Anyone knows who to install meter that reads both batt volt and car temperature? Of course not voiding the warranty if it is fixed.

    TIA

Car temperature can buy those stick on type... I think NTUC supermarket also can find.

This is available on QOO10 - in the range of $35. I think you may be able to find better prices - I didn't look through as I already have one for my batt voltage.

Do a search for "Volt Meter Thermometer"

The PPS installer demonstrated to you will not get scratches? They tried with keys? Pen knives?

Eh.... wait I thought some bro here was saying there PPS helped with scratches or something? Something about seeing a scratch and then wiping it off and realising its just the ceramic coat powder or something. Maybe I got it wrong.

Any bro here can share their experience with the aftermarket head unit? My brain is on the verge of exploding just thinking about whether to get it for 1380 (with tong wee lee). My main concern is whether the aftermarket commander control knob even works well with the aftermarket display in the first place, and whether reverse cameras are actually useful. I have heard some people that they never ever look at their reverse camera even though they have it.

And why the fish is mycarforum limiting the number of posts can make sia. so irritating...

What is your need to buy the aftermarket head unit first? You seem to wanna buy for the sake of buying lei, since you also dunno if reverse cam is useful or not. The ppl at Elantra thread slam me say actually head unit is not necessary, maybe its really not necessary for you? lol. Can save the money spend on more pps :D

Since you like all these you should have taken the deluxe model instead..since it will cost the same if you install aftermarket later+resale value lower than deluxe..

Anyway i noob so i did use the reverse cam, heads up display etc..plus you will indeed feel like you are driving a 2016 car with a lcd inside instead of a 1996 car. ..whatever i have passengers they will comment on how modern my car is..plus i really need the gps sometimes so i find the features useful..

To add on pps will not make your car scratch proof despite all the claims. I did went for pps and i will still recommend it. It is to protect the paint and to make washing your car easier+dirt less adhering to your car..whatever 9h hardness is actually referring to the measurement of pencil lead hardness..so its bulshit n wont really protect ur paint if you really use a key n scratch it..
My car is less than 3 months but already hv numerous paint chip, even though i have a $700 pps since 1st week..

Anyway, just to add on pps. Buy if you wanna protect against swirl marks caused by washing or to have that showroom shine feel for a couple of years or even easier washing due to the beading effect.

If youre buying thinking that it can protect your car from knocks and scratches even like a simple car door scratch (dun need key la), youre wasting $. Save that $1500 and respray after 5 years.

Second on the PPS. PPS is just an additional coating on top of the paint. If someone intentionally scratch your car, no PPS could have prevent that. Tiny stones maybe but bigger ones harder to prevent. And after applying, the PPS coating will also get thinner and thinner due to wear and tear, weather element while driving. Hence, some of us took up package to reapply PPS.

So if you have been driving carefully and no one try to scratch your car, your paint will be protected from wear and tear in the longer run, hence PPS is meant to protect paint. Afraid of scratch? Drive a tank :)

    Cheers!

My COE is going to expire this Nov, looking for a replacement for my altis now.

I like the mazda 3 design, but friends of mine keep telling me a facelift might be coming soon, any truth of this "facelift" thing?
Sorry, I know very little about cars...

By the way, another friend asked me to consider the new Elantra. Went down to the showroom this morning, the exterior is nice! However, the interior is just disappointing (to me), very plastic feel.....

Your "friends" when they claim there's a facelift soon, they should give a date for the facelift. When issit? Usually it should be 3 years, so mz3 is launched in 2014 and till date its the same model. So yes a facelift should arrive in 2017, which is next year. Will it be this year? Maybe. Pics are surfacing in other countries on the facelift. Will there be a simultaneous launched in japan and SG? Make a guess?

The civic is launched in Thailand now and will only be launched in SG in June. But its launched in US since Jan :D

Honestly speaking, cash discount is the best freebie you can get. All those freebies thrown in are normally of sub-par quality. Better to buy them on your own outside with the cash discount.

The thingy is, with freebies you kinda don't need to "spend money" yourself. When u get the car sure pok gai liao, then still must spend additional, mentally you'll be reluctant lo, or not do everything in day 1. just my sentiment lol

Guys check with you all, when they mention free servicing, does it mean parts and labour or only one of the two?

The aftermarket one is galactio yes. Galactio is one of the better ones I heard, cause can use in Malaysia as well.

I supposed depends how many maps they providing. Aftermarket LCD comes with SG map, East ane West Malaysia maps and also Thailand map.

OK. Thanks.. The SA to reset my maintenance schedule for next 5000 which mean it will be come 6000 in the odo

I don't understand what u meant by "reset your maintenance".

Anyway earlier bro told u is correct - its based to Odo reading.

If 10k servicing and can reset, u go at 16k? No right...
So should be based on odo readings - 1k, 5k, 10k, 20k... Etc (provided u using synthetic oil).

There is a maintenance schedule function in the car, you can set them and when the mileage is about to reach, the yellow wrench will appear in the dashboard to tell you your car is about due for servicing.

I believe its a function in the deluxe MZD connect or something.

So your car tells you when to go for the next oil change, servicing, wheel alignment and all that.

Most of the conti cars should have that nowadays.

Don't think its a feature across all 3's though. Not keeping my fingers crossed.

The 'mainenance function' is just a reminder (to-do, calendar that kind of thing). eg: When you set it to 5000km, the reminder (warning) icon will light up on your dash board (where your meter cluster is) - it looks like a spanner/wrench so don't panic if you see it, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your car - just that it's time for servicing.

I think it's only available on the deluxe cos it's set throught the MZDconnect.

I don't think you set at 5k mean it will light up at 5k, but more like it will light up after 5k from the date you set. Said for instance, you done your 1k and the next service is at 5k, you should set at 4k instead.

How to judge good or not? Different brand will add different additives to the raw petrol. I doubt our butt will feel any difference.

Imo, just choose a kiosk that is convenient for u... For example, the one that u will always passby, or gives the best discount or feebies.

Exactly right. Its all marketing to maximise profits for their big bonuses. The real difference is really minimal if any esp for b&b cars. Just use the grade that the car is designed & tested for. Anything higher than that is just psychological feel good factor, & since higher grade petrol pay more must mean better fc and power etc...all self fulfilling.

Free labour & parts. They changed my front lower arm bushing without charging me.

Free parts are very basic stuff like engine oil, oil filter... U see expensive things like fuel filter and etc included or not lor.

The lower arm bushing is claim from warranty. Not free parts technically.

Yah cos u are a carrot with big ego.. Keke I am not.

I no money. I am poor.. Forgot u renewed ur kimchi at 70k Coe, then recently go buy 520 lah. Of course u got money. U win, I lose.. Kekeke

In case you dun know OCW - Optimum Car Wax... $29 a bottle, waxed for 3 times already. Still got 3/4 bottle left. Ya, I no money. Haha.

And thank you no dings and dents on my kimchi. Kimchi metals seems harder as compared to my previous Thaiyota. Since u said in one of your previous posts that it's about time that my 9 month old car get dings and dents.. Come where u Park your 520, I use my kimchi door to create dings and dents on your car door in the process create some on mine as well. Haha.

test drove the Mazda deluxe yesterday and overall i find it good, except that when accelerate from stationary, the car felt abit underpowered.

the sales executive said they are increasing by $1k on 21 Mar, and ask if i want to commit on 20th March

any idea what does this means? do they expect COE price to go down in next bidding so that they can cut prices next weekend?

Low end torque is not great but I supposed its tuned for better fuel economy. Then again, its probably normal for 1.5l naturally aspirated petrol engine. A diesel turbocharged engine will provide better low end torque.

Most likely is they met their sales target for this month...

Increase by 1k maybe 2 scenarios:

1, The already meet their target and so they increase the price - u want u take attitude.

2, COE may be going up... There's no GOD in TEK... No one will know COE will go up or down. They based on gut feel as they are selling more cars now.

By the way, i don't understand why they increase by 1k and u think COE will go down??

An example of PPS benefits. However how to verify?

    • Permanent Protection
    • Scratch Resistance (Above 9H)
    • Super Hydrophobic Effect
    • Weather & UV Resistance
    • Thermal Resistance (up to 750?C)
    • Anti-Graffiti
    • Advanced Chemical Resistance
    • Oxidation & Corrosion Resistant
    • High Gloss Finish

If believe then do, don't believe then don't do lo. Not as if only Mazda 3 cars need to PPS only. All sorts of cars also they do why you focus mainly on mz3 cars? Trying to incite hate issit?

Nope i don't do that. I merely dislike what i feel is correct to dislike. Not like somebody... "not much better" also can use as a reason.

Just had a test drive today, I found the acceleration was actually better than my 9 year-old Altis.

SE offered quite a number of freebies as well (servicing, camera and solar film).

That's why I always say pps is for you to waste money on.you can do 20 layers yet a paint chip still can penetrate the paint

Just got a fresh scratch today. Will try to take a video of me removing it (hopefully [smash]) this weekend when I got time to wash the car.

Nobody said its 100% scratch-proof. If you get into an accident or side swipe a pillar, of course don't expect it to hold up.

But at least if some sadistic idiot walking past your car decides to scratch it with a key for fun, the underlying paint is protected, i.e. bare metal is not exposed!

Regarding paint chips, I've yet to encounter one after 4 mths of driving (7000+ km), so it could just be the quality of the PPS applied, or maybe I'm just lucky...

Anyway, up for you bros to decide whether PPS is worth it, I'm just here to provide the other side of the story against naysayers (till i'm proven wrong [dizzy] )

    Mr Tan,

Try do a bit of research within this thread,
    You can find gold!

    From my research,
servicing, car camera, solar film are all basics.

    Specifically ask for more stuff.
Car mat, sports pedals, Christmas tree, etc
