noob question, under normal driving condition, what is the estimated mileage that our brake pad can last to? 50k or 60??

My previous ride, not Mazda 3, lasted 60k. OEM

ya, u mention that, but it is necessary to change those in 1K or 5K???

Necessary or not depends on the different owners. For me, I don't bother to change at 1k or 5k. It's a bit like PPS, some say compulsory, some say just spray the whole car when 5 years. Different strokes for different folks.

During run in, some fine metal particles in the engine may be present and continue to remain in the system till 10k when the engine oil is changed. So, some may change it at 1k or 5k to minimise the amount of fine metal particles. Some just change at 10k, like me. I even know of somebody who doesn't change engine oil at all, he drive till the car stop and change car.

Posted this question on the Qashqai's section as well, but want views from pro-Mazda group and pro-Qashqai group as well.
I'm planning to get my first car, as my wife is currently expecting.
Sometimes will use the car to ferry father who just retired due to health issues.
Want some opinion on which will be a better buy, Mazda 3 or Qashqai 1.2.
    Qashqai is about 100k now.

Test drive both. But I'm more concerned about the rear seat capacity and comfort.

Go for qashqai. It's a bigger chicken wing, for 100k get more car also. Gogo!

Hi all, I would like to find out the avg FC for 1.5/2L Maz3 owners here. Thanks in advance

    2L : about 7liter/km or 15km/l.

I think most bros here have go for 17" than 18". I'm keen to know the FC for 1.5l on 18" rim (stock or 3rd party)...
I'm thinking to upgrade to 18" in future...

Yup. Agreed bro. I believe your leg also quite heavy. Hahaha. If that's the case I believe aftermarket 17" confirm lighter than the OEM 17".

Waiting for other bro to chip in for 1.5L with 18" rims

Ya lor. I wanted 17". My friend tell me u will regret. Why not one time spend to 18" then won't regret. Rather than buying 17" then sell away and upgrade.

Another question, any kakis use 18" on their 1.5L? How's the FC and the response? Thinking of the 18" over the 17".

No difference in FC. I upsized to 18" rims at 4000km. I haven't reset my FC display since I bought my car and it is showing 6.6L/100km right now.

Lol. This is what the kaki I saw at ikea told me too. He use the stock for 7 months then upgrade it to 18". But how is the pickup compared to 16"? U r using ori Japanese rim or aftermarket?

Rim/tyre pricing tend to have significant jump at 17 to 18 then followex by 19 to 20 inch.

even it is $499 it is still cheaper than $700 right. It is under major servicing, include change fan belt, change ATF oil. like what i said I been sending my car back to AD for servicing since day one until now my mileage is 136,xxx KM. the maximum I paid for servicing package is $4xx exclude 'ala carte' menu.

I do agree on that. But a few other companies they quote also about 1.6k or so. Hence I am thinking if the saving for 400 to 500 is worth or not since there will be 500 fees imposed by tek

    hey guys,

I'm one of those who only got 1k,5k & 10k for servicing. I went to check the ala carte servicing cost for TEK and almost fainted.

Anyone here got good suggestion to where to service?

    Thanks in advance!

Is there a quiet (less car, traffic lights) and rather long road in SG that I can test out the manual transmission for my vehicle? Trying to understand the "mystical bond between man and machine"...

Hmm i personally despise peeps whom do this during traffic jams. How can "ruthless" acceleration and jam braking be "preventing accident most of the time".

Its already a jam, just roll and drive consistently will give better consequence for all rather than accelerate and jam brake. even if cars weave in and out of lanes to get into the faster lane, end day it'll all be the same, sometimes a lane is faster sometimes its slower.

its this kind of ungracious and caring for ownself attitude that makes driving experience such a stressful one during jams, only here exclusive in SG.

Ugly singaporean, ugly behavior. This is the harsh truth whether you like it or not bro. Can always point the finger at others, but everyone out there in the jam will still point the finger back at you.

    Hard truth paiseh :)

haha, it's a forum! no need to paiseh in sharing your view's of driving in Singapore [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

sibei cham lei, if u do that, the one behind must do also else got gap. too big a gap ppl cut in left right centre, end day no 1 benefits, your mood no good, and yet create a chance for everybody to be uncivil, everyone mood no good.

Haha not test drive... Just wanna try out how the manual transmission works.

Choosing a quiet road not that I can speed, rather that in case my vehicle breaks down (touch wood), I wont cause a traffic jam. Haha
