how long does the servicing take?

for example if I drop off the car in the morning, by what time they will ask you to collect.
Reception told me about 3.5 hours. But must also consider Lunch time 1 hour.
My SE told me if install camera outside will void the warranty.
In that case, I am force to buy their 1 channel camera.
Anyone installed outside and SE said okay with warranty?
That's what my SE told me, that's why I told her to give me the in car cam lol!

I bought my own camera outside, but its plug in to cigarette socket type, visited the service center 3 times liao and the guys didn't say void warranty leh.. I complained that the software not stable and they still update for me... :-P

Haha, did she throw in the car cam? I feel a bit pai sei to ask for more freebies given that Mazda profit from my deal is eroded to 8k due to the sudden surge in COE.
Is anyone collecting the car soon? Does anyone know when is the next shipment coming?

I can get mine on 20th May after getting the COE this round
Can I check if there will be car washing / detailing done for the 1K free servicing by AD? Due for it next week so I don't have to bother washing car this weekend if there is.

Thanks.
Every servicing they will be car wash.
I think in your case is too late bro, have to ask for it before committing!

This is because yours is plug in type and those not hidden type.

I'm so used to the dangling wire, that I also use the plug in type. It was because of the way it was installed some time ago, by tapping from a wire with power. The two sockets in the hand rest are useful for front and rear cameras. Also no invalid warranty issues.

The tapping from fuse box would be neater though, but too much of a bother for me to go to the workshop.

If you just had car treatment, e.g polishing, waxing etc. Tell them to justuse water. I learnt that from my previous car. I forgot to tell them and ended up having to send for repolishing.

They just use the soapy ( car wash liquid?) stuff which removes everything.

There is also something useful to have. NTUC sells the spray for waterless washing. I used one by Turtle Wax. It is very useful for bird shit and those dirt you get near the wheel arches and bumpers after driving in the rain or on wet roads. Just spray and wipe with a soft cloth. Use tissue paper for bird shit though. Some use wet tissues, but they arenot as effective.

No detailing, just a simple wash. When I sent my car in for the 1k service, it was quite dirty and the service centre guy said that they would wash it for me and they did.
Thanks fellow Mazda bros for the advice on car washing.

I am also interested to get the in car camera (Phillips) installed by the AD during the servicing. Can I check if the camera has parking mode (recording while car is parked)?

Car wash included for all servicing
Paint protection coating should be fine right?

Depends on the kind of protection, but the shampoo will still affect the protection. That is why even with the protection you still need to go for six monthly or annually re-coating. So if your car can be clean with just water, it is unwise to use the shampoo, especially the snow-washing. There is a special shampoo washing, some called it nano-wash. Much more expensive than the ordinary wash, but it retains the shine and smoothness. I doubt Eurokars will use that during the servicing wash! For the Italian supercars perhaps.

Now many car parks are multi-storeyed. It helps the paintwork to last longer too. Less UV from the sun, and less bird shit. Bird shit is acidic I think. It cuts through the paintwork.

The other problem are the flowers of the raintree. Tiny pinkish flowers with lots of filaments. Usually it will stick to the paintwork and then stick dry under the sun. It can leave marks which needs polishing to remove.
Thanks fellow Mazda bros for the advice on car washing.

Most camerascan record during parking,as long as there is power. But better install a switch so your battery will not drain when you don't need to. Even with motion detector, it will still drain your battery.

Many car parks these days have cameras, due to the loan shark and hit n' run problems. So, generally, you don't need to record while parking. But asking HDB to view the recording, you need to make a police report first.
If you need camera to record while parked - it needs a power source. One way is tap directly from battery, there fear here is short in the camera which will cause battery to drain out. The other way is the camera itself have separate battery source. So when you buy the camera, make sure if you need to purchase a separate device for power during parked mode.

The other thing, most camera installation is not tapped from batter NOR tap from fuse box. Installer just tap from start wire. I'm not sure how "official" mazda will do it, maybe someone can update here. I do not think they will do any differently. Means they just tap from wire. Going all the way to fuse box complicate things too much.

The warranty thing - there's too much mis-information out there .. so definitely not a topic for me to comment on. Just do whatever you're comfortable with.

Actually to hid the camera wires is very simple, 15mins job. Just search on YouTube for reference on how to install and hide the wire.

How much is the damage each time? My soon to be scrapped Toyota, I can't even be bothered about regular washing..
How much is the damage each time? My soon to be scrapped Toyota, I can't even be bothered about regular washing..

Ordinary washing like the snow wash would result in the paintwork losing the smoothness. It will look clean but when it rains, water will not flow as smoothly as after the paint treatment. In other words the car gets dirty very fast. Sometimes, when too lazy ( as usual because to me the car is my slave ) but I dislike the dirt, duringvery heavy I would purposely park in the open. Free car wash. heheheheh

The nano wash costs about $60 according to a friend. I have no use for it because of my contract with Shine Shine in JB. I think the nano wash is under the Sonax brand.

If the car is about to be scrapped, unless it is the kind one can export ( e.g. parallel imported from Japan ) there is not point in caring too much about it. To me what is more important is the interior cleanliness. That is the air you breathe. Thus I go for regular vacuuming, without exterior washing.
Once u wash at petrol station.. Then no help already.. The cloth they use to wipe ur car would have scratch the paint work

Yes, thanks. I'm just not adventurous enough lol.

Also at times I used the power cord for my Garmin GPS. It is more up to date with twice yearly updating of maps for lifetime. I find it very reliable, even locating little known places in Malaysia.

With the dangling cord, my passenger can hold it in his hands and be my navigator. In some places in Malaysia, and during peak times, one can't even take one eyes off the road to look at the GPS. The Kamikaze motorcyclists ( some just kids with no riding licence ), zip around like mosquitoes.

Lol..I just plug out the usb cable when I parked.

That's a smart alternative. :-)
I have two questions on the navigation system provided by Mazda

1) Is the map subscription 1 year or 3 years?
2) Does the navigation system take real time traffic condition into consideration when calculating the routes?

If you want real time, use Here Maps by Nokia on your smartphone.

They supply the base software and maps for BMW, Ford, Honda and other major car brands :)

When no data, voice navigation still works like car units. So it means you can use your phone on a drive in Europe when you're renting!

I find navigation system which comes with the car, pre-installed, not satisfying. Usually out-dated, especially for places where road changes quite often like Singapore, Melaka, KL, Penang. In NZ, you can use old maps and it is still fine.

I was once in Melaka, and the map showed I was driving in the sea! lol. It was a not so new road leading to Klebang where the submarine museum is.
Just the other day, after starting the car, the navigation system wasn't loaded up. I had to take out the SD card and put it back in before things worked as per normal. Anyone encountered this hiccup before?

Anyway, currently on 6.4litre / 100km. still running in. probably 1.5 more weeks to the first 1k servicing.

Learnt how to drive this car effectively. the pick up isn't that bad actually.
This always baffles me on what's the name of the town, and i can't proceed. I end up googling first for the postal code of the place/cafe/mall/house i want to go to.
How else to overcome this "Town" thing ?
Thanks.

In that case, it would be wise to make a backup SD card, just in case. Can get corrupt if it happens often. Going back to the agent is also not always convenient.
Our Mazda Navigation, to find new address, need to key in "TOWN", if do not know the postal code.

Most GPS would do the same. Usually it would refer to the area, e.g. Bedok, Any Mo Kio etc. It is the same when in Malaysia. Just typing Johor Bahru, will not work. You need to type in province e.g. Muar, Batu Pahat, for Country! Then the district, e.g. Ulu Tram, Bukit Indah etc, for the town.

I think it is because of similarpremise number being used.
After reading all these posts about Mazda navigation, I am so glad I got the standard model without it. I suck with tech and if I had it, it would probably drive me crazy.

you can click on search & it will provide you a list of all the towns, scroll to the one you need. Though I must agree that this step makes better sense for a geographically larger country with clearer town demarcation.

The Mazda AD quite jialat... Coe secured on 6th may.. Till now still dont know when can collect car For existing stocks.. Cannot Imagine how the aftersales going to be like.

I got my coe on 6th may as well. 2 days later, my SE called to inform me car pickup on 20th may. Today i went to pay the remaining deposit, saw another guy also collecting on 20th may.

In today's fast changing world, you really need a GPS. If not you'll end upon one day driving around in circles.
Actually, you can filter by places, just type in the company name or shopping centre name, then search. It works for both Malaysia and Singapore

Very true, but people's homes do not have building names. That's why you need the residential township name.

In Malaysia, several places have the same name! That's why you need to choose the `country', which actually refers to provinces, like Port Dickson, instead of Negeri Sembilan.

If this is true, perhaps we can from a consumer group and put pressure on Eurokars. I haven't gone for the 5k yet. Still a distance away. Going to ask if I do my servicing at Mazda JB, will the warranty be void. If so why?

If it is the plugging into the power socket kind, it will not void warranty. That's what the sockets are for in the first place.

If map is for just one year, it means they are going to make money from the annual subscriptions.

To be fair, most cars come from Japan rather bare. The seats head rests even aircons etc are installed locally from original parts imported as spares because they attract lower taxes. Fully installed, these parts would be subjected to the ARF.

Then comes the polishing, because the cars have protective coating during shipping. You can see them at PSA wharves, all dull like covered with dust. After that, the testing to see if everything works fine, and if not, the fixing comes in. Registration, instance cover, number plates and finally delivered to you.

Don't forget the rear camera. It is worth installing. It deters tail gating, especially by lorries when they see you have a new car. Rear cameras catches the driver behind you, and it's quite unnerving to the tail-gaters.
At times you can even see them quickly hiding their mobile phones and putting on their seat belts!
Maybe I really have to consider getting an old tech workhorse like sylphy which is spacious, good fc and easy and cheap to maintain outside...
My 8yrs old latio has zero problem with outside servicing , just the norm wear and tear replacement..

Your SE sounded a bit sarcastic. I can understand your frustration. Spend 100k on a car so naturally expect better service.
Problem is out of the 100k, 60+kCOE and 20k ARF goes to Govt. So end up AD only take 20kout of 100k. In the end, give only 20k worth of service to us.

Hello bros,
I just sent in my car for a check and the technician confirmed the sound is a normal. The sound will appear when I start the engine and press the accelerator. There will be 3x clak sound coming out from in front the driver. Thereafter, drive as per normal and no more sound.
At first I don't believe it is normal. Then I test drove another car and it has the same sound as well. In fact the sound for this car is louder than my car.
Seems that I'm the only one here to hear it. Either my hearing is too good or I'm too paranoid. Haha

Any other bro has this issue? Mine(1.5 delux) has the similar problem.
Three clicking sound after cold move off and press accelerator. Mine friends' ride (same module) no this issue.

My package come with 5 year free servicing or up to 100K whichever come first. Does all those items include in the free servicing package?
I think that is the grey area..... they only say free servicing. but no mention of free consumable?

Maybe some one can enlighten us.....

I am currently driving vios. This is one reason why I have yet to commit to mazda. And to have the warranty, you die die must service with AD.

My SE is challenging this claim.. He say if possible.. He will gladly transfer my deal to that SE..
Guess its more of a SE problem rather than mazda.. Judging from his response.

expected mileage should be 50km or less.. if all done in house. most likely 20km or less.

============================
Mine is free servicing up to 60k..will go to 20k servicing soon.
at 10k servicing, it is totally free including the oil filter and tires rotation.
One thing for sure that the brake pads at 40k servicing won't be FOC.
When you are sending your car for servicng, ask for the copy of the servicing schedule at the counter, I have a copy of that and have to dig it out. As far I remember, 10k, 30k etc servicing is 300+ and 20k, 40k etc servicing is 400+. And one thing I would like to highlight is that I did not see any schedule for ATF change!! Maybe , the bros here can find out more

Hi I secured my COE on 8th April, collecting mine this weekend. I guess the choice of color play a part in the waiting time (mine is soul red).

soul red apparently is out of stock and they are waiting for the april production to arrive in May.

I wanted soul red then but told of this situation so took the titanium instead. Got the car 10 days from the time I secured the 2nd round April bidding.

Noise insulation not that significant, maybe you should hear for yourself. I'm staying in the east, if there is a need you can also pm for a kopi session to hear it yourself.
in short you are actually 'paying' for your warranty with high mark up charges.

Has anyone gone outside to service their mazda with skyactiv technology and risk the warranty?

previously for my Subaru, I only serviced with them for 1 year and subsequently it's to the Shell petrol station to do the regular engine oil and filter changes.

Bro,
I private you my SE name and car no...he can challenge but make sure he promise to give you 5 year free servicing and commmision goes to my SE first.
5 year free servicing is up to 60k right?

Should be existing stock as I remember SE said the colour that i want is still available. I didn't really care whether is it existing stock as I am not in a hurry for the collection.
5 year free servicing is up to 60k right?
60k is based on 3 yrs
I was given free serving up to 10k km. I top up 1k to get 5 more servicing till 60k km which works out about $200 per servicing.

I wonder how is included and excluded.

Anyone got the free 5 years or 3 years servicing deals and doing their 20k km serving. What is free (engine oil) and what is chargeable?

From what I know, only labour is free. The rest of the consumables/wear & tear stuffs are chargeable.

I have also topup $1k to extend the free servicing to 60k. What I was told is it cover labour and material for those jobs listed in standard schedule, which sound logical. Similar, for first 3 servicing, you don't pay for filter and engine oil, right.

That's expensive for an ordinary person's car. Does anyone know the charges by agents of other brands?

Noted the one by Borneo Motors.

As a group we can put pressure on Eurokars, to bring down the price. Perhaps if there is a Mazda 3 club, we can all join in and negotiate better deal. But if other agents are doing the same, not much chances, especially if we don't want to void the warranty.

I don't drive up north and Singapore roads are not a problem. streetdirectory is good enough for me.

That's why I took the $2k discount for only 3 yr warranty. no need for 5 years.

After paying so much, not driving up would be a loss. Our cars are meant tobe driven long distances, not our stop and go traffic.

Mazda just organised a Melaka driving trip. But AAS' would be better. It organises lots of trips, short ones, like the Melaka & Cameron Durian trip, as well as overseas.

Convoy driving is very safe, as there is always a guide vehicle behind the last one. Assistance is always at hand. Police also do not generally stop the convoys, due to AAM -AAS relationship, and one will not get lost. Everything is prearranged, from food to accommodation.

If I can only drive in Singapore, I'll be frustrated.
I bought the standard version at $99k last year May, never negotiate for lower price
