2014 Mazda 3 part 23

You will only find homecoming lights useful if you stay in big house or your area/car park is poorly lighted. In short, the car light still switch on for a period of time (i.e. 30s or 45s) after you lock your ride to in order for you to get into your house.

I had it in my previous ride but of not much use since my HDB MSCP is well lighted.

Mazda 3 have homecoming lights? That's new to me.

For those that are keen, found the Hood Insulator on Japanparts.comback on sale, but this is a 15 pieces deal. After adding shipping cost and dividing it by 15, each pcs cost around S$67. Those that are keen can find 14 other guys to share a group buy, its much cheaper compared to when I bought a single Insulator which cost about $100 with shipping cost. Just sharing (I've no dealing with Japanparts). Cheers.

Just to add that the two black square rubber protector seems to be optional, I cant find what is the purpose of them as they doesnt touch the engine bay body after closing the hood... not sure what is the purpose of them... lucky they only cost me US$1.50 each... ha ha

Bro Brainstorm you still planning to bring in bulk? If so I want one too.

Hi M3 owners, may I know how are you feeling about the engine power? and are you feeling noisy when you driving the car?

Just tested M3 1.5 yesterday and feel engine power is really not as good as Altis, and also feel a little bit noisy, but Altis is really good. Want to choose one between these two, not sure which one is better...

Thats what the SE said, because of this "new" feature, need LTA approval...lol

They should add in auto lock or RVM, guess more useful here than homecoming lights....

Indeed I would prefer the auto lock function when car is moving off. It's much convenient for drivera like me with young kids. The SE told me that even outside WS cannot activate this function.

follow yr heart, feel, brain and pocket. if you feel the altis is better, altis is for you. you dont need our opinions. our opinions of the car are in the reviews in the main car page. some like some hate. just take the one you feel you will like most.

Just finished my morning wash and found a dent...sigh... :(

No matter how hard I tried, I still got it just after two weeks of ownership. Interestingly, the dent was near the wheel arc which to me is considered harder than door panel. Wonder why folks just can't open their doors gently and be considerate.

So when do you guys got your first 'present'?

I am interested to know too, thinking to get bonnet insulator. Checked with AD and was quoted $260 excluding GST which I find its steep.

I follow bro brainstorm link to buy 1 at SGD$115 including shipping(sea). Still waiting for that item to arrive.

Bro Brainstorm you still planning to bring in bulk? If so I want one too.

I already bought mine at Japanparts at S$108 (before they revise the air shipping rate up from S$30 to S$45). If you can find enough people (15 pax), can try the Japanparts bulk sales, think that is currently the cheapest if buy 15 pcs. Else can try the PartSale, but I didnt try before. 'Noizer' posted the single pcs at Japanparts with the revised higher air shipping, but there is a sea shipping option that is cheaper. Need to ask 'Ahxiu40' if he try JapanParts or PartSale and if the delivery/item is prompt and good.

This is what I asked an UK Mazda technician some time back. But Eurokars claim that they can't do it... not sure if its don't know how to or really cannot enable this option..

test both cars right after the other.

In my opinion, the Altis is quieter when revved hard.

Power wise, i feel that both are adequate for daily driving.

Your decision may be dependent on the price/feature set as well.

Yes, when I get older, I will also go for Altis. Now I'll just go with Mz3 when I'm still younger (at heart). He he.

Good idea. I'm willing to support the write in. If we have enough names and vehicle numbers in the write in request, AD will likely take it more seriously too. I'm in!

Sorry, what I meant is that overtrade included - no inclusive of my car's scrap value.

Thanks Bro Ahxiu40. I noticed that the EMS for air freight is comparable to the other options but there was no delivery time/delay mentioned. Does that mean that the item will reached at the shortest time? I think it sucks that Mazda missed out such an important item.

There is a note on the confirmation email stating that they(Japanparts) do not keep ready stock. There will be a 5-10 day lead time for they to order the item. Thus I see EMS takes about 2 week will be just right as confirm by 'Noizer'.

    Hi

    Is it easy to fix?

Yes, its easy. Just becareful of slippy fingers dropping the plastic clips into engine bay. You can make sure engine is cool and use the insulator's plastic bag to lay on the engine so that it will prevent the clip from dropping into it. Our Mz3 engine bay is enclosed at the bottom and its difficult to fish out the clip.

Just a bit frus of the lack of clarity of information. My conversation can go like this

Is my car in Singapore already ---------------- Yes

When can I expect to collect it ---------------- Dunno, LTA not approved registration yet due to new feature (homecoming)

But I heard Deluxe HB approved liao --------- Is it?..Sure or not?

Haha..people collect car liao ------------------ Is it?...I go check

So LTA approved?------------------------------ My update is no leh.

Actually this is the first time, after many car changes, that I have to chase for update. All along, SE happy call me, got COE liao, Car registered liao, number plate, go buy 4D..come collect........All within 2 weeks of COE...:)

Very easy to install, if you refer back to the previous post by one of the bro. can even arrange a day to meet up to do a mass installation together!

Hi, if i may asked, what is the car plate series now?..still on SKS?...

kind of hoping to get a SKT as that is my wife's initial....lol

The new license issued to me is SKR but I retained my old no.

As far as know frm my SE b4 collection of my ride, the 1st batch to clear LTA was the 2.0 model. This was followed by the deluxe model which was cleared earlier this week. The standard models are yet to be cleared.

i took non-guaranteed package. talked to mazda sales again today, she's really unsure when, or even whether can get COE within 6 bids... especially with the surprising hike in last round. she says her boss gave the promotion price expecting COE dropping soon. but it is not happening...

i feel 50/50 chance i may need to continue with my 5 years old civic.... can't take the risk to buy any m3 parts now. later cannot use, can't put into my civic :P

Got it. Better not risk it. Have faith bro, they want to chiong sales too... Probably 18/3 will get the COE end April can collect car. Anyway I think the guaranteed COE is only a marketing gimmick for them to earn extra lol.

Loan wise based on my calculation is about $800 difference between Citibank and Hong Leong. I let the SE earn... Then can push them harder lol... Plus Citibank no RM to help. If smooth smooth its good... If not very jialat... My 2 cents worth... Insurance is AIG, which is my current insurer too...

    1K higher ? so much ? r u having 50% NCD ?

Do calculate the loan interest and the rebate carefully. Intended to pay full without loan but forced by SE to take minimum loan to qualify for the $1.5 k rebate. Minimum loan interest for 1 yr cost me ard $300+ so still got some saving after adding in the loan rebate.

For my deal, it was stated black and white on the sales agreement for 3+2 years warranty with unlimited mileage and free servicing (1k, 5k, 10k, 20k, 30k, 40k, 50k, 60k - which translate to 3 years if you hit 10k every 6 months)

    I have learnt that

    - Car sales executive has to strictly following the weekly pricing guide set by the company

    - Any addition discount will eat into his commission or his boss commission

    - It will be better to play around the pricing guide set by the company.

Last Sunday, the pricing guide by Mazda was

    1. Delxue M3: $134,888
    2. CEVS rebate: -$10,000
    3. Celebratory promotion: -$8,000
    4. Inhouse loan and insurance: -$2,000
    5. Trade in car: -$5000 (does not matter how old or bad condition your car is)
    6. Loyalty discount: -$1,000 (if you are driving Mazda now)

I qualified for item 1 -5, so the sell price to me is S$109,888 (3 years warranty, 1k,5k,10k servicing only). My SE upgrade the package to guarantee COE with no additional cost.

How I play the pricing guide to get my package

    • Tell my SE to remove the guarantee COE (additional 2k discount for me)
    • Include 60k or 3 years servicing (add 1k because each servicing is $200)
    • Throw in 2 more years of warranty with unlimited mileage
    • Throw in solar film (I think solar film is definately FOC no matter what)
    • Since I am on non guarantee COE, I ask them to adjust the COE rebate to get what i want (I doubt COE is going to fall below 48k within the next 6 bids)
    • I told them I am only willing to pay $107k for my package

So from $109,888 - $2000 (become non guarantee) + $1,000 (servicing) = $108,888. Still $1,888 short of my price. They then adjust the COE rebate from $48,000 to $46,500. With that, they can offer me $107,000

I think it helps that I told the SE I brought along my cheaque book and I am going to commit and that if the strike price is not met, I dont want to waste time to negotiate, I will just walk over to Kia and buy Forte K3 which is one of my 3 choices (M3, Jetta, Kia)

Hope this helps anyone who is looking to buy M3

Just to add that if you do not have any car to trade in, my SE told me he can stil fight for $3k to $4k of discount. So i guess the trade in discount is just an excuse to give you additional discount.

Normally for me, after getting all the stated discounts given, looking at the final selling price, worked out a price I am willing to pay, throw it to the SE and force him or her to decide fast, best on the spot. But you must be ready to commit (cheques or credit card ready)and not walk off and ask them to call you. I was able to get additonal $8K+ discount on top of all the given rebates.

Do you all think that with the hood insulator, there will be more hot air trapped within the engine bay?

I think it's fine as the engine is designed to cool by air intake and not use the hood as a giant heat sink. Some bros have installed the insulator as long as 6 months back. Mazda 6 has the same engine but comes with insulator. Not to mention that Mazda sell this at $260 per piece.

    Last piece still available!

Here's my case - Mazda 3 standard, existing stock

    1. M3 standard list price: 125,888

    2. cevs rebate: -10,000

    3. celebratory promo: -8,888

    4. non guaranteed coe: -2,000

    5. 3 year warranty (instead of standard 5 year): -2,000

    6. existing stock: -6,000 (existing stock colors white, black, and silver metallic only, not very popular obviously, but i found white quite good)

    7. in house loan + insurance: -2,000

aside from standard solar film and 3 year (or 60k) free services, they give dash camera

    final price 95,000

btw, bro, when are you supposed to trade in your car? they asked me to deliver mine within March... otherwise want to charge me 5k for their so called "profit loss"... but i don't think they can get my coe in next week bid leh.... just now text my SE plz help get my coe next Wed. she replies: good luck to you! :)

i think she's laughing at me when texting
