I think just plug and play. No need troublesome installation.

Join the probably MO so that we can get this at a cheap price. wink.gif

    Hi Guys,

To clarify. USD 90 is just the camcorder with 14MB internal memory, AC charger, av cable, usb cable, pouch, ...etc. Optional item like car charger is USD 4, HDMI cable USD 1.50, bracket USD 6.00, wide angle lens USD 10.00.

SD memory not included. Shipment cost not included.

Try ebay, you can get a 16GB Class 6 for just SGD25.

Bro how much storage space does the F500HD takes up for a 15min recording? And is there any pause or auto loop after the memory card is full?

15min is about 900MB which is less than 1GB. Yes, you can pause anytime. Auto Start, Auto loop functions and are available as per standard In-Car DVR.

F500HD is from DOD Taiwan. Google to find the contact details, not very diffcult. You can try buying a sample unit from them but you need to submit your company profile for them to evaluate first.

Alternatively try ebay taiwan. SGD300 per unit includsive of shipment.

Regarding the DRS1100PRO, since it doesn't have a LCD screen, like to know how you position
this device and know that it was recording at the proper or correct area?

The delay you are talking about is the bottle neck of the SDHC memory since all flash memory take longer time to erase than read or write.

edit: oh someone posted above me laugh.gif

like the guy said, both have its strengths. while wide angle can cover wider area at close range, it cant see far objects as clear as the normal angle one. (check out the other video : HD720P vs. F500HD cop gets cut off)

wahlin, where did you get your F500D from? got website where u purchased? u had a MO as well?
so as u say, it does not have any time lapse in between files.. ? can it auto start record when 12v power is supplied?

yeah.. also found the ebay link: Ebay Link for F500HD

They even have an optional wide angle lens !!

    The price for the F500HD on ebay is: S$ 239.61 + +S$ 45.42 (S&H).
    And the wide angle is: S$ 28.36 + +S$ 26.94 (S&H)

I am quite keen, esp if MO can reduce the price.

will check with the agent if the unit can be hook to the dvd hu of my car. will keep u posted.

Or if anyone knows if its is possible to hook up?

seeing the FD500 price and specs plus the video, tempting to change.... but can it be directly connected to the car for auto start and off?

The DRS1100PRO cannot be hooked up to any external display as far as I know. You got to do trial n error when fixing it. Its a wide angle lens, so as long as ur location is near the rear view mirror, the coverage area will record the whole car bonnet.

Me also interested in the FD500HD but would prefer with wide angle lens and waiting for price drop. biggrin.gif

    FD500HD is 1080iHD video quality + 60fps. ohmy.gif

Not using it as car camera lah. Later idiots smash my window just for this fancy camera how??? Using it for home video of my r/c heli and boat. biggrin.gif

DRS1100PRO and HD720 hides away discreetly from the dashboard when mounted.

Yes, it does record ur speed but does not display it on the video output. It display in the software application only. If you wana submit evidence, submit the video file only. But if TP ask for the RAW format then the game is up lor. biggrin.gif

The GPS function shows ur exactly location on the google map(must connect to internet) and speed. If yoid not speed, then no problem have the GPS function.

Just to clarify, DRS1100PRO records all information in its own propeitary file format. So no editing of information. It is able to export the video recorded to AVI file format.

woo.. FD500 is indeed a good camera.
I guess that HD720 should do the job tho. Alternatively, what adrianli is using, DSR1100PRO. Adrian, without having it load to youtube, does it look very sharp and clear on the car plate number?

Still thinking if I should get it.

    Allow me to summarise:

    1. DRS1100PRO
    - Make in Korea
    - 1280 X 960 5fps
    - GPS
    - Wide angle 152 deg
    - SDHC 4GB includsive
    - SGD350+

    2. HD720P
    - Make in China
    - 1280 X 720 30fps
    - With LCD
    - Variable fps (newer model only)
    - Motion detect (newer model only)
    - Wide angle 120 deg
    - SGD200+

    3. F500HD
    - Make in Taiwan
    - 1920 X 1080 30fps
    - With LCD
    - Wide angle len optional
    - SGD150+

All above got auto start, auto stop, auto loop when memory full. Depanding on what you want. If you want GPS go with option 1, if you want wide angle and LCD go with option 2, if you want Full HD go with option 3.

The spec for option 2 (HD720P) especially the newer model looks really good.

Then u will see taxi driver chut pattern.

Bro, I got the mini DVR, 2 cameras (1 front 1 rear), mini LCD screen for reverse cam for wifey, and battery pack so I can set to motion recording when car is parked. Damage was USD270... Can conceal very well, but resolution not as good as the cameras you guys are looking at, so fingers itchy again... I'm not sure if its because I got the wide angle lens (170 degrees). The 10sec clips are a pain too, like what a bro mentioned here, there is a noticable lag between the clips (about 3 secs).

I don't think any of these 3 DVRs got time lapse issue. At least my F500HD and China made DVR don't have. It is all about the speed of the memory card you use and the recording file size you set. F500HD MO price is USD90. So with optional items and shipment my estimation is SGD150+ (without memory card).

Anyone got this: Hoyt Technologies MSR-200 High Definition MotorSports camera

The MSR-200 High Definition MotorSports Camera, also referred to as an in car camera or on board camera, is the first POV camera designed specifically for the motorsports enthusiast. It shoots in crystal clear 720P H.264 HD The 110deg wide angle lens catches all the action and the 2x digital zoom brings it closer when you need it. This rugged, weatherproof system is ideal for use in open cockpit vehicles like karts and Indy cars, mounted on windshields or mounted on the exterior panels and tanks of your motorcycle or snowmobile. Operation is easy with the included, wired remote control and extension cable. The front lens glass is replaceable so you don't have to worry about rocks and debris. With the included cigarette lighter power adapter and the ability to accept up to 32GB SD/SDHC cards, the MSR-200 can record uniterupted for up to 12hrs in HD. The MSR-200 also has an industry standard 1/4-20 thread so it can be used with just about any camera mount you want including our pump activated suction mount and rollbar mounts. Glad that you guys manage to buy it from ebay. I am sure you will be as happy as me after seeing the recording quality.

Be aware that apple realplayer is suck when playing the mov files. Best to view it with full hd lcd tv or download a lighter mov player from internet.

hi Wahlin.. that's a great price for the full kit with useful accessories. It's definately cheaper than the ebay version.
Please pass the DOD details, Thanks Very Much!. If anyone still wants I'll organise the MO.

By the way, Wahlin, is the DOD price US$116 for an MO? or even for 1 piece?

US$116 include car kit and shipment. No memeory card. I will send the details out via email once I get back to office on Monday. From my understang standard package does not include car kit so better ask seller. The items show in eBay are standard plus optional. Look at the fine print.

Have indicated interest in the MO for the F500HD, but am wondering if the recorder has the following features which i think are essential for an in-car recorder:

    1) auto recording start when ignition is switched on - don't want to fiddle with the recorder everytime you get into the car
    2) auto write over of old data when SD card is full

    Nice to have features:
    3) time lapse recording to save battery and space - e.g.to catch hit and run or vandalism when car is parked
    4) motion detect auto record

I think 1&2 is necessary and probably will not buy the recorder if it does not have those features.

    wah u'r so right!

a lot of focus on quality, mounting but no one really mentioned about 1 & 2.

1 is important to make driving less cumbersome. imagine must key in GPS, must on video recorder, must tune radio, must put handphone blue tooth.
    driving will become a chore.

2 is to make sure info in SD card always the most recent + relevant.

Hi everyone who is interested in the F500HD - bro Wahlin's info looks good. I shall send a PM to everyone who has expressed an interest in the MO. Looks like getting 10sets can lower the price somewhat.

Once I PM you my email, please send me an email to confirm your interest. I shall prepare the MO details, and prices and everything, and keep you guys in the full comms loop whilst I am contacting DOD for the deal. I'm not looking to profit from this at all, just to try and get the best MO price for everyone.

Anyone else who is interested, please PM me or leave a message here. Once at least 10 sets confirmed, or nearest number by next Thursday, I'll send the order out.

ok.. I was trying to send PM to all those who indicated interest, and realised that it's not possible to send PM to multiple recipients at MCF, or I'm doing something wrong.

Anyway, as of now I already have a list of more than 12 pax who indicated interest in this MO.

So as to not waste further time - please email me directly at parkingidiot gmail . com - and I'll send a group email with the details - then you can decide if you wish to confirm. Once 10 pax or more confirm, we shall start negotiations with the supplier and order the items. I hope to wrap up in the next couple of days.

    Hi,

I was using the standard SD card. Between video file is 5secs. I just tested with SDHC class 2 card yesterday and it is only 2secs between video file. I believe if you use Class 4 or 6 SDHC card, there should be no time lapse at all.

Here is the sample video I taken yesterday :

I mount it on my r/c heli and flew, great breathtaking video :

Hi ... send me a PM with your email - and I'll forward you all the details for the MO.

So far 7 confirmed orders - we'll go ahead once the 10th order is confirmed!

Thanks bro.. got your email and the details.

    Cheers! wave.gif

I'm interested but who will do the installation
