Myths: You should break in your engine with conventional oil, then switch to a synthetic oil like Mobil 1.

Reality: You can start using Mobil 1 in new vehicles at any time. In the past, engine break-in was necessary to remove any metal flashing (called swarf) or abrasive material left inside the engine after machining as well as to allow the valves and rings to "seat" properly. Today's engines are built with tighter tolerances, improved machining and under cleaner conditions compared to the engines of 10 or 20 years ago. Current engine manufacturing technology does not require a break-in period using petroleum-based motor oils. In fact, Mobil 1 is installed in the factories of:

Well, that is real life testimony. [thumbsup]

yes, certain old precautions does not apply to current technology...eg like the after 1K servicing, 5K servicing is not necessary as can go synthethic from there.

Your information is always solid bro!!

    Thanks alot!

We still have workshops INSISTING to use w40 on our cars, telling clients that clients do not understand, even when we can take manufacture specs out to show them.

Reasons are always that Singapore is warm humid climate, different.

    Does vezel have ISOFIX points?

As what Rationalexuberance mentioned, there's still workshops VERY INSIST that you have to use w40 on Honda Vezel and not w20-w30 due to singapore weather.

Even though you have already mentioned that it's stated in Honda manual, they say cannot trust the manual, we workshop is more experience.

What BS, our car is like our baby, anything that happens to it, we fork out the money and not them. They are just interested in collecting cash and think every customer is STUPID when you tell them what you want.

If i am driving a cab or have to be on the road 24/7, maybe I will consider w40. Otherwise its always w30 for me!!! They probably by w40 in bulk and have higher margins. Shell has this interesting website which you can choose which car you are driving and in which country plus which make the car is, and they showed you the types of grade you should go for and how long you need to change. If you try honda JDM cars, most are either one of the 3...5w30, 10w30 and 5w40 and mostly for 10k.

Reading through the thread, very easy to deduce there are so many inexperience car owner who really do not know much about car maintenance. I really salute your courage in going the PI route with that level of know-how on cars.

No offence intended, really. Though I would definitely advise people to chalk up on more experience before taking the plunge, at least know abit about car maintenance lah..

Went down to make my booking just now. Finally taking the leap after looking through the forum and making a trip down to see the dealer. Decided to go for the "express" queue by paying a slight premium and not negotiating for tons of accessories. If all things goes well, can get my ride next week (committed date is 1 month on service agreement though). Fingers crossed!!

like your style, fast and furious [:)]

    Mounting points for isofix car-seats.

Much more convenient compared to the conventional seat-belted-type.

Yes, middle seat is with 3-point seat belt.

Sorry, not able to take photos now and showing pictures from manual instead.

Yes, middle seat is with 3-point seat belt.

Sorry, not able to take photos now and showing pictures from manual instead.

Frankly, this isofix stuff still confused the hell out of me. I will probably still strap the child seat using the conventional seat belt method.

Agreed bro...which is why I will never buy a car if the premium over the cost price is too high. Mazda 3 similar like altis was rather high then. A year ago when coe was at 62k as well saw mazda 3 at 106k only. Imagine it went up to 120plus k in a years time, and within 2 months now drop to below 106k. I felt the heartache for those who cheong to buy mazda 3 and alti despite such a huge price increase. No offence but i would feel the heartache. Their next round pf heartache will be when they trade in their rides. Though it is pegged to market rate but dealers will definitely use the lowest to quote.

Hi bro, i also feel sad for those who buy QQ2.0 comparing to QQ1.2T. I nearly buy QQ2.0 until I saw Vezel last year. I understand the QQ1.2T has better interior and more updated software compare to QQ2.0, not to mentioned better FC and lower cost.

I was like you, also have until next March to wait before current ride reaches 10 years, but PI psycho abit with a better trade in nia, just went ahead and carried on. Haha, maybe if someone lend you one unit to test-drive, or invite you to go for a spin, you will end up signing on the dotted line already.. [laugh]

Yes, I did at World Auto. I called them to check on their W30 stock and was told stock just came in. If not, I will buy my own W30 EO and bring along. I have change to synthetic OWS 5W30. The ride is pretty smooth and engine noise has reduced after servicing.

This is good news. I also did my 5K servicing at World Auto before CNY. At that time, they do not have W30, so I brought my own. Had a long chat with Adrian (WS manager) and convince him to bring in W30 for the Vezel folks. If there is demand, he say will take in W30 stock.

Similarly, I was hoping for a turbo version of vezel. But knowing the tech difficulties in marrying vtec and turbo together, which seem to happen soon, i reckon we probably got to wait a couple of years before that may happen...so bobian...buy first...lol

Hahaha. I think I know what you mean, but this one no problem la, just buy and drive first lor, a bit of "carrot chop" here and there, sometimes inevitable in life one la. [thumbsup]

Got a friend, a young lady, who bought her first car not long after getting her license at 26 and drive out to cheong every weekend and most evenings. Until one day her car just "died" on the road and guess what; she didn't know there are such things as "servicing" or "maintenance", all she did was pump petrol whenever it's low and kept going.

After that she stopped driving and got herself a boyfriend to drive her around instead. This was years ago, and as far as I know, till today she's still a little happy camper. :D

Life is short, lets enjoy it as much as we can while we can la (drive first, talk later). [thumbsup][thumbsup]

Bro, can read below the information Niltrams posted about engine oil.

Yep I saw this post by Niltrams, which explain by him in regards to Engine Oil. very informative information.

I think w30 is still better maybe in my opinions haha after reading so much posts.

Basically, WS in SIN conveniently using W40 (1-size-fit-all concept).. Seen in MCF Bros said Manual wrote W20.. I was told that usually ppl use W20 on race cars..

My take is W30 cos definitely less viscos (compare to W40) so can "squeeze" thru the new-tight gap between Piston & Bore at the present new ride to cater for the frequent engine start-stop feature.

W20 is definitely much more expensive compare to W30/W40/W50 and is slightly not so easily available outside.

    I got my W30 Giant-IMM.. with promotional discount.. Cheap & Convenient.. :D

My consideration factor is more about lubricating at the gap (clearance) between the Piston & the Bore (P&B).

When car is NEW, the machining or the parts are so good fitting that the clearance of the moving parts (P&B) are very good thus if the EO is too viscos (thick), it will have to wait for the temperature to rise to "liquify" the EO further before it can easily flow thru the gap readily. Thou won't take too long to happen, but enuf to create wear at the P&B, especially for our engine start/stop function.

However, when the car gets more MATURE, the gap would be bigger. By then, if still using low viscos (thin) EO, it would have "leak" thru the gaps so fast that it does not provide sufficient "cushion" & lubrication. That's when we change to W40/W50 EO to continue to provide the necessary lubrication to our ride.

If I remember correctly, I was told that EO for new cars are mineral-type, to save costs as importantly, to burnish and smoothen "rough" surfaces of newly assembled engine block....and due to the composition and molecular structures of mineral oils and their effective lifespan it is probably why we are told to change oil for 1st 1000km.

I was told that the Jpn Engr in the WS "chit-chat" that nowadays Synthetic EO are used on New cars already, same like Jpn local. The so call "rough" surface are the past history & technology now has overcomed. Due to that reason, those Jpn imported cars can actually do the 1st svc between 3k ~ 5k & if continue using Synthetic EO, the next Svc shall be 10k later. i think that's why they come here to learn from other friendly bros' with experience. That's a very good big step and half the battle is won. PI or AD workshops, seriously speaking the only difference are the contractual agreements and terms & conditions. They handle ur car as and when they deem fit and however they feel suitable. Seen b4,experienced b4,paid thru e nose to AD b4,seen other bros kena smoked b4.

Happy that my PI secured my COE today, but unhappy that I didn't get rebate since my rebate was pegged at 60k. But then again, my SE has said he will push delivery by end March so that's the most important thing to look forward to! [thumbsup]

My SE did tell me that they totally didn't foresee the wave of buyers entering the market last weekend, which explained the more than double number of bidders to COEs this time round. Out of the 30 orders with my PI, they only managed to secure 5 COEs. Looks like the backlog of COEs not secured this round will mean that prices next round are unlikely to come down..

Thanks all bro/sis here, I guess my PI never bid for me this round as suggested here. I also dont know whats going on. Still waiting for the busy PI to call back .

    Sian 1/2... [bigcry]

Frankly, usually during the bidding time, all PI are kan-cheong.. the nearer to the count down timing the more kan-cheong.. So give your PI some time to focus 1st then can entertain calls after they breath & puff after the gate closed.. [:p]

Good luck to all Bro/Sis.. [:)]

I wonder if any bro/sis here already got their Honda Vezel and installed window visor for their ride?

Does it help in any way and does the car look better with it too?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm also interested in the visor. My SE told me some of his customer bought from Taobao, but the dimension doesn't match the car. Wonder if its true.

    Thanks in advance!

To me, the Visors are more for venting, less the rain or "thief-bait". I feel more secure to leave a slight gap on the window (for heat relief when parked under the Hot Sun) with my Visors installed cos its not too obvious of the opening where the "ill-intentioner" felt tempted to access..

Another scenario which I always asked my children.. What happen if its raining heavily outside the car & someone farted inside the car?? [sly][dizzy]

Above is another POV from IMO..

However, some Bro here ever mentioned that it causes some "wind sound", which I don't really notice it for my case.. [:)]

    Thanks Vantivetech.

Mazda 3 (2004) PCD is 5x114.3 Center Bore is 67.1

Vezel PCD 5x114.3 Center Bore is 64.1

Center Bore for Vezel is smaller. Question - it is safe to use as safe to use as spare tire?

    5x 114.3

I brought my own EO (I did discuss with them & gotten their consent b4 hand) which they do not denial. Oil filter used their, which they actually "open ceremony" infront of my eyes with genuine part.

Any PI allows own self settle the car loan and insurance?

Citi is offering 1.48% only for car loan compared to some 1.88, 2.28 or even 2.68?

I tried that.. with all approval from CITI.. But finally give up the idea & decided to go with my PI's loan. Partly cos he has provided me with sincerety & good service & was the one who intro this CITI lobang to me & did given me quite a good list of freebies.. So my tot was just to let him have some profit for what he has done for me.. In fact, even after I had driven the car for over 2-months already, out of goodwill, he is offering me "something" which I has been wanted to have, but don have, when I visited him few weeks ago..

Frankly, where to find such PI, to me la.. Perhaps he might have made significant profit from me during the deal, which I don't think so, there is no reason to "vomit" out to me now either. So its just friendship & goodwill.

Ya, by the way, they took a few Insurance quotes for my comparison & I also got my own Insurance & finally settle on mine, which they agreed.

    My 2-cents.. & luck.. [:p]

Coming back to the "self settle loan & insurance, yes there are PI who allow to do that. But really need to communicate peacefully & willingly over it. Afterall buying a new ride is suppose to be happy event.

Sometimes give & take is as good. who knows giving may end up with better taking.. [;)]

Called the PI and he said busy and call me back later..sounds like i no luck in this round bidding?

Your PI did not put in a bid for you.

Any amount submitted will be reflected against your NRIC number.

This is good news. I also did my 5K servicing at World Auto before CNY. At that time, they do not have W30, so I brought my own. Had a long chat with Adrian (WS manager) and convince him to bring in W30 for the Vezel folks. If there is demand, he say will take in W30 stock.

Their service is pretty good. I called them in advance to check on their W30 Stock and the receptionist promised to return my call after checking with the manager. She returned the call soon and updated me when is the stock coming in. Pretty sure they will store W30 for all Vezel owners in future
