Well, I'm not very mechnical either.
Removing or minimizing the restrictions enables the engine to exhale better, making for a cleaner engine if what I read is correct.
Sound varies from hi-flow, semi-flow or no muffler.
Header and cat also plays a part in the sound. I know without cat and 4-2 2-1 header sounds like F1 on a 1.6. 1 min u bth already.
And exhaust modifications are 100% illegal unless approved by LTA. Muffler - have but ex. Header/cat - wait long long.
Insurance needs approval by manufacturer. No manufacturer is going to give approval unless they have a cut, hence the 'LTA approved exhausts which required approval from manuf'
Warranty void if non-original parts.
