2014 Mazda 3 part 61

After 6k km, im constantly getting 6.6l/km...

I wonder why some maz3 get only 12km/l..thats bad

Ya... Mine just reached 1K. Was rather consistently getting 6.7l/km as well... But then the listed FC of 5.7l/km seems almost impossible to get unless you travel like 80% highway... I wonder how did they get such figures... based on how many % on highway...

Was the electric blue a Mazda 3 or Mazda2?

It was a sedan, so definitely a M3. I had to do a double take too. Same with the new M3s with M2-lookalike rims.

    Just to compare driving styles:

Do you all rev off the line (2000+ to 3000rpm from the traffic light) then ease off once the speed has picked up (<2000rpm)? or do you go easy from the traffic light onwards? (<2000rpm) all the way.

I'm trying to figure out the most fuel efficient way to drive the Mazda 3. I drive at about 60% city and 40% highway (not expressway, more like viaducts). I get about 12-12.5km/l

I have very similar driving habits. Majority city, and almost always during peak hours, unfortunately.

I try not to rev >2000rpm too, unless people behind me impatient.

I've gotten everything from 12km/l to 14km/l, so I suppose yours is normal?

ya that's why i was wondering too, have never seen it on the brochure.

Bro, my old car used to have light beige colour. It gives the cabin a more luxury and rommier feel.

But practically, its hard to maintain. It will turn dark after some time.

Not say no good for white interior, but to maintain is not easy.

i had seriously considered white too, because it looks nicer. but because mine is standard, and the leather is local, it would probably not be of such a good quality. all it takes would be a pair of jeans to ruin it over time.

If trip is mainly highway routes, i get about 4.1-5.5L/100KM...
If trip is city routes, I get about 7.1-8.5L/100KM.... On ave about 7.3L/100KM now...so can do the math on the hw:city %...

I don't understand why it has to be so stressful just to save a few tenths of dollars when the car cost 100k+....,, imo, ignore the fc numbers, drive the way you like and would drive to enjoy the car, if need to rev hard, go ahead but if want to cruise and enjoy the scenery, by all means cruise at slower speed .. in the end, fc amount different is not gonna be huge.. Agreed with you on this too! However, it is stilla good habit to monitor your FC once in a while... a drop in FC for no apparent reason could be a warning sign...

Monitor is ok, but no point comparing with other 3 owner

Different route, Different driving style, Different load.... How can it be possibly to compare!

I tried to maintain <2000rpm but really very slow... i worry the car behind get impatient. So, I always end up reving off at around 2500-3000 rpm... My FC so far not fantastic cos i drive 95% city and short distances.

What's the average FC you guys get? Want to know so that I can tell some "over-concerned" people who like to comment "You bought a Mazda???? Drink petrol right?????". it's quite annoying. It doesn't help when I dun have good statistics to show them. I can only safely say it's comparable to, if not better than my previous Honda Stream

Just tell these "overly concerned" people that your car is special, it is using liquified explosive dinosaurs. That is why FC is so high.

Actually, the FC of the new Mazdas are pretty decent. Especially when compared to the first and second gen Mazda 3s. Most people have hte misconception that the new models drink as much as the old (I did too) but in all honesty, we do get pretty good mileage from the 3rd gen.

Yes, fully agree. In fact the FC is awesome for this new model. At least 20% lower FC than my old Altis.

My old Altis is getting 12km/l in average. Now 3 is getting close to 15km/l. Its awesome!

Good choice! Tbh I'm not really sure if the coat will last thru the warranty but John's service and attitude does make the difference. At least I know he will rectify and do touch ups for you whenever needed. And maintenance is reasonable too!

Bro, once a year for the maintenance for the touch up is sufficient. Do a weekly wash and dry with the right clothes and your ride will be fine. Anyway the warranty is for 3 years.

    Dear Bros and 1 Sis...

I collected my car just now. I am so happy, it's been a long long wait since 13 Aug.

It was last minute actually. I received an SMS by my SE that I can collect today and I rushed down after work. He was very nice, staying back late when the showroom has closed to handover.

The delay was because my omv is higher than normal deluxe sedans ($20,100+) hence the reason why my car got stuck at customs for 2 weeks. The other 5 cars that got stuck also got good news today. So the wait was worth it. I was also given some (ok, quite a lot actually) petrol vouchers as goodwill, very nice of him.

Will post pics soon... Think tonight can't sleep.

btw, I am constantly getting 5.9 now because of my Yishun to Changi business park. So its all depends on express way vs traffic intensive route. My Altis previously gave around 12 -13 km/per litre so on comparison Mazda is still better from my experience. However, I just completed only 500kms.

the colour and "new rims" match what i saw. didn't know M2 sedan was here alr... and quite sotong to not recognise that something is not the same as the car i'm driving every day [:p]

No offence, but the old M2 sedan look like a squashed matchbox. Too tall, and small width. M2 look better as a hatchback.

Congrats. Now all your accessories can be used.

Of course it can. Vios sold here is now made in Indonesia!

So SGD Vs Rupiah! lol. Perhaps that is why Vios does not seem to be as popular as before. Toyota lovers prefer Altis.

Surprisingly, our FC based on the meter has been good. But we've only used 1/4 tank so far. It was initially 15km/L on day 1, and now it's hovering around 19/20km/L. But then, we only drove the car for about 5 days (60% city and 40% highway) before we went for our holiday and just started driving the car again yesterday. Will monitor and calculate manually when we pump again.

Is this normal for the fuel indicator?:

At full tank, it hardly moves. All bars are full.

After >100+ km, the bars start to empty....very quickly.

It depends on how you pump I guess? Many pump attendants will pump beyond the auto-full so our full tank is usually fuller and may be filled beyond the full indicator. Once it passes the full tank mark, the tank empties normally so you'll feel that it empties faster. That's my observation, not sure if it's the same for you.

It's only for the first 1/4 tank and it's from car meter, may not be true reflection? Will monitor again when we pump next tank. And we only drove the car for 6 days even though we have the car for almost 2 weeks, so may not be true indicator.

My avg fc is 16KM/L. has anyone tried using the v power nitro plus. I find it giving the car slightly more power. But not sure if its a mental thing.

First thing to do is to relocate the plate. Told the SE not to drill holes into the original spot which he did. He pasted a note in Chinese on it too. The double sided tape remnants still there unfortunately.

It's an automatic audio level control. The audio volume will increase as you accelerate to higher speed. The higher the level setting, the louder your audio volume will become when you speed up.

to be precise it increases the volume of the stereo depending on how fast you're going, to compensate for ambient noise.

Some areas of the scratch look quite deep. Those need some kind of patching. The minor ones can be got rid of by rubbing compound. Bring your car to some paint workshops and see if they can help you with it.

Hi all, so sorry, made a big boo boo. I read wrongly. What I thought was km/L is actually km/H. Not sure what AVG km/H means, must read the manual.
