    hi,

where you got the door visor?

    original from mazda at $250?

    Thanks

If you DIY, can get from eBay, or if you know someone from US, the originals at abt US120.

Otherwise, I think local auto accessories shop also carry them.

Thanks bro, the pedals are the same one i am getting from ebay for my 6.

Also getting the OEM scuff plates.

What is the difference between original and these besides pricing?

Yeah...it doesn't look as solid as the one that KahMotor gave for my Odyssey. What abt for M6 or Kia?

Mazda 6 also the same stuff, driver's side already got hole in the heel's area,K3,Kia even more stingy, only from factory floor mats given.

I just ordered & let you know once I fixed them. I dont think it shd void warranty, so long as it doesnt mess up the car components.. eg if you are soundproofing the doors, there's a number of motors, wiring etc...so long as the materials dont mess with them, otherwise, if something goes wrong with power window, AD can say its b'cos of the soundproofing.

I think it shd definitely improve. My experience with higher end cars come with good sound proofing, thats why you hardly hear road/wind/engine noises. Some even have double layer windows. That's one of the reasons they cost more. So, to be realistic, we cant expect much for Cat A car with low OMV.

Not sure if you have driven it in the rain, but I find its really loud when it platters on the roof.

I checked our M3, there're quite a number of places where its just bare metal. Even the soundproof material that comes with it are so thin & I doubt it absorb and/or reflect the sound.

Ideally, I want to strip out the whole car (am quite perfectionist), but I think for now, I'll leave the roof & door panels intact. Will start with bonnet, wheel arches & parts of the rear & see how it goes & whether I am happy with it. As in any acoustics effect, at some point, the improvements wld become marginal.

What is the difference between original and these besides pricing?

For all you know, it comes from the same factory in China.

I am really skeptical of any of this is going to make SIGNIFICANT reduction in road noise.

Best is to fill out all the void in the beams to block sound transmission, imho but thats being done by factory, albeit cheaply.

Most of this will cut off the noise to a certain degree. Usually spray is rather thin, Unless is new space age technology otherwise, sound absorbing material shd be abt 10mm thick.

I have removed the covers in the wheel arch & boot. They are in need of some insulation.

Well...thats what i will be doing, plus the bonnet for sure.

I checked out the roof portion. Looks like gonna be very little we can do 'cos of the sunroof. I think the clearance will be very small hence I doubt can add any soundproofing material in btw. The only possible areas are btw sunroof & front windscreen & rear area after sunroof (fully retracted).

So, nett maybe cover 30%, may not get significant improvement hencemay not be worth the effort.

    Soundproof : absorb
Dampen : make dead. Change the resonant frequency. Soften the sound if you will.

Wife collect M3 deluxe today. Have printed out the log card from one motoring. Understand the IVU label no is not shown. Currently shows a dash. When will it be shown, anyone knows. My condo Management Office needs a printed log card from One Motoring with a printed IVU no, in order to allow access into the condo via the security system. A handwritten IVU no is not accepted. Very silly rule but no choice, but heard from my Mazda dealer that IVU nos are no longer shown for new cars as LTA tired of updating this since IVU can get spoilt but all other car details remain. Is this true?

    Hi All,

I have check thru the net and found that oversea specification of M3 has the features of auto door lock feature when car is moving (Total 5 option for the setting).

However, it only can be set with the central locking switch which our specification doesn't have this. Is there anyway that we can enable theauto door lock?

can Mazda service centre programmed it? I have also studied the auto door lock wiring diagram (available online) for 2.0 specification in USA. it seems like it can be programmed with some sort of communicating devicecall VCM II with M-MDS softwareto the car ECU for setting the feature in our car device called Rear Boot Control module (It is actually located in our boot left hand side)

Engine oilis ILSAC GF-5 andAPISN specs, semi-syn.

It is meant for ECO (LOW carbon emission) engine.

Any EOILSAC GF-5 andAPISN specs will do.

    Most likely 0W~20

The 1st number is not important, the 2nd is.

Yes,i did for my 6,at 800km,it is very 'black'

if it is very black means the EO really cleans the chambers very well ... thus a good oil.

So when is the recommended first engine oil change? At 10,000 km or before that for first time?

    Thanks in advance.

btw, this is pic from manual indicating oil for ex Europe cars. So, strictly speaking, we can use all these indicated.

Remember asking Mzd w/s & they told me 0w-30 oil. I will confirm with them next svc.

Of course though, I think, for newer car, better thinner oil.

If you have narrowed down to the top 3 cars you consider buying, then, I suggest you go test drive them. They have their pros & cons. I personally tried out more than 3 ie Jetta, Kia, Ford, Elantra. Left out Altis/Sylphy as I want a driver's car.

If you like a good drive behind the wheels, this wld be a good Japanese made car with handling of European ones (i find as good as Ford). The rear is using multi-link (like Jetta/Ford) not torsion beam others. Interior much better than Ford. Power/pickup wise is abit lacking vs Jetta/Ford.

Consumption wise, its averaging 7.7L/100km (abt 13km/L) after 1700km, I think shd get better after 5000km.

So far, I like all the features that come along with it, Mzd Connect is great, bluetooth, voice command, Nav..similar to BM, using the commander & of course 7" screen.

Noise wise, it is definitely louder, which was also a negative for me. In part I think due to little insulation (save cost) & also the high compression engine & new design of the exhaust manifold. I bgt as the positives outweigh the negatives.

So, I have embarked on soundproofing the car & have just completed it. I must say it has cut down a fair bit of the engine & road noise, as good as my Odyssey, though not quite a Lexus yet :D. Amvery happy with it. Enjoying the drive!

I second that. Wife's car, collected on 25 Sep, deluxe model. Doors auto-locked after driver's door is closed, need to wait a little while and side mirrors fold up. Remote for trunk does not work unless a door is opened, any door and there is no trunk door latch inside car. Steering is pretty light compared with the honda civic 1.8. She's quite happy and son can't wait to take it out for a spin. He just passed first try on manual car few weeks ago and has driven the honda.

Basically, DIY. didnt strip the whole car as I dont want to mess with warranty. Bgt the materials online. Abt 2 days effort or 10 hrs.

Done the bonnet, parts of wheel arches, front portion of the driver side, below back seats, boot areas, boot door (top panel), part of front doors (didnt want to mess with the motors & wires), rear portion of roof (due to sunroof)

Wonder if Mazda is able to do up as an option such that warranty will not be void. Don't mind paying them if they do.

Bro ST69 the areas you did sound proofing are those tat wun void warranty?

Yup. Will not mess with that. If as a result of soundproofing it causes something to fail, then, it can void warranty. But, of course that has to be proven...eg say door panel, if the material covered up the window motor & somehow jammed it, then, it will probably void warranty. Same goes for the roof, have to ensure it doesnt jam the sunroof. Those areas I have done are exposed bare metal & if there're wires, I make sure its not covered, to allow access.

I think warranty concerns more in areas of installing additional electrical devices, direct tapping from battery (will affect its warranty), using your own Engine Oil, Filters etc, changing air-intake, or exhaust, suspension/brake systems, not following maintenance schedule...etc

Good, i prefer the sound of rain than road/wind noise :D

    Based model,'unbranded',higher end "Bose" speakers.

Frankly speaking, the sound system in the Mazda 3 is excellent as compared to the rest of the CAT A cars.

I find the default settings to be too boomy.

My setting now is BASS at 45% and Treble at 75%.

It sound more home theater than stereo so to speak.

It does goes loud but I can detect distortion in the sound.

Critically speaking, I would prefer more meat in the mid range and better stereo projection.

More slam in the upper mid, airier and more sublime highs and a better defined bass.

A warmer presentation would be very nice too.

The above is really being very critical from a perspective of an audiophile.

The DVD head unit an play MP3 and red book CD well. I have not try DVD yet.

Maybe will try to play other media files if I get the chance.

i just received feedback from my wife that after collecting their car on 15 Sept, their petrol as of last night was at half tank. (Dealer gave a full tank of petrol as we had wanted to collect the car on 12 Sept and could not deliver as promise due to the tinting of windows). Pretty good. Right now having clocked 2000km, my ave is 7.6L/100km, but I hardly do highway driving, probably <10%. I think it has gotten better though, my last long drive from West to Changi (90% highway) was at 5.7L/100km (17.5km/L). I am sure if you go NSH, maybe <5L/100km.

Those driving the 2014 MZ 3, what would be the one thing you don't like and wish the manufacturer would have done it.

Improve on Sound proofing material & have better low end torque (maybe its ok for 2/2.5L ones).

For myself, i can only comment that i would had prefer the driver seat to have the memory function and the passenger seat to be electric. I was wondering if the Mz 6 seats could fit in Mz 3.

For the sound system wise, I wish they could have added the mirror tweeter. I don't know if it is possible to add on the tweeter to the stock sound system.

DO you guys find the iSTOP irritating when you are stopping the car to reverse in lot and find the engine had stopped ...

I am getting 7.5L/100km now using the OBD, which is really surprising as I spent quite a bit of time in idling mode with the iSTOP off - tweaking the system and getting used to the controls and what not.

I am basically light footed but I dont brake much in familiar corners and am late braker.

I havent done any fast rev on my car as I am still running in .... hope to bring it to NSH to really run it.

For me, during the initial 1K, I got approx.

    1st tank

7.6L / 100KM - similar to you, light foot but I don't use iStop at all. Travelling from Hougang to Jurong everyday for work. but it inclusive a bit of jam for going and back from jurong

    2nd tank

8L / 100KM - it seems like improve a bit because I was jammed at custom for 2 hours after pump from JB. yet my 2nd tank still can hit 580KM per tank

    now is 3rd tank

    currently running at 6.9L / 100KM - 1/4 tank gone

the initial 1K service actually is nothing, no oil change at all. They only do checking on oils, tyres and any defect that you found thru out the first 1K that customer complaint. Now mine is 1700KM already after 2 weeks of driving.

Tested the car at NSH - approx. 2.5K RPM for 110KM/hr , but if go up takes a bit of time for rev. I am wondering have someone tried the acceleration pedel last switch step? I haven't tried it yet because it is not run-in yet. but I think I will try it if I have chance to go in NSH again.

Initially yes. Now I know how hard to step on the brake pedal to ensure iStop not activated.

Pretty good. Do update when you tried to floor the acceleration pedal. Thanks.

Yar, still mastering how to do that ... 1 time owning an AUTO car ... not used to it.

1 thing for sure ... pylon roads have to really slow down, no way near the confidence of my GP due to its weight, big smooth corners still not so bad .... need to adjust my mindset.

Do you mean we can feel a switch if we pedal to metal?

Final FC: 14.5 km /L ... using gas filled and actual mileage as reference.

OBD showing 7.6L/100km = 13.1km/L ... so the OBD was lying ... great!

so far, nothing wrong with the car ... good ... situation normal. [thumbsup]

Yes,there is a switch, activate it when needed, like overtaking or beating red light.. [thumbsup]It can drop as much as 3 gears, depends on the car's speed.

Hi guys, just test drove the Mazda 3 today. Surprisingly the cabin wasn't as noisy as i expected, although i was driving below 80km/h. The only noisy part came when i floor the pedal. Engine noise was rather noisy when floored but i kinda like that. More importantly is when cruising (below 80km/h), the cabin sound well insulated enough..

However i couldnt get to test the MZD system as much as possible.. Was wondering if the bros here could provide me some feedback with the GPS Navigation system. Is it good for GPS usage? Also, Mazda 3 deluxe got usb to connect our phones to the system right?

    Thanks!

Good that you like the Zoom Zoom sound from the high compression engine & realigned exhaust. You are right, its probably ok for a Cat A car. I was being fussy comparing with my previous cars.

The MZD Connect system is just great. I do plug my ipod via usb for the music. I nvr use GPS previously, but now, I become dependent on it. Need some getting used to initially, but so far ok. I find the fastest way is to use the 6 digit postcode.
