More carbon deposit..Yah...i'm also very interested to know what will happen to your ride if you use lower grade petrol...
Hi, Bro. you should have collected your ride by now, please share!Any k3 bro manage to secure their COE this round? Btw, I got mine COE today :)
Yesterday pumped 33L of petrol covering 370km...average 11.22km/L,seems like 11-11.9 km/L is average for the K3,anyone getting better than this p/s share.
The fuel consumption quite high for this 1.6 engine. May be still in the process of run in? Our 2.5L Mazda 6 can easily clocked 12km/l. Hmmmmm...
Yah...i'm also very interested to know what will happen to your ride if you use lower grade petrol...
car will explode!
nothing will happen lah. the K3 isn't a high compression, TC monster.
Yes,my Mazda just pumped petrol[price up 4 cents.]...last tank 12km/L.The fuel consumption quite high for this 1.6 engine. May be still in the process of run in? Our 2.5L Mazda 6 can easily clocked 12km/l. Hmmmmm...

S'pore K3 came with cruise control as standard.Seem that all K3 models already support cruise control without any ECU upgrade. Those K3 owners in China is starting to do this mod by replacing the steering wheel controls and soldering back the led light on the instrument cluster.

Haven seen one on the road yet. Fr yr foto, like the elantra, it looks elegant and impressive. Exterior 100% outdrives Jap car.
From front view look like Bm, rear view look like Audi, side view look like elantra, a great car indeed, how about interior ?
What colour is your K3? Looks quite unique and different between day and night.Sorry just saw ur message, there you go, enjoy

the color code is 'Glittering Metal', it's light greyish, I dunno why under different lighting conditions, it may vary between Black, Dark Blue, light brownish. Sometimes also illuminate till dunno what color....

Nice car. Congrats!
hey k3 owners, i am wondering how's the fuel consumption for your k3 is like?
i have collected mine for over a month and currently it is 8.7l per 100km. seems a bit on the high side as compared to a cerato forte..
Hi Guys,
I'm driving a 2009 Cerato Forte and since taking the car, my fuel consumption has been around 10 - 13km/l. The lowest I went was 7km/l during running in period and my eyes almost dropped when I calculated by fuel consumption. But cos a bit heavy foot during that tank due to ferrying family members around with a full car constantly.
I would admit that the car is relatively heavy which sometimes requires a hard "push" to keep it going. For the newer cars, the fuel consumption will get better after running in, but it still boils down to how heavy footed are you.
The new k3 is so nicely equip!!!

I can nurse at best 11.8km/L (drive strictly to speed limit and move off really slowly- Eco drive). The worse I ever got was 8.6km/L with the accelerator flat to the floor driving....
Yeap, once past 120kph, the whole car feels like taking off. It's a light car by the way kerb (not even 1.2 tonnes kerb weight), so what do you expect?
Elantra and K3 are just nice looking, stylish point A to point B car, not a sports family saloon that's cheap.
Yes,i bring my own oil, they make noise...Yes,i used the paddle shift when turning a corner.yeah k3 indeed is packed with features.. love those european specs and the look of the car too! am trying to observe my driving to see if I push for better fuel economy still.. and you can use your own engine oil during servicing? c&c is using shell synthetic oil right.. anyone tried driving it with shifters regularly?
Today just pumped petrol,371km pumped 32L,work out to 11.59km/L...On Caltex 98 petrol,1st service done using Motul 300v,100%Syn,0w-20 oil.
Just curious, your servicing at C & C they let you bring own oil?
Last time I own Kia they don't allow bring own oil.
Can,they charged me $30 to dispose the old oil...I hate Shell oil...Just curious, your servicing at C & C they let you bring own oil?

used oil can be sold and yet still charges. Can,they charged me $30 to dispose the old oil...I hate Shell oil...
probably for labour cost carrying it to the oil bin to dispose
Can,they charged me $30 to dispose the old oil...I hate Shell oil...
Shell oil is lousy, that is why I want to bring own oil. But they don't allow previously. At the end I did most service outside with risk of warranty void.
we have a bunch of K3 peeps and plenty of forte and koups in the forum :)
Can,they charged me $30 to dispose the old oil...I hate Shell oil...
yea they always charge if you bring own oil de. haiz.
thats why i changed to shell during my 1k servicing and waiting for about 4k 5k then i go outside change to the oil of my choice

Is not that Shell oil is lousy la , but with that kind of price we can get a much more better oil.

The problem with the K3 along with the Elantra is the 1.6 litre engine, the torque below 2500 rpm is only adequate to get the vehicle moving.
Above 2500 rpm that is where most of thetorque will be produced (up till 4850 rpm). I have read that the 1.8 litre engine has the same
characteristics but the 2.0 litre GDI engine tends to perform better on the K3.

Having said that, new batch of K3 is different spec from initial batches already...

They K3 are out there. Maybe timing not the same as ours.
Once u notice it u will always notice it. :p
True, just like the latest Mazda 6, sometimes I can't find any in a month but once u spotted one, I will continue to see 3 or 4 in a day.. lol.

Recently went down to the show room and curious what is the hip about this car.
The interior is very nicely done and I love it ..can call it love at first sight.
Comparing the features with other brands of car that under the same price band (like VIOS, Elantra, Altis...etc), I wil say, this car beat them all in term of features.
I ask for test drive and with me are my friends to test the full load of it.. with 129 horse power..i like to say this car is really good. I like the feature of the two mode but since it a electronic steering ..i have my hold on it.
Overall it a nice car with the price tag. But, too bad, I just got my current ride just last year. If this K3 came out last year, i most properly will get this baby.
btw, for the current 97K promotion, I did ask about it. they will only bid between 40k to 50k most.
Just checked my engine oil level,4000km after 1000km servicing, using very thin 0w-20 Motul,300v,100%Syn oil,no drop in level, this show how good isKorean Engineering...If this is VW,i think by now at least half a litre gone.
How is everyone feeling with their K3 so far? Still don't see many on the road. I see about 1 in a week in Singapore. In JB, I can see about 10 a day on the road.

So far so good, only rear suspension too soft,at highway speed, one bump, will make the car unsettled..after using 0w-20 Motul 300v oil,car is very quiet, fuel comsumption went down, now about 12km/L....agreed very rare in S'pore, last night saw the latest Kia K5,even more sexy.

Pressure is 32 psi,but i prefer higher pressure,save fuel...also tyres tends to wear nicely..won't have uneven wear...oh min 95 petrol,but i only pumped 98.
Edited by ER-3682, 21 January 2014 - 10:15 PM.
i usually pump 98 and when there is v power promo at shell will pump that. minimum should be 95. can chekc fuel cap to verify
tyre pressure i pump n2 about 240+ when cold.
it should be a timing chain as the predecessor.

Recommended pressure is 220. But then, I am on 220 and I don't have good FC. ER-3682 bro suggested I up it to 38psi which I will do so and monitor further. It could be just I am lazy to control my right foot.

I think soundsystem they close 1 eye...but if you bring a better engine oil[i bring a top tier Motul 300v,0w-20],they said will 'kaput' the engine,i am not happy, because Motul oil are well known 'anytime better than their Shell Helix Ultra'...then they "LanLan" let me use.
lol see how it goes, i probably install my ICE after few servicing with em.. still waiting to collect car next week.. needa head down LTA to get my appeal done for car plate transfer.

Im used to using Castrol, even Borneo so niao last time also allow usage of own oil zzzz
This is one major consideration for me... For my previous vios, I only went back for the free 3 servicing, and after that, outside... The same goes for my current Latio which only service at tc once or maybe twice, the second time was when it reaches 3rd year, before warranty ends, just went back for the major service but nothing spoil... So, if kia void my warranty if I service outside, I might not consider it at all... Don't like to be forced feed with junk food when I could eat healthy stuff outside... Hehehe
U mean they allow u to service at outside ws w/o voiding warranty? I thought If warranty is 3 yrs for example, the moment u service outside within these period =void liao? As in its a sop amongst AD(s).

sure will void de if u dont go on a regular basis i guess.
but i cant be bothered to waste my time waiting and paying for overpriced oils and service. even since forte days, i also never go back .
as long my workshop that i frequent carries parts moving forward its fine for me.

wah... is it because it is assemble here? I mean I dunno where is the current batch made now. OCC and mine are done everything in korea including even the tyre, leather seat etc.
I think most B&B Korea & Japanese car leather are fit locally to reduce the OMV.
Not the K3,it got Cooling driver sideseat...

no la its still factory assembled... I think the QA is not there tho especially for the paint work, a few bubbles and rough patches and a chip. Just gonna live with it except for the chip will do a small patching. Dun intend to respray the car when its still so new.
