KIA K3 Owners check-in! part 26

What K3 down spec for SX ?

It would loose it's charm , is not like any Japan car that those uncle aunty will also sign with close eyes, if the badge is a T / H bare car the sale will be brisk !

Kia is well known for it's down to earth price and added value accessories.

Further more these days Jap car had came in being so much more fuel savvy , without the additional accessories for Korean car the attractiveness sure die down.

And I notice K5 had been taken down for sale as well ?!

And I notice K5 had been taken down for sale as well ?!

They seem to be up and down without rhyme or substantial reason, the first batch was high spec, then later got downgraded (no xenon headlamps), then later got upgraded into what we know as "SX Sport" (got factory sunroof, xenon headlamps and C&C added-on body kit), then now again downgraded.

Some believe it's the factory or KIA head office that is fickle. Others think it's cutting corners to increase margins or lower selling price.

As for K5, likely they are no longer stocking it as the new model should be arriving veeery soon.

Hi bros! I booked a K3in early Dec. About to pay this weekend and Kia announced the price drop by 2k plus. The Kia SE and his bossbasically told me too bad, my bad luck. They will do nothing and I just have to accept since deposit paid even though Ihave not made full payment. Suppose to collect car in early Jan. Really sway. Any suggestion?

My radio reception is very bad too! Can't really hear anything in tunnels. Is it because K3 does not have exposed antenna anymore? My previous ride Cerato Forte does not have this problem.

Do feedback too when you send your K3 for servicing. Do you have any accessories running in your car? Try to remove them to see if the situation improves. Not a solution but may help all of us to isolate for root cause.

Yo guys, I encountered smth odd when I collected my car 2-3 days ago.

When the gear is in P or N, and you rev the engine to 1000-1200 rpm this range exactly, the engine vibrates quite abit. It doesn't happen outside this RPM range. The exhaust also makes a weird hollow sound during this vibration. Check out the video.

My SE noticed it also and he immediately scheduled me to go to the service center the next day to have it checked out.
But the mechanics there assessed that the car was fine and told me it is normal to have this.
I explained to them that this vibration was not normal because my SE tested another K3 and it didn't have the same issue.
The mechanics then told me to monitor it until the 1k servicing then check again.

How much was your package? Guarentee or non guaranteed?

It's true KIA have every right not to do anything. Pricing will be based on the time/date of purchase and the time you signed the agreement.

COE is always a gamble. Who ask us to buy car in Singapore. [:/]

the worry about white is more of the car turning yellowish or off white over time rather than loosing shine.

however, white hides scratches better than darker colors like black / metal stream.

do a proper PPS if worried about paintwork.

The free zetona pps from C&C isnt that good. I know someone who went to do a proper pps after 6 mths. But in the first 6 mths under zetona the white car has turned yellowish in some parts...

I mean, if this weekend Kia announced the price go up by 2k, will you go and top up or tell yourself "HENG AH"? Contract is signed and price is already agreed on so nothing to negotiate about.

Just blame on the COE system, just $2000,i remember when i bought my Mazda on the Jan 2013,the COE was $96k++,our stupid Minister said loan from Feb that year min 50% downpayment,COE dropped $30k,the next round, more bang boss... [furious][bigcry]

Just being realistic. Once contract is signed, it's binding. You can't ask for a further discount if prices drop, just like the dealer won't ask you to top up if the prices go up. If the prices are still open to negotiation then the contract is a scrap piece of paper.

Well i managed to nego more freebies after deposit paid. No hard and fast rule. If you are a good customer with pleasant manners/good negotiation skills anything is possible.

Just a friendly advise for everyone to play nice. Don't become like the other korean car thread...

I think freebies always open to negotiation any time. Sometimes even colour also can change if car hasn't been ordered. But hard to change to a lower price.

There is no such thing as best & affordable pps centre lah. Price can range from couple of hundreds to thousands. It is reallydepend on your needs and budget.

As mentioned bysome bros here, there is really nothing wrong with your SE & his boss except the wording being use leave a bad aftertaste& maybe would haveoffer you some feebies.

If the 2K drop mean actual 2K in your downpayment, then you can maybe use the 2K for other upgrade. If the 2K is only from your loan.....dun think it matter that much lah.

k3 is a good car. Just enjoy your ride [nod][nod]

I am still getting non fantastic mileage per litre around early 11km/l despite being a light footer.

Not sure how ppl can get 13km/l region..

My mileage is around near 4000km already.

Earlier is 10km/l+ though improved a little.

    Being pumping 98. Occasionally 95.

My 10 yrs old Altis also can managed that when I handled over the car. Sometimes 12km/l despite weighing heavier with lots of upgrades.

Currently driving a Mazda 3 2009 version. Everything ok but just got many complains from friends and family that the rear leg room very small. I got to change my suspension and air con compressor after 5 years. Wear and tear or unlucky.

For the new Mazda 3, seems that the leg room is still quite small.

My father in law is currently driving a kia cerato for almost 8 years and everything seems quite good. Therefore I am giving Kia a try too..

Depends on what you are looking for. FC? Design? Feature? Comfort? Brands?

Hi folks. going to get delivery of my K3 next week. i have an existing in car cam (that uses the ciggy lighter to power), so just wondering for those of you who had in car cameras, how do you diy the cable for K3?

Currently in my old car i ran the cable down the A-piller, under the dash to the ciggy port. but in the K3 the ciggy port has a sliding cover on it so if i do it that way i probably wont be able to close that slider door [:(]

for those that has it wired to the fusebox, what is the configuration (any pics or video) and does it still draw batt power when the car engine is not running, or do i need to get one of those "power magic" box?

    thanks alot!

You can easily find it via Qoo10/ Carousell sellers. Not sure brand cam u're using, but brands like Thinkware does not need a "power magic box" for parking recording, Generally, new car battery quite lasting. Tested with my Thinkware F750 Full HD dual-cam on motion detection, battery voltage level remains 13.9V even when vehicle was left stationary for 7days straight,

Thanks Maomao. what i am really asking is if i want to wire my carcam directly to the battery, how should i do that, since the ciggy port compartment has a sliding door. and if i were to connect it to the fusebox, how to do it, and does it drain battery when engine is off? i am not planning to have it record while i park overnight so my main concern is if the fuse box still powers my car cam (and draining the battery) even when engine is not on?

    i am using a DOD LS400W btw.

Connect to fuses that are only live when ignition is switched on. No battery drain when parked.

If you dont know which fuse and how to wire pls bring to professional.

As my SE unable to bring the carpet and sunshade to pandan garden in the morning, I went down to Alexandra showroom to collect in the afternoon. Show him the issue and immediately he asked the technician to resolve it.

The technician said that it is due to the IU cable.

Do not waste money on paint protection as they never last too long - max one year regardless of what they claim. It is cheaper to get the car resprayed at the 4th or 5th year mark if you are keeping the car long term.

getting new car is like getting new phone like that lo... when you buy new phone, you still get a screen protector (...and now even more atas is the tempered glass screen protector)...even though you know after long time the screen protector will probably give way / crack / have scratches or need to change new one after many years. I guess car also the same? You just have to find a reliable workshop who can do a good PPS, so that on the road can some sort or rather, minimize rock chips, scratches, paint protect, and the workshop who can in the long term help to maintain / do additional followup pps at minimum cost or discounted rate / already inclusive in the package... so in the long run = car as good as new and bling bling shiny...

anway i think i have found a good reliable PPS workshop, as i am really very lazy/tired? to do my own maintenance, and most importantly, i dont really know how... so the workshop helps me solve all these issues....... just my tots ya......

may not last as long as those claims of 3 years to 5 years, but one visible benefit is that the car is easier to wash, stains don't stick as much, and water beads off easily.

I had Altis before too. It was getting 11+km/L. (Petrol 98ron)

Think also traffic condition also play a part as I often stuck in jam or so and recently change my travel from 80% highway to 50:50 as minor road tends to be safer when talking about rock chips compared to highway driving. I wish to keep my white horse in new like condition always which my old Altis of 10 yrs still look very new when I traded in.

Think now 10.3l/100km though I think this is not accurate at times.

Yeah paint protection very hot as now cars nowadays are so expensive compared to those olden days. Mine did on the second day mainly because it's white and also wanted to serve protection against environment and dreaded rock chips.

In Singapore, 7l/100km is achievable. ROM95 is best for me.
