sorry if this is a stupud qn: how do you reset the FC meter?

If i recall correctly, goto Fuel economy monitor screen, there's reset & setting icon at the bottom.

goto setting icon to set sync to trip A.

you can use the reset icon or manually with the knob at the instrument panel (which also adjusts the illumination).

I had the same problem also (rain or shine), sent in to AD and get them rectified the problem - changed lower arm bushing. Noise still persists though much better than before.

Anyone experienced vibration noise when stepping on the brake when car is stationary orwhen engaging reverse gear? Not sure if its due to aircon compressor or mounting issue.

You have to learn to coast the car. Don't constantly step the pedal, once I reach the target speed I want to travel at, I will release the accelerator, or control such that I see on the current FC info on the right of the console it is well below the 6L/100km, this will help bring down your average FC. Also, learn to use the engine to brake since our Mazda 3 has more engine braking due to the deceleration caused by the drive converting kinetic to potential energy. Everytime I drive, it's like a game I play to drive more fuel efficiently, my middle screen is set to the fuel consumption screen to show the average for this drive and my driving console to current...

Hi, am interested in what you mentioned above. Please explain in more detail, on how to reduce fuel consumption (coasting the car, engine braking, Eloop, etc). Thanks.

I have the vibration sound issue when engaged on foot brake during stationary. SA told me it is a piece of rubber near the engine. He is not sure whether it is the engine mount or not. But it has since been resolved.

Do agree the eng start stop feature is a bit startling. Test drove a while back and that sort of prevented me from committing. Also felt vibrations when I was sitting behind. Otherwise it is a handsome ride. Pick up is slow to me though but granted for it's weight.

Yes with the 5k "over trade" discount its about the market rate. But some of the bros here got the discount even if they don't trade in, and selling their cars to 2nd hand dealers at market rate.

How does the overtrade work? Assuming I am taking minimum loan and the rest in cash. Is it outright discount? Confused over what does overtrade mean

car price at $120K ... give you $20K overtrade ... you can take x% loan x $120k as loan is based on car price
car price at $100K ... no overtrade ... you can take x% loan x $100K only

    1. to increase loan quantum to help budget tight buyer
    2. to help buyer who has outstanding loan to settle the old car and buy new car

    .......
Found out the answer. Then this overtrade is useless to me as my car is fully paid up and I can pay in cash, as in not cash tight.

For me it works as an outright discount. They are not adding in so that I paid less deposit and take more loan. $120k price - "over trade" - misc etc etc then the final price to decide how much is cash and balance loan. Maybe they already inflated the selling price to include the "over trade". If so, those who didn't nego the "over trade" will lose out.

    1.48% is really low.

    Housing loan is 1.78%

Cheaper to take a loan for a car than a house.

Picked up my car today and everythint went smoothly.

Happy with the drive. I find acceleration softer than my previous Impreza 1.5r and pick up is adequate for local roads.

Think this would be the best bang for buck car in this class.

One full tank of petrol at Ron 95 also lesser than my Impreza too.

Did anyone install the invehicle camera from AD? Think it's Philips?

Never experience any noise, but during idle, I can feel some vibration like for a second and then it goes off. This happens occasionally. During my 1k servicing I told them about it but they say just monitor and see whether it gets worst.

The vibration is quite mild but I can feel it when in idle and I press the brake, it kind a feels like engine about to stall but milder then when it actually stalls? Haha dunno whether anyone will understand what I am saying..

    Hi all,
It will be a long post. Thanks for your patience.

Pointers for owners that will be collecting their car soon.
    1) make sure the solar film is install properly. Especially the corners. I had one corner that seems to be peeled off. Unable to stick back. Called my SE and all I have to do is either mention it during the first servicing and they will touch up or go straight to rikecool for the repair. (There are ought to have some bubbles when install. So it's up to individual if you mind)
    2) the front passenger floor mat bottom right corner can't seems to be fully "clicked" or flushed with the floor. SE told me it's a known issue with no solution. Went to see other new cars beside me and it's the same. The remedy for now is to place the free floor mat over it and "hide" it. (Anyone else managed to "squeeze" it back?
    3) some new owners might be thinking what can they do for their paint protection( cause that's the first thing that I worried when I collect my car) when they collect their car. There are many products and workshop out there that provide these services. And I was once confuse which and what products to go for.before I say which product or workshop I choose, maybe it will be better if I tell u what's my selection criteria and how not hardcore I would treat my car down the road. (Some people would have different expectations)

I'm looking at a product that requires the least maintanence (ie, minimum washing/minimum going back to the workshop for touch up/able to last at least 2 years/with warranty). After all the forum exploration, I submit to the fate that there is no product (currently) that allows the owner to just apply the product and have zero maintanence on it. Minimally I need to risen my car with water onces a week+apply the "wet tissue" technique on the bird dropping(within 24hours of impact). So my selection criteria went down to; no need to go back to workshop for touch up,able to last at least 2 years, have warranty and BUDGET.

Now let's talk about products out in the market. There are film, cs2,ceramic or glass.
For budget wise glass:350-450 cs2:800-1000 ceramic 900-1100 ( all these are the basic tier of course if u want those high tier then it will cost much more)

So all in all, after all the criteria I set for myself. I settled down to glass. Which is able to meet all my requirement. Just collected my car from the workshop today and from my honest opinion, it really shine much better compared to the original shine when I first collect my car. Those who are interested in which workshop I send it to,feel free to pm me. I'm genuinely happy with my selection and only time will tell if it last as long as it advertise.

Once again, I hope this post did help some owners out there. And thank you for your patience. :)

Just sent my car to do the coating at Detail mania. Why I chose them amongst the many ? Not sure also but when I called them to ask about the services, they gave me a detailed explanation on what is being done. I guess I'm just comfortable with them.
Just that the location is a bit out of the way.

Anyway does anyone sometimes have slow response on the touch screen on the display?
So far really like the whole drive.

The cabin is quieter than my previous subaru 1.5R.

Wife could even fall asleep while I'm driving, last time she said the car is too noisy.

The drive has been quite engaging. My initial doubts are unfounded.

But previously being used to manual, this car is making me lazier!

You can use the Auto-Manual gears to drive!

You just need two of these to filter away the noise, one at each end of the USB power cable.

    Hi

Thanks. May I know where I could get hold of those?.

My video recorder power is taken from the fuse box I gather. So I probably have to ask AD to fix up for me. Lol, I am not really a practical person.

always have this problem from the beginning of Mazda 3

    2) Replacing noisy stock tires to comfort tires to decrease road noise? - Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

just drive, unless u want michelin or pirellis

    3) Vibration issue during idling at traffic light? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

dun think its fix, likely to be i stop

    4) Stock Wiper Juddering issue? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

honestly, is this a problem to consider buying the car?

    5) Unknown paintwork damage? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

Original Mazda 3, always have scratches and dings cause by stones throw up from rear wheels, SP hide it by installing bodykit, then the bodykit kena!

    6) Slow reponses of center console UI interface? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

    basic model no interface

    7) Center console updated firmware improve overall usage? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

    basic model no interface

    8) Any more to add ? please update here... thanks.

From my extensive test drive of my courtesy car and my experience with SP

4 days in the new 3, i am so tempted to change car! absolutely trashes the SP in terms of pick up and consumption.

engaging drive, slow gear shifts as usual ;p

Feels much better than the koreans and sylphy which i drove for a week (but i love the space.)

Prefer the heavier steering and the lower front seats of the SP though

why did mazda switch back to bulbs instead of LEDs?

2 issues which is stopping me from booking:

Noise at pick up revs: its LOUD during warm up and loud when u wanna be aggressive. and not sporty loud

    istop vibrations at idle

    1) Knocking sound from car suspension? - Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?

Mine initially had that knocking sound when I negotiated a rather large hump.

Then it disappeared totally. Asked them to check during 1k servicing, rode with the technician / engineer(?) over several humps, no knocking sound. Could bethe running in. Anyway told them to lubricate if necessary.

Till now, no knocking sound. Perhaps must try the large hump again. But that was an illegal one in JB.

Whatevercar you drive, the instant humps at the checkpoints are really a pain in the xxxx. Wonder who the idiots were who decided on those humps.

Now after two days of city driving and some mild expressway drives, i'm doing 8.2l per 100km. so that's about 12km per litre. not too bad while running it.

I will probably get better FC since I do expressway driving most of the time to and fro for work.

I just fixed up my blackvue 2-CH at JDM autocare... very reasonably priced. They are bringing in running lights / body kits and what nots next month. Will check it out and likely install some nice stuff just for the sake of it :p

Most camera installers will tap from wire instead of connect to fuse box. (cause this will complicate the installing a lot more)

Fuel consumption, i'm also getting ~8.2L per 100km for my driving routes. Plenty of short routes in morning and evening. not much highway. Comparing to my very old Altis, i get ~50km more per tank out of mazda 3. Just a slight improvement i guess. But given mazda reputation of being thirsty in the past, its a huge improvement. Will be trying NS highway next month and see if its a bigger improvement.

My shocks give thumping sound as well. I thought it will go away running it in but seems not. Almost thought they set it up wrongly hence making it hit the limit. Will get them to confirm their setup during 5k servicing

Car stability, i think Honda is still best. Make no mistake, drive the mazda 3 like a family car, and it is stable enough. Try not to drive it like a honda civic boy speedster. Definitely i'm pretty certain Mazda 3 didnt use very good shocks.

Didn't get what the vibration issue related to iStop is? At lights, when iStop kicks in, engine is off, zero vibration isnt it. If engine is on, will have slight vibration as per normal. If severe, then better get them check the engine mounting.

I didn't find the istop disturbing, in fact the start up was just a shudder and its off you go.

Anyway, with regards to the stability, I beg to differ, I find that Subaru with its AWD is still superior in its class. but maybe my expectations are lower than others haha!

May someone help me to summarised the issues faced with this mazda 3 so far? Considered getting this car and below is the issues i saw through this page and ppl here might help to reply the problem permanent fixed or still not fixed have below:

    1) Knocking sound from car suspension? - Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
Knocking sound over hump is fixed but strange sound occur only during raining day have yet to be rectified. Awaiting next servicing.
    2) Replacing noisy stock tires to comfort tires to decrease road noise? - Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
Stock tire was ok,grippy. It's the interior plastic wheel fender unable to insulate noise. Thus no matter what tire you use, there will still be noise. This is a Mazda design not only to new m3.
    3) Vibration issue during idling at traffic light? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
The vibration is acceptable for me. When I stop kicks in, the engine stop and no vibration at all. And when the engine reignite, the little vibration is normal. Please test drive to feel it.
    4) Stock Wiper Juddering issue? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
Mine was initially juddering when collected the car. it's the the wax or hydrophobic coat( rain repellent) the AD apply for the handover of vehicle. Mine was resolve after a paint protection workshop deep cleaning of the glass surface.
    5) Unknown paintwork damage? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
    6) Slow reponses of center console UI interface? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
It's a computer the boot up error like some pc do. A restart will be ok. In fact mine the com self initiated the restart a couple of time and system self recover.
    7) Center console updated firmware improve overall usage? -Permanent fixed? Not Fixed?
    8) Any more to add ? please update here... thanks.

My sympathy. Iused to drive a red car and got that on the 2nd day, parked at SGH. There are many jealous people out there.

If the scratches are deep, just go for a respray. It is still new so the paint will match well. Don't use those paint touch up. It will look horrible.

Touch up paint is good only for the parts close to the roads due to paint chip because of the gravels, or just the dot kind.

You may want to install a car cam that records even whilst parked. Humiliating the culprit would be worth it.

I now choose mild colours as red seems to agitate even the birds! They shit on my car more than those besides mine!

Bluwel. Mazda bodyworks i only go to them.

Dun con pple insurance (even when others bang u), as long as no lose $, he will consider doing..

Bro you got the standard version yes? No fog light? I collected my deluxe today and it came with fog light.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, Taeyu.

Just got time to go through more carefully my posts.

Yes mine is the standard version, by choice actually. I don't quite like too many electronics. Now not even using the Bluetooth! Can't remember when was the last time I opened the sun roof. Also I don't fix any accessories except the scuff plates, as those parts usually get scratched from women's shoes ( my wife's and my daughter's ).

I don't drive much my previous Mazda 3SP. It's because, across the causeway, I drive a Malaysian car, a Preve.

But this new Mazda is getting better looks, and drives better, though not as powerful as the Preve which is 2.0 turbo. Interior, Mazda is better. Looks like I'll be driving the Mazda more, as the Prevehas now been`hijacked' by my son for his JB -KL trips. But I will notbe able to blend in with Malaysian drivers with the Mazda. Also in JB cannot take Ron 95. Further away, they don't care what fuel you take.

Actually, in JB city proper, I take V-Power Racing. In my previous Mazda, could feel more power, and fuel lasted longer ............... or was that just psychological? heheheheheh

I think basic version and deluxe version have same amount of electronics. No difference leh. The only difference is whether they put in the device capable to make use of it or not.

Anyway, totally agree its bang for bucks. I choose basic coz feel not worth $7k for the additional stuff. And i didn't want to exceed $100k budget.

Overall, very nice interior for the price. And many rate it very highly on the external looks. All-in, i think this car will sell really well. Watch out for the loooong wait for servicing and lousy service especially when they are pressured moving fwd. Similar experience with VW Jetta some years ago when they suddenly have a best seller on hand and insufficient time to build up their servicing centres.

haha, I convinced my dad to get a Subaru impreza sedan while I got a mazda 3. I think the new impreza should have better FC.

I got the deluxe version to pamper myself with the bells and whistles. been driving a bare bones manual car for 7 years. Time to pamper myself a bit with a little bit of luxury.

the next car I may want to go for in 3-5 years would be either a Mazda 6 or C class.

Mine is 3 years free servicing as well. If not I will probably service outside as the engine oil does make a big difference to the fuel consumption. Plus i trust my outside workshop mechanic much more as deal with them a lot longer.

As with any distributor workshop, they don't handle it very well when there's a problem with their servicing standard. on top of that, their mechanics tend to be new (lower pay perhaps), usually supervised by experienced supervisors who probably need not hands-on (for many years).... Also, with consumables, they tend to use basic ones.

Outside workshop, any service unhappiness, they always kenna left right centre from consumers like us. So they're really on their feet to ensure proper and professional servicing. Mechanics are a mix bag of new and experienced depending on how big your workshop is. But even those experienced ones are very hands-on. Consumables are by customer choice although most workshop tend to prefer some brand (probably gives them higher commission).

The main difference i find is usually whether your workshop have the proper diagnostic tools. This is more of an issue with top tier continental cars.

    Some updates guys..

I just dropped my car off at Leng Kee SC and informed them about the clunking and squeaking noise from suspension.. the Service Advisor said they will normally replace the bushing for the lower arm, but currently no stock. What they will do today is install some kind of insulation on the suspension (I suppose will be on the shock absorber) and apply grease on the joints/bushings.

The service will be ready this afternoon.. will update further after I collect the car..;)

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Hi guys.. I notice after driving in the rain.. the front suspension makes squeaking noise when going through speed bumps.. like old spring compress and let go will have that kind of sound.. anyone experience the same thing?

I thought Mazda Skyactiv uses a different kind of engine oil, something thinner. Also the radiator fluid.

Seems like the trend these days. Nissan CVT uses thin engine oil sprayed on to the belt.

I'm glad Mazda still uses the planetary transmission instead of CVT.

    COE: $67749

    Eurokars gave up at 2pm

    3rd bid: $66500

    COE: $67601

    4th bid: $70,000
    COE: $68,589
Secured my COE!! Can see that Eurakars is very determined to secure my bid as they keep increasing the bid from $64k to $70K
Velmont and Singxmm: you guys got the COE this round?

Congratulations. If yours is guaranteed COE, they had no choice, especially when nearing the 6 bids.

They usually don't allow credit card as the bank/card company will charge them a certain percentage for the amount. It's quite a sum if we're talking about downpayment for cars in SG!

Should't be a problem paying with credit card. Did so for the previous two cars and this one. In fact benefitted from the points given by StanChart.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

    Great. Do update. Thanks.

btw I had the bushing changed at 1000km. Its fine now during dry weather. During/After heavy rain, I still get the squeaking/clunking sound when going over humps.

    Currently I'm clocking in 6.5 litre / 100km.

that is averaging 15 km / litre.

I travel 60 km on ECP AYE daily.

That's pretty good. I am getting about 7.2 - 7.5L/100 km. That is at least 13km/L.

Not too bad, since my driving pattern is lots of city traffic, at least 60-70% city driving. I am happy with this, especially since my previous car only got me about 9km/L.

    That's good.

I'm so far only 300km into the new car.

I hope after 1000k and after the 5k servicing, it will be better.

Your previous cars from Trans Eurokar?

Mine is non guaranteed COE. I was prepared to take back deposit if they failed after 6 bids. Then I can take a look at Honda Vezel and Suzuki S-Cross

Oh, btw, how much is your purchase price? I plan to book one in jul this year.

I'll be sending the car for 10K service next Thurs and will feedback to SC.

    Cheers,

    Here are some updates..

SC did 10K normal service, tyre rotation, installed insulation on front suspension and applied grease.

I've driven over quite a number of the usual speed humps and no clunking noise. Also, the noise/feeling that front suspension/wheels are loose is also gone (touch wood!). Now it does feel like the new car that it should have been out of the showroom..;) Will wait for next downpour to provide feedback on squeaking noise. The SA informed to monitor first before they decided to change the lower-arm bushing or not as currently it is out of stock.

They were from the old Mazda at kampong Ampat. Also did the same with Borneo Motored for my previous Altis.

Honda Vezel is a nice looking car, and fast as well for a 1.5 litre of that built. Kah Motors didn't import it because it would compete with its Honda HRV, which according to a report I read, was an older model compared to Vezel.

Suzuki S-Cross is the updated model for SX-4. Nice actually, but my very long ago experience with Suzuki 800, made me avoid Suzuki.

Both theVezel and Suzuki use CVT. It's faster, smoother, lighter, quieter and fuel efficient, and cheaper to manufacture but the maintenance is higher. Many Honda Fit and Jazz owners are unhappy about that. Just check car forums and YouTube on CVT.

The new Altis uses CVT, but not in the Camry. Honda also does not use CVT for its Civics. Mercedes also not for its higher models. So that makse me question why. Thus my choice for Mazda.

any bro experienced traction control warning light (Not traction off light)on the dashboard turned on ?

Interesting! Can you describe the situation when it came on, e.g. slippery road on rainy day etc? Thanks

how long does the servicing take?

for example if I drop off the car in the morning, by what time they will ask you to collect.

My SE told me if install camera outside will void the warranty.

In that case, I am force to buy their 1 channel camera.

Anyone installed outside and SE said okay with warranty?

Can I check if there will be car washing / detailing done for the 1K free servicing by AD? Due for it next week so I don't have to bother washing car this weekend if there is.

    Thanks.

    Did you ask him why?

I have decided to postpone the installation of the camera until my 1st servicing to give me more time to decide and to ask the workshop directly if warranty will be void.

SE just gave me the "company policy" answer.

Same answer for rejecting credit card payment for remaining downpayment

I seriously doubt it. I think there's ltd demand. omv is only abt 1k+ more than 1.5L but the selling price is 14k more (of course Cat B plays a big part).

just trying to make extra $$$

anyway, i think shd be a concern only if power is tapped direct from battery as it might drain out battery, when engine is off. Battery warranty is 1 yr.

Connect to fuse box, not having the camera on when engine is not running, or having a separate battery supply shd really not void warranty.
