KIA K3 Owners check-in! part 22

I saw before there are clips holding the k3 side skirts to the bottom of the side of the car.. My current car side skirt held up by screws at both ends and along the length stuck by clear sealant only.. Can't last long with the constant rattling n weather..

the K3 side skirts are also attahed using screws at both ends, and along the length is stuck with 3m adhesive doubside tape. not sure if 3m tape is better or clear sealant is better hehe....

Mine is by the 3M tape for sure. As I dun see any sealant at all but it will not fall off as it is bolted at the corner and bottom part is strong seemly secured too but the top part is 3M tape.

Yup. the bottom is secured by clips.

i think 3m all weather tape will be better than sealant as my current car the sealant will detach after 1 year...

Another issue I wanna ask the bros here is that for the car battery, I saw a contraption on the top of the car battery holder (rectangle shape) and my SE say is for jump starting or someting purpose... is that true? Looks like got PCB on this rectanngle piece.. anyone knows how to take out to replace the car battery with this thing in the way??

Can I check again who has collected their ride since securing theirCOE in the lastbidding excercise(9/9/15)?

I'm asked my SE to give an indication of roughly when I'm able to collect the carbut he is wishy washy about it.

3M tape also wear out over time but still a better option than sealant as it does not looks like a gluey mess and change color. My ex boot lip spoiler of my previous car also pop out certain area but never fly off despite every 3 days wash car for the past 8 yrs. Else you see a flying spoiler.

Maybe I shall ignore it but see what the SE says during my 1000km servicing. But my chrome grille got some chipping when new but not obvious.

yup, last 8 yrs very good liao... as long as the 3m tape can last a few years before give way, then shld be acceptable la...

ya, you can ask for some touch up lo.. see what they can do....

With Altis not having traction control and so much locally fitted items for $110k range, really CMI. People are buying it because it is still a legendary nameplate.

Some more, the LED lights, dunno whether the levelling system works, everytime i encounter an Altis at night, they go over small undulations in the road, sure get flash flash effect in my mirrors.

The LED main beams are too bright, especially for our roads. IMO.

Altis consumption not really that amazing either imo... Mazda3 manages better.

And the Altis isn't a firebreather in engine output either. In real world I don't think the Altis goes much further on a tank than the K3 does.

Mazda is on the way to be a best-seller this year and KM-Honda is falling way behind due to overpricing. Compared to BM-Toyota, EUROKARS has definitely got a winner on their podium for 2015.

On the other hand though, BM also retains and earns customers via the famed reliability of Toyotas.... and BM ownership service is usually pretty good, I've heard. Must ask some Toyota owners what their experience is like. I also heard lots of positive stories from TC-Nissan owners.

C&C for KIA, sounds like the treatment is kind of poor leh.

Ppl buy Altis mostly go for the badge as it is renowned for reliability and fuel saving. I drive an Altis for the past 10 yrs and proven that it is a solid car though built in Thailand.

But paying $100k for such with lesser features does not feels premium to the K3 lor which resulted to go for the Kia. Kia's resale value seems to be appreciating compared to the past models.

I am quite surprised that my K3 has OMV value very near to the Altis but cost way cheaper than that. Good buy.

I also drive an Altis for 10 yrs and just scrapped. You have peace with this car. It can go on for many more years without much repair.

i thought i was the only one experiencing this. its like a combination of flashing high beam plus colour-changing LED lights from blue to white. the first time i saw the lights i thought it was a modified msian car. then when the car went past me, it had new plates on and looked totally stock. subsequently realized most altises (plural? lol) were like that [:|]

Oh, then I think it's better to bring it in to do a thorough check on the electrical systems to be safe.. My car batt last time the battery posts to the wire connectors was loose, so drive halfway the steering and electrical system cut off..very dangerous while the car is in motion.. I quickly went to the garage to troubleshoot and fortunately they found e reason.. Safety cannot compromise...

gosh... after reading all the sx vs ex.. still thinking if i should go for sx version.

If you do not wish to have the extra goodies of the SX (extra $10k difference) then the base EX is good enough. But in terms of safety, the SX has 6 airbags versus 2 in the EX.

    All up to you.

$10k difference equates to approx additional $100+ in installments depends on how much u down in the first place.

I think I looked at this Eurostyle before. It using a series of maps software very similar to Galactio.

The Galactio software has a speed limit warning and it will say "Drive carefully" whenever you are exceeding speed limit. Should be option to turn it off somewhere. I leave it on though.

This one go ask C&C, usually it's a thing only dealer or workshop can do, they will also require you sign legal document acknowledging your request, because it is a safety concern.

    interesting...

built in skin? or external software update. is this interface better?

also wanted to ask what is the date of your last map update in the eurostyle. mine is December 2014. not sure what the latest update is with the current batch of new K3s.

My map also not updated. Last week wanted to find a place in Woodlands (new area) cannot locate at all. Have to reply on my Nokia Here maps.. :)

Ya, want to know how to change the interface as well. can self custom or not :)

Today went down to take a look at K3 with test drive. Noted -

Guaranteed package at additional 4k but include free servicing, including one major serviceto 60k or 3 years, rikecool film with 10yrs wrt., front camer and 1 year road tax. Looks like you get back what you pay for a guaranteed COE.

Looking at the extras in the SX version, it is seducing to pay the extra 10k for all the extras thatinclude -

    Sunroof

    HID lights

    Body kits

    Ventilated driver seat

    Power driver seat with memory

    Multi function steering

    Automatic climate

17" sport rims, including the spare!

    Keyless entry

Front sensor for parking & 4 sensor for rear

    Welcome lighting system

    Many more!!!

Buyers got no choice but to go for the extras. If take the higher omv into account, the extras cost about 7k only.

But at a price of 105k with non-guaranteed coe(and after 6k rebates for trade-in and financing), it is close to Nissan and Toyota.

Apart from the branding, this K3 equipment level beats Nissan and Thaiyota hands down... the ride is similar but the K3 styling is better than (uncle) selphy and Altis...

if you're seriously looking at 1.6, get the non-guranteed SX sport.. you won't be disappointed...

But why not pay for the guaranteed coe. You get it back by way of free 60k servicing, solar film plus front cam. Besides the coe rebate is at 55k compared to 43k for non-guaranteed. Hopefully, coe goes below 55k to get more discount. Otherwise, also no loss.

    Non-guaranteed is almost guaranteed nowdays..

the servicing you can buy a-la-carte ($600+ for 3 servicing over 1.5 yrs) x 2 = 3 yrs for $1200... the "free" 60K servicing is not so "free" one.. also you need to read the fine prints these 60K servicing include what.. is it labour only or just incl the normal consumables but excl other items...

solar film, car cam, paint protector, HU , car mat etc all you can ask nicely from your SE..

the COE rebate?? haha.. who knows how much the COE will be? you pay 4K more but get back the rebate level (55K) - the coe price = how much get back?

end of the day is what you wanna get and how much you wanna pay.. then follow your heart and mind....

Price similar to Toyota, yet so much more for your money. That is the appeal.

Anyone know where to duplicate the Kia key. Got quoted 500 for the key.

If yours is the smart-key with passive entry (i.e. grab door handles, auto open), this is not simple to do. Smart keys must be coded and programmed by the dealer most of the time, even the fob itself is not cheap.

    Hi,

New to this thread. Anyway I'm going for my 1K servicing soon. How much do they charge if I buy oil from them? Am thinking of bringing own oil if they charge a lot for it.

A question on warranty. Do we have to do all servicing with C&C else the warranty will be void? Their servicing package is really expensive as compared to my previous car when I just do my servicing at one of my preferred workshop.

    Thanks!

Just went to Kia showroom today.

They have increase the price back to 94999 and 104999 (non-guarantee)...and98999 and 108999 (guarantee)

The increase is because they expect COE to remain strong this Wednesday due to the mass order from BM Toyota Altis stock clearance...

Also heard that from next batch onwards, they are bringing in SX model with less equipment to reduce the high car cost...

Things that will be gone are sun-roof, 6 air-bags and some others...

BTW, for those Bro who has got the SX with sun roof, will it be very noisy on heavy downpours ?

Also, any issue so far with water slippage ?

    TIA...

Sounds bad if they are going to start scrimping on equipment as this was their key differentiator to hyundai.
