depends on whether they WANT to give) are probably extension of free servicing up to 20k(?), petrol vouchers (though I think this is more of a compensation for late delivery and so on) and higher trade in for your car (though I would say be weary of the service by Porsche Preowned), and if you're getting soul red colour, ask to waive the $500.

$1.8k discount plus the 8" lcd with gps and reverse cam considered as standard freebies?

Haha... I got nothing to say then.

The 1.8k is not standard. But the 8", GPS and reverse probably are as my SE also offered those to me before I decided on the DLX. I think the 1.8k is a very attractive extra. [thumbsup]

    Hi guys,

I've just purchased a new car from eurokars and it's supposed to be ready estimated 22nd to 24th Dec 2015.

The problem here is I feel that the salesperson is trying to feed me a pack of bull as to other incidents earlier.
She says that she wants to register my car today (16 Dec 2015) as well as apply the insurance.
She says something about 2 working days to process and set up the car plate.

It doesn't seem to make sense to me that I've to pay 1 week of insurance and start the car COE without even being able to collect the car.

May I know if this is normal?

    Thanks!

went back to the tyre shop and do the swapping of left & right wheel and now it seem like moving to the right (probably uneven road).
But nevertheless, for the piece of mind I have make an appt with Kenny Wheel Alignment...

Possible One of your tyres is defective? Since it now pulls to the other direction after swapping.

I agree with your thoughts. we get to use 520 weeks, one week or more than one week is gone even before taking delivery. waiting is not a problem. but COE and insurance starts from the day of registration. Small money compared to vehicle cost. But why is the question difficult to answer. I understand that sales people are helpless in this. I collected my previous Japanese car on the same day of registration, that was 10 years ago. Now the same company is also telling that they need 2 to 3 days after registration and before handover. My friend collected his German car in the same day of registration, recently. I called few companies and this duration varies company to company.

Anyway, you have chosen a good car.

For you guys who intend to get this heat shield, you can call Fong Tat... they have ready stock (in Kallang Way warehouse). I was quoted only $70. Unbelievably cheap... But it doesn't come with the clip... I asked and they say each clip only cost like $1+... so in total should be less than $90. Will update again once I bought it... they said will need to transfer over to Race course road then call me to collect.

And like you I was really tempted to upsize to 18in but decided to settle with 17.

Your guy are much better than me as I only can settle 17' Mazda original rim cos my CO didn't approve to change rims.

So left with no choice as only option is 17" or 18" Madza rims but luckily the tyre shop take in mine 16" at S$ 500 (mileage is 1400km).

And only pay for Dunlop SportMaxx RT (so far go the grip and braking distance is good) but the FC is hanging around average of 7.0L/100km (so far no regret).

Finally got my rims changed! 18" for the win. Surprisingly quiet than my stock 16". Best part of the deal is that i think i got the cheapest package in the market..

i sourced and ask for quotations from Autokinetics, stamford tyres, AL tyres and lastly Li hong auto..

    18" with tyres..

Autokinetics.. Michelin PS3 sport with 18" vossen rims at $1500 after trade in.. (offered me tyres that was produced in 2014.. thinking i am carrot head.. die die dont want to sell me bridgestone RE003 despite me telling the shop that i not keen on michelin :(..)

Stamford Tyres.. Bridgestone RE003 with 18" vossen rims at $1700 after trade in.. (funny siah. how come bridgestone re003 more expensive than Michelin PS3??)

AL Tyres.. Bridgestone RE003 with 18" vossen rims at $1600 after trade in.. (No stocks, need to wait end dec)

Li hong Auto.. Dunlop Formula D05 with 18" vossen rims at less than $1400.. (ready stocks... plus free alignment)

At first never heard of Dunlop tyres.. do a last min check online and realise that the tyres are made in malaysia.. maybe because of this reason, the tyres are cheaper than Michelin and Bridgestone.

    P_20151207_133913.jpg

After changing the rims and tyres.. i am a much happier man without burning a big hole in my wallet.. Next up.. Brake calipers spray.. Stay Tuned!

You can try Li Hong Auto if not far from you.. Free wheel alignment with any rims and tyres purchased from them.. quite worth it if you ask me especially some tyres shops only do wheel balancing..

    10k is almost 277..

the difference is only 1 aircon filter (which cost 20bucks) -_-''

amazingly expensive for changing oil & filter only!

FYI just now when I collected my item, uncle told me got 1 guy also booked and collecting tomorrow. Only 1 or 2 more pieces remaining! Those who are interested better fast hand fast leg call to book yours! :P

Total cost for shield + 10 plugs is $90.95 (with GST). Need to install yourself but its very ez.

Will update again once I bought it... they said will need to transfer over to Race course road then call me to collect.

traded in my stock rims for $600, the new 17" with Mich PS3 tyres cost $1,030 after trade in... could have gotten it cheaper at AL, but no fancied design.

Ahhh saw that its 1.4k for 18" ones.... Suppose 17" ones would be alot more cheaper.

thought stock rims would be heavier?

Yes. It's simply ridiculous to pay 120 for aircon filter which cost 20 bucks.

    Its too ridiculously expensive.
Do we have a case against eurokars for unfair competition?

If we dont service with them, they void our warranty. So they charge 100% more than market. Is it fair?

Just to share. I changed my rims to maZda 6 17"rims and Im using dunlop d05.

I realised that the tyres actually protect the rims from kerb abrasions.
    Very pleased with the function.

Is it a norm now? Or just dunlop has this function.

My personal review on Dunlop D05.
    Cheap. Made in Msia.
    Noisy but grippy.
Additional feature: rim protection (v impt to me).

I have used kumho esta, Michelin Xm2, Bridgestone and falken.

    Verdict...
    1. Michelin
    2. Bridgestone
    3 Dunlop
    4. Kumho.

Worse tyres to buy....Falken..aqueplate like mad when it rains!

Not all got 3 yr serving included...depend on package at time of signup... Note the 3yr servicing is strictly by 10k mileage points up to 60k, so if you hit only 54k by end 3 year, you will forfeit the 60k one. Thats when I ask my SE previously.
Also I got a feeling that the service package given by SE is not the same as the maintenance package by mazda workshop...

Ya, it is stated clearly for 60K or 3 years, whichever comes first. I asked the servicing consultant during 1K servicing... If my understanding is correct, as long as the item is indicated as R (replace) under the maintenance schedule, it shall be inclusive and free. Anything else needs to pay extra. I just did my 20k. Nothing extra was changed other than engine oil and filter . Cabin air filter was replace at 10k only. As per the service agent , that the only time they will change. I suspect the car was ship without cabin air filter. Maybe someone just got their car can open up the filter compartment to verify.

Instead of touching the seat belt switch, you might as well "short" the cable of iStop switch and make it permanently "close". Or maybe if possible, change the connection for the iStop switch and make it "normally close", in this way, you can still press the same button to off it if necessary.

BTW, "normally close" (with light on the switch) that means off/disable iStop.... sorry if it sounds complicated. haha

    Gd morning pplz,

Newbie to this forum, newbie to buying car. Wife and I looking to buy our first car and need some advices here. I have taken a read at the 400+ pages here and deciding to buy from one of the more popular car mix. We will be going to test drive a few cars soon. Key features of the car we are looking at are:

    1) Reliability --> Less time to service the car = more time for car to serve us

    2) Fuel efficiency --> Who doesn't want to save more money?? [:p]

    3) Safety --> This is family car, safety first.

After reading so many things on the internet, I am still trying to absorb some of the information. And a few things still not clear that I probably need some advice and appreciate any help that you guys can offer.

    Before buying

    1. Test drive the car, see how I feel about the car. Like the drive or not?

    2. Ask for the offers: What is the normal and car show offers for mazda 3 deluxe? What are the standard items? I only know 3-years warranty, solar film, car mat, free 1 year road tax, insurance subsidy, free upgrade to gtd COE, car camera. Are all these good stuffs? 3+2 warranty is worth it? What else should I ask for? Discounts would be nice too.

    Buying and waiting period

    1. Things to note before signing on the dotted line. Ask when is delivery and cheque deposit? What if delivery promise is not met? Terms and conditions that need to be taken note of?

    2. Is this the time to search for insurance or have to ask for quotation before buying?

    Receiving the car

    1. This car is intended to serve the family for 5 years and more. First thing upon receiving the car is to send for PPS? Is changing of rims/tyres necessary or can wait?

    2. Any other necessary things to do at this point? Upgrade engine oil, pest prevention etc???

Apols for the WOT and being a noob in car purchase. Kindly advise and if there is a good website that caters to new buyers like myself, do recommend pls. Do feel free to shoot if I miss out anything.

    Thanks in advance ya!!

    Haha... Not permanent silence it.
But rather, make it work in the reverse way.
That means without doing anything when u start the car, iStop is deativated.
But when u need it, u activate iStop to work.

Since u have read 400+ pages, I'm sure u have found all your answers!

One thing to note is when u test drive, that means u will have to buy from the same SE whom served u.
Bargain for the best deal before u test drive as some SE will not give much frwebies. And before signing on the dotted line, go for another round of bargain!

    Haha... Not permanent silence it.
But rather, make it work in the reverse way.
That means without doing anything when u start the car, iStop is deativated.
But when u need it, u activate iStop to work.

True true, reverse it will be the best. I am sure someone out there in sg or overseas done it.

Sometime i wonder, iStop feature is to save fuel when car stops at traffic light.

However, the separate battery for iStop cost $300 from AD. Taking a daring assumption that from outside workshop can get at $150 and the battery will last 3 yrs...

Will the fuel saving feature of iStop can saves more than $150 for 3 yrs? :a-confused:

Hahahah I jus dun depress fully. This way it'll not trigger i-stop

I didn't try that. If never fully depress, car will still come to a complete stop?

You can test drive as many times you want before you commit. No obligation .But from the same SE. After you test drive and didn't commit, normally the SE will follow up with your interest. Since you read thru 400pgs you might know who got a good SE here. Get the SE contact from the bro here to save your trouble. Finally if you dun like the SE who serve you, go to another showroom to start all over again.( Mazda showroom locate Ubi and leng Kee).

U can fully depress before coming to a stop. When almost stopping let go a bit. In this way iStop will not be activated.

U need to find the sweet spot... Lol
