if 1st 5 years ...nothing major wrong with the car.We would have pay few thousands for bringing
our K3 to C&C for servicing...not to mention every additional yr after that. But when i sign on the paper
i already price in that cost liao cos peace of mind boh bian, first time buying korean ... :secret-laugh:

May I know how much did u quantify to price in that servicing cost?

All servicing records are computerized by C&C. They can penalised yr warranty under clause 10, which is govern by maintenance schedule every 10,000km or 6 months^, whichever is earlier.

Warranty may be rendered null and void under these conditions:

    2. Alteration to the original specifications or installation of equipment which are neither provided for nor authorised by Kia Motors Corpopration (the Manufacturer) or Cycle & Carriage Kia Pte Ltd.

Bro, does this mean if we install amp, underseat subwoofer, car cams etc., then our warranty void? Then our car must be stock for 5 years??? Boh Lee You leh...

For me, my car cams are tapped to fuse and I intend to install on-off switches for them, and also to mod the reverse car cam to on/off with a switch, also the amp will mean connecting to the HU etc etc... I asked the SE but he no answer n say need to refer to the servicing manager.. such unclear answers had caused me to hold back on my purchase, until things get clearer... I dun wanna drive a car that is not to my liking, just bec we are held hostage to the warranty package.... the car shld fit our lifestyle , not to fit into the C&C warranty clause!

Lurpsexx, no matter which brand u buy, be it Honda, Toyota, Mazda, VW, Ford etc etc ..all will show the statement in the warranty condition.

Example, if gearbox spoil, and they discover all the additional "mods" like amp/bling blings, its quitw hard for them not to honour the warranty as it's quite a straight forward case of mechanical breakdown vs Electrical fault, Most likely warranty they will play by ball & honour

But of coz if scenario is, car touch wood electrical short circuit & catch fire, they can refuse warranty, pushing all the blame to your additional mods, which might have overloaded, or ckt short due to improper cuttin etc..

End of the day, I think juz go to a reputable Workshop and do the mods for peace of mind, anyway some service advisor also close 1 eye one.. Do need worry too much, many peeps rides here arent stock 1 way or another.. lol

I also kena the "suggestion" by the SE to opt for the guaranteed package, with him saying no 3 yrs servicing package for non-guarantee price.. then i asked him if I took the non-guranteed package then no servicing package included? He say yes, and I  ...???

All the brand's cars i seen have at least a 3 yr or 60K Km servicing included, and the Kia SE said the other make's profits higher and the servicing costs hv been included into the car price... then he said Kia margin low and car price low so they dun practice incl servicing in the car price... ... so I buy a non-guranteed then no servicing? The the 5 yr warranty how? How to have kia service records if i heng heng got a car under non-guarantee package but no servicing incl? Void the warranty automatically? Twist my hand to "buy" the 3 yr maintenance servicing for another 2K?? He then told me the 3 yr servicing has 2 free labor n the engine oil , filters etc need to pay?? I didnt get him clearly as I was already :a-noway: ... then i asked abt any other servicing package ala carte, and he gave me a brochure on the SS20 normal 10K servicing.. I took a look and its $689 for 3 half yearly 10K KM SS20 servicing, so for 3 yrs basic servicing (2x this package = 6 servicing) it works out to $ 1380, cheaper than the $2K serviing package to pay if I took the non-guranteed package... he also hmmmm... for a while and was silent.. now only question to ask is the ala carte servicing the same items as the 3 yr maintenance package.. can any kind souls here advise me??

i've seen autosaver Kia service package and its cheaper at 149 for the 10K servicing and I think the service is comparable.. if not for the 5 yr warranty, I'd gone to autosaver for my service already..

I'm holding back until these ques are resolved, and the last 2 days stock market mass bleeding may put a damper on the potential car buyers enthusiasm = lower COE at next bid? Only time will tell if we are rational/conservative or just car crazy! [sweatdrop]

Thanks bro... thats what I tot too... its all down to the servicing sup if he wanna press the case or not..

I actually wanna mod liao once I get the car, just wanna check with other owners if they ever got refused service due to these mods...

The car is good, just wanna make it better without any compromises..

    Thanks again! :a-good:

Seems like we're held hostage by the 5 year warranty. No choice but to go back to AD for servicing. If servicing package only covers engine oil change, quite ex as it won't cost 2k in 3 years even at AD pricing.

Since your SE doesn't know the difference, likely that 2k package is inclusive of a nice bonus for the SE...

Go alternate servicing mean 1 yr you go in once and other is outside workshop. For the first 5 years if you have free servicing promotion then go C&C to maintain the full 5 yrs warranty then after go to the alternate method. For those without promotion servicing then opt for the alternate method.

They are clever to include 10 yrs warranty for engine so as to keep the customer coming in to maintain their engine warranty. Though I think redundant as an engine even for KIA can last long time with proper maintenance.

PS I used to work as an service advisor for KIA though I do not know the policy changed?

I have been using Autosaver services for almost 12 yrs already. No issues with them and their people are friendly and knowledgeable.

From old Hipporolla, tomy ex Altis 1.8 and to my current Civic, Svc has been great and they don't restrict what what stuff you need to buy from them etc. They once managed to solve some strange Check Engine light constantly on error in my ex Altis. BM wanted me to change the whole MAS sensor which cost almost $800. [mad][crazy]Turns out that the MAS sensor was covered with dust and silicon no thanks to the stainless steel open pod filter I was using at that time. The sensor was cleaned and the ECU reset. They also cleaned my throttle body just to be sure.

Mind u, BM, being such a large AD, DOESN'T have or employed staff who doesn't know how to do a perm reset of the ECU! Clearing error codes and doing full reboot are 2 different jobs. The check engine light may still come back on sometime later if you just do a simple 'Error code clear' command.

Autosaver prices have risen over the years as well. But they are still cheaper than any AD la. The only downside for Autosaver is that they don't have any 4 wheel alignment machine. As such, big jobs eg shocks replacement, you will need to go to other tire shops for wheel alignment after shocks replacement.

i can jus estimate ...if outside workshop with a new car, jus normal servicing i reckon probably the cost max will be $150. C&C charge $2000 for 3yrs with roughly total 7 servcing..

Anyway...one way to safeguard our Kia and not being hold ransome by C&C..see any bros out there have gd recommendation for workshops that specialise in Kia servicing ..so we can by pass CC.
And spare parts we can go direct toMin Ghee Auto Pte. Ltd.

Anyone white sport k3 their body kit n car color different?

As mentioned b4, the bodykits are locally painted and fitted. Its not factory original parts.

The color difference is unavoidable esp for white... The painting process and overall paint treatment for the bodykits will naturally be different from factory process mah.

There will be color temp difference even if the exact paint code is used.

This is why I strongly recommend new SX sports buyers to instruct SE NOT to install the bodykits. Get that $500 credit back for something more useful

Anyone requested a defer of delivery of their new rides despite ready for collection?

C&C said that for every day of defer kenna penalty of $50/-, I was thinking penalty for what.. Carpark where they store their car is theirs so who charges them? And I have to write in a letter to them for "Appeal".. WTF. The customer has to appeal?? The original delivery date is only deferred 4 days from my original defer date as I going overseas. By right they are going to handover end of this month.

I planning to defer mine after the 7th month as my family members objected. Similarly for my brother's car also after the 7th month.

actually i noticed this on the body kits from taobao too.where the paint on the kit is brighter than the car. I thought this was due to them putting the kits on cars that were not brand new. Looks like is a problem of paint matching. is the kit also snow pearl white effect or just plain glossy white?

interestingly my painted rear lip spolier from korea came exactly color matched to my K3. I think the dealer must have gotten the kits from cheaper sources, hence poorer paint match

Yup.. I have the feel that each SE there doesn't know what the rest are doing, and each quoting and telling customers their own "stories".. Kia SG mgt don't seem to have the same message for all of their sales folks to convey to customers....

So its up to customers to probe and dig and get their demands met with their respective SE.. I think its up to each SE to agree n fight for you for your specific requirements.....

Ya, thats what i heard too.. only engine.. not the starter motor, not the aircon compressor not the altenator etc.. only the engine.. Hmm... like have but dun have lidat.. haha

same applies for the 5 yr warranty, they must have your full service records (i.e. fully serviced by them only) otherwise they wont honor that 5 yr warranty.. bummer....

Cheefarn, it's 101% possible the color difference is avoidable. Take a look at mine - July delivery

    Possibilities...

    1) Some batches of body kit forgotten to spray paint, and supplier juz nice" gong gong" install without noticing the diff

    2) Sub-con out to another supplier...

Yes the kits are installed locally.

My SE said he can me a $500 credit if I don't want the kit. And delivery will be slightly quicker too since the car don't need to be down for installation.

"spotless" cuz i just washed it that afternoon. DIY handwash hehe.... haven't started waxing yet. that's gonna be tiring i think, waxing the whole car.

now i prefer to handwash (DIY) instead of going to the petrol stations. reason being their sponges and clothes have been used over many many cars... not sure how clean or free of abrasive materials are their stuff. end up scratching your paintwork along with cleaning.

mine had some small sticky marks (think sticker adhesive residue) left on my paintwork at a few areas after a previous wash at the petrol station. Can't really get them off with my sponge/cloth/car shampoo. is lighter fluid safe for paint work? know it gets rid of sticky marks easily but haven't tried it yet. or WD40? wash off immediately after of course.

don't wanna do the "natural look"? hahahahaha...

Your car still looks spotless in the photos.

I see! Looks good man the ride!

Tks! Mine is the previous sx before sports sx. No body kit option then. Just a?ded the boot lip spoiler myself keke.

Lights all stock. Looks white because of white balance adjustment in the yellow mscp light for the car to be white and not yellowish.

Ricleo, were you the one who sent their K3 to GroomersLab? How's it coming along now after some time of ownership? Great looking photos. I notice you like to really go for the ultra-cold color balance.

I'm the one who sent my K3 to Groomers. The water beading is as good as day 1.. only did 2 car wash (1k svc at C&C & self-wash 2weeks ago) since day of collection.

    Swee, swee!

Really considering going to them or Elite. Elite is more convenient for me and they're running a 1 year promo now...

But still undecided if such detailing is worthwhile.

How much did you pay for the paint protection? Usually it lasts for about a year or so?

Hmmm mine comes with PPS. Maybe should redo it after 6 months or a year.

the dashboard mat, someone mentioned that if you can contact the seller directly before purchase, you can get them to custom cut one in reverse of the china version.

What i did was i bough an all black one, both front and back, from the images they looked like they were made of similar material, and i just installed the dashboard mat in reverse. i.e. upside down.

the material for the bottom is actually a little bit rougher to the touch compared to the top, but acceptable. just feels like an ikea mat.

i am toying with the idea of buying a raw unpainted body kit from taobao (about 100+ only) and bringing it to a workshop for a spray job before installation. Just thinking and haven't really decided on it. If it is cheap, perhaps worth the effort.

anyone has advise on the feasibility and perhaps how much a workshop will charge for this service?

for this kit below I would trim and cut the rear bumper piece so that it is a small piece like the painted one below, and perhaps even cut out that bumper diffuser and install it separately in black if it looks good.

actually the external of the SG and China K3 are quite close. the main difference is with the front grill and the rear tail lights, and of course internals everything is left right inverted due to their left hand drive.

so far all my taobao parts from china fit perfectly. A little apprehensive to go to Malaysia with the safety considerations, especially with a new car haha.....

the China parts. If i purchase after shipping say $150. if the spray job cost another 200-300 also seems like a good deal. of course the key is that the spray job must be able to color match properly. hence need some recommended workshops from bros here keke.

For the bros who have collected their K3 recently or going to collect soon, do check your Thinkware car cam if your car comes with it.

I noticed that for mine, the parking mode didn't work properly. As in the parking mode will start (because I hear the voice prompt from the cam) but it only records/detect motion for a very short while.. as in 1 minute or so after parking mode activation. The voltage cutoff should not kick in so soon.

After some fiddling, I managed to trace the cause to the wiring. I saw from the fuse panel that the cam is hardwired to the internal lights circuit, and it seems that there is some cutoff mechanism that cuts off the power to the cabin lights after some time or after the car is locked. When this happens, power to the cam is cut off as well.

To fix this, I tried moving the cam wire to tap from the door lock/unlock circuit, and viola, the parking mode is now working properly [laugh]

Another suggestion: You can tap your car-cam wire to the SPARE 20A (if I remember correctly) fuse, as C&C, for me, tapped the IU power to the SPARE 20A fuse. I found this out when I decided to take out the SPARE 20A fuse for another purpose, and my IU lost power. HAHA.

And yes, power to the interior lights will cut out after the engine is off and the car is locked. I find that a great feature! No more dead batteries because of forgetfulness.

    Hi, thanks for sharing.

I think i am experiencing the same issue. Do u mind providing more details on how to rewire the cables to tap power from the door locks?.. did u get KIA SA to do it for you or u engaged your workshop outside?

It will be great if u can take some pics of the hard wiring connected to the correct source of power.

    Thanks again

I did it myself. It's quite simple actually. Just a matter of shifting the fuse tap wire to the correct circuit.

This is how my original wiring looked like. The red circle shows the fuse tap. There should be 2 of such wires - 1 for continuous recording when engine is on, and 1 for parking mode. For my case, the 1st wire is tapped to the cigarette lighter fuse near the top (not shown in the photo). And the 2nd one is tapped to the interior lights fuse.
    hqXFEOl.jpg
If you are game enough to diy, here's what you should do:
(Disclaimer: I bear no responsibility for any consequence as a result of following these steps)
Pre-requisite - You need a tweezer with curved end. Alternatively, you can use the plastic fuse puller from the main fuse panel in the engine compartment.
    1. Remove the fuse panel cover under the steering wheel.
    2. Locate your fuse tap wire for the parking mode. If your case is same as mine, then it will be at the interior lights fuse. Pull out the wire head from the fuse socket.
    3. There should be 2 fuses at the wire head - a 7.5A one for the interior lights, and a 3A one for the cam.
    4. Use the tweezer to pluck out the 7.5A fuse and insert it back into the interior lights fuse socket at the fuse panel
    5. The fuse for the door lock/unlock is the 20A one besides OFF (blue circle). Use the tweezer to pluck out the 20A fuse and insert it into the now-empty socket at the fuse tap wire head. So now the fuse tap should have a 20A fuse and a 3A fuse.
    6. Insert the fuse tap into the door lock/unlock fuse socket
    7. Put back fuse panel cover
That's it. You can now start engine, off engine and then test your parking mode. In my case, I used the Thinkware software to enable the blinking led so that I can easily see whether the cam is still on after i lock my car.
    Hope this helps.

any bros changed their halogen headlights to the Osram night breaker / racer ullimited 110?

suppose to be "whiter" and brighter. any reviews will be great!

Not as lucky as the bros here who bought the SX sports with HID. regular SX only came with halogen keke

thanks for the reply. how's the reliability of the Philips bulbs? saw some posts about OSRAMs spoiling after 6mths, wonder if it's worth the risk in terms of reliability.

Previous ride was on Phillips Diamond Vision 5000k, no issue passing LTA inspection.

Life Span ~ Typically 8months~11months. For my case a bit special, coz right hand side bulb always blows 1st, after which 3months later left side will follow.

Actuali $5X yearly quite affordable though.. but now on HID lagi more shiok [thumbsup]

Been using it for 3 months, so far so good. If you want, I recommend you go for the Crystal Vision. There's abit of grey area for LTA whether the colour temperature is 4000k or 4300k. Blue Vision Ultra (mine), 4000k. Crystal Vision, 4300k, looks better.

Same reason why I went for Phillips. Seen the Osram reliability issue so didn't want to risk.

    Thanks again for the details.
I have the same initial connections as you.
They wired it to the interior lighting for the parking mode.as shown below..

I like to apply your solution by moving the parking mode cable to tap the door lock power 20A.. but i am not sure about the tools u mentioned n how about to get it done properly. Will u be so kind to provide pic of your tools n the resultant connection on ur fuse panel. Thanks lotz

Btw besides putting the ignition switch to off, did you disconnect ur car battery / or turned the fuse switch to off? Cos i read some where in the manual that doing the above may reset some of ur electronics in the car which will require some action if reseted. E.g sunroof.

The tool is just something to help you grip the fuse to pluck it out. It can be a tweezer, a plier, or even your thumb and forefinger. In fact, for the fuse on the fuse tap wire, I used my fingers. It's only the 20A one on the fuse panel that I needed the fuse puller because it's quite tight and my fat fingers cannot pull it out [:p]

After you pull out the fuse tap wire, it should look something like this

    IMG_7088b.jpg

If you look at the fuse tap with the legs facing down, the top one should be a 3A fuse and the bottom one should be a 7.5A one. Take out the 7.5A one and push it back into the interior lights fuse socket.

Then pull out the 20A door lock fuse and insert it into the fuse tap wire. Actually, in your case, you can also use the 10A trunk fuse (middle one in leftmost column) because I see your wire is long enough. Then just push the fuse tap wire into whichever socket you are tapping from.

I did not disconnect battery or turn off the fuse switch, so no reset needed. I'll try to take a photo later of how my connection now looks like and post it here.

Hehe... when I went to take photo of my fuse panel connection, I decided to bring along my multimeter this time. Wanted to test whether the spare 15A and spare 7.5A fuse sockets are live when engine off. True enough, both of them are live, so the parking mode can tap on these also. In the end, I itchy fingers moved my fuse tap wire to the spare 7.5A fuse socket [:p]

Anyway, I took photos for both 20A and 7.5A

    a) This is tapping on the door lock 20A fuse

    b) This is tapping on the spare 7.5A fuse

And 1 more photo to show where the fuse puller is in the engine compartment fuse box

Using the stock alarm system, what you can do is to press the 'lock' button on your remote. The signal lights will flash, but of course, without the usual beeps or alarm. This is Kia's version of the car finder. Lol!

And if you are more adventurous, you can unlock the car from far away to activate your headlights. To get this working, your headlights lever need to be set to 'auto' and the 'welcome lights' must be switched on using the car trip computer.

"headlamp delay" or something like that. Yes," welcome light" is for the lights at the side mirrors.

When I say unlock, I mean unlock using your remote and not unlock by pressing the keyless entry button. :) The headlamps will not light up if you unlock using the keyless entry button.

wa blast it's horn? K3 just has an annoying beep intermittently. if you exit the car with the keys while the engine is running.

think this is a safety protection feature to prevent you from leaving the car running. There have been cases of cars running overnight in garages connected to ppl's houses in the US, resulting in carbon monoxide poisoning.

    It's simple maths.

Car cost for SX = 39K
    COE reserve price = 57,999
    Total cost = 97k
Selling price = 105k (non guaranteed)

    Kia's profit margin on SX = 8k

    EX car cost = 32,700
Selling price = 95k (non guaranteed)

Hence I expect his reserve price to be around 54k, which is obviously unattainable in the current market.

By the way this also means for those buying SX, non guaranteed bid is a good choice if COE stays around this level. No need to pay an extra 4k ^_^

Actually the worth of 3 year servicing/60K package depend on your car usage pattern...

    cos I understand that each service points is by mileage attained: 10K, 20K, 30K, 40K, 50K, 60K.

If you drive say only 36K in 3 years, you actually get to use only 3 services (10k, 20K, 30K), and will forgo the rest (40K, 50K, 60K) as you will only reach those beyond the 3 year mark.

If each service ave about $300, then 3 services is only about $900.

Once paid, don't need to think too much. But from the calculations above you can see that non guaranteed COE for SX is as good as guaranteed, based on their targeted profit margin.
