Hopefully my problem is as simple. Hard to imagine the wiper dash can cause tt loud metallic clunk. Also the sound seemed to come from the base of the car, not front.. Anyway called mazda and fixed my appointment with them this fri. Keep you all posted.

Its not the plastic. Its the metal bracket which is welded to the A pillar & cowl plate. Its the joint thats causing this problem as there's no clearance when they were welded. Anyway, its a small problem (though irritating) which Mz Jpn has already provided the solution for.

    Hi All,

Have anyone encountered that the infortainment of our Mazda 3 hang sometimes?

I used to listen to USB very oftenly. i had encountered a few times while driving, the device suddenly hang (No sound), the play bar stopped and no matter how you forward, backward, pause, no use at all.

So i switched to FM, FM is okay (But sometimes, even in FM, the system is like hang up there).

The only way to make everything back to normal is shutdown the engine and start the engine again.

I feel something is wrong with the firmware but my car collected in september, should be the latest firmware right?

    Thank you

Common problem,Mazda 6 also the same, usually got sound after alot of wet driving. [furious]

Yeah, was crossing a big hump in the rain, there is this metallic sound which was not heard during dry conditions. During dry condition, when go through the hump, there is this DOK DOK sound.

Today, went to Mz Svc, they changed my lower arm bushings for me. I was told the bushingsconnecting the lower arm to chassis is very hard.

However, on my way back, Ithink I am still hearing the DOK DOK sound when crossing over the hump. Will monitor a few days and update. Maybe, like what has been discussed before, it is the wiper joint?

Some Mazda owners has complained about this problem in the early may this year. Quite surprised that almost half a year still not solved yet. Most probably is the design flaws.

Nay .... all cars are not durable. All mechanical parts must be replaced.

IT is a matter of economical viabilities.

Drive car like TRD must expect TRD level / cost of maintenance.

Some ppl are just more bo chap than others, thats all.

All cars will have some nitty gritty secrets wan lor ... it is up to the users to accept or not.

The recent HONDA airbag recall is one of them.

High profile ones are LEXUS mat issue that killed a few ppl in USA.

At least this DOK DOK , CREAK CREAK sound dont kill ppl. That is more important.

MITSUIBISHI is another victim of a high profile scandal as well.

Mercedes even publicly demonstrates their "design flaws" on youtube of their A class on the MOOSE test on their 1st batch but no one died la.

Sounds like a faulty / incompatible configurations thumbdrive/SD card, loose connections (USB/SD) somewhere or the faulty infotainment hardware.

I also using a thumbdrive too ... format as FAT32.

Go here to download the toobox:

    https://mazda-na.nav...ortal/downloads

To use it, you need to remove the SD card in the car and put into in the PC/laptop that you had installed the tool.

The program will need to access the SD card to connect to their main server.

Hi all, AD just secured my COE, but told me that my car is still on its way to SG. ETA early next month then can collect car. Any advice on the things to look out for when collecting the car? Also things that you discovered after a few months later but could have checked on your collection day if you know what to look out for? Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Agreed but it is torquey. Maybe It is programmed to save the gear box I believe.

Yup, for the first 2 gear. Really slow. Before that I been driving manual car all my life.

Most of the auto car cant match manual car. U will find the initial acceleration to be slower or not as responsive as manual version.

The new Honda Jazz 1.5 with powerful 130bhp engine and light 1.0 ton car frame is quite close to manual pickup, can go try.

Personally i dont feel its under power until it hits abt 120. Agree tt its torquey and more than enough to accelerate the car with passengers. Quite amazing tt its 1.5L only. Prev car is ford escape 2.3l - maybe tts why. Lol. For M3, i just rev more if I need to, engine sounds nice too.:) however i thk thr best is not the engine but the gearbox.. Somehow it just gets into the right gear and fast. Example when going up slope, it seems to know and holds the low gear longer. Might be my imagination too.

I hope it solved your clunk problem, though it didnt for me. Only after I made the TSB rectification (fr the Mz US) then the problem went away. But, if your car is mfg after Aug '14, then the problem shd have been fixed in factory.

    Hi bro,

Seems that the sound never really go away after driving for a while today. Can still hear some sound coming from the front when going over humps. Sounds like when I was on my coilovers when I did not set it hard enough...haha

Is it easy to rectify the wiper crowl plate? Seems not so easy when I read through. Did you do it yourself?

It would be good if can turn off the DSC though...don't think our car will fishtail in the wet..given its power and being a FWD car...

    Seems like what I experienced.

The instructions are pretty good. You need to remove the bonnet, then wiper then the plastic panel. The one tough part is removing the bonnet. To access the area, you need to have a screw driver that is long even & a hammer (preferably rubber head mallet).

I didnt remove them but only moved out the plastic panel to access the problem areas. This is ok for the left side side but for the right, its tricky as there's no much area to work with.. You shd also protect the areas at the bonnet chassis to prevent any accidental scratches. As my problem is more pronounced on the left side, so its ok.

Unless you are used to DIY, I wld suggest sending back to Mz & show them the TSB.

There are 3 switches on the right driver's panel... namely iStop, TCS, AFS. You can turn them off & it shd reflect on the display. For me, I wld probably leave it on when road is wet or if its raining.

Bro, thanks for your kind advice. I will look through the instructions again with regards to the TSB. Probably, I will take this to Mz.

With regards to the switches, yes, you are right. I think only TCS is de-activated when you off it but the DSC is still permanently on.

If we press that button for 10 secs, you can't off the lights anymore and it is in diagnostic mode for the TCS meaning it is fully on after that.

No problem. Happy to share. Remember to use the latest TSB as I believe there are at least 3 revisions since Jan.

I think there's only 1 switch for TCS/DCS combined. If I recall from the manual, its supposed to control both. Nvr tried pressing for 10s.

If you read some of the earlier posts in this thread, quite a few guys here faced the same problem but got the COE in the end. So what you faced seems a common issue with Mazda AD.

My guess is they just put in a token bid or in some cases, no bid at all till the stock is here then they will bid seriously. Of course if COE goes up too high then you may not get it in the end but personally I still feel you will get it but have to be patient I guess :D

If your car is not built or not here yet, the bid they submit is just for show. You would not want them to do nothing after you booked your carand paying the deposit right?

Also, why secure the COE now for you when they cannot deliver you your car any time soon. They might as welluse "your money" more wisely [thumbsup].... :D

So depend on when your estimated delivery date, you may secure your COE at your fifth or last try :D Unless the COE really go haywire otherwise I doubtthe agent would not wantyour business. Maybe they ask you to top up [knife].....then it is your call!!

Mz is a small company compared to Honda/Toyota/Nissan. They only mfg in Jpn unlike the bigger companies where they are made in TH.

So, they do have a bottleneck in terms of fulfilling demand esp for this new range of cars where its been a great hit & the demand is much greater than what they planned for (its not just SG, which is not a big mkt for them).

My suggestion is that if you really like the car, just go for guarantee bid. No one will know how COE will go but by the trend & the strong demand going into year end & CNY, its unlikely to go down, unless you have no urgency.

Thanks bro, the one I get is extracted from the version you have attached.

Yeah...better send to Mz, its on warranty. For me, its just interest & personal touch. [rolleyes]

Yeah...better send to Mz, its on warranty. For me, its just interest & personal touch. [rolleyes]

Early paint problem from engine heat? Don't think Mazda paint so jialat right? Furthermore we park our cars under the sun also same. Don't think it insulates the Engine noise from cabin too.

Bought online (ebay & ali), couple of sqm to insulate not just the bonnet but also wheel arches, boot areas, & parts of roof & door. Now, the sound is not so intrusive. For a heavy car, the metal is really thin, probably all the wt is in the frame, which explains why it gets such high crash ratings.

Its normal for cars nowadays to use thin panel. The panels are there to cover up the frame and for aerodynamic purposes only. Like the Toyota Tundra in US also. Super thin panel.

We are already paying a high price and yet feel short-changed. As consumers, we should be demanding the dealer to give us models which is quite standard in other country. The TCS part of DSC. Go watch Top Gear & it explains why...gotta do with TCS reducing engine pwr &/or braking to reduce wheel spin.

Anyway, I wld agree no difference for normal driving, but if you want to do century sprint, then for sure there's a difference, & have tested it & felt the difference.

To me, all these functions are totally useless in Singapore, by adding them, will only jack up the car price further. Everyday I go to work, I just turn on the engine and go. Even when it comes to parking, I never even use the reverse sensor. Mazda 3 is such a small car, very easy to drive and park. All you need is abs and airbags.

I always turn off mine, very annoying especially first 2 gears. Keep cutting the power. For a good everyday car, the electronic aids must not be intrusive, if not, it's annoying. Fwd car wheel spin never mind one and it's hard to lose control. Traction control only useful for high powered rwd cars.

For high powered AWD, I can't even slide a 200+bhp legacy with TCS off by flooring it with full lock.

Enkei is light n good. I have change 2 set of enkei on my previous ride. Buy Original no point replica.

Hi guys, I dont recall seeing any 12v socket around the dashboard. There is only one socket under the armrest. Is that correct? How do you guys connect your DVR camera? (I don't plan to connect it directly to the battery) From the US user manual, both the USB and 12v socket under the armrest won't turn off after you off the ignition... Is that true? Thanks.

It will turn off so not relevant to us.

I am using the 12V car socket for my 5Vdc DVR.

Anyone change after market exhaust system?

Will changing to 17 or 18inch rim with potenza re11a improve the handling?

Do not change the original manifold if you're changing to after market exhaust system.
The manifold is specifically design for the high compression of this car.

I'm still using the stock rim and tires first. Wear it down first, cause if I trade in the brand new and original tires also not much value. Might as well use it till its worn.
