    Hi, Bros..

if u r considering this one, maybe better re-consider.

may be only the unit i got, but the recording (or replay?) speed is not "constant".

recorded in 1080p, on 16GB Class 10 Silicon Power microSD card. 3-4 secs recording gap between files.

Video is sharp but when viewing (on different PCs) parts of video "speeds up" and then back to normal.

just from video, it will give impression that the car itself was driven fast/slow/fast/slow even though actually at constant speed.

that itself is no big deal if only for own viewing but for blackbox "evidence" it can become arguable.

maybe firmware issue. Don't think it's the mSD card (tried on normal DV cam, no problem)

hmm bro, i am advising with the assumption you bought this from DX, we are also selling this but for ours its tested to have seamless recording between video files (you can ask TVT, i demo in person for him for the seamless recording)... so its a risk to purchase from DX.. like i say b4.. wat look similar on the outside might not be same in the inside, there are too many factories around creating the same model but the chips they used might not be same.
have u tried other sd card on it to confirm? Anyway we are using Transcend 8gb class 10 to test rolleyes.gif

One of the bros mentioned that for the Blackview, once the screen is off, (because of your settings) in order to check if it is still recording, you just have to press the huge white button at the side right?

Anyone able to do that successfully?

How do we 'wake up' the screen when it auto switch off?

    Bros,

I have a question, most of the camera are around 5v to 6v but if i get it connected directly to the car battery of 12V, would the camera be able to take the current difference? worried that it get fried.

With technology nowadays, it should already be in built. Unless you are using a normal camera to do the job. But with all in car camera, they comes with the 12v adapter for you to plug in.

oh haha no problem one. its in-built into the camera, just hook it up it will work just fine.

adding to that most camera in the market has a range from 12-24V for different vehicle needs.

I believe more business for sellers if you remove the adapter and use the remaining wire to connect direct to battery. you should link from battery to replace the power input of your existing cigarette lighter power socket. Alternative buy a diy cigarette lighter power socket extension and link to the battery.

U have to use the adapter provided. 12V directly to a 5V car cam, sure to fry the car cam. I personally tested!!! laugh.gif

There are some car cams use 12V. Example the GSE580. wink.gif

i realised most of these taxi drivers who drive like that, they sit way too close to the steering wheel and they are unable to see that they are actually straying into another lane.

either that or some of them are just way too old

I tried the function to turn off the screen but its pretty stupid or there is a bug. I set to 1min screen off during recording. It works alright, at 1min, the screen turned off. Then I press all buttons but no response. Only the right button on top work. It turned the screen on. Then 1min later the screen went off and I heard the female voice, the cam shut down!!! WTF???

So basically, at the moment there is no correct button to review the LCD screen when it is off. laugh.gif

My GSE580 works perfectly thou. Once screen is off, I pres the centre navi button, the screen comes on for a while n then off again. Recording continue as usual.

    Hi,

Ur car cam will come with an adapter that converts 12V from ur car cig lighter plug to 5V output for ur car cam. Like this :

    thumb_swclp1.jpg

Then either DIY or get ur car accessories shop to supply with the female connector tap directly from the car battery like this :

Press the right button on top. The screen will come on. But then it will then shut down on its own also. There is a software bug I think.

Yup, mine also shows the constantly charging symbol. Shouldnt affect its operation at all. I guess it doesnt have the "wire connected" symbol so just display the constant charging symbol. Probably a software bug also.

U cant. There is a step-down circuitry in the adapter plug. Unless u remove the circuitry and re-solder the wires. Do not try it unless u r electrically trained otherwise any short circuit, ur whole car up in smoke!!!

Bro dont mind me being frank but you don't seem to be well verse in technical stuff like me. Why not spend a bit get the pros to do it rather than risk it and might end up paying a bigger sum to rectify it?

    bro,

well, i have no intention of doing it myself, going to get the pro to do it but would like to get more details.

coz the other time when my friend try to get his car recorder tap to the battery from a car access shop, the guy mention that the input is 5v so cannot tap to the battery and in the end what he does for him is to just hide the cable and end up still using the cig lighter plug.

Guess that will be the negative point of the blackview!!! I believe when you press the top right button, it is to stop recording. Thus, when you set the unit to switch off after sometime, as the unit is inactive, it will just power off.

Can be used but I feel the logging of Gs not as good as those specifically for track use.

I am kinda toying with go pro HD. Looks really good plus have suction cup to stick it on exterior.

    picked it up locally.

firmware.. not sure offhand, but i believe it's version 1.1 Can check this evening and confirm.

edit: can confirm now... it's version 1108291. not sure whether that's the latest and whether can update??

Should not have this problem as mine same version. Since seller here always claim provide good service, go to the seller and ask for 1 to 1 exchange.

This model has own manufacture defect but only visually visible if u record in your room and on the tv. A light will be visible while shooting near your tv..

Now dx selling around $120 only after exchange rate. I paid much higher getting these even i bought 2 sets from seller here. No one knows DX is selling inferior set as compare as local supplier. No one knows until someone buy one from DX.

Depends on ur usual driving duration and the speed of ur SD card.

If lower speed SD card, set longer record duration so that there would not be lag between video files. I usually set mine to 45min duration, but now testing it so set to 5min interval, easier to manage n upload to youtube.

i am using a 32gb class 10 SD card. current setting is 5 min duration. the lapse inbetween files is about 3 sec. is this good enough or there is no right or wrong setting?

Pros and cons...depending on your needs for the loop duration. Bigger the file means that you need to srub thru the video to find what you want but as Adrian mentioned, less lag between files. Short duration means more files but you can pick the video you want easily with the time stamp

DX got both originals and replica from other supplier. As a buyer, we will have to check properly before buying. I bought the Mobile-i F1000 from DX and was very happy with it video quality and build. However, if you search properly, there is a replica with different model name is going at a lower price.

If I did not check and do my research properly, I would have bought the imitation and thinks it is an inferior set. below are the links to the original F1000 and replica.

Bro, before you attempt to bring in this set, please test the set 1st. I have used this set for a month before I send it back for a refund. There are 2 issues which they have not solve yet:
    1. When screen saver function is turned on, LCD turns back on again about 1 minute later and have to be manually switched off.
    2. When engine is turned off, set does not turn off till battery is drained.

In order to let the set function properly, I have to stop recording and start again. Only then both problems were solved temporary. Otherwise, this is a very good set.

    I know what u mean.

Meaning, you plug in the USB cable to the GSE580. Then select MSC, your computer will detect the SDHC card as a storage. Then you play recorded video directly from SDHC card without extracting it out, am i right?

Yes, it happen to me too. The video kind of lag, seems like play , pause , play , pause in certain timing.
Maybe i keep fast forward then play & then backward then play the video recorded directly from the SDHC card.

Try to extract the video out from the SDHC card to your PC & do the play back. It should not be lag when you play from PC.

Can u please tell them that watever chip it is, it sucks n not working fast enough. I suspect its those older GPS chip like my Garmin Forerunner 101.

    Hi Adrianli,

I have removed my GSE580 from my current location ( beside the rear mirrow - (top of windscreen)) to the bottom of the windscreen almost touching the deskboard. For cold start it could take about 5 min to get the GPS lock on. Using the same set up, i try park in the open space, then go down for lunch ( not forgeting to OFF & remove my GSE580 from the bracket), after lunch, i came back & plug in my GSE580 into the bracket & power on, to my surprise it straight away lock on the GPS less than a minute.

By the way, those who already mounted the braket on the windscreen, my advise to them is not to remove it.
    Because :

    1) I got air bubbles on my solar film on area where i mount my GSE580 ( beside rear mirror), this is how powerfull the suction is.
I need to use needle to poke the solar film to release the trapped air.

    2) The suction cap deform after removed from original place, causing it to drop easily nowadays.
Look like i need to look for a suction that has the same built & quality like Garmin 3790 using to replace the current suction.

    Just sharing my experience.

bro, did garmin change their suction cup design/material? from the ones i look online, no difference from the one they always have been manufacturing? that one dont really last long either.

i give you at most 6 months then it starts to drop.

    Hi Vega,

Although you didnt get the set from me, i would like to Congratz you on having the GSE580.
For my case i am setting it as 45min duration per clip. Because i can easily know which files for which journey.
I always format the SDHC after i extract out the clips to my PC. What Adrianli said its true, if you set as 5min interval, its easier to upload to youtube, but there are software available in the market that help to cut your clip shorter too. For reference i am using MOV Cutter to cut the clip shorter.

FYI, i am using the DOD 16GB SDHC Class 10 memory card.
Although GSE580 can support up to 32GB, i always wont want overload any product to the extreme. Always a level lower.
    My opinion. No offfence.

Yes. This is exactly what I am experiencing. Will try to extract the video. Tks for your advice.

bro, did garmin change their suction cup design/material? from the ones i look online, no difference from the one they always have been manufacturing? that one dont really last long either.

i give you at most 6 months then it starts to drop.

I been using my Garmin 3790 for a year plus& didnt give any problem. Unless i park my car under the super hot sun, then the suction cup tend to drop but after refix it did not drop at all. Meaning only drop under hot sun.

For my case now, after shifting of location. The suction cap does not stick as strong as the first location. When i remove the GSE580 from the bracket, the suction cap just give way laugh.gif , even it was in sheltered car park.

The GSE580 suction cap is transparent & slightly thinner compare with Garmin.
The Garmin suction cap is black colour & seems thicker.

    maybe i think too much.

    Hi Vega,

I dunno where you buy from, but roughly i know where you buy from.
Try to ask from them & i am not sure whether their reply is " this is an optional items".

I have checked with DOD on this, their reply is that " Every unit of GSE580 you buy should comes with full package".
If you missing any accessories, then the end user should get it from the re-seller they bought from.

yeah most of the time, the places i parked has no shelter thats why it doesnt really last me. I have to DIY mod it a bit, else every half a year $30 to buy a new suction cup is not cheap man.
i find those holder that you can screw it tighter to have a better suction seems to have a better durability than the garmin's one.

    Hi Vega,

    I know what u mean.

Meaning, you plug in the USB cable to the GSE580. Then select MSC, your computer will detect the SDHC card as a storage. Then you play recorded video directly from SDHC card without extracting it out, am i right?

Yes, it happen to me too. The video kind of lag, seems like play , pause , play , pause in certain timing.
Maybe i keep fast forward then play & then backward then play the video recorded directly from the SDHC card.

Try to extract the video out from the SDHC card to your PC & do the play back. It should not be lag when you play from PC.

ok. save the file onto my PC and play directly from there. there is still some lag but not noticeable like playing from the camera directly.
time to upgrade my PC. biggrin.gif

For those with the 'suction cup on mesh film' problem: Daiso sells a plastic disc that has adhesive on one side, with the other side smooth. So you could stick the adhesive side on the mesh film and then put the suction cup on the smooth side. Can be used for dashboard or any flat surface, too. Comes in various diameters.

    Hi Jeunes,

Hmm nice & look good too. But i kind of afraid of clear suction cup liao, want to test black color suction cup.

As i will be placing my GSE580 on the bottom of the windscreen, therefore i need something better than current bracket, otherwise i could see the mounting bracket suction cup ( as shown below ) recorded in the video.
I am trying to place as low as possible, so that it doesnt disrupt my driving.

By the way, please ignore the picture quality or what so ever, as i am doing testing on the GSE580.

    No problem lah.

Just that I am finding this thread is for car cam users to share information n for ppl who wants to get car cam come in to harvest the information here. Wana do business, do it at another thread. Here discussion on the various car cams available.

Whether u are selling or not, just come in here to discuss n contribute. More than happy to have u ard.

    Lets keep to discussion only.

On the GSE580, mine now is set to EV -1.3 and I find it to be good. At night when there are cars in front, the image is great. But when on expressway or with no car infront to reflect ur headlights, the image becomes gainy/noisy. Daytime, like watching blue ray movie!!!

Will post the videos tonight. The IR mode is disappointing thou, colours all faded one.
