Wish to ask fellow bros here, how do you all utilise the DVD player?

The DVD player only work when car is parked and no one stay in the car long enough when it is parked to watch a DVD

Sorry you are 1 bar away from the middle mark. I think you can hit 700km ba.

u all call the square "bar" and the 1/4 one what u all call ah? so we can understand e same here lol

There about. When pump full, my first bar only drop after 160km or so..

Now at 470km still indicate is about half or one bar away from half..

I drive like pussy as if i got no brakes. :)

wa i opposite from you. sometimes i drive like takumi.

    Hanzeng

Oh bro.... Perhaps I have not been clear.

Bro Hanzeng was saying he is putting his rear facing seat behind driver seat. I meant I am also thinking to put at the baby seat at the rear but behind the front passenger. Therefore my baby seat will be at the left of the car while Hanzeng car seat is on the right (behind driver). I am just wondering if there is any good reason to put behind driver?

For me, the reason I put on the left is because that is the ideal side to carry the baby in and out of the car, especially when the car stops on a busy road. Another reason is weight distribution in the car, I am heavier than my wife and hence would like the right side of the car gets more weight to balance out a bit.

I had the rear facing baby seat behind the driver seat because the baby seat would be "permanently" there. And when I need to ferry other passengers, they can hop on/off car from left, especially when I need to drop them on by the roadside.

My wife will usually carry baby in from left and place baby on car seat. Unless we are parked in a carpark lot, then probably we will place baby in direct by opening the door on the right.

If u install at front passenger seat, babay need to face backwards. This is for safety due to airbag.

If u install at rear passenger seat, baby can face front.

IMPORTANT! please note that if the baby seat is in the FRONT PASSENGER seat, the baby must face FORWARDS. User manual pg 2-45. This is also on the back of the front passenger seat sun visor - flip it down to see it.

If the airbag deploys and the baby is facing BACKWARDS, the airbag may push the baby seat to the point where the baby's face will hit the passenger seat.

WOW! 470km and you havent reach half tank yet? Keep it up bro!

i think my current consumption is 6.7L.

    usually about 7L plus minus..

470km reach half liao. either half or one bar away from half.

u all call the square "bar" and the 1/4 one what u all call ah? so we can understand e same here lol

    2.0 different mah.

I avoid flooring the pedal to prevent disappointment you know!

    lol..

So every time i see car at the back even quite a distance away, i do not do lane change as i do not want to floor my pedal... because flooring the pedal will give disappointment.

Likewise when i used to drive Jetta, i like to floor... lol...

For my Mz 2 my half tank 350 quite normal and full tank usually 550. Pumped 37L this morning. Not even 15km/L. Utterly disappointed. Usually on Esso but last tank on Shell.

i find 2.0 really gaolat. sometimes press abit 80 den hard to brake down smoothly, first half of e brake won't bite and when bike ma chiam suddenly drop 10km/hr in 1 second. still trying to master it.

actually i don't like to floor, the flooring give loud noise but gradual actually no much noise one.

okay update abit. i'm at 350km but 1 small box bar away from the midway point. the first quarter took way longer than the second quarter.

guess i'm looking at 700km for the entire tank?

most of you would be topping up upon hitting the last quarter right?

Can't really gauge like this. At 3/4 tank, I typically travel around 200km. Theoretically my full tank should last me 800km by using this measurement but so far I only managed to clock 500km before the reserve light turned on.

Our tank is like a funnel. The top 1/4 will have more volume then the lower quarters. Then the first half of the tank will be much more then the lower half.

I usually measure my mileage like this:

    1) First, I pump a full tank.

    2) I reset my Trip B Odometer and also the FC monitor in Mazda Connect immediately after i finish pumping petrol

    3) Drive as normal to work, home, shopping etc.....

    4) When petrol is low, I drive to station to pump. When reach pump, I note down Trip B mileage

    5) Pump full tank again..... Pay and get receipt. Receipt will show how much oil my car consume since my previous pump. For e.g. receipt says you pump 47L this time, it means u have consumed the same amount since your last pump.

    6) Then use the 47L divided by the Trip B mileage and multiply by 100 to get the FC. Compare this FC with the one shown in Mazda Connect. For me, both FC numbers are the same.

    7) M3 petrol tank capacity is 51L and using your FC, you know what is the maximum range you can travel.

    8) To continue monitoring, repeat step 2, 3, 4.....

Tank capacity is 51 litres? So far I only pumped twice, both times when reserve tank light came on. Each time i pump only around 41 litre. Is the remaining 10 litres the size of the reserve tank?

Yes, need to shop for car seat now.
Any recommendation for car seat suitable for Mazda 3, for rear facing?

    Congrats! and alsoto rider83 [laugh]

I've tried maxi-cosi milofix with the isofix at baby hypermarket (helpful staff there btw)rear facing with the baby seat fully 'flat'.
The unit measures 70cm.With the front pax seat fully forward, there's still about 10cm allowance.
Problem was, due to the opposite inclination of our rear seats butt section, the baby seat in a rear facing position isupright 45 degrees instead of almost flat.

I'm leaning to getting infant car seat then those forward facing4-36kg seats instead of those convertible newborn to 18kg ones.

Not healthy to wait until empty as the car will suck until the bottom of the tank which is full of dirt, quarter should be fine. i do it at half tank for a piece of mind. I was told by a japanese car builder at Honda Japan when I was there for training.

    driving style? takumi or tortoise?

    70% highway, 30% city

Always cruise within 10km/h of speed limit

As for acceleration, it's somewhere in the middle. Really depends; when I fetch my wifey during morning peak I just follow the traffic flow, when the road is empty for a long stretch I'll stretch her legs a little [grin]

But like someone here mentioned before, I usually anticipate traffic in advance and use throttle control and less brakes while making sure I don't hold anyone up.

Having said that, I realise that our I-eloop does have some form of engine braking when off throttle - a little getting used to even when coming to a stop on brakes as the i-eloop will help to slow down for the initial part and additional brake pressure is required for the last bit when the i-eloop goes off. - sorry i digress :XD:

The car thinks your cabin temperature is too hot so it restarts your engine. Increase the temperature of your aircon to 25 or 26 degrees C, and the iStop will stay activated much longer. Of course this trick won't really work if you drive your car in the middle of the day when it's extremely hot.

Either not enough energy stored in capacitor or aircon needs to work or engine cold and needs running engine.

It's partially because the longer we drive, the cooler the car's cabin is.. my record so far for iStop is about 1 minute 37 seconds..

    Max 2 mins.

    Bros,

I noticed that the iStop sometimes after activation, it will deactivate and start engine automatically even when I depressed the brake pedal fully.

    Any idea what's wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

The Bros here have answered your query. It is the temp between the cabin and what you set.

When I just started my journey, it is normally jam or lots of traffic lights. If you happen to stop, try not to activate istop because your cabin is not yet cooled enough and istop will deactivate. That means your spark plugs will trigger. In the long run, it will reduce your spare plug working life.

2 ways to prevent istop from kicking in when you stop the your vehicle:

    1) control your foot on brakes, need practise
    2) deactivate your istop manually, press and hold the istop button on your right. U will hear a beep beep sound and "istop" words become orange.

Reactivate istop after you have driven for about 15 mins onwards is optimum.

Yes, non LED. The LED may be blinding when using at night. There is a reason why the driver cant see his side mirror LED blink for M3. Imagine filter lane, look at mirror and the LED blink blink back at you at night. ha ha

I just worry that the blinking LED will block the smaller contact like motorcycle when I filtering, espically at night.. ha ha.

As for installation, the first one took me longer to install cos I not very sure how to do it and worry that I may break the mirror.. taking out is easier than fitting the new one in. Once you done the first one, the second one is a breeze. You know how much strength to push in and is confident too. ha ha

I bought some other stuff from taobao too to maximise the base shipping rate of $39Yuan (~S$8) to SG direct. The base version mirror will cost about ~S$33. The version with LED (without heater) cost ~S$45. You guys can buy up to two together to share the S$8 shipping cost, thereafter every additional set shld increase the shipping cost by ~S$2 per set.

The LED one will need additional work to splice open and connect the wire with the existing LED. It may take a while to DIY. I tried to open the front cover of the side mirror to locate the heater wiring, very difficult without the correct tools.. tried for 20mins and gave up. Ha ha

If u install at front passenger seat, babay need to face backwards. This is for safety due to airbag.

If u install at rear passenger seat, baby can face front.

I bought the deluxe and im worried the rear airbag will hit my baby. So i placed my baby seat in the middle. Not sure if 8m doing it right. Most ppl put at driver side of rear.

IMPORTANT! please note that if the baby seat is in the FRONT PASSENGER seat, the baby must face FORWARDS. User manual pg 2-45. This is also on the back of the front passenger seat sun visor - flip it down to see it.

If the airbag deploys and the baby is facing BACKWARDS, the airbag may push the baby seat to the point where the baby's face will hit the passenger seat.

    This recommendation is crazily dangerous

Just collected my car last week.

I know this has been asked b4. Regarding the nav system. I tried adding country and town as Singapore but certain places still dont pop out. The navigation guide book is zzzzzzz. Any way to go around this? Quite a pain in e arse. Tried esso supreme petrol for my first top up...dont feell any diff

Which place are you looking at? Post the postal code here and I check for you.

Mazda Nav system is not the best. Some new roads are not inside, some new buildings too. I also posted before that they got my place wrong (nav system send me to my neighbour's place). But all is not too bad because in the end, I still can get to the places I want.

If a place is not found in the nav system, then find a nearby address. Not expecting the nav/map to be perfect so still ok for me.

Are you serious about putting the baby seat in the middle?? I hope you are trolling as I was advised not to do that because:

    1) How to secure the seat

    2) In a really freak event that the baby is not secured and met with a head on accident, the baby can fly out through the windscreen

Having said this, this morning I saw a Honda car with a baby seat in front (between driver and passenger) and facing front. It is extremely dangerous!

Just wondering if the sports pedals are available for Mz3 from TEK.
If they are available, are they those slip on types or they replace the pedals fully?

Yes, they are available but they cost a bomb. The accelerator and foot rest require drilling. The brake pedal replaces the stock rubber without drilling.
