my ride is a 1982 Mazda 323 and my tyre was 175/70/R13, this tyre tat came with the rim was 165/60/R13.
is there any difference in car performance with the wheel diff?? this current wheel look so much smaller den the previous one...
below i've upload some of the pics of my ride's new shoes
first pic is the old rim still on my ride where the "new" rim is lying nicely on the floor
second pic is after the full set of rim changed..
175/70 R14 = Overall diameter of 575.05 mm
165/60 R13 = Overall diameter of 528.06 mm
You do know that 165/60 R13 tyre size are not common for cars?

he say the previous rim was not even mazda orginal..itz taken from mitsubishi de...
well i dunno whether he said is true anot as this ride my dad got is a 2nd hand...and when it came itz already like that *as in pic 1, and btw the tyre has spary paint marks on it..guess they touch up the rim's paint with the tyre on..so is there any way to get rid of the colour?? looks kinda toot with the colour on the wheel
but after changing to this tyre the car feels alot lighter while driving and the steering wheel is lighter too...so izzit ok for my car to haf this tyre? i also dam scare to drive fast coz the tyre so small scare drive halfway the tyre blow!!

BTW, since it's so cheap, u better test the rims & tires for vibrations first. Also check that the tires r not "reject" tires that failed QC.
If they pass these tests, U got a damm good deal there.

Since the size is a little small, u might want to upsize to the original 175/70/13 when u change your tires next time. For the time being, remember that your speedo & odometer will show slightly faster & longer readings. The up-side is u sud have more power.

Is yours manual or auto transmission? IMHO (I could be wrong), I think auto transmission cars are more sensitive to correct tyre size than manual ones. Basically the recommended difference is within 3% of your original tyre diameter.
Check out this link: http://www.1010tires...eels#plussizing

thou we bought this car on 2001 and extended the coe till next year
Why u change tires & rims if u gonna scrap it soon??? Just get cheap "trade-in" tires for about $10 ea & use till u scrap.
I remember the Mazda 323 well as a friend used to drive one long ago. Not a bad car as it's quite spacious & easy to maintain. The 323GT was a real killer at that time.
Rust was a problem though. Yours seems to have no rust at all. Very well maintained on that aspec. Pity to see it go as it's quite a classic.
Mine is a 89 AT171 corona cd which is still in very good condition & I might try to keep it for as long as possible & see how long b4 it gets scrapped.
so he offered this for 100 so i thought this would be better...
well u say no rust?? there are some la..and not very big patches...but the paint work sux...my dad respary the car himself using those can spary...look dam sucky....and yur yur corona is a 1991 one rite?? when coe finishing?

My car is 1989. COE expires in 4/2009. Might extend but have not decided yet. Must see the COE when the time gets closer.
If I renew coe, i'll spend some $$$ to do it up nicely to last the length of the coe. Only prob is maybe difficult to get spare parts when it gets more than 20 years old.
How did u manage to get spare parts for your 82 car? Malaysia?

I went to junk yard to get parking lights after someone hit mine & broke it. They told me not much spares going to bring in for >15 yo jap cars as not much demand as most have been scrapped.
I more concerned about body parts. Engine parts they sud still have as many r compatable with newer cars.
I consider to renew coe as if it drops to $10K, just think. My car's depreciation will only b $1k per year. Unbelieveable.
Where to find a car as transport which costs only $1k per year. Will be much more cheaper than public transport.

tested the rim today for the whole afternoon feeling was great..pick up is better and can feel more power...hm..dun tink will wanna change my tyres already as this babe will be sending for scrap liaoz..
fren, boh scrap value liao... its directly to scrap yard...
super classic!!!
Now using Mobil Delvac MX 15W40, better than the 20W50 I've been using. Slightly better acceleration and FC. This is a HDEO, which was recommended by Genie47. Rather strong additive and detergent in this oil, and I'll go with this one for 3 oil change and consider this as a 'oil flush' for my engine. According to Genie, its good for 10k km but I'm replacing it every 5k ~ 6k interval.
Bought 2 bottles of cxxxxxe 5W40 recently, and will be switching over sometime early next year.

and on last mths issue of hotstuff mag, saw this ad from autobac tat they do this engine flush service, is my car able to do tat?? coz when i call up they tell me not recommended for my car...

Delvac MX 15W40 should be safe for your engine. But be aware that its HDEO, meaning that its suitable for both diesel and petrol engine. Since got robust additive and detergent, it should gives a gently clean up of your engine - safer than those engine flush.oic...hm..coz my mech uses castrol 20W50 on my engine..which i find itz not smooth....so can the mobil one be used on my ride?? dam scared use liaoz later my engine KO!!

Sorry, no pic available.haha wad's yur ride?? got pics??

Mine is the last of the carb cars made. But my FC is not bad. Now abt 11-12 km/lit.
Used to get 13km/lit with the old but lean running carb. Also I use MY petrol so price is very cheap.

for my car the FC is really bad...about 7 or 8 km per lit
Is that oil fleet oil? Meaning its suitable for both diesel and petrol engine. Look out for API grading of SJ, SL or SM on the bottle. If have then it should be safe for petrol engine.oic...hm...coz few mths back there's one time i drive until theres totally no engine oil inside..den lucky my dad use to keep a spare bottle of engine in the car...and when i took out itz duckham ment for diesel engine one..end up i top up and still can drive..haha
===================In that case, mine will also become a classis in 6 years time.

I've still got 13 years to go. Might just make it though.

According to Foxbat1978 defination, >20 years old is classis.
For yours if another 13 years will become SUPER classis liao.
============================In that case, mine will also become a classis in 6 years time.

If your car is 1991, it'll b 30 in 2020. About 15 years to go.Mine will b 2018.
=======================haha but i tink when u see the real paint work of my car i tink even u got looks and charm no gals will wanna hitch a ride!! lol
for my car the FC is really bad...about 7 or 8 km per lit
Your FC is bad bcos yr engine is badly worn. If your oil can burn up till empty, the only way to save it is with a complete overhaul. Many other things cud need attention too. Like the gearbox, bearings, alignment shocks & so forth. All these will contribute to poor FC.
If your car was very well maintained, u sud still b getting a respectful FC.
Even beat up car can catch girl. But she also will b "beat up".

Errr.....don't think I'll want my car to go SUPER classis.============================In that case, mine will also become a classis in 6 years time.

haha beat up gal huh..lol
U might get the handle in JB scrap yards but please don't ask me where they r. I also don't know.

Most difficult wud b body parts & lights & such. Engine & mechanical parts I think sud b not so bad.
maybe stevering drives slowly...heh heh..hence getting 13km/l...Mine is a carburator engine, and I can get >12km/l constantly.
My best FC record so far is 13.5km/l ~ 13.9km/l, but only 2 or 3 times only.
Another MCFer (Stevering) driving the same make and model as mine is getting >13km/l.

broke door handles...wahz..then how to open door??haha i dun tink my car can reach till tat age rite?? now alot of things breaking liaoz lor...tat day my sis just broke one of the door handles...
dunno where to get one and replace it also
Ya, I saw that car.......but I thought it was a Nissan (Datsun) wagon?actually i have raised concern on availability of spare parts for our oldies with simon, his mech said sure no prob, sure got parts. The dark curly hair mech drives 1.3 old toyota...not sure wat model, its those 4 door hatch back type

Great. Thanks for the tip. I'll see him if ever i have spares problem.

But make ure the colour matches that of the car. We don't want it to look ugly, right.

U might want to try Simon as Xtraun mentioned they can get spares for old cars.
We can use this as a test to see how good he really is.

U can call him first to check & then go there & they can fix it up for u. For your car, it sud not b expensive. Otherwise just leave it as it is till u scrap the car.
U can just screw on a strap or something for pple to pull the door shut.
To convert to run on unleaded, u just need to change the valve seats to the harder type.
Not too difficult & much cheaper than buying lead additive all the time.

Edited by Kanr, 14 October 2005 - 10:26 PM.
i dunno how to tell him new car is better..haiz

Most ws can do the conversion but in your case, don't waste yr $$$. Maybe convince your dad to buy a 2-3 y.o car but they still quite ex as COE was high then. Look at 1 y.o. cars then.

U can consider a new Matrix or Optra 5 , as there quite cheap now. For me I need to change in 3 1/2 years time & there sud b some very cheap 3 1/2 year old cars to choose from then, unless the car price goes up by then, then even the 2nd hand cars will become ex again.

Then all those who bought now wud make $$$ when they sell.

Buying car in SG is like playing the share market.

As for convincing his dad, looks like a long wait for him.

Can lah. Your car going to scrap soon, so can lah.
Just make sure u dont open the radiator cap if the engine is hot or warm even. You'll burn yourself when the hot water comes gushing out.

unless the one i bought is already pre-mixed
==================================haha coz after all i still tink shell's petrol better..where my car now only can pump esso or mobil
What makes u say shell petrol is better???
And why now u can only pump esso or mobil???
now only can pump this 2 company's petrol coz they are the only one selling those lead additive!!

Anyway u going to scrap soon.
nope will drive till coe finish i guess which is next year aug
now only can pump this 2 company's petrol coz they are the only one selling those lead additive!!
===========================================
Hmmmmm...... very interesting line of thought. Let me try to figure this out first

even for me when i just got my licences i went to rent car...
starting i pump esso 95 den use finish liaoz bo bian drive into shell and top up the 95
i find the car got more power den when i pump esso's 95
If the last time u changed the coolant was like 1 or 2 years ago, then best if u throughly flush (incl what's in the engine block), then fill with the mix ratio as instructions.
If u just want to top up & coolant last changed long long ago, pour whole bottle into radiator of reservoir if u have one. Sud not cause any problems.

Just a little test. Next time your petrol empty, get a fren to fill up but dont tell u what petrol he use.
If u can guess correctly for 5 times, I buy u lunch.

eh cannot la...for my car standard one wad...only this 2 company nia

the one u bought is the so-call concentrated coolant, need mix with water
top up the whole thing?? whole bottle is about 500 ml wor...u serious ah...i remember i went for an army mech course they say coolent put 50% den plus water...
unless the one i bought is already pre-mixed
lucky is inside broken, not outside, else u gonna open door from insideitz from the inside..the one we use to close our door...hee
wah...then go to simon anytime since so near ur hseicic...dun mind u pm me the add...den free i drive down haf a look..i stay near yew tee..hee!!
i made that mistake once...ouch!thankz bro..btw wanna ask today while i go top up petrol went to bought a bottle of coolent den when i top up izzit i pour the full bottle into my radiator tank or half??

I made that mistake several times. I was too impatient, I guess. Once the rad cap went flying dunno where, but lucky I carried a spare. Later found the cap on the trailing arm. Lucky it didn't fall off when I was driving around.
