As long as your car can pass the inspections, u can keep it. Some good mechanics can modify parts from other cars to fit yours.

Some cars on our roads r more than 30 years old.

Optra 5 is made in korea so sud b reliable. Basically it's a daewoo, so they have been making cars for some time already.

The fit & finish is better than the early daewoos though. Guess it must be from the US input that the quality has improved.

The Optra is made in thai but the optra 5 is from korea.

Still a better bet than those thai made jap cars IMHO.

Oh. So all seats from dealers is PVC. Then i'd rather stay with the fabric.

Much more lasting & cooler too.

My fabric seats r >16 years old & still in almost perfect condition. Very little maintenance need even.

Next time go early & make enough to buy a new car.

i kw it's daewoo changeover...tin in U.S. and aussie, daewoo and hyundai made seems like better quality ...

for me, need to change to "leather" seats cos have children, sure spill this spill tat...last round was kiddo "merlion" in car...and his clothing...siong...rushed to buy new set of clothing...

Yup. Still best value for money is 2nd hand. Was looking tru ads & called a early 05 Megentis (Kia) for about $49K. Also a mid 03 Sonata for $41K.

Damm tempted to change car. Using all my willpower to stop the thought.

One dealer told me he feels prices will fall summore in next few years. Maybe then just nice. My car coe expire in 3 1/2 years time so can pick up some real cheap 1 to 2 year old cars then.

Fabric is easier to clean spills than real leather as it will soak into the leather & u will never get it out.

For fabric, just use 3M fabric protector & spills will never soak in. Just use a cloth to soak up the liquids.

recommend dun go for magentis...frenz driving tat...worst than a drink petrol like siao

u looking at sonata?? i really like its design...my previous boss was driving one...quite gd engine...another frenz drove his to genting...whole engine ki chia...think tat was an exceptional case.

I noe the matrix have some problems with the mechanicals but not all. If u lucky, u get a good one. That's what I fear most is getting a lemon.

I drove a excel 1.5 auto for 10 years without any problems. A damm solid car. That's my personal experience with hyundai although I do hear horror stories about them too.

But still best is my present AT171 which I find very easy to maintain. That's why I don't want to sell it off.

3m fabric protector almost all diy shops have it. Also got fabric cleaner to clean b4 u put the protector.

Lasts very long b4 u need to apply again.

Called about a 01 Elantra today. Dealer asked for $30K plus & the coe is $101.

I wonder if anybody konws how to calculate the paper & body value for this car?

Is this a good buy? Every day I check the classifieds & get more undecided on what car?

but consider new car around 39k...(small korea/My cars), think may not be a good buy.

haha i wish..btw just to ask something...guess my car is giving me problems again...this afternoon was cleaning the metal bracket coz tat time my mom top up batt water den spill and neva clean until the metal bracket start to form those white white stuff..so i decided to un screw the bracket and clean it off...after i've clean it, i screw back and left the car at the carpark did start the engine awhile thou.

just now was on my way to buy dinner for my family den my radio suddenly went off...i thought i accidently pressed the remote control but no...now no matter how i press the on button the radio wun start..

seems like no current is being suppiled to the radio...ARRRRR how ah? izzit due to this afternoon's cleaning?

hmmm...seems like a burnt fuse...

juz drive to any mech/workshop to let them take a look. The fuse is very cheap, like 4 pcs for 10 bucks or so. But they will charge with labour tho..

hm..tatz wad i thought also...i found the fuse box and plug out the fuse for radio...itz a small red colour with the number 10 printed on it...when i plug out, the fuse was not burn den after dunno how i fiddle, the radio came back to life again..

Actually not too keen on an elentra. Shape not nice (most koreans need italians to get their design right).

The dealer is willing to bring the car to my house for a test drive. He supposed to see me tomorrow but I going to turn him down.

Very few elentras sold due to the fight with their own matrix & they felt not worth fighting with themselves so they pushed the matrix & just let the elantra die off.

Guess they prob make more $$$ with the matrix & as a mini suv, which was the in-thing then, it had a better chance of fighting with the other brands.

Elantra shape will look better if car was bigger. For that size, it looks neither here nor there.

Even the new 2.4 sonata is not selling well. I heard was due to the low omv but selling price is comparitavely high. Prob have high profit margin.

Cud b a loose wire when u cleaned the bracket. Fiddle to find the loose connection & tighten it back.

hm...but all the lights and stuff all ok how come only radio?

once i kana fuse burnt..affect only radio and cigarette input

the elantra got 2 models...the earlier is cateye lamp and the other is later model...both models is scarce on Sg roads...think u rite due to competition with its own line of models of value-for-money cars

maybe u can get their 2nd hand sonata - looks not bad too...but is petrol guzzler

normally wires seldom loose unless we accidentally touch it...in my line of work, cables are the most least possible fault area...

think cos ur ride too much vibration liao

Prob some wire connection to the radio is loose. U have to follow wiring from radio down to find a loose connection.

Can't think of any other reason as only radio is affected.

hm..perhaps ba...lol...this ride really gif alot of problem

probably some connections or some sort.

as long u sayang sayang and regular maintenance, all problems shd go away soon

Cat-eye elantra I think all scrapped already. This lokely the newer model.

Thinking of the 2 lit sonata. Hiyah, I hate to make this kind of decision. If change car & new car got problems, curse everyday why I so itchy backside.

I know the sonata drinks, but all koreans r heave drinkers, even the girls.
