2014 Mazda 3 part 56

  • 11 November 2015 - 01:28 PM
    momoechan

    Rim setup:
    Gloss black RX-8 rims
    188 offset 50

    Tyres:
    225/45/18 Nexen N5000 Plus

    Other mods:
Blacked out grill trim and window belts
Dome lights, reverse lights and license plate lights LED conversion

It's still a work in progress. I gotta hold back a bit in modding. Otherwise my CFO is going to kill me.

Looks good. How's the drive with 18" now that you can compare with the stock rims?

    Need help just PM.... [:p]

Service is good...workers good also....thats why I stick to him for 20 yrs...knowledge is fantastic!

Sure, will definitely send a PM if need more help. So the boss is knowledgeable but at times PMS? But if he carries mainly 18" then I'll skip. Hubby will only agree to 17" at most.

Did PPS with New Age Polish on the very next day after car collection. :) But only time will tell if you ask me...

Was it Gabriel Chia who did your PPS? can share which package you went for? Glass, Ceramic or Hybrid?

To tell the truth, there is not much difference lol. Maybe it's more stable and has a bit more grip because of the width. I don't drive my car hard. They look just right for the car tho. I am quite happy with it.

Yes, done by Gabriel. I went for the hybrid package ($680 for Mz3) as it is only $100 more than the ceramic package...

I saw on mazda website this feature is only FOC for 60 days. Did your FOC period finished already? BTW the below is extracted from mazda website (registration required). Seems like Live Traffic in SGP is not supported.

The services are available for the following countries:

Local Search: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Philippines
    Live Traffic: Malaysia, Thailand
Live Weather Information: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Philippines

Which service is this? the GPS or the wifi gps?

They called it 'Connected Services'. You need wifi for internet connectivity.

A little late but better late than never:

This is the mandatory child lock in the rear doors of the Mazda 3. Standard item.

Oh wait. I just realised you were referring to the child lock. I'll let you know when I check later. Or has anyone else noticed? It should be standard on all cars. It's at the locking latch on the door body.

Mine was booked early Oct. Did all the paperwork and preliminary payments within 2 weeks. Collected on the 7th. Soul Red Dlx sedan. I also traded in my old car - I think that plays a part cos they make more money thru that.

More stable is good. Well, most important is you like the rims and tyres and it gives you satisfaction when you drive it :D

Hi all, I'm new here and planning to get Mazda 3 for my first ride. How is the FC for the current model?

If budget allows, do you think Mazda 6 is a much better ride?

The car is primarily for my wife to drive to work and to bring the family of 4 out on weekends.

Hope to get some valuable insight before I decide. Thank!

    Hi RenRen85,

    Welcome to this forum/thread.

The FC for this 2014/15 Mazda is very good. I don't know why, 2 out of 5 people whom I shared my news of purchase with still think it's "chiak you" (fuel guzzler in Hokkien). I guess the damage to its rep was really bad until now they have to rebrand it skyactiv to tell people the FC is good. From what I read from the posts here so far the FC is much better than my Toyota due to the body, the iStop, ieLoop and the works.

As for which is better, the 3 or 6, this is a choice you have to make. Of course based on technical specs 6 is superior. But once you decide on the 6 do you go for standard or Elegance? It's never ending, there is always a better car out there. Most important is it fulfills your baseline standard and its within your budget. If you are talking about rear passenger space, since you mentioned family of 4, the difference between 3 and 6 is hardly noticeable according to my wife who sat behind when we test drove both cars.

    Cheers!

    Hi Fantastic_Duck,

Based on the spec provided by the manufacturers, Mazda 3 seems to have the best FC among similar models like kia forte k3 and hyundai elantra which is what I'm eyeing, low FC. But my concern for mazda 3 is its rear cabin which is known to be cramp. Glad that you have shared your experience on the rear cabin size of Mazda 3 and 6. and surprisingly they are similar. I have to go for test drive before I can really make a decision.

    Cheers!

I used that but some address and newer postal codes are not enterable unless using connected search.. eg. HillV2 postal code 667979.
Or how to add the new POI or enter that postal code using gps (enter last few numbers are greyed out...)? Plug in SDCard on PC but says no new maps updates avail... Am I missing something?

I faced the same problem too... For eg I searched for my new house in punggol which is not inside the map yet... Ended up I just search for the road name (thankfully it has been updated into the map) and navigate to that road. I tried to use the toolbox and same thing, it showed no new update is available. My SE said the update release will be very slow cos they need to feedback to Japan and after the software dev team update le then they will make it available for us to update.

Don't go for kimchi (just my point of view).. I have 3 friends who owned the cars you mentioned. They all boast about their kimchi ride (cos they don't want to lose face after spending so much). 2 years down the road they changed to Toyota Altis, BMW and Mazda. I wanted to suan them "I thought you say your car is so good? Why change?" Hard to resist, in case hurt their pride. The reason for the change was due to internal mechanics more than anything. These days Kimchi also is not very cheap but the interior has cheap plastics. Having said that I think they have made improvements over the years especially in design but I won't even consider Korean/China made. (Just my own personal preference, as I value reliability)... if you ask me I still trust in Japanese workmanship. Again that's just my 2 cents ..

Have you considered the Toyota Altis or Camry if space is your main consideration? I was deciding between Altis and Mazda but the interior of the former car put me off. It was "retro" in design to be politically correct.

Actually my parent ride is hyundai avante and did not have any problem for 6 years, so my exp with korean cars is not that bad. But of course, in terms of reliability, definitely Jap cars are much superior.

To me, Toyota Altis or Camry abit too uncle in terms of look. Haha and they are made in Thai as compared to Mazda in Jap.

Btw what is ur ride now?

The best way to install would be with construction/automotive grade Polyurethane sealant. Brands like Sika & Bostik have em. 3M tape nor silicone won't be as durable.
I'll never install anything irreversible, anything using drills to bore holes & welcome rust....Too OCD...hence, the conception of the relocator kit Fantastic_Duck has & will soon be sharing....
The ducktails & spoilers I've helped install have held against time & the elements...PU is proven & is hobo....just my 2cents.:)

No guarantee on color, anyway, I dont need the color as I was adding some design.

This is solid one piece, not the hollow ones, which somehow look filmsy & cheap.

Did you paid for it or managed to squeeze your SE for waiver?

My SE gave me $2k discount so I just used it to exchange for the extended warranty. Only managed to squeeze 3yr servicing from her. How about you and the rest of the guys here?

Did you mean on top of the warranty in lieu 2k discount, she gave another additional 2k discount? ie. in the price list as indicated guarantee coe or non-guarantee coe still give additional discount?

Me still waiting, went to check out the price on during the last car expo, they only give 1k petrol voucher. ie. listed price 108,999 and 107,999 and 1k petrol voucher only. wanting to bargain a little but the SE very firm.. so ended never sign the sc.

ya... the listed price is 108,888 & 107,888 (including CEVS, ex-stock & all the other in-lieu discounts) when I booked. She gave me 2k discount cos I was referred to her by my friend and when my friend booked his car a few days earlier than me, the old price list was 106,888 & 105,888. Wanted to keep the 2k discount and ask for free extended warranty & free 3yr servicing but I think it will be hard so in the end I paid 108,888 for the guaranteed package with extended warranty. haha.

If you want, I can PM you my SE you can try to bargain with her! :)

BTW did any of you guys get the free BP 2.0 in-car camera? You all got review the quality of the recorded video? Mine is very blur when parked under the hot sun! Is this a design flaw or is it my camera spoil?

Did you got solar film? With the tint, it shouldn't get too hot under the hot sun?

I read review that it does have image focus issue when it gets too hot...

Dear M3 owners, do any of you have vibration/jerkyness coming from the engine area and you feel it in the cabin whenever you engage to Neutral? (iStop switched off) ?

Do you mean iStop button is off? or that iStop button is on but just not activated?

Sometimes you get that very "faint" vibrations when it was not braked properly...try release the brake pedal and brake again...does it help??

Yes, got solar film but no matter how good it is, inside of the car will still get hot when you park under open surface carpark for a prolonged period. That's exactly what I observed. Picture went out of focus when hot and get better when it cool down. A lousy camera I would say... too used to Itronics superior quality already.

Our SE just apps us last night and said our delivery is confirmed for 18 Nov, finally! What about yours? Still on track for 17 Nov delivery?

Sis Momoechan, I received confirmation today. SE told me that he need time to prepare the car. So it will be 20th. I try to ask for 19th but he say must check thoroughly to do a good job.

He say give me priority, first to be towed from warehouse to Ubi but if you can get it on 18th then I am not in the priority right? I mean I also don't want to be an pain, and I should give benefit of doubt but maybe there is priority and there is priority, not all priority is equal.

So it Looks likely that I will be collecting 2 days after you which is no biggie. I haven't ask him when will it be registered, hopefully not today or yesterday.

So when did your SE reg your car?

JDM gave me v good discount cos I am getting 5 things from them. 1. 2 channel camera 2. bodykit 3. Spoiler 4. Door Sill plates 5. Door Visor

In the end I save quite a fair bit, based on my calculations.

That's good, can't wait to see pix of your ride after you've done it up.

Bro Fantastic_Duck, my SE said he'll register our car next Monday. Anxiously hoping for nice number now, fingers crossed. Wow, your SE quite busy, sales must be good after the car expo. Better remind him that he shouldn't register your car too early if you are only collecting on 20 Nov.

I do wonder about their "priority" too. Like have bros here who booked in Oct and collected car last week than why are you and me still waiting till neck becoming like the giraffe's? My SE also gave the same excuse that he wants to make sure everything Isis order before handing over the car. I guess that will be a consolation if all turns out well. Just to share some interesting data I become aware recently..
That is, the car's carrying payload capacity,
= Gross Vehicle Weight - Kerb Weight.

Surprisingly, Mazda 3 has the best of the lots...

    Mazda 3 1.5L = 1835KG - 1321KG = 514KG
    Toyota Altis 1.6L = 1630KG - 1205KG = 425KG
    Nissan Sylphy 1.6L = 1605KG - 1205KG = 400KG
    Nissan Note 1.2L = 1305KG - 1030KG = 275KG.

Imagine 5pax of ave 70KG each already 350KG... Mazda 3 still has a lot of buffer for carrying load in the boot before hitting over weight limits...

Agree that priority is just a term to assure their customer "they are working on it urgently". Every order also urgent, who to prioritize?... Haha

My wait was more than 3 mths... But it's worth the wait. Overall a good car vs my Altis ;)

Hmm missing screws - where to check that?
Did your SE give you the missing items later?

Btw for the headrest at rear seat, are there any screws or latch? Or just pull and push straightly with strength to adjust?

On my car seat there is plastic panels on the bottom left and right. Some are flapping when I drive and I discovered screws missing. Had them installed already. Car mat took a week to collect and it's almost 3 weeks now and still waiting for my shark fin.

Getting my new ride soon and also doing research on this too... I think the extra batt (carecell or something like that) is to provide the extra juice for parking mode monitoring.
Do correct me if i am wrong ;)

Also worried if there is any effect on the iEloop n etc... Any comments from bro n sis out there? Thks.

I planning to install the dash cam with extra battery too.

Mine 1 door plug missing....very angry! when I collected car and doing up my sound system, they found out for me!

Omg... Collecting my new ride very soon... Is the photo shows without the door plug?
Sorry sorry.. for asking as i will keep this in mind during the collection on how it should be look like.

    Interesting data...
Nissan Note carry 4x70kg max out already.

BTW have they included petrol weight? If not will be even lesser!

    Hi Minsanity,

For all the pics below, do you know whether the owners "lowered" their cars? They all look very good - there seems to be little gap between the edge of the wheel and the chassis of the car.

Thanks y'all for the warm welcome on here. momoechan, the car is aluminum metallic/liquid silver 38P.
I've also noticed that most are talking wheels on here. Please allow me to share some of our buddies'& a fellow revolutionist's...

All of those cars are lowered. It's impossible to get that kind of stance with stock springs.

Hmm... I think this is the standard version? Just a few thousand cheaper than getting from AD, I wonder who will buy from them?

The variant is slightly different from trans eurokars. Its with the 8" display but 1.5 version. The AD version is 2.0L.

Is anyone using the iRoad with the extra battery function? Is there any effect on our iEloop or Battery?

Do you mean extra battery pack connected to ACC or cig socket such that it charges during driving and provides power to camera during parking? If so, it shouldn't affect the battery or iEloop cos it means the alternator will be providing extra power (engine will experience more resistance, more fuel will be burned) for charging of battery pack.

If you are referring to those Uninterrupted power supply which taps directly from car battery, there's a higher chance your battery will undergo deep cycling. Although our battery is built to withstand deep cycling, but i believe it will shorten the lifespan of the battery. Having said that, I have colleagues who are using such devices with auto power cutoff and their car battery is ok. Maybe if they don't use this, their battery lifespan will be longer! How much longer IDK. heh.

I didn't see the 8" display in the pictures leh... you mean they add locally??

Saw this Alexa Sports 15C newly appear in the LTA omv list of car models being registered last month...

It's the model straight from Japan retail I think.... the fundamentals are differently tuned.

    HORSEPOWER 82kW(111PS)/ 6,000 rpm

    instead of 88kW (120PS)/6,000 rpm...
