    My first car..

Nice! So they gave you the full "Smart Dollars". Nice. When I asked for the price they take my car in, it was atrocious to say the least.

Oh well, I decided to keep my car.

I got the full "Smart Dollar" because i was recommended by my friend who bought the car earlier. Else, i wouldn't get that price too...

    Hi All,

Since I'm waiting for my car to arrive.. i would like to ask what dvr (in-car camera) you guys installing? Installation will void warranty?

    I'm looking at Thinkware FXD900.

Also for PPS, any difference between CS-II and Revol? or don't need :)

    thanks

Haven use CS-II before, but I signed for Revol 1+4 Zetough package about 1.2k for 3 years, their services very good, but frankly speaking, the PPS is not as good as I expected, in fact, I dont think any PPS in the world can last more than 3months in Singapore weather with weekly mild washing unless home and office both are sheltered. Then again if your home and office both parking shelter, might as well dont put PPS since you dont have much to protect anyway.

So if you want to go for revol, I would suggest just picking their basic grooming package and dont pay extra few hundred bucks just for better product, their service worth the dime, but the product dont.

I m using blackvue, but I think fxd900 is not bad either. I got blackvue from qoo10 cheap that's y install it.. Else fxd900 is my first choice...
I don't think will void warranty. Kia repair advisor told me as long as I don't modify engine or brake that will jepodise safety it's all right...

Hello, can anyone advise if we must get insurance from C&C as part of the contract to purchase or we can get from outside? I think theirs is from AIG (dunno what plan though).

Turns out for the 1st yearthe insurance is provided byC&CKia and AIG as a package for new car. I think it's similar to Mitsubishi Auto Protector plan.

Lazy to quote so I just type as I remember.

I am using FXD900, ZMC brought in a new model (with LCD screen), supposedly 'better' but it does look big to me when I see it. Didn't see how it will look like after install so cannot comment. Installation done by ZMC and won't void warranty. Connect direct to battery with parking mode, auto cut off at 13V. If you didn't charge your battery enough in the day time, it may not last you whole night (I drive very short distance daily).

PPS, I am using Revolz too, also 1+4 plan. My friend went with a different coating with them which can last 1 year instead of mine 6 mths. But like some bro above said, it won't exactly last 6 months. Nonetheless it is better than nothing, having the car polished frequently help to remove the light scratch marks too. There are some cheaper option out there too. Again like the bro said, Revolz is very pro and they charge at premium.

Kia default like OCC said has to be 1st year AIG. I am using them for my 2nd year, Auto Protector plan any workshop too with $100 service voucher free. I didn't change to other because my friend helped me sourced for quote (in insurance biz) from 6 different companies (I didn't ask which 6) and concluded my AIG one is still cheaper, so I just continue with AIG.

    I also don't quote Liao..

How is your K3 so far? Any major problem.? I will collecting mine somewhere around sept/Oct.

Still checking on in-cat camera and pps. I have been asking around :)

Frankly speaking, I still don't see many K3 on road even after 1 year. I only regularly see one a
near my work place (Boon Peng Road) & near my place (glittering metal, bukit batik west)

K3, city drive should be ok. I am heavy footed so when I drive in Msia I find it not powerful enough. On SG road no issue.

In-car camera really depends on individual. Some prefer the image quality, some prefer the parking mode, some prefer the ease of access.

K3, I think all in all maybe sold 200-300 units in SG? My pure wild guesstimation. I've seen around 20 diff K3 on SG road in the past year. In JB, there's a lot more.

The only reason I'm not placing k3 as my 1st choice is the fc,,,.. What's your driving route pattern? 50/50 between expressway and urban?.. although I spend more time on expressway (70/30), I have a heavy right foot..

mine fluactuates from 7+8+ up to 10+L/100km all depends on where and how i drive tho. but average mine is around 8+9+ with traffic jams and alot of city driving. also boils down to my right foot :pi would quote as i am a heavy right footer

i have a friend he is averging 8+L/100km for 50/50

ventilated seats? something like aircon seats or some wind that blows on your back and butt :p

mine is the first batch which is slightly different form current SX model. but yes cruise control and driver memory electrical seats is within the SX model. i would also say i like the front and rear parking sensors and the Smart welcome lighting system is nice to have too ehhe

i am actually from the cerato forte 1.6 EX and i upgraded to this k3. personally find alot of improvements.

8plus9plus/100km with plenty of city driving and heavy right foot is ok if you ask me. K3 really value for money cos those features like cruise control, memory seats, ventilated seats are normally for exec car range not 1.6l.

Yes I think it's for the SX version which costs more but I don't think Elantra premium version has so much features and the biggest joke in the market now is that K3 has memory seats whilst Benz C180 doesn't!!

    Hello all.

Just booked my K3 (SX model) last week. Decided to go with the K3 after looking around for a new car to replace my VIOS whose COE is expiring next May. The so call "freebies" I got were the touch screen LCD (comes with GPS, Reverse Cam, DVD), Rikecool solar film & zertona paint protection. Have no idea on the specs for the LCD and the PPS. Also looking around for good DVR, or pop my current Blackvue over.

Actually I still quite happy with my blackvue. Only problem is not sure how to remove my dual cams from my current windscreen nicely as they are sort of permenantly stuck there. Can get additional holder but only the main cam one is available. I have a magic power pro on my car now. Not sure if there will be warrant issue with C&C cos the magic power pro needs to be connected to the fuse box. Sent an enquiry to KIA 2 days ago but no reply received yet.

Received a reply from KIA today. Telling me that in the future, if anything goes wrong and they trace the cause back to the device (cam / power magic pro) I installed, then they will not warrant the warranty and since the cam is connected 24/7, the load on the battery will increased. Thus, they won't cover the warranty of the battery too. Likewise, if I were to change my horn, the same thing - if fault is trace to horn / fuse box due to the horn installation then no warranty.

That's why after my autosaver I purchased way back finished. I went outside to do my own EO changes.

It's too crazy to pay that much for a normal servicing too...

As a Vios owner (2008 model), I can say that any Vios owner who steps from a Gen1 or Gen2 Vios into a new K3 will be awed by all the stuff in the new car. The Vios is very austere by comparison. The best thing about the Vios is its bullet proof reliability and FC... but everything else... meh!

For mine, I was to toldsomewhere around late Sept/Early Oct when I booked my K3. I did a recent check with my SE if the for update of my K3 delivery date. No problem for SE to check for you.

Haha.. I'm alsoown aVios Gen2 owner (still have the car in JB [:p])..

Personally I think current Vios design.... hmm... [shakehead]

Although my 9 years with Vios still never give me any problem... seriously.. only aircon once..

Major features attract me getting K3 is

    - Car cabin size. Definitely bigger than Vios and feel similar for my bro Altis

    - Aircon vent at the back. My rear passengers keep complaining the Vios Aircon very weak.

    - Dual zone aircon

    - Memory seat. (Ahem.... New Merc C180 listen...)

    - Aircon (and Heating seat) seat

    - Electric chromatic rearview mirror..

    - Control on steering wheel

    - Price.. $$$

But as a lot of ppl (those die die against Kimchi & K3 one.. lol) say since there are a lot of features/gadgets in car.. it may well mean more chance for things to break down.. hmmm...

I don't know, my old Acer laptop still serves me well after 5 long years...lol

Maybe current owner can advice if there is a major problems so far they facing?

    - Control on steering wheel

    - Price.. $$$

But as a lot of ppl (those die die against Kimchi & K3 one.. lol) say since there are a lot of features/gadgets in car.. it may well mean more chance for things to break down.. hmmm...

I don't know, my old Acer laptop still serves me well after 5 long years...lol

Maybe current owner can advice if there is a major problems so far they facing?

Hmm, not sure if my 2005 Vios is gen1 and gen2, but all the things u listed attached me too, and more.

Yah, really not sure if all the electronics / features, or KIA (for that matter) is reailable or not. I hope it can last 9-10yrs without major breakdown (i.e. gear box, engine etc).

So how long u got to wait from securing the COE to able to drive off with your new ride?

Ha. you are right. Altis is one first car I'd looked at (in terms of specs and price) when I started looking for a car replacement for my vios. However, the price, specs and interior design turns me off. [:p]

My COE WAS secured during 2nd July exercise.

But I was already told beforehand (when sign the paper) that my order will be arrived earliest mid-Sept, otherwise early Oct. I order Golden Beat + Brown leather seats.. so gotta wait.

Ya, I hope electronics will last through 9-10 years :)

Sorry to hear that mate. It's the same for Borneo Motors. I wanted to install my own dashcams, but BM insisted that it would void their warranty and they wouldn't respect it if I insisted on using my own. However, if I were willing to shell out $750 to install their front and rear view Blackvues, they would be happy to do so, and respect the warranty. Same issue on the horn.

Personally I can understand where the ADs are coming from, given the parts may not be under the same coverage and may not be installed by their qualified technicians. But it does make me feel most cars nowadays ain't built with the same dexterity and robustness as the earlier days.

Oh well, you can always keep your current dashcam and have it tapped to your IU once the 5 year warranty is over :)

I dont really appreciate the interior of the new altis, looks so outdated.

Thinking how come till date, cannot find k3 on used car market?

I will keep my current dashcam, but if i want it to monitor my car while it's parked, I will have to tap it to the battery. That's where the warranty on the battery will be gone. Small issue for the battery but i will be tapping to the fuse box. not a big thing, but just don't like the way they put it. Seems like once you touch something, everything that is linked will risk voiding the warranty. in this case, anything electronic, since all will goes back to the fuse box in one way or the other.

Haha.. I'm alsoown aVios Gen2 owner (still have the car in JB [:p])..

Personally I think current Vios design.... hmm... [shakehead]

Although my 9 years with Vios still never give me any problem... seriously.. only aircon once..

Major features attract me getting K3 is

    - Car cabin size. Definitely bigger than Vios and feel similar for my bro Altis

    - Aircon vent at the back. My rear passengers keep complaining the Vios Aircon very weak.

    - Dual zone aircon

    - Memory seat. (Ahem.... New Merc C180 listen...)

    - Aircon (and Heating seat) seat

    - Electric chromatic rearview mirror..

    - Control on steering wheel

    - Price.. $$$

Yup still driving older forte.. I've got the 2010 version.

If you're thinking of getting the older model, the most important to take note on the engine, air-con compressor, alternator, v-rib belt, it runs on timing chain therefore no issues. The interior are quite hardy. Look at the wear and tear parts as it's not really cheap to replace if you're thinking of going back to AD.

But overall, the engine is really smooth and spacious.

I like the current k3 of the new upgrades in the driver aids..

    hi guys...i'm comparing the 2014 Mazda 3 with the 2014 KIA K3.

any insights on the avg FC assuming easy driving 60% highway / 40% city driving?

What is the actual avg for drivers here?

i have a friend who drives a K3 conservatively yet he got about 12km/ltr despite it being new.

thank you so much in advance!

So long as the K3 can safely return at least10km per L under 70 city / 30 highway, i will take K3.

Mz3 seems too complex & sophisticated for my liking. I would imagine that I would be held hostage by the AD in more ways than 1...

Thks for the info! K3 has alot of features which most 1.6l cars don't have like rear air-con, memory seats, ventilated seats, cruise control etc so I guess quite worth to pay the extra. K3 has risen the bar for 1.6l cars and kudos to the Koreans for doing this!

I've been driving EX since last month, so far so good. City highway 40/60 FC around 11 to 13km/l with featherlite right foot. Read somewhere ppl said engine not powerful enough even for overtaking but I think need to feel the things under the hood to know when to step the accelerator. Few times I totally missed it resulting in higher gear lacking power and I slowly get back to my lane.. Hehe.. Am I talking sense here?

Read somewhere ppl said engine not powerful enough even for overtaking but I think need to feel the things under the hood to know when to step the accelerator. Few times I totally missed it resulting in higher gear lacking power and I slowly get back to my lane.. Hehe.. Am I talking sense here?

Use the paddle shift, downshift 2-3 gears for overtaking. [thumbsup]
