    It's still world class.

Even the CEO rate it B for breakdown.

So be happy, you have a world class MRT. :D

It is a track intrusion not a breakdown.

    Can't SMRT prevent track intrusion?

We can't have anyone just suka suka go into tracks and disrupt the trains operation !

This is critical transport leh !

Don't think we need isis to disrupt our daily lives, just some goondoo to go into tracks and we are all affected...

trains down, more buses will need to be deployed and then more congestion on the roads, etc etc...

That's why, shouldn't SMRT prevent track intrusion, by installing more barriers, more CCTV, more staffs at the platforms to monitor, etc etc? They are already earning so much profits, can't they spare some to increase security?

The whole incident was very messy right from the start, announcements were made that free shuttle buses were available next to the canteen at the interchange. Huh? Where's that? Went down with droves of people and in the end nothing but confusion for majority of us as there were no ushers or signs. Gave up after a couple of minutes and walked home. Pheeew! What a workout!

nothing is free. For the amounting of walking you need to walk to hunt down the pick up point, must well walk straight home.

Whether it is track intrusion or whatever, if the train service is disrupted and people cannot take the train, it is consider 'breakdown'!? And I find that since there are so many times of train service disrupted, how come the free shuttle bus service still so messy, confused and disorganised? The so called crowded controller at the free shuttle bus service did not direct the effected commuters to the boarding bay, and also did not indicate any signboard that the bus go to where?

    breakdown => disruption

    disruption =// breakdown

when a train in service breaks down, it disrupts the flow and frequency.

when there is a disruption, the disruption could be due to many other factors, e.g. weather, intrusion, foreign objects on tracks, etc besides train or train's ancilliary faults.

Singaporeans that complain about being packed like sardines every morning should be grateful that our MRT system is maintained at high standards.

Delays and frequent break downs are safety measures, designed into our MRT to avoid overstressing the trains.

    Sincerely
    Future MRT CEO (hopefully)

News reporting jin clever. Saying the fault was cleared in half and hour but never say the back log of passengers caused more delays as more of them tried to board the already packed trains. The operator also never tried to do anything to control the situation. They just call off the free buses.

They should send the SMRT maintenance team to Hong Kong to learn from MTR, which started operations in 1979.

HK population growth since 1980 is also pretty fast, there is no reason why Singapore cannot learn to better maintain our train network despite the overloading day in day out.

lta chui kong LP song lah.. unacceptable? joke lah!

Pity those engineers and technicians who need to stress and work OT for the past 2wks. The frequent breakdown should be due to previous poor planning and cutting budget on maintenance when the lady was CEO.

this problem has arise more than two yrs till now still not solve.

How to give up car when u knock off at 6 pm, train break down 1hr and your normal journey take 1hr.

by the time reach home 8pm liao, still need to makan and some personal time to relax.

where got time to make baby or spend more time with kids.

Hope they can see and understand of the ripple effect they are creating.

if u know the engineers and techs, u will know most are skiving work. Go through the motions. i know cos my best bud was one of them!

Mr Desmond Kuek, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SMRT, added: We apologise for the rail incidents over the past week. Our transport professionals are giving their all to make your journey a better one. The SMRT team will stay focused on safety and reliability improvements as we work to renew Singapores ageing rail network to the benefit of our commuters."

Is it because they still have not found the root cause of so many breakdown for the past fewyears?

It seems like they are trying to fix the issue they thought is the problem but in fact it is more deep than that.

If not I cannot think of so many breakdown even after they ramp up the change of wooden slaps to concrete slaps and other measures that they had took but do not improve.

So conclusion is that they maybe chasing the wrong direction and the root of the problem still haven't found and solve yet.

    * Until they found the root cause of the problem and tackle it , if not I still think they are all going towards the wrong direction . :-X

Example london heathrow crash landing, see how investigation team took so long to find out the root cause of problem that cause the crash.

So SMRT really found the root cause of problem ?
If yes why are there still so many breakdown ?

The elites here only knows one thing,

    old = useless = breakdown

Just like they levy 50% more road tax on vehicles over 10 years, old = breakdown.

They do not know the word "maintenance" which makes the difference, be it new or old.

If new = good, why Circle Line also breaks down ?

Obviously, something is terribly wrong and smells strongly of incompetence.

Seems like the bunch of you here really like to talk nonsense without using your brains.

Why do you think they put some parachute general to be the SMRT CEO? This is because he is in tuned with ourTotal Defence philosophy.

The world is fast becoming a dangerous place (with the rise of terrorist organisations like ISIS and the WP) so all these breakdowns are drills to let Singaporeans learn what to do when we get attacked and the trains no longer runs on time.

Get it? If you don't know, please keep your mouth shut.

Must be the bad influence of opposition, their incompetency in managing their works have seeped into the minds of general public and everywhere.
This wouldn't have happened if there were all elites to start with.

Obviously, something is terribly wrong and smells strongly of incompetence.

I think there is more then maintenance, they should look into everything from the train weight they bought past few years as compared to many years back, full cabin loading, stress load, track design, and everything.. Maybe there is some flaws in calculaton or design which is separate from maintenance side? Will never know. They really need to look deep into everything why breakdown is getting more and more often instead of so fast blame on old age. If old age, why north east line and circle line also breakdown so often? There must be something more then that.

If we would to look at my previous post on London Heathrow aircrash, at 1st they have the whole aircraft, pilot, passenger and investigation team thought that it would be an easy one to find what is the root of the issue that cause the crash. However they was wrong, it took the investigation team 2 years to find the root cause, they even build a prototype fuel system of the aircraft just to simulate with the actual flight. End up they did found its a design issue that can cause ice to clog up the fuel system when in right condition and right timing when pilot were to make power adjustment that affect less then 1 % of out of so many flight as it. Boeing since make changes to the design to the fuel system in one of the component so that the ice will not be trapped in that area. All Boeing 777 had since been rectified.

Think this is an important lesson smrt/sbs transit team can learn from it. Find the root cause of problem and tackle it. If not it will keep cause the breakdown.

The one response I have is

Paper Tiger in charge will always have NATO officers around. Go meeting, sit inside and come out with crap.

During GE, says no foresight... After GE always use the backside and throw sh**, use tax payer money buy buses and MRT for PRIVATE company.

Then use COE to wipe backside, and petrol to flash toilet. And yet the "Public Toilets System" still smells of sh**

Claim mistakes made by leaders must commit harakiri, yet all of them still sitting on the toilet seats continue to sh**. while shi**ing, still can threaten that if they don't give sh**, Singapore will be in chaos.

We are already in deep sh**, want to get out? then don't be a NATO.

Sorry for the language but no words can describe the situation we are in right now - lose lose. Why?

Buy cars got expensive COE and high petrol tax...

Take MRT have to tahan the frequent breakdown...

Take bicycle gets honk by inconsiderate drivers and ppl complaint of "BO"

Take taxi can't get one during peak hours yet LTA claims more taxis than commuters

Take bus have to squeeze like sardine

Use Uber and some idiot can exploit it thinking that he wouldn't get caught

Ppl suggest work from home yet employers don't even want to try

Use a bit money from reserve scared it would become a deficit economy

    To conclude: -

    Crap leaders with tiny mindset

Most should have voting stations near their own place. Can walk there, show IC, drop slip and be out in about half an hour.
