If cruise control until got a car in front driving slower than your cruise-control-set-speed, then need to brake ownself...

I tried the cruise control in NSHW at 120 to 130 km/h.

IMO, it really dangerous to us as there is always lorriesor buses will dash out from your left.

It better to trust your own leg...:)

cruise control very sleepy one :s somemore without the braking thingy wait quite dangerous hahaha

Just sent my car for 5k service. Also file a 3rd party claim against the "PRIUS UNCLE".
Was told that the bracket holding onto the headlight washer was damage. A new replacement will cost $200 - $300 odd!!
Front bumper, repair will cost $800 odd (cash). Only a minor damage and they are charging an exorbitant amount!!!

So i question, how does the procedure for 3rd party claim be done and what will be my next course of action?

Mazda mentioned even for 3rd party claim, my insurance will need to investigate with the other party.
However if other party did not make any report within the time frame or deny any of this had happened, my claims will not get through?
Is that true? Submitting vid recording is not sufficient for my case?

Otherwise, that guy (filipino) who attended my case was trying to smoke me with his complicated accent.
Not being racist or being judgmental in any way.

Base on my own experience, He is correct. But AD will always want you to claim your insurance first. So they can start work immediately. But if you do so, and the old guy didn't report, in the end you will be claiming your own insurance. Which means NCD might be affected. My advice is if your car can move, let the old uncle insurance surveyor come down inspect your vehicle agree on the work and liability they gonna pay than you start your repair. If not you will become a cash cow for Both AD and insurance company.

Side note: my colleague car side folding mirror got broken into 2 at carpark. And Lucky he saw the culprit. But the culprit boss did not report to insurance , in the end , 2.5 yrs later the workshop called say cannot claim. Demand him to pay up and issue lawyer letter.

Hi Guys!!! Yeah, tomorrow going for my 1st servicing..1k super overdue! i am on 2300km mileage and 1k servicing not done. Our dear mazda 3 babe really 'yawns' loudly every morning when i first start the car.. here comes the super "GREY" Question!!

Do you guys wait for the engine warming up ('Blue LED') to disappear first before driving off or you drive off immediately after you start the car? Sometimes quite irriating to wait for the engine to warm up when you are late for work... hahaha

Have to wait for at least 2 mins before the babe is ready for you..

Come .. share share.. is there really a need for the engine to warm up before driving off?

No need. It's in the user manual. Warranty cover it.

Immediately after the accident, i hoped you filed the case to your insurer.

If u had done that, and uncle did not, this is what happen:
1, AD will most likely do 3rd party claim. As what mentioned by other bros, this will ensure they can get money back from your insurer.
2, Assuming u have proof u r winning the case, your insurer will file a case to the uncle's insurer. If uncle never report the accident, good luck to him. He will have to pay for the repair.

About point 2, I'm not sure will your insurer get a lawyer to claim from uncle. Else u will have to get your lawyer then. From my experience, if your car is sent to outside workahop to repair, they will engage lawyer to get the money back from uncle, or his insurer.

    Anyway, good luck.

No need to wait till the blue light goes off, you can drive gently and also note that iStop will not be activated when the car is warming up.

but you always has full control of your car even if you are in cruise-control mode...

just rest your foot on the brake instead of stepping the accelerator...

Yap you need to gauge the traffic on the road... if it is heavy traffic which you need to keep slowing down or accelerating up all too often... then no point cruise control...

No offence to those on performance tires... It will only be useful if u do tracking.

Imo, for daily commuting and with wet weather in Singapore context, getting a good grip tires for wet ground will make more sense.

Performance tyres are not good enough for track. Unless you are contented to just 5 rounds of Sepang with 1 new set of performance tyres (CSC5 or PS3 etc). Performance tyres are generally good for both dry and wet roads.

Tracking is best to go with track tyres, minimum semi-slick tyres.

Actually I find that if you accelerate hard...it can save more FC as it give the car the momentum fast to reach its sweetspot fast, than accelerating with a light foot slowly...Tried both to come with the conclusion, so now I just accelerate hard and the FC does not worsen..

24-5KM/L can achieve if you do trips on long HW at night...e.g. KPE, MCE, AYE... set your cruise control...

On average you will get about 14-5KM/L... 20% HW, 80% City Driving... after run-in...
    During run-in, average about 13KM/L...

Correct. Point is to get to the highest gear as quickly as possible. In auto mode, gear changes at abt 2200 rpm. No need to drive like an old grandfather. .:-)

    Bros,

In an unexpected twist of event, I ended up going to get my ride soon, real soon...

I am looking to get heat shield which I think it is used to protect the paint right? Where can I buy this and any recommendation on workshop to install this.

I also going for PPS. I wonder if there are slots before cny and how long will it take to complete the process?

For now, I can only think of these. What other "compulsory" items to get? Looking forward to your advices.

    Thanks thanks!

Pps is not useful for protection against chips etc but more for ease of maintenance (easier to wash, dirt wont stick so easily etc)..

Respray is a must but between the spray the car paint should be in a better condition with pps..

Yup agreed bro. Pps can only do so much for chips. Dont even mention about dent. If someone wants to make dent on the car, nothing can prevent it unless driving a tank. I do like easy maintenance using pps. For now i will diligently clean it. After my 3 min hotness vanishes liao, hahaha... So hopefully pps can help maintain the shine. And with the shine, it is also harder to see the chips if they are not too big

It's really up to you. The rubber 3M car mats is to trap dirt, so that your original cloth mat or carpet can remain clean. Since Mazda is giving you a set, then use it first. Ask your SE for contact or search online, should be quite easy to fine. 3M mats can last for many years.

Boot trays are great in many ways e.g. I keep an air tight container in my boot to put packed food cos don't want the smell all over my car. The raised ridges on the tray help to keep the container stable and not slide around so much when on the go.

Actually what is needed for the new ride differs for individuals. Some must upgrade wheel size, some goes for PPS, some goes for bodykit, some goes for performance mods.

It all boils down to what you want for your ride. For me, i bought the Mazda boot tray, sports pedals and sill plate before the delivery of the ride. After i collected my ride at LK, i went to stick some stickers immediately. Then went to PPS and then more cosmetic mods after that.

Thanks! Boot trays are not in my list as i am not sure of its uses. But since you mention about it, i will check it out.

Oh, something just came into my mind. Any leather protection lotion and moisturiser to recommend for car seats? And for the dash board?
    Got it! Thanks!!

I encountered a few situations during warming up. Sometimes the high rev will go off before blue icon (>1K rpm)goes off but sometimes the the blue icon goes off and the high rev (>1K rpm) is still there.

Sometimes the high rev can stay for awhile, sometimes goes off after 2s.

    Kinda erratic.

Haha he is not just a duck but a fantastic duck. Maybe you can pm bro Fantastic duck.

Dash cam = front cam. Instead of front car camera, some say dash cam.

Such scratches can be less obvious with touch up paint and lots of buffing. You can try turtle wax scratch removal and also Quixx.

I also like to know more about the cruise control. Lets say i set the cruise control at 90km/hr and the car is now moving at 90km/hr without me having to step on the accelerator. Then i step on the brakes to 70 km/hr. After that i release the brakes and havent step on accelerator. Is the cruise control still on at this point? If it is still on, will the cruise control accelerate the car on its own back to the 90km/hr that i have set?

Noob here so i think i would like to know to avoid being a menace to other road users.

When you stepped on the brakes while on auto cruise, the speed will not go back to the set speed. In fact it will also not auto cruise at that new speed that you slowed down to.

You have to either press up the speed or a reset button (Not sure is it called that).

Hmm thats high... slightly heavy footed is a non-concern but HW/City drive ratio is... most will get around ave 7+L/100KM....think it will get better after your 3 tanks run in...also try own manual calculation next time you pump...

For 75% city, it's expected that your fc suffers.. And also 25% highway is it very peak traffic?

Every time you step on the accelerator or brake, it will disengage the cruise control. To re-engage at the speed before you cancel, you have to accelerate again and press the up/set button like bro dcb had pointed out.

If you use 225/45R18 tyres on Mazda 3 (with stock tyres size at 205/60R16), when the speedometer reads 70mph, you're actually traveling at 70.78mph... This is faster than what is shown to you!

    225_45_18 speedo.jpg

    I changed to
    Rims 18"x8.0 ; Offset 45.
    Tyres :225-45-R18.
    Absolutely loving it.

I would recommend fitting with 215/45R18 tyres... but quite expensive due to less popular in SG market (odd size!!).

6+ probably has alot of highway driving.

But, for your case, it does seem abit on the high side maybe it will get better since only 3 tanks. Probably, your drives are short distances or your car has plenty of idle time.

Personally, I get ave speed 30 km/hr and 7.6L/100km with 10% highway driving.

Exactly right. So, once you change the size & overall ratio changes, all the calibrated readings are off eg you think your car is going faster or your fuel consumption got better etc....

haha, 7000km in already still same fc..

25% hw usually 30% is very heavy traffic

i guess it explains alot, find myself accelerating around 2.4-2.7k rpm for gears 1-2 then 2.3-2.5 for gears 3/4 then usually smoother out to cruising rpm before have to brake shortly due to city driving....

BTW, does anyone know where to buy plasti dip spray? Seen some DIY videos online on plasti dip emblems. Looks quite do-able.
