Hi bro, nothing to do with the card, its due to the codec incompatibility of realplayer. Use kmplayer instead:)

This problem is very normal in SDcard recording. The unit will pause for 1 to 2 sec even you buy a $300 to $500 unit using SDcard recording. Unless you will keen to use in car harddisk recording sure good but there always voltage unstable causing the system unble to power up.

    Hi bros

    Something to share.

Some recorders having that 3~4 seconds of data loss during file transfer. (meaning- when file is completed, device needs to create another file)

Do enquire before you make the purchase. I have come across an accident video clip that missed out the most crucial evidence. No joke!

A quick question. When u install the DV400 with PM, where do you store the PM? Can it be hidden? Or do you normally install it such that the driver has access to it?

Received my DSX1080 from Aliexpress last Sat. Was not free to test it over CNY, only really got to play with it yesterday night and today. Not bad for S$180 shipped.

    - build quality was good as advertised.
    - has auto power on and delay power on(good for those who dont like to crank the engine immediately)
    - has auto power off and adjustable off delay.
    - has selectable LCD off
    - recording duration selectable
    - 120degrees wide angle lens

    but

    - size is a little bigger than what I expected.
    - cannot adjust any video settings except for resolution.
    - video quality was a little noisy.
    - video quality, its an improvement from Blackview or Milo Can size but yet to rival Blackvue DR400G or DOD-tec GSE580.

Not sure how to activate the four LED flash lights yet. laugh.gif Still figuring it out.

I spoke to my IT knowledgeable fren. He say its firmware issue, the program unable to properly overwrite itself over time thus causing its failure. Thatz why have to keep reformating to prevent it from hanging.

Its a good cam, dont let the little bug stop u from getting it. Just have to keep doing housekeeping(reformatting). wink.gif

I am using 2 sets, so far no hanging on 16gb class 6 & 32gb class 10 la don worry bro lol.
    My experience on class 6 & 10.
Class 6: Hang once in my 5 months of usage.
    Class 10: Never hang before.
Class 4 will surely have hanging issues as tested.

Just to check, does dsx1080 run as hot as DR400 in fullhd Mose recording ?

    Nope.

    Hi Bro,

Thanks very much for your prelim review on the DSX1080SX.

I got myself a set from ShoChong sometime back, and initially was the GPS set. Too bad this was a lemon set and ShoChong then changed it to a non-GPS set for me.. Very kind of him.. happy.gif

    Downers

Anyway, I tested the set as soon as I got it off ShoChong hands, and yes the night shots are all noisy.. even with the auto night mode and auto glare reduction set up, the video is noisy and cannot see clearly at night... Now I am trying without any night enhancement on the set, since these settings are known to cause noise inorder to enhance the night shots. Hopefully will be a bit more clear.

The day shots are like you shown , and DSX1080SX is not as clear as the DR400-G and GSE 580. I am pleasantly surprised that GSE580 is the clearest! Maybe when u want to let it go, I may buy it second hand from you! tongue.gif

DSX1080SX the sides of the video are blurry, most probably I think is due to the fish eye lens. This caused some issues to me as I think if I kena side swiped, I cannot see the other car licence plate clearly.. I tried to take other videos and looked closely at the sides and sometimes can see sometimes cannot see.. Frustrating!

Also. this set does not have motion detection, unlike the DR400-G. However, as I will ON this set 24/7 to catch all video, this is not a sticking point for me. But the memory card have to be big la... or else the nite video will be override.. FYI, each 5 mins video takes up about 261MB at 1920x1080P resolution. So as the max memory this set can take is 32GB, which translates to about 10 hrs of non-stop video. Shld be enuf for one nite recording ba... Use it with power magic to avoid draining your battery flat....

There is no supplied software to view the videos for the non-gps set. U can use KMplayer (shochong recomm) or Quicktime to view the MOV format videos. For video or screenshot capture, think you have to use your own video editing software liao..

Firmware support is non-existent, and Shochong had to ask the Mfr to send him firmware updates if there are any.... bummer...

    Uppers

This set does have some configuration setups, so can tweak a bit la

It does not run hot, just a bit more warm.. at least I know it wont catch fire if too hot like the DR400-G ! laugh.gif *joking joking hee hee *

From day 1 till now, the set did not hang and everytime start up it works flawlessly. All the set configurations works as you have set them up. There is No memory card corrupted, no led light off/on unexpectedly, no blank video etc etc like in DR400-G.

As my computer is old, and according to ShoChong my laptop cannot run the video smoothly, I used the HDMI output directly from the set and the supplied HDMI cable and can watch big screen videos! Not bad la... can see pimples up close! haha!

As i mentioned above that the DR400-G and GSE580 beats this set in both day and presumably nite video clarity, I must add that there is a difference in their costs... One set of DR400-G can buy 2 sets of DSX1080SX, as Adrianli pointed out in his prelim review above. So with this in mind, mai hiam la.. u pay cheaper for lower but still acceptable video quality.

    Conclusion

I think I will dispose of this set once the stability of the DR400-G clears up.

I find that video quality is still of the utmost importance to me, and if my car cam cannot clearly record and show the licence plate of the a*s-hol who banged into me (from all angles), then this car cam is useless...

All in all, I am still in search of the best car cam avail that will meet my high expectations of clear day and night video clarity. Without clarity, cannot win claim liao...

Any bros who like to add more, pls do so for the benefit of all here... Thanks!

My BV DR400G also hang on 1st day of CNY. Nothing was recorded and blue LED turned on. I never had the date problem, it always shows the correct day n time.

But the constant hanging really annoys me. Cant wait to get the latest Sandisk Ultra 32G card.

Hi Bro, my guess will be that you are using the 32GB class 4?
it will be good to state which microsd brand and class u r using..
No offence bro, I hope u know where i m coming from, do not wish ppl to mistaken that Blackvue still have problem with class 6 & 10 after the latest firmware & still bombard me with hanging queries dizzy.gif , because my existing customers have very rarely complained about their dr400 hanging with the latest firmware.
    Thanks. wink.gif

Yes from my own opinion, dr400 firmware must still be improved for stability of date/time issue reported from 2 users so far out of the many.
And yes i totally agree with u that it will be good to do our housekeeping, worth the effort for a good cam.
For my 2 sets, i have no issues after my 1st full overwrite with file size adjustment format.
1 set is using Samsung 16GB Class 6, another is OEM Brand 32GB class 10.
    Anyway HAPPY CNY HUAT AR!

To those who pm me asking me if DR400 still have hanging issues, this hanging issue has long been "closed cased" after their latest firmware:
Let me take this opportunity to explain one more time based on the feedbacks gathered from my customers of DR400:

If you have done the proper formating steps for the 1st time "Full overwrite" Filesize Adjustment on", and upgraded to the current firmware 1.037,
    Hanging issues occurance rate:
With Class 10: Super Rare or 0 time. (0 time for myself so far)
With Class 6: Rarely but may still occur rarely for the minorities, perhaps once in 2-3 months so far from the feed back i received from 2-3 customers. (Recommend to do a format at least once every month)
With Class 4: Almost every day. Tested myself with Sandisk Class 4 & Kingston Class 4 & by some customers (Please do not use class 4)

So if you are intending to upgrade to 32GB & not using the provided class 6, i will strongly recommend u to upgrade to class 10 like many of the bros here, & no complains ever since.
You can find 32GB Class 10 Microsd from here:
    http://www.amazon.co...o...7726&sr=8-3
    Cheers!

    Feedbacks after 1.037 upgrades:

My exp with DR400 has been ok. My LED only comes on with the previous firmware. After I upgraded, the issue did not re-surface. Using the Samsung MicroSD card...

Strange, I don't encounter any of your problems for my DR400. I'm using the original SD card that came with it and did not do any upgrade. Just straight from the box and fix on screen.

Yeah. Kelvin rectified my issue this morning. Asked the tech what went wrong, very reluctant to tell.. laugh.gif

Now the camera will say "Parking mode disabled" when i drive off and "Switching to Parking mode" about 5-10min after i switched off.
Using firmware 1.037. so far so good.

Yeah no problems for my class 10 so far.

mine is good with class 10, so far no calling in sick from the BV....

Bro, a "HAPPY CNY HUAT AR!" to you first. haha

Dont be too panaroid, actually capturing license plates from all angles is only practical in hit-n-run cases, thats y i always recommend DR400 for surveillance. In normal accidents, most cars will come to a stop & exchange particulars. So a video footage support will be good enough to prove how the accident happens. Be glad that u at least have at a car cam installed VS those who have none yet. Will still be in your favour since u have the video evidence. (provided u r not in the wrong)

Hit-n-run cases, chances maybe like striking a 4D, Haha so from my own opinion, its more important to be able to capture how accidents happens on the road, and more important to capture license plates/faces for surveillance.

At the end of the day, different car cams suits the needs & priorities of different users.
For you, I think only the DR400 can meet your expectation for now..

Just my 2 cents worth. biggrin.gif

No problems Bro. I will go ahead and get it done with you. thumbsup.gif

Hi. I just got my BlackVue DR400G here in America. Anyone else on this forum from United States?
My brother in China currently and he sent the recorder to me. So far it works good.

How do I know what kinda of SD card I have? I am using the one that came from Pittasoft. It is a 16GB card. Samsung model. But nothing on it says if it's a class 6 or class 10. Thanks in advance for help.

Hi.. the "class" should be printed on the mSD card. Anyway, if your brother bought you the Korean unit and you're using the original Samsung mSD card that comes in the package, it is 99.9% probability a Cl 6.

If it's a local China version, then it's anyone's guess!

Think you can test reading/writing speeds, though. Somewhere in this forum there was earlier discussion on this.

    Bro,

First of all Wish You a Huat Huat Year too!

    1) To what you wrote above, I almost kena a side swipe along Bukit Timah road last weekend near KK hostpital. This joo hoo kia (Msian) came very close to my left side and as he passed on my left, I could see his licence plate. I was thinking the DSX1080SX will capture his licence plate too, as he was only half car length to my front left side only.

But I reached home and played using the HDMI output from the set, cannot make out the licence plate number ! Even so close also cannot see..!

Unlike what u said above, if kena accident not everyone will stop and exchange particulars with you.. some of these as$-H*&les will zoom off and pretend he did not hit you.. This is of course hit and run on the road, and will be police case. But if I cannot present his licence plate to the insurance co for claims, then my case jeopardised liao. Especially if the other party is a foreign licence car or is a very common car like silver altis etc.. The only thing that can nail this guy is his licence plate which my car cam unfortunately cannot capture clearly everytime.

If all we want to see is how the accident happened, then no need buy 1080P resolution liao.. even VGA or 720P can see the car hitting us... then we spend so much and harp so much on the clarity of the video for what?

I'm not being paranoid or a nit pick.. just that I want to protect myself all the time and everytime... Murphy's Law can strike anytime and I don't want to be on the losing end esp if its not my fault and my car cam is not clear enuf..... Thats why we invest in high resolution car cams, no?

    2) If our car cams are also only good enuf for tio beh pio cases, then not useful la... Our cars are not always parked rite? and if only during these close proximity cases then can capture the licence plates then cannot say is high resolution liao.. so near, almost any cam can see clearly la!

    3) From what the bros shared here, and after seeing Adrianli latest pics comparing the DSX1080SX vs DR400-G and GSE-580, I still think the GSE-580 is the clearest of the lot.

    4) Yes, diff folks have diff needs.. I have just not found what i want to satisfy myself.. we all should too...

    5) The above are my honest views so far, and thanks to all for keeping our sharing spirit alive.... happy.gif

Ya lo thats y i say hit n run case be it stationary or moving = DR400 hahah, not all 1080p car cam if near can capture license plate at the sides lei bro haha, depends on lighting and angle oso, feedback from some dod 1080p ex users too.
Have not tried GSE580 before, but i personally prefer the sleek design of DR400, but from what i see from the youtube videos, DR400 has the best night recording in my opinion.
Like u mention before, pay less for a ok quality video or pay high for high end quality, hard to get the best of both world. biggrin.gif

Thats why its good of this thread for all bros to share their practical experiences with others... so that we can know for sure all the pros and cons of each car cam ma.... Never try dunno rite?

for those bro's considering BVue DR400G-HD..., suggest you try arrange to get the Cl 10 mSD cards as part of the package. No point messing around with the Cl 6.

I just checked the recordings on my units. I have left them for 3(?) weeks, so the older recordings would have written over by the later ones. Recording times were set at 3min each file.

Cl 10 (Silicon Power). No problem at all.

Cl 6 (original Samsung). Notice there had been some "skipping".. that is, some 3min recording gaps. Sounds were also missing from some recordings.

I looked at the logs. For the Cl 6, there seems to write errors about the same times older logs were deleted. For the Cl 10, no such errors were recorded. It should be a reasonable conclusion (at this stage) that the recording gaps were due to the overwriting deficiency of the Cl 6 mSD vs the Cl 10.

I have deleted all the recorded files and the logs. No re-formatting. And will monitor a bit closer and update on any interesting observation.. If the skipping persists with a fully loaded Cl 6, I will shoot to replace with a Cl 10 as I will like to avoid regular "maintenance" of a blackbox.

Otherwise, the BVue units work well... no hanging, no gps error, etc.

The "older" DR350's work flawlessly with the Cl 4 mSD..., except facing back they record only lights at nights! laugh.gif

for those bro's considering BVue DR400G-HD..., suggest you try arrange to get the Cl 10 mSD cards as part of the package.

The "older" DR350's work flawlessly with the Cl 4 mSD..., except facing back they record only lights at nights! laugh.gif

MODERATOR... can you please DELETE this & one of earlier duplicate posts? Otherwise I'll be a "spammer!!

Different ppl different expectation/budget/priorites bro lol, there are also customers of SX saying they like it , some say they prefer DR400, some even finding 720p model which they feel is sufficient for them. no need so serious to prove ba. Maybe to Dxlx bro, the price is right for him for the quality. For that price cant expect it to be the best..wink.gif

    Like what Adrainli quoted:

Yeah, one cent money, one cent product.

This DSX1080 is between a budget car cam and a high end car cam.
video quality, its an improvement from Blackview or Milo Can size but yet to rival Blackvue DR400G or DOD-tec GSE580.

Even till today, i have recommendations from old customers to their friends for older models like the Blackview.

    Take it easy bro. thumbsup.gif

Aiya... I dun wan clones to come in and recomm something that is not right...

Make false expectations also not goot rite?

Later people buy liao then regret also bad on the sellers too ma...

So be clear on the benchmarks then all will better for it.... not something ambiguous like "highly recommended".... unimpressed.gif

Videos samples are there for ppl to judge and compare, so cant push the blame to sellers ba.

The sweet lady from my BV annouced twice since last week its starting recording after I checked that it was working before I drove off...after reviewing the video, it seems that it was indeed recording but it sort of re-boot and thats where the annoucement came. lost the 2-3 mins...I was wondering is it because the SD card was full at the moment and it casuses it to re-boot? Maybe if its always full and the files are over-written realtime, it will not happen, but if the card is filling up and once it reached full cap, BV re-boot...this i just my theory...

Hey guys sorry for the no reply. Was pretty busy for the whole months of Dec and January.

Finally I have some time to catch up what is going on.

Ever since using the class 10 Lexar card i got from Amazon, there has absolutely no problems going on for me. No reboot, no checking of SD card, no errors at all.

Except that my camera lens went crazy and decide to fog up. As usual Shochong stood by his products and i paid for it to be replaced with no fuss. Kudos to Shochong on that.

Bro Mazdaowner, don't worry this will be the best product you've ever owned. No doubt it has its problems, but take another view at it. Pittasoft is very eager to solve problems for us and other worldwide users as well. I am glad that the latest firmware issue solves most if not all of the problems i used to face.

Adrian, do post us on your update with using a much faster card. I hate to see you keep facing problems with such an excellent product. I bought a 2nd set from Shochong for my rear but no time to go install it yet. I will need 1 more 32gb memory card and i hope your sandisk will be able to do the job else i gotta buy in from Amazon again. I rather support local market lah biggrin.gif

Recently bought one recorder from Esso station plus an SD card that sold separately.

Find it very good to use after setting everything right.
Car move it record, car stop it stop.
I set it to record at 10 minute interval.
The resolution also good, I set it to the highest.

I think this one is value for money, no need go for expensive set.

I have little doubt that blackvue is one of the clearest (even though I have not tried the Esso recorder), however, for the record, with any video compression algorithm (which blackvue also uses) you will never get the full 720pHD or whatever is the stated resolution.

Ever compression algorithm will have its own logic, like areas of similar color/contrast are interpolated while areas with alot of different color/contrast may be interpolated less just as an example.

    BlackVue DR400G-HD.

Class 6 mSD. After the earlier recording skips, I deleted old files and the logs, and reused in the recorder.

Found that new recordings were made but all cannot be viewed. Had no warning messages, etc.

I've reformatted the mSD and re-installed the firmware/software. Now let's wait and see how the unit performs...

Class 10 mSD. Continues to be "problem free" (so far at least)..

Hi bro. I bought it from continental electronics (b1 sim lim tower). They have a variety of mic lead acid battery. It is price tagged so no need to worry about pricing.

If you have some time, the whole basement has a lot of lead acid battery actually.

Hi. Just saw this on the AAS site: http://www.aas.com.s.....0BLAC BOX.jpg
Is it an OEM of some models that are currently promoted by some bros here?
    Seems quite reasonably priced.
Appreciate if anyone had experience using this too.

    Thanks.

Hi bro. Thks for your reply.
    What model would that be?

Also thanks for your PM the other time. I didn't go for it as BV400 was out of my budget and also no screen.

Maybe you can recommend me sth below $150 that is still full HD. Preferably small enuf to hide behind the rearview mirror and with LCD screen for occasional chking of footage/view setup.

    Thks.

got mine dsx1080 from bro shochong last Tuesday.

comparison of video quality, bro adrianli had already posted. I don't have blackvue400 or dod580, but i believe we can trust bro adrianli reviews.

I like this dsx1080 better than my dod500 because of the holder, this holder is definitely more well-built than the dod I had.
also, i can remove the micro sd card without having to remove the camera / as compared to my current dod.
just set the settings once and its ready to go, no need any firmware upgrade or format card every now and then.
good enough for daily driving needs.

and like what other bros here already posted, its a budget camera so cannot compare to blackvue.

    Bro, your requirement quite contradicting.

You want with screen but small enough to hide behind rear view mirror? So small how to see?
DR400 has video out to connect to your double din HU if you have one.

I won't need the screen while driving. Only for setup and ensuring that I got the view frame. There's still some gap between windscreen and rearview mirror.

    Sth like the dsx1080sp.

    1. The lorry on lane 1?

    2. Queue cutting cum cross double white line?

Anyway that stretch quite horrible every morning. A lot of queue cutters like the one in your video. Always causing those going towards Ngee Ann Poly to e-brake when they cut halfway with their ass still in lane 2.

I kind of understand why the lorry go lane 1 though it is still wrong.

that speed limit is 60 if i'm not wrong, so he's at maximum speed or maybe faster...

the fellow in front didnt even bother to signal that he wants to filter... at least me or those behind could have filter and move on....
