Hi all,

Can anyone comment on the historical K3 prices and if current promo is a good deal? Was looking at used cars but their prices are equivalent or even higher in depreciation as compared to new. Ridiculous.

Kia K3 EX current Promo Price SGD 100,999/- with trade-in (K3 EX OMV approx. $13K)

Free upgrade:
- Leather Seats

- Blackvue Front Dashcam
- Reverse Camera w Sensors
- Bluetooth
- Tint Windows
- 5 Yrs Free Maintenance Package (by Maybank with min 50%/5yr loan at 2.6% p.a.)

The SX is about 7 or 8K more I think and the OMV is about $17k plus. Is the SX better value?
The last two items only apply if you go for the 2.6% p.a. loan package (still worth it if you work out)
Bluetooth is standard in the car audio. First 5 items are extras.

The price can go lower as the demand appears (to me) to be softening* as can be seen from the relative strength of the bids.

some of us have the price lists of the past months. C&C has this habit of stirring the water a bit so that people who are only cursorily looking would not be able to get the final price that easily. Ditto for Komoco (now they are more transparent)

Is the car worth it? The EX is not much different physically from the SX and the ride is soft and comfortable. I'd say "go for it" !

Ask for 3M mats (i did not ask) or at least a further discount of $1k. I suppose yours is the guaranteed bid? They should now be offering that*
The led fog lights look cool. Just don't understand why C&C don't bring this GT K3 option in. The look is a killer.

The SE didn't commit that the bid is guaranteed but he say 'sure can get'. The current EX stock is limited in quantity/colors so they are trying to push the SX.

I was also surprised by the slight drop in bids considering CNY is near. So am a bit hesitant to commit to a new car now. You can bicker with the SE for $1K or 2K and some freebies but it means nothing if COE fluctuates a few thousand next bid. Frustrating...

"Bicker"" argue about petty and trivial matters.

$1K-$2K is no small matter and not trivial at all. Even if COE goes against you, would not the further discount help? But of course if $2K is small change, I suppose you dont want to 'bicker'

I don't mean $1-2k is nothing. What I'm saying is that $1-2k means nothing if the COE prices dips. And chances are that it will dip just above the COE rebate from the dealer so buyers will just have to suck it up.

Unfortunately I cannot wait as my car will expire 1st Feb. Took the less risky choice and committed to a '08 Honda Airwave yesterday.

Like many others, I will hold on to the hope that COE will drop to $40-50k range further into 2015/16. Thenk I can confidently look at getting a new K3. Or perhaps a K5...

Both are nice.... Give both a test drive... See which one suit you more.

I settle for K3 because bigger cabin space andfeaturesand at lower pricing..
Features are vary from person to person though

Of course FC cannot compare to M3. By the way, heavy footers will not make any difference... hehe
Mazda 3 engine is rougher, noisier & less power, but handling wise Mazda wins hands down....equipment wise my SX version is the best...
did not test drive the MZ3 so cannot say much about it. i went for K3 for the features/price and C&C. And lastly, my previous good experience with my previous Kia
I also drive a Mazda 6,so i knew how noisy the engine is compared with my Kia.[Actually the Kia K3 belongs to my brother, drive once a week to market[.
as I grow older, I appreciate driving afamily non-descript car. is it me or what? I seem to find the car noisier. Higher expectations now?

7.8l / 100km means to run 100km, you will need 7.8l of fuel.
To convert to km/l, just divide 100 by 7.8, which gives you 12.82km/l, which means, every liter of fuel will let u travel 12.82km.

Just to share my FC (driving since 1 Oct 2014) - the FC I got for my last 5 pumps are:
11.0, 10.6, 10.7, 10.9 and 10.3 (km/l).

This gives an average of 10.7km/l. I was hoping it can maintain above 11km/l, but seemingly difficult for me. In this aspect, my previous ride is definitely better but the comfort level and specs far exceed the previous ride's standard, so not complaining :)

The meter reading from the car is not accurate. It usually hovers around 8.5l/100km, which is equivalent to about 11.7km/l; something that I have yet to achieve.
Thanks for sharing, very believable. May I check if ur on 15, 16 or 17 inch wheels? Mostly city driving?

I'm on 17" wheels... My routes are pretty standard... in the morning, Potong Pasir to Shenton Way (totally city driving), thereafter proceed to Tuas via AYE (have to travel about 7km on small roads after exiting from AYE). In the evening: from Tuas (another 7km till I hit highway) straight to Potong Pasir (via AYE or PIE)... usually will be caught in heavy traffic or bad jam. Daily travel about 66km. Based on personal estimation... I think can considered 60-65% highway?

At 90% highway, i manage about 8l/100km. Looks like the figures are only slightly better than the older Forte.

Thats 12km/Litre.
Sounds like K3 is 10-12km / L depending on traffic.

Does the Eurostyle Multimedia System brightness reset to 90% automatically after car off/on?
I reduced the brightness to 10% from the settings screen, but it defaults back to 90% the next time I start the car.

Hi, I did tried Bluetooth to play song... it does play.. using my LG G2.. shouldn't be any difference..

But basically never use that (always on radio) after initial trying..

BTW, anyone have experience that the seat cooling seems does not work once in a while??

I tried and it works with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Your phone needs to be already bluetooth paired.
It must also support A2DP.

Select Bluetooth.
Your phone should be connected at this time.
There is a "Mobile media" button on the upper left.
Click that.
The sound will be streamed to the car's audio when you select a song on your mobile phone directly.

Refer to page 25 and 26 of the instruction booklet for the "Mobile media" button location.

On my screen brightness question, it seems auto set based on ambient lighting.
Brightness went down to 50% at night, and could go up to 100% in the day.
I guess, I answered my own question.
I have a new question on the HU.
What is the purpose of setting different values under Apps > Audio > Advance?

I itchy finger pressed default. All values became 0, only the chime stayed at 5dB.
Anyone can share the values that comes with the delivery of your car?

The installation is done before delivery. So making appointment and interaction with Rikecool does not apply to you.

Bound to have some bubbles. Live with it as long it is not staring at you right in front of the windscreen.

My believe is the package offered through C&C will pass inspection. I will only find out 3 years later .

Having solar film is still better than not having them. Save you future trouble of installing on your own.
Thanks for your advices. I think will just see how it turns out since it is "FOC". Worse case, will redo it elsewhere.
Hi Guys; I got damn bad radio reception..any ideas how to improve it? Thanks

I managed to get 6.5l/100km after using 82% of my 2nd tank on RON92.

Based on trip meter:
Average speed: 41km/h.
Distance covered: 615km.
Time lapsed: 16:12 hrs

About 80-90% highway driving with smooth traffic.
Keep a reasonable distance to mimimize brake accelation need.
Roll to stop without hogging.

Mine is EX so comes with 205/55R16. I read articles smaller rim return better FC.
Pray hard this FC stays, if not get better.

i think my figures are stabilizing at 8.0l/100km. you using 92?? maybe i should try also.

Yes, I switched to 92 after pumping 1st tank with 95.
Today is my 3rd tank and I continued with 92.

I don't buy the idea of 95 being a "better petrol" when owner manual says 91 is the minimum; and based on the fact that RON is meant to prevent detonation.

My route and high percentage of highway definitely helped.
I am using 92 as well.

C&C is stating minimum of 95 although the owner manual claims 91 as acceptable. Had confirmed with KIA malaysia that all KIA vehicle currently can take 92.
When I had my GD1, I pumped 92. It went on for some time without problem.
Then one day, the cel indicator lit up. I sent the car in for check. They scanned and found the O2 sensor was faulty. They reset it and the cel indicator went off. I paid $60 for the service. Later, the problem returned. The Mechs could not do anything.
I changed to RON 95. The problem disappeared!

I don't know can this question apply to SX because I'm driving an EX with manual air con.

My idle rpm is 700 when I set the blower speed to 1 or 2.
Idle rpm will step up to 900 when I set the blower speed to 3 or 4.

Hi. i also have similar sympton on my K3. Idle went up to around 900rpm at speed 3 and 4.

Not sure is this a fault ?

Any other k3 owner have similar experience...
It is normal, modern cars idling speed adjust itself, depends on the load of the alternator, compressor,as long as not over 1000 rpm..then it is normal.

Yes,because Car Mfg knew now owners will complain if the car's vibrations are too much,so they make the idling speed adjust itself,so less vibration is felt.
Can I ask... Why did you guys choose K3 over Elantra? I'm caught between the two now...

Based on emo, good and want to have features.

Emo:
Prefer K3's design in and out.
Just could not appreciate Elantra's center console design and steering wheel.
Have to see and touch every day, so got to like it.

Felt Elantra cabin sounded noiser and more vibration than K3 during test drive.

Features:
Not fair cos for some, one have but the other not.
For preferred and can close one eye (can live without) feature, K3 gained more.

Actually features is to convince myself that I make a sensible choice.
If K3 had a K5 center console and steering wheel, I may have settled for Elantra.

That guy? No point rebutting there. I will post what he posted here and add my POV:

I think by now most Japanese and Conti car owners do not choose kimchi because
1) Bad FC. Do do trust their paperwork. I am getting 12.5km/l.
2) Bad resale. i sold my Koup previously at 9k/yr. Decent to me. It was sold in 2 weeks. so people were prepared to pay >$9k/yr for it.
3) Bad sound proofing. My existing G10 Altis soundproof is no good, do I have to buy a worse car? The K3 is quiet to me. Recently i was seated behind my friend who test droved a J car. I felt that my K3 was quieter. Cannot say for my Koup (noisier)
4) Bad finishing. Plastic interior start to vibrate 3 year onwards. Did not happen to my Koup which i drove for 4.5 years.
5) Bad gearbox. K cars are not known for their investment in R&D. Borrowed tech from last decade. Never had any problems with my gearbox. WW2 gearboxes can be reliable.
6) Bad pricing. They cost abt 5-10K diff compare to Jap cars. K OMV is comparable to Japanese and sells about $5-$10k cheaper.
7) Bad priced parts. Cheap cars don't come with cheap parts huh? That i dont know - never had to replace any parts that i need to pay. 5 year unlimited warranty - which J cars do that? Now Kia has 10 year Engine and 5 year unlimited warranty. Which J car give that? In Europe, Kia gave 7 years warranty, the last i checked. Confidence?
9) Bad paintwork. If you put same colour paint work with jap car you see the diff. Even a Jazz is better. I dont know but my Koup looked good even after 4 years - no i say one - my colleagues and friends did.
10)Bad quality. If you plan to drive more than 5 years. Be prepare to pay more for maintenance. I hope not because i plan to keep the K3 for > 5 years.

That poster is just sharing information from his friends/colleagues. May be true, may be false. I feel that K cars are no different from J cars, based on my visits to both J and K car showrooms.
Perhaps some readings (last 3 years) can help interested readers out:

Like what i said in another post, The Toyotal Altis was the other finalist for me when i considered changing car. At that point, the Altis was $10k more expensive than my K3(SX). I felt that the K3 had slightly more features as i did not do a direct comparison. Altis probably gave better consumption figures (1-2km more per liter, i believe)

Just checked - the Altis is $127,888 and the KIA(SX) is $114,000 if you have a car to trade in. Else is $120,000. The min difference is $7.9 k and max is $13.9k (disregarding scrap and CEVS)

For me, I'm only disagree to some point he/she pointed out.

Altis is a great car for me to agree.
FC on K3 not best for me compare to others similar ride, but at least K3 does not "drink" fuel like nobody business

I have 1 friend who I know closely drove Kia Cerato until scrap, now also change to K3.
Another friend drove Kia Forte for more than 5 years, no issue according to him. Serve him well.

And another relative, drove a Hyundai Avante. I have not heard any problem from him. In fact, his previous ride is Hyundai Matrix.

I'm a bit skeptical to buy K3 initially, considering buying car in Singapore is big commitment.
K3 is a huge upgrade from my previous Vios definitely.

Enjoying my K3 since day 1

And nice article link you shared

I noticed when I ease on the accelerator at ~70kph, ~2100rpm and 5th gear, trans will upshift to 6th gear; i just try to control an earlier upshift which would have otherwise automatically happen pretty soon.
Now if I let go of the accelerator instead, rpm will drop to ~1200rpm. Trans also upshifted to 6th gear.

I have no complains since lower rpm means lesser fuel consumption and I can be coasting a while at this speed.
I am just curious does that mean the trans went into Neutral?

Many articles advise against slowing down in Neutral as this could hurt the trans.
Very interested in how things work and keep up to date on new technology development that can turn old facts into myths.

Feedback also comes from branding perception.
You buy a more accepted brand, when things break down, it's known as normal wear and tear.
You buy a less accepted brand, when things break down, it's a lousy product.

I just find it interesting people can accept korean IT/Electronics over japanese brands. But less so with cars.

Definitely do not agree with the person on K cars view. Every own has it's good & bad. It was quite a heated argument and same thing happen in vezel forum as well. Everyone buy car based on his/her preference & budget.
Ya, agree with you. Vezel is a nice car too. I was looking at few cars when I purchased my K3. Altis, Mazda 3, Jetta, Sylphy and including Vezel. Too bad Vezel from PI only.. a bit scare for me :).

is AD bringing in the Vezel? they should considering the popularity

When I was choosing my car last year, K3 was my finalist. Dam impress with the features, super like the tail light, motorized driver seat, day light running lights, controls at sterling wheels ... etc & with the warranty throw in. Tough choice. But wife prefer SUV so no choice, she is the home minister & CFO. Lolx.
Heard that KM will bring in HRV, vezel equilivent but no spec yet. Anyway, bros here enjoy your rides & be safe.

You did right by listening to your wife.
i did the same too. Both Altis and the K3 were our favorites but the price set the K3 ahead.

Agree with SimpleCar, do not challenge your CFO... lol. But still, Vezel is a very good choice

Ya, as mention by Dino, AD bring in as HR-V. But I heard HR-V is using different engine than the one in Vezel.
i thought of leasing a K3 1.6 SX but i doubt my application will be successful.

Mine took less than 2 weeks from signing to COE and registration to collection.
Thanks for the feed backs, From a few reply and review on this car seem like delivery are considerable quite ok .

Hybridcar- > yours waited slightly longer compare the rest was it due to color ? As I remember I did a small survey in Mid 2014 Kia Sales was sluggish mainly due to delayed consolidation shipment , even SA at that time told me to wait longer not due to Q but due to shipment.

I presume most of you guys took up 6 bid instead of 1st bid guarantee.

AnywayK3 still best value in its category. Seriously thinking K3 or M3....

Hi, mine is due to colour. Golden Beat was not ready stock so I gotta wait. During that time, I wasn't rush for a new ride.

Mostly I know are 6 bids. As told frankly by my SE, no need as he is sure will get the COE.

I believe sluggish sales also due to a lot of new model introduce during the end of 2014.. M3, Altis, Qashqai, Vezel... etc..

Tested slyphy altis, k3 and m3.

Mazda 3 has no rear aircon. The plastic looks hard. Engine is abit noisy with poor insulation. Nevertheless, still a good looking b&b sedan. I like the suspension. The rest in the segment are too soft.

Yup... I'm looking for one with rear aircon vent when I'm scouting for a new car.

Previous Vios I had do not have this. Wifey always complain behind very warm.
Wifey also complain back seat room small for Vios.

Since Mazda 3 also don't have rear aircon, back seat also not roomy enough... so, we settle for K3.. Price also more attractive.
Although I have to say Mazda 3 is really nice looking car.

I am in the same situation as yours , Current Vios ... waiting to EOL .

Other passenger did complain behind was warm - so rear air-con is really one of the consideration.

The only diff is Wife prefer M3's design , one more thing is the Fuel economy .

Btw any of you did paint protection & tinting ? any recommendation or do it in JB instead ?

What's the current running plate anybody knows ?
Can I say that for K3, under 100% peak hour non-highway driving, the worst it gets is 10km per litre?
Ya rear aircon is also a consideration for my family. The basic K3 like the 1.6 NA Syl has that.

I did PPS for my car..

As for FC... Mazda 3is indeed better than K3. But the price difference did not make any significant advantage, at least to me.

Maybe close to that... But I'm not really sure.

Everyone know K3 FC is not the best as compare to others ride in the market currently.

Anyway, although I'm driving a K3 now... if FC is your main concern, stay away. Definitely there are much better like Vezel and Mazda 3..

So a K car 1.6NA/AT, so long as worse case scenario is 10km/Litre, I am ok. :). Though with Mix driving, 11-12km/Litre would be nice.
Looking for something with decent covered in metal protection, does not float at 100kmh. Occupant safety, rear aircon, kana rear ended safety for rear occupants.

Pricing is competitive. However, looking at the Premium %, its much lower that Jap cars. My believe its still the same business model. Sell competitively, but parts cost more.
OT : Oh my ws said that these day, for Cat A Nissan cars, the prices for parts seem to have gone up. Looking at the retail prices of Nissan, Toyota, Honda,.......Nissan may appear to be trying adopt the Korean business model...

i felt the same about the MZ3 in terms of engine noise. I suppose this can be mitigated by diy insulation etc.

8L / 100km = approx 12.5km per litre. Sounds in line with the 10-12 km / Litre depending on CIty or Highway driving.
PS : ur on 16 or 17 inch tyres?
The consensus on K5 2.0 is largely 8-10km / Litre by the same criterias?
