Only affects your warranty for brakes. What brake pads u buying ? Stock brake pads not bad mah, quiet. Most aftermarket pads will produce grinding noise.

Yes agree, stock brakes buay pai liao..

unless wanna use K3 for road racing, then i think u need to change engine, tyres, etc.. lol.. just joking, dun angry hor...

but seriously, stock is good enough..

N.A cars no point upgrade brakes. Stock is the best. Unless turbo cars going for big brake kit. Aftermarket pads might no sit properly and create grinding noise.

I realised that the ride is much quieter when on lower tyre pressure , 33psi. Before that 35psi very noisy.

under ur aircon controls, there is a compartment juz ahead of the gearstick. Open it up, u will see ur USB, Aux and 2 cigg slot

Anybody using K&N filter? Is it good?

some ppl say K&N filter, more air flow, more power. But more dirt will go thru and need to maintain it.

some ppl say stock bo power, less air flow but dirty just throw and replace.

I go for the latter, lazy person [laugh]

Hello all k3 owners, if replace wheels, tyres and brake pads outside workshop will it affect the warranty?

Use the stock brake pads. The original brake pads are superb. They hardly generate any brake dust. I switched to another car make and my front wheels were always coated with brake dust. My previous Elantra and current Sonata don't have this problem at all. Should be same for Kia as well cos I don't see any K3s with dirty front or rear rims that are full of brake dust.

Yup our k3 has no brake dust. Our rims always quite clean.

By Default, the music is shut off when the reverse cam is activated , as a safety measure...

No need mod. Can be set in the HU. I can't really remember where but I saw it before. If I remember correctly, put gear to reverse, then press "set" on the screen.

Bro give me a praise please. Lol

Probably will use the stock brake pads.

What about wheels and tyre? If replace after market one will affect warranty?

What about wheels and tyre? If replace after market one will affect warranty?

Definitely not... warranty will still be valid unless your wheel replacement is deemed to have added excessive stress to the joints or axles etc so that they break down prematurely. For example, you change from the given 16/17 inch rims to much larger rims like 19/20 inch rims and up the tire size to like 235/245 width... this will add excessive stress to the wheel hub and bearings, shaft/axles, shaft bearings, brakes, power steering mechanism, suspension, shocks, gear box. Then if these break down and the AD workshop checks and says your wheels and tires are oversized and hence caused the premature breakdown and they don't want to cover, it's their right...

actually they can argue till cow comes home to void warranty la. juz stand ur ground.

Wheels and tyres most ppl will change. For SX model, the rims are good looking enuff. For tyres, its a wear n tear item, no issue to change.

Actually ah anybody else getting the same issue I'm facing with MINI VIBRATIONS?

It's really minute and the car will vibrate while cruising (more noticeable at higher speeds). Its hard to feel it but if u say out like "ahhhhhh" u can feel it. Definitely not road condition as its most obvious on very smooth roads (like TPE/KPE). I've driven other brands for over 11 years and never had this issue.

Car is 1mth old. Checked the wheel balance and rotation no problems there. Suspect suspension.

    Any guru can advise?

send for service and bring the technician out for a test drive to experience the vibrations?

similarly, test drive from the showroom to see if the other cars have the same vibrations?

I did the 1k service, and subsequently went back again. Brought the technician out for a drive but he didn't think the vibrations were unusual. Checked the wheel balance and all was good. They brought a new 2016 FL model for me to try and honestly I did feel a little bit of the same issue with the showroom model.

    Wondering if it's car design/make/brand...

But other cars I've driven and even my previous 10-yr old toyota also not lidat leh.

    Engine Mounting

    Suspension

    Shock Absorber

Must specifically ask workshop to check..they will not check during normal servicing.

But again not to doubt you but the vibrations are really mini - i.e. its really difficult to feel it, unless you are like singing a song or humming along. If I dont make noise while driving the ride feels smooth - maybe I need to test other K3s. Probably testing a friend's K3 this weekend to see how.

I found out that it's the tyre pressure that causes the vibrations. Advised to follow manufacturers recommendation 32psi instead of pumping to higher pressure. I've tried many other brands and settled for CSC5 due to its execellent wet grip, smoothness, precised steer and stable cornering.

For me I never bother about thread wear rate. Enjoying changing new tyres, don't like to use a set for too long. Anyway bought from Stamford tyres at $198 though little more expensive than LS $160, LS parallel imported but Stamford made in turkey. And got free rotations unlimited and free patching and free nitrogen. Quite worth as rotation outside charge about $20.

For those on 16" can change to CC5... Another eerily quiet tyres.

What is CC5? Conti Comfort Contact?

I'm using CSC5 noise level quite ok, but still slight noise on rougher roads. Actually doesn't bother me I'm not a tyre noise detailed. Just blast my ICE and listen to bass.

I found out that it's the tyre pressure that causes the vibrations. Advised to follow manufacturers recommendation 32psi instead of pumping to higher pressure. I've tried many other brands and settled for CSC5 due to its execellent wet grip, smoothness, precised steer and stable cornering.

Tyre pressure? So yours is ok now ah didnt u say u still feel a lil after csc5?

Im more inclined to ps3 actually, read that csc5 wear rate is horrible.

50 is not the correct profile. The overal diameter increases, will affect speedometer accuracy and cannot clear wheel well if carry heavy load.

Yes 45 is the correct profile. Overall the size diff if 50 215 is about 2% bigger. No material impact to speedo n clearance

Bought mine at Stanford tyres AMK Autopoint. $198 for CSC5. Free balancing , free tyre patching , free nitrogen refill. I got free wheel alignment too as I made friends with the outlet manager.

Parked next to my neighbour today, couldn't resist this shot of the K3 twins... SX on left (lot 211), EX on right (Lot 212)... can't tell the difference from the front though.

Bridgestone GR100 is meant as a touring tyre. Means it has lower rolling resistance. It tends to be very quiet when compared to slight performance tyres.
GR100 grip wise is still okay. But I bought it cos I want less road noise.
Before this I was using Dunlop sport maxx tt. Grip was good. But after 5k mileage, it become even noisier than the stock nexen. Brought it down to another shop and realized all 4 tyres had very serious uneven wear. Hence the noise.
They couldn't figure out why also since my car is relatively new and alignment was only slightly off. The alignment off could be due to my rims striking the kerb.

I used to have Yokohama s drive on my old car. It is very grippy. But the offset is that it is noisier and wears quite fast.

    Thanks for the review..
Usually Dunlop not very good in wear. But instead of tt. Rt will be quieter.

Just changed to Goodyear f1a3. Quieter than stock and even my CO as the passenger can feel that the braking improves..
