I thought SMRT very kaisi on safety precaution de? Even on raining weather, the train can move likea snail, and train can always jam break in the middle of the track, due to some unforeseen situation ahead. But how come such thing can happened? Is the driver sleeping on the wheel?

yup im sure the general will not take any responsibility n say the 2 dead guys broke rules. Easiest person to blame is a dead person.

Also, i hope d families take smrt to court for this.

IMO, it really does depend why the 2 were there. If this is indeed SOP then SMRT is to blame.

But if the 2 were somehow negligent and lazy, can they really blame SMRT?

there case will be this: "why were they sent to the track during daytime train operation hours when there was no train breakdowns?"

if a track fault was detected, should all trains on that track be stopped?

    condolences to their families.

i just feel the mrt (like many other old assets in sg), were not designed for the new population increase. Well you can widen roads, but what can you do about our tracks and trains? When that happens, either you have increased breakdown, or you do much more maintenance to avoid them. ie run to stay at same spot. Lots of stress on maintenance teams. Under these conditions mistakes are sure to happen as procedures get continuously updated.

Cannot like this compare, cause anything happened under the care of the white, they will still treat it as 'small matter' and would not blow up the matter. But if same thing happened under the care of ''others'', then they wouldbe condemn for life and make sure they will pay for it. Lol.

Let not politicalize this issue, lives were loss... :a-rip:and it has absolutely nothing to do with 30% or 70%, if you get what I mean.

I am however very concern with the series of incidents (including breakdown) we had in the recent years. Imagine if this is a signal related fault as reported earlier, it could have resulted in a collision between trains, and much more casualties (or even fatalities) expected. Many people communte daily using trains, and the thought of another accident send a shiver down my spine... ...

The relevant authorities and ministries ought to stand up and share what actually happened, what have been done, and give all commuters the assurance that the system is still safe, that is the least I am expecting.

Let pray for the victim and their family. Also, let not forget about the other 3 that escape from the incident, as well as the poor train driver, that probably witness the whole event in split seconds.

Still cant believe and understand why they allow maintenance technician to go down to track when the train is still in full operation? And why the train driver is not informed that someone is out on the track, and should slow down or watch out? Did the report mentioned how they got killed? By train or electrocuted?

Honestly the management is helpless. The culture, working style, norms etc. have all been built-in for a long time. To upset everything and re-model the company is very risky to do at a time when they are tasked to expand the network and improve the reliability. The management can only hang on for the ride.

It is expected of a CEO to turn around a failing company.

Otherwise, you don't need a CEO. It's better to have an empty chair and save the money.

In other words, he's not doing his job.

Why will a company pay you millions of dollars in salary to "hang on" ?

    He can buy it with 2 months salary , with yet so much change let for regular monthly detailing and cosmetics;

    RIP to the deceased workers

My van broke down yesterday and i took the train and saw a poster of abang, assisant engineer proudly working the night shift for you to have a enjoyable ride.
And then today, sad news of 2 young abangs killed.

I think SMRT is riddled with problems starting with the management.

They have never taken responsibilties so far, esp the CEO.

Has any SAF soldiers resign for the NS boy's death?

Seems likes it is a routine check on one of the signal point. More than 10 led by a supervisor walking in a single file on the walkway beside the track towards oncoming train.

Only this 2 got killed, think it's more of an accident.

Until the facts of the case are clarified, I do not think it is fair or proper to be baying for the resignation of Ministers, CEOs or anyone else.

2nd failure in a day on the same line.

Now no train service between Joo Koon and Boon Lay in both directions due to traction power fault.

If the gov wants to keep harping about "world class" and "1st world" or "World's first" crap, then when mistakes happen, they have to take equal responsibilities. Right now, I only see credit they take, lower ranks take the rap for mistakes made.

Incidents happen under their watch as CEO, ministers ... they can step down, there are many competent people out there that can take over.

If really no competent people left, might as well reclassify as 3rd world country.

"The train was being driven automatically and was travelling at 60kmh coming into Pasir Ris MRT station when it hit the two men, he said."

This is really hazardous work man, with only 0.5m of walkway with those rocks laying everywhere and train flying in at 60km/h (even with staff on the track?), a slip is very possible. Also walking in a single file, if the 1st man is tall those behind will have their vision blocked by him. Dont tell me 1 supervisor led 14 OJT men on the track to train them ah

I also heard CCL got slight delayed due to a fault earlier and when the train comes it closes its door on commuter before the door closing announcement was made.

My question to Desmond fxxk kuek! Have you ever tried personally walking on the track where train coming at 60km/h?

Hope you read this post. Train pulling into station, slowing down already generating such big draft. Never hear of the word domino effect. Walking on single file some more. It really show what kind of brain they are harbouring in their head. The more I read this news the more angry I get.

    Totally agreed

Let's refrain from commenting too much until they explain the whole thing... and do spare a thought for the families of the deceased ...

I think may be due to lack of communication!

Station control would have to be informed if any person is down checking the track, so when trains coming in will be asked to slow down. Someone sleeping.
