The fuel consumption quite high for this 1.6 engine. May be still in the process of run in? Our 2.5L Mazda 6 can easily clocked 12km/l. Hmmmmm...

Seem that all K3 models already support cruise control without any ECU upgrade. Those K3 owners in China is starting to do this mod by replacing the steering wheel controls and soldering back the led light on the instrument cluster. blink.gif

hey k3 owners, i am wondering how's the fuel consumption for your k3 is like?

i have collected mine for over a month and currently it is 8.7l per 100km. seems a bit on the high side as compared to a cerato forte..

    Hi Guys,

I'm driving a 2009 Cerato Forte and since taking the car, my fuel consumption has been around 10 - 13km/l. The lowest I went was 7km/l during running in period and my eyes almost dropped when I calculated by fuel consumption. But cos a bit heavy foot during that tank due to ferrying family members around with a full car constantly.

I would admit that the car is relatively heavy which sometimes requires a hard "push" to keep it going. For the newer cars, the fuel consumption will get better after running in, but it still boils down to how heavy footed are you.

The new k3 is so nicely equip!!! inlove.gif

My family owns the Hyundai Elantra 1.6GLS (on 15" rims).

I can nurse at best 11.8km/L (drive strictly to speed limit and move off really slowly- Eco drive). The worse I ever got was 8.6km/L with the accelerator flat to the floor driving....

Yeap, once past 120kph, the whole car feels like taking off. It's a light car by the way kerb (not even 1.2 tonnes kerb weight), so what do you expect?

Elantra and K3 are just nice looking, stylish point A to point B car, not a sports family saloon that's cheap.

The problem with the K3 along with the Elantra is the 1.6 litre engine, the torque below 2500 rpm is only adequate to get the vehicle moving.

Above 2500 rpm that is where most of thetorque will be produced (up till 4850 rpm). I have read that the 1.8 litre engine has the same

characteristics but the 2.0 litre GDI engine tends to perform better on the K3.

Recently went down to the show room and curious what is the hip about this car.

The interior is very nicely done and I love it ..can call it love at first sight.

Comparing the features with other brands of car that under the same price band (like VIOS, Elantra, Altis...etc), I wil say, this car beat them all in term of features.

I ask for test drive and with me are my friends to test the full load of it.. with 129 horse power..i like to say this car is really good. I like the feature of the two mode but since it a electronic steering ..i have my hold on it.

Overall it a nice car with the price tag. But, too bad, I just got my current ride just last year. If this K3 came out last year, i most properly will get this baby.

btw, for the current 97K promotion, I did ask about it. they will only bid between 40k to 50k most.

What is the default/recommend tyre pressure for K3? 240?

Is it using timing chain or belt?

Can it take 92 petrol or minimum 95?

    Thanks

    Pressure is 32 psi,but i prefer higher pressure,save fuel...also tyres tends to wear nicely..won't have uneven wear...oh min 95 petrol,but i only pumped 98.

i usually pump 98 and when there is v power promo at shell will pump that. minimum should be 95. can chekc fuel cap to verify

tyre pressure i pump n2 about 240+ when cold.

it should be a timing chain as the predecessor.

Recommended pressure is 220. But then, I am on 220 and I don't have good FC. ER-3682 bro suggested I up it to 38psi which I will do so and monitor further. It could be just I am lazy to control my right foot.

    thx for reply

I think 240 should be ok in this case? my current ride on 15" is pumped at 240.

u guys servicing at C&C? I enquired on changing the sound system and they mentioned no modification done if not void electronics warranty zzz

I think soundsystem they close 1 eye...but if you bring a better engine oil[i bring a top tier Motul 300v,0w-20],they said will 'kaput' the engine,i am not happy, because Motul oil are well known 'anytime better than their Shell Helix Ultra'...then they "LanLan" let me use.

This is one major consideration for me... For my previous vios, I only went back for the free 3 servicing, and after that, outside... The same goes for my current Latio which only service at tc once or maybe twice, the second time was when it reaches 3rd year, before warranty ends, just went back for the major service but nothing spoil... So, if kia void my warranty if I service outside, I might not consider it at all... Don't like to be forced feed with junk food when I could eat healthy stuff outside... Hehehe

U mean they allow u to service at outside ws w/o voiding warranty? I thought If warranty is 3 yrs for example, the moment u service outside within these period =void liao? As in its a sop amongst AD(s).

But comp is at 10.5 right? Thought min should be at 91 ron ?

Did the owner's manual have disclaimer stating that 0w grade should only be used under extreme cold temp & no prolonged highspeed & no towing ?

Bm and tc was quite lenient with it, I know some are quite anal about servicing outside... Now I'm not sure...

bm if u service outside rightful they void if not make it difficult for u to claim warranty.. i did my servicing 5 yrs with BM b4 I went outside for 1.5 yrs..

I dun mind servicing with them but i wun take the parts from them.. would change them outside for wear n tear.. those are carrot gao gao.

sure will void de if u dont go on a regular basis i guess.

no la its still factory assembled... I think the QA is not there tho especially for the paint work, a few bubbles and rough patches and a chip. Just gonna live with it except for the chip will do a small patching. Dun intend to respray the car when its still so new.
