This is really joke of the universal.

    Big joke indeed.

IDA is incompetent and not doing their work.

It is IDA responsibility to allocate RF spectrum frequencies and to make sure it doesn't interfere with others and they are sleeping on the job.

How can there be a channel that no one knows about? I would have thought that there would also be a hardware limitation?

In any case, if your router is IDA certified and you modify it, how can IDA be blamed?

Anyway, you didn't specify if your router is military grade or not.

Interfering signal within the operating frequency band of the trains' signalling system wasdetected in Circle Line tunnel, but the source could not be verified. There was no incident last evening, hence the tests were inconclusive. In fact, since 4 pm yesterday, there has not been any loss of signal communication of train-to-track communications. SMRT and LTA said they will continue to investigate.

Irate shareholders could thwart SMRT privatisation

I will vote against the scheme. I feel the NRFF is not fairly worked out, which is the key problem. Temasek conveniently stepped in with an offer to buy out minority shareholders immediately after management secured a poor deal from LTA, said Mr Mano Sabnani, a veteran market watcher and a shareholder in SMRT.

    • SINGAPORE: Eleven first-generation LRT trains from the Sengkang-Punggol line were found with hairline cracks, after SBS Transit's fleet-wide inspection in July this year.

According to a joint press release from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SBS Transit on Friday (Sep 9), the affected vehicles have been in operation since the LRT line started in 2003.

    hairline-crack-splrt-data.png

The hairline cracks, which were found on the bogie frames, do not compromise its weight bearing property. One of the core functions of the bogie frame is to support the guidance system of the vehicle, the press release said.

An independent assessor, TUV Rheinland, found the defects were not safety-critical, which was an analysis shared by the manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), it added.

But as a precautionary measure, the 11 vehicles were immediately withdrawn from passenger service for replacement of the bogie frames. Six of them have been restored and returned to service, both parties said.

The remaining five are expected to be reinstated by mid-October 2016. LRT services have not been affected as there are 57 LRVs in the SPLRT fleet, and a maximum of 36 trains are deployed at any one time, they said.

To determine the cause, a sample of the affected bogie frame was sent to MHI for a detailed analysis. Both LTA and SBS Transit are working with the manufacturer toredesign, strengthen and replace the bogie frame structures on all 57 LRT vehicles.

The detailed improvement timeline is being worked out, and MHI will bear the replacement costs, they added.

SBS Transit has also been inspecting all vehicles on a weekly basis for any new defects, according to the press release.

How do you you SMRT meet "they must hold at least 75 per cent of the value of SMRT shares among those present at the meeting."??

Out of the 50% "other shareholders", how many percent do you think oppose the deal? And out of these people, how many do you think will be free or bothered enough to attend the EGM and vote?

Today, I put a screw on a piece of wood.

It develop a hairline crack where the screw is inserted.

I wonder if it's safety-critical to continue using that wood ?

If that wood piece belongs to you, then it is definitely unsafe.

If it belongs to SMRT, it is a surface imperfection.

Panic also no use if you must take the LRT. Lol.

Mr Khaw asked: "If you were to go public on something that is not major, would you (not) unduly, unnecessarily cause a panic among the people?

Either he learned his lesson from the last time or this new event must be something MAJOR.

Cracks do appear in commercial airliners, be it from Boeing, Airbus or any makers.

Some of which lead to near or total disaster..

A few lucky ones get away and live to tell the story while come don't have the chance.

Either he learned his lesson from the last time or this new event must be something MAJOR.

I am surprise why no one see the link. When the first hairline crack issue surfaced, there are 2 main questions, which only one are answered (about not bringing the issue to light - SOP answer: Not to induce undue panic). Anyone can remember the other important question (which are very much downplayed)? Why are we buying training from China?

In the earlier saga, our authority kept highlighting the train were purchased from Kawasaki, which in turn have a JV with CSRSF, indirectly denying we are buying the train from China. And now, with LRT, which I assume the crack and impact it is not as critical as MRT (due to different weight/load, distance traveled, etc.), it is time to shows that MIJ product may also have defects.

The trains were manufactured by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

actually it's not unusual for screws and rivets to drop off during flights. But, it's not safety critical.

Lucky these are not aeroplane. If aeroplane, Ja lat man. All will be grounded cannot fly. Safety is concern. Heng are..
