2014 Mazda 3 part 67

    Lawrenceke

After driving my new car for 11 days.. it is really an awesome ride! Stable handling, posh interior and good pick up speed!

Not sure if it is the new 18" rims with Dunlop tyres... i felt the car is more stable and not so noisy compared to the stock toyo tyres. Best part of the deal.. the fuel consumption is quite decent compared to my trusty kimchi ride

Daytime and Night time 70% 30% highway ride..

    P_20151212_140012.jpg

    P_20151212_200428.jpg

Still on first tank of 98 Techron.. let see if i can reach 600km for first tank.

Inspection just disable the lights should be ok bah...

But I think the inspection guys arn't that stupid right? Even if don't switch on they will still be able to see the led bulbs... No?

2 weeks in Aussie and my car batt died! Car cannot start. $58 to recover by Mazda.

Most likely Due to car cam... Sigh... I unplug but not completely unplug... Lesson learnt!

You should have bought a portable jump starter from tao bao! It cost about the price for them to jump start one time... with the portable jump starter, you can jump start many many times urself. lol... its a good investment IMO...

It's actually quite adequate even on a pitch-black road at night. Tested that at the road leading to Sungei Lebam floating seafood restaurant - fireflies visit.

Of course fog lights would be better in lighting up the area just in front of the car.

But then, could be because I did not want to have the Rikecool film. I prefer to wear my UV-Polarised glasses when driving in the day, and my parking is mainly sheltered.

The sunlight protection film tends to make it darker when driving at night.

5 years down the road, it may turn out to be a wise decision!

You made the best choice at that moment. So just enjoy your carefree ride!

    Heheheheheheh You are hilarious!

I changed the bulb to osram night breaker. Can see the diff now. Trying to stay stock as long as possible. Lol... any good and bright white halogen or h11 Led to recommend?

Good morning bros/sis, I need your help on alignment out after changing of rims and tyre to 17" from 16".

I called my tyre shop and they inform me that they will rotate the tyre (left to right) and no need to do alignment.

    Are they information correct?

Don't mix up with Wheel Alignment, Wheel Rotation and Wheel Balancing.

Changing tires or rims will need to do Wheel Balancing. This is a must!

After driving for around 8000km or 10000km, then you will need to do Wheel Rotation to ensure equal wear and tear.

Wheel Alignment is only done when your car starts to move one side (despite flat road), or have sound, or uneven wear. Normal case you do not need to do Wheel Alignment.

    No need to doWheel Alignment.

Good for you! I usually do not make modifications. But this time, had no choice and installed the fog lights, just this morning. In time for my Malaysia trip on Wednesday.

Some Malaysian road are so pocked marked that you need to see what's just ahead. Hope fully the fog lights will help illuminate better.

I disagree. I think the words Axela looks classy!

    What does Axela mean?

[ syll. a-xe-la, ax-ela ] The baby girl name Axela is pronounced aeZEHLAH . Axela has its origins in the Hebrew language. Axela is a variant form of the French Axelle.

Axela is infrequently used as a baby name for girls

is your car still very new and have not yet driven much? then the factory alignment should still be valid. what you need to do is just a recentering of the steering wheel.

thread of the tires has caused a slight off set of the steering wheel.

all one needs to do is to adjust the tie rods on both sides equally, to re-center the steering wheel. you can either go to a wheel alignment shop of any trusted workshop or DIY.

There's also another term "Steering Wheel Alignment"!

DO you mean when going straight on a flat road, your steering wheel is "off centre"? Or do you mean your car will starts to steer towards left by itself?

If its the former, check your tire pressure. And maybe your workshop is right, swapping the wheels may help. If still cannot, then will to realign the steering wheel.

If its the later, then doing a wheel alignment will be required.

This is rather unprofessional leh... just swap left to right and monitor? They should do a proper job and get the problem solved on the spot. BTW changing tyres from left to right can only be done if you tyres are symmetrical.

Get a pair of good jump cables (I've had one pair for 10 years - used about 5 times). Then ask a kind soul to help give you a jump. Or a neighbour or a friend or a relative or maybe even another Mazda 3 owner who lives in your estate. :)

The portable jump starter is still the better option - but make sure it's a reliable one. I have one that's died on me because I didn't charge it regularly to maintain the charge - It's an old model so I'm guessing newer ones have better tech.

Just to share my experience with jumper cables... Its impt to get those good and thick ones... those that are cheap and thin ones can only be used to 'charge' a flat batt from a normal car batt but it will take time for the batt to be recharged. If you try to crank your car while the thin cables are connected to another car, the current will be too much for the thin cables to handleand u will start to see smoke coming out from the cables. Yourengine may crank a few times but most likely it won't start.

I'm disappointed that even major store like Autobac sells those sub-standard cables which can't be used to do a proper jump start.

Can it be installed onself or need some special tools?

    Virgin post!!! :D

Got my Mazda3 HB about two weeks ago. Upgraded from my Honda Jazz which was about 7.5 years old already.

Been spending like 5 hours reading all the posts here (300+ pages??? OMG). Decided to zhng my ride a bit...

    1. Window visor from JDM.

    2. Door sill and aluminium pedals from Aliexpress.

Thinking of changing my tyres from 16 to 17. I see some have changed to 18, really look good, but I don't really want my FC to suffer too much.

Besides the tyre shop that JDM recommends on the 2nd floor, any other shops to recommend? I used to go to Soh Brothers, but just want to keep my options open...

    TIA!

Wondering why the local cars sold without the heatshield... Cut cost until like that? I know the booth has...

Or it is that the heatshield will prevent the heat from conducting away?something like wrapping an insulator around a heated object?

There are two views on the matter.

First one: It protects the bonnet from being too hot ( thus protecting the paint work).

Second: By being hot the bonnet acts as a heat sink which will cool the engine compartment, especially when you are travelling ( kind of air-cooled).

Personal experience: It does not make much difference either way. Looks wise, YES. When you open the bonnet it looks much cleaner and more classy. As for dampening the engine sound, not much difference.

Oic... Wow , a simple sheet of heat shield but can have lots to learn too :)

Thks! Look wise, yes really looks nicer without the bare metal look.

steering will tend to veer to left as our road drainage system in on the left. If it is a strong pull to left, alignment is needed,

whoa... nice mileage. mine only 7.2km/l. also with techron 98.

Actually our display is showing mileage in "L/100km" not "Km/L". So for L/100km, the lower the better mileage. For Km/L is the higher the better. If yours is 7.2L/100Km, it is about 14km/L. Quite good if you are heavy footer on accelerator.

Do u hear less noise especially during morning start?

If you are used to the M3 without the insulator, you can hear the reduction in engine noise after installing it. Not a lot, but still can hear the difference.

Just take 100 divide by the number of litres. In this example, it's 100/7.2=13.8km/l

Then I went to add eyelids to my ride...

The following pic shows the guys in action doing the wrap.

It was meticulously done. With exact measurements using green tape to ensure symmetry. Then they checked with me to ensure I like it before they proceed. It's a very professional attitude and I love it.

They take special care to clean the surface before and after and remove air bubbles.

update: I had a phone call with Kennyand he told me this is very common of going to the left after changing of tyres and rims which wheel alignment can't solveit.

Let the new rims and tyres run in till 5km and chk again whetherthe problem still occur.

He recommend to do wheel alignment between 5 to 8km and tyre rotation in every 10km.

I have a nice chat with Kenny andlots of information shared with me duringour phone conversation.

Thumb upz for Kenny Wheel Alignment...:)

PS: probably all bros or sis, do you come across this problem aft changing of rims & tyre?

Agree with one of the bro. Difficult to advice as it depends on how well the bike folds. Brompton or Flamingo will fold small. A Tyrell with a drop bar will fold bid! If u had tried your 2 foldies and can put inside K3, then go for it.

But u seriously, u choose car because of your bike? Go for a MPV or SUV then. All bikes can go in. Else get a bike rack like me. BTW inside my boot have 2 Dahons ;)

    Small comparing to K3?

K3 boot should be bigger from the outlook. Rear passenger space not sure as i didn't sit in.

But seriously, if u need big boot and more rear passenger seat, go for a bigger cc car. Have u seen the new Suzuki MPV? Not sure what's the price, but should meet your need.

In the first place, u need to know what u r buying. When u start checking out M3, I'm sure u have already 99% made up your mind and the rest 1% is to buy from who whom will be able to give u the best deal.

Free 8"LCD Display with GPS and Rear Reverse Camera.
    Free Front Camera.
Free RikeCool Tint (some say is included)
