Midfield kind of overloaded already? I would like to see a world class CB and striker. Stop wasting money...

with this performance, i wont b surprised if Can continues to play as CB. this guys is good. with his defensive qualities combine with his natural midfield talents, he can b the ball-playing defender that rodgers wants so badly.�

the hint has been there many games back. he just either cant see it, or don hv the balls to drop gerrard w/o any reason.�

i guess all can see how fluid pool's attack was. movement fm defence to attack was quick n direct. lucas n henderson in the middle were the boss. can see that henderson was really enjoying himself in the middle, compared to being thrown as a wingback. but with games coming fast n furious, rodgers will sure hv a reason to "rest" a player on form for the old uncle.

Actually last season, liverpool play better only when Gerard is injured.

I watched the match for 70+ mins online just now and I conclude the following possible reasons for winning 4-1:

1. Gerrard not playing. Without him in midfield, there are more and better pressing. The other players do not need to cover for gerrard and just do their normal job. And the corners taken are better too.

There are arguments about what gerrard can bring, like his passing, free kicks, match winner etc but that was because gerrard play on instinct, and more individualistic and want to do everything by himself. He doesn't read the game well too. Without him, there are more teamwork, less reliant on gerrard and the players can just play their own game without looking for gerrard. And therefore when there is teamwork and playing well and winning, you don't even need to look for gerrard for match winner at all. And also the so called wonderful pass and free kicks. The success of liverpool's pressing last season is based on mainly 3 midfielder in Allen Henderson and Lucas. Coutinho is also good at pressing but he is usually assign to more attacking and creative role. To me gerrard is really redundant with the way the best man for the job set up the team.

2. The best man for the job know Swansea inside out. And vice visa too.

3. Swansea is a passing team. Just like arsenal too. Liverpool tends to play better against such teams.

4. Formation. If the same formation continues, I would think it is better for markovic to play in the middle as a forward(like sterling) rather than on the flanks. If lallana or Coutinho is not available, then markovic can play there. Same goes to Henderson too, play in the middle than on the flanks.

With Neuer pool can play with 2 CB instead of 3. He is so tough the ball see him also run towards corner flag.

That means the rest of the players especially midfield and defenders have to cover for gerrard again and can't play their normal game liao. Should put gerrard as target man up front with sterling and lallana on the flanks if the best man for the job insist gerrard plays.

Our second penalty came from him dribbling three Leicester players.... every time he dribbles, he draws two Leicester players in... then slips the ball to Lallana... potentially drawing another 2 players.... creating lots of space for other players
