Congrats! What color you selected? I just booked one with Sepia Bronze Metallic, a super special color even myself don't have any idea what it really look like.

Mine is blue. Not to worry, bronze is a good choice if you are not into the popular colours like white, silver or black.

Hi all. Any one of you guys bought the XT with guaranteed COE? After how many bids did you able to get the COE?

    2nd bid.

For me I think the guaranteed bid is only worth it if it is guaranteed that COE will spike.

When I went to MI, the SE told me the guaranteed price. I then asked him how much if non-guaranteed, he said 2K off. I was sure that the COE will be stable around that price or drop so I asked for non-guaranteed. This was also because my car had 2 years left and I was ok with not getting the Subaru this year anyway.

The next round of COE bidding immediately after the booking I got it (2 biddings ago). My feel is that MI (like most dealers) is just trying to make the extra 2K by touting a non-guaranteed bid. The advantage to them is of course if the COE really rocketed, then MI can get out of the deal that became too expensive for them.

I got it at 4th bid. I think when we can get COE are base on when our car arrived in Singapore.

I plonked for the guaranteed deal because it's only $1k discount for NG at that time. My deal was signed during the $38k COE week when the Forester price had a significant drop. I assumed that it will shoot right back up the following week, so went with it. And the COE did went straight back up and now the same car I bought cost $13k more. Phew....

My car is registered today and collecting next week. But SE did highlighted to me beforehand that it will not be more than 5 days.
Since he told me beforehand, I am ok.

Anyway, I got a 3 digit car plate. Was surprised. Any brother here gotten a 3 digit number?

So yours is a SLC car plate now...that's fast. Mine was registered on Mon and it is 8XXX. SE told me that car collections are mostly pushed back....too many...and all waiting for fittings.

Same here. Mine got registered today and got a pretty good 3 digit number. Likewise only collecting next week though I've been hounding him... I'm also ok with it as I still have my existing car to drive and he has also forewarned me beforehand the delivery date

The items and service intervals should be in your warranty and maintenance/servicing booklet.

Thanks for the link, i already downloaded it but the warranty and maintenance booklet is not there. I am not yet an owner. Current car is WRX, quite a lot to maintain which is out of the normal servicing. First time considering buying a non manual tranny, so not sure what is the CVT maintenance like.....

Can anyone snap a picture of the maintenance schedule table? If it's not too troublesome? Thanks.

Yes. It also helps to you visually confirm that the car is locked.
Just realized my child seat is causing deep indentations on the leather seat, and have not gone away after several hours. How to prevent this problem?

Used to put a thick towel underneath the child seat and it helps a little. Now kid grown up and using booster seat, still have slight indentations on the leather but surprising I'm ok with it. Hahaha...

I installed my Blackvue 2CH with MI and official invoice was $695.50 including installation and GST. I paid only partial as rest were covered by my SE. It costs more with MI but at least the warranty stays intact.

Looking at the interest of potential buyer, I don't see a problem. In fact increase another $10k will probably generate more sales as people worried it will go up further. Ah Seng definitely the Tan family favourite Son.

If price keeps increasing...tipping point reached...buyers might go for mazda cx5. And I believe there are several buyers that want a next stage upgrade from a Qashqai or Vezel, so past the tipping point these buyers would forego the Forester.

Thinking of replacing the stupid thing with UV100 by Exotic Wraps located at AMK Ind Park 2. The guy quoted me $450 to $650 for Forester. Not sure if any bros have installed the solar film from this guy. Thanks.

UV 100 could probably mean that UV rejection 100%. Heat is caused Infra Red. The forester solar film is able to reject 55% of the heatfor the front and 60% for the rear. uV rejection for the solar film provided is 99%.

Think what you are looking for is not UV rejection but IR rejection.

To get to 90% heat rejection.. That will cost easily above $1K.

One option is to get customised shades for your car to supplement your current solar film. Much cheaper option. Think costs around $370 from groovy. 8 piece (including front and rear windshield)

If price keeps increasing...tipping point reached...buyers might go for mazda cx5. And I believe there are several buyers that want a next stage upgrade from a Qashqai or Vezel, so past the tipping point these buyers would forego the Forester.

U thought QQ and Vezel owner has not thought about Forester before they get their car? If their next car is Forester NA, they would have already taken before getting their current drive. If u going to talk about XT performance, the CX5 is far to from behind. Not to talk about the CX5 price

Maybe 130k? Forgot to mention Xtrail the closest competitor.

Go and check the review of Xtrail vs Forester NA in sgcarmart. If it cant beat the NA, how can it cost like the XT? Isnt that mean Xtrail is overprice in term of value?

Maybe you should ask IRR blockage % coz that's what matters for heat.

As for v kool.. You also need to ask IRR as well as UVR.

Under our recent 33-35C sun for an hour will heat up any car regardless of what solar film used. Don't measure the heat rejection qualities of a film by the UV protection specs. Most films now are able to achieve more than 95% UV protection, including the MI installed ones. The price difference from other installers will come from the different solar heat rejection qualities and the 'brand'.

I had a top grade film installed for my moonroof and seriously cannot feel much difference with the sunlight directly shining through between the stock one and the top grade one. Maybe because it's really too hot recently to have any difference.

Solar film block 3 things :

    (1) Visible light transmission - how much light is blocked. This is regulated by LTA.
    (2) heat - Caused by infra red rays
    (3) Ultra violet - can cause cancer if exposed for Long.

Heat is mainly caused by Infra Red. UV Ray on the other hand is "cool" and blue in Color. Check out a fake currency detector. It use UV light. However UV Rays is more dangerous than Infra Red rays. Constant exposure to UV rays have been known to cause skin cancer.

If I am not mistaken MI solar film specs as follow
    (1) VLT - compliant with LTA
    - lighter in front while darker at the rear
    (2) UVR - 99% - very high specs
    (3) IRR - 55% front, 60% back - mid level specs

If you want to get solar film that rejects heat up to 90 % be prepared to pay more than $1K for it.

Don't think there are any solar film can withstand the heat we are having now. Try get sunshades to complement. Alternatively don't park in the open la during afternoons.

Most of the FXT buyer did not put it on their 1st choice before buying the car. Including me.

I am also concerning the Harrier.

But after test driving it, I know that I must get one. To have the same performance SUV, I will need to pay for more than $200k.

No others SUV come close in term of $/bhp.

You will also feel less warm on the skin if the afternoon shining through the window.

However, note that the above is for XV - not sure if will fit forester

If don't fit, then go Autobacs to buy one of a size that can fit forester.

What about the front and rear windscreen when most of the sun will come in from?

Activate the main washer for more than 3 seconds and the headlight washers will be activated.

I was told by SE not to get the black edition. But I think it's up to individual on what's worth to them.

The front and rear lip kit can get outside. But to get the seat cover, red trimmings maybe a little too much work. It still comes down to what kind of look you are after for your Forester and the budget.

Agreed. The black edition is only worth it to the owner if he/she really likes the STI seats which have alcantara and red stitching. Alcantara is nice to feel but maintenance can be a chore becos it's suede. I think gear knob also have red stitching but it's a minor detail

The STI front lip can be ordered from japanparts.com but it's not cheap including shipping. If I recall, it's close to $1K. IMO, The rear lip is not worth it as it's quite expensive for its small size and not noticeable

Some of us just did a group order for the laser shades. Our orders coming in mid May. All sets already reserved in this batch for Forester. Next batch will be in Jun/Jul. Did not get from MI because they are selling groovy shades which uses clips instead of magnets on the laser shades.

It will further improve the UV protection but not too sure about solar heat rejection properties. But it will definitely reduce glare for the passengers and maybe help a little with direct sunlight on the skin.

you can't really say the rear lip not worth it. STI aero parts are all tested to improve downforce and improve stability during high speed. of cos if one doesn't do NS highway often then not really needed.

but I wonder if what the SE says is true. get outside but install where? doesn't it void the warranty?

I wonder what warranty does it void when one installs STI strutbar by himself? suspension?

    front lip -> bumper?

    rear spoiler -> bumper?

That's y I said IMO: in my opinion. There are other mods which are better value for $. Different strokes for different folks...

What warranty on the bumper are you concerned with? It's a part which pp rarely claims warranty for... the sti front and rear lips are quite straightforward to install at outside workshops. Can go to BMS or BKS which are familiar with Subaru

Got my XT a week ago, clocked ~500km. My experience with XT so far :

    - Came from saloon, XT sits higher, great view with good forward visibility on the road.

    - Compared to my previous ride (06' Mercedes E, 160+hp/240NM), road/wind noise insulation of XT is acceptable. But, have not driven on NSHW yet. So, can't tell how XT score in road/wind noise at expressway speed.

    - XT's 230+hp/350NM power is best delivered smoothly. I think FC will deteriorates significantly under hard acceleration driving style. Overall, IMHO, FC is not the strength of XT.

    - The AWD performs well, considered its height. Corners feel wheels well planted, with very little body roll. So far, not observed any rattling sound, indicated a well built chassis/body. A pleasant surprise to me, actually.

    - I replaced the stock tinted films, which I felt the heat rejection performance did not meet my expectations.

    - When paired with my Android phone, the head unit can read (read out in voice) my SMS and E-mails. The only missing 'nice to have' is the GPS.

    - The reverse camera is great, with 'green/yellow/red projection lines'.

    - Overall and so far, a pleasant driving/owning experience.

Driven almost 3,500km, since took ownership of my new FXT end March 16. On NSHW and feedback to share :

    - sits higher than sedan, can view the opposite traffic across the center barrier. During raining times, mists from front vehicles had little impact to the visibility due to the higher seating.

    - the power/torque is so addictive ! One needs some strong discipline and driving maturity, to not exceeding legal speed excessively...

    - I think i switched off "recycle air" and let fresh air into the cabin. At times of turbo kicking in, possibly introduced warmer engine air into the cabin, for a while thought that air conditioner cooling capacity reduced at NSHW speed.

    - Wind noise at NSHW speed was a notch down compared to my previous 2006 Mercedes E-Class (W211), but overall acceptable and exceed my expectation. (Not a fair comparison to E-Class which had $53k OMV)

To sum up, I am enjoying every minute of my FXT !
