I blame rodgers. Team wasnt set up properly fm the start. To put lucas n gerrard was always a mistake. Heck...to put gerrard alone is already a mistake.

See...another free kick that cant even clear the 1st defender.

lost to shitty i can accept..

to Villa, to West Ham, the way that we lost, cannot accept.

how many times he must play gerrard, lucas and henderson to know it does not farking work?

and the CBs... no longer rafa CBs, its his CBs

Last season we had a one season wonder run cos of the form of LS and DS.

a lot of pple think BR is the best tactician out there... i think he has just been found out.

BR seems to be following the footsteps of AVB. Losing one star player and bought many players at one go and the players just couldn't blend in together as a team. The only difference I guess is that the Liverpool board will give him more time to work things out compared to the trigger happy Daniel Levy.

So, who has to take blame? In my opinion, everyone including BR. No passion, no "mood". Only players making the effort are Balotelli & Lallana. Borini basically showcased to everyone why he won't feature often from now on.

After a good season & departure of our best player, oppositions now know how to destroy us. & to think Aston Villa game was bad. West Ham tonight were ruthless. & mind you, they had players like Nolan injured.

Sigh... Last season used up all the luck...

Think Rogers is maxed out Liao. Can't exceed last year results. Can only work when got miraculous players. On other days whole club got no idea how to play. Players no idea. Coach no better. Always only waiting for opponents to leave gaps for them to go through. No one and I say no one has the creativity to create opening on his own.

At this rate I'll be shocked - much as I dun like it - if we're in UCL next season. May be starring at uefa cup in Jan too...

    Sad...

The problem is that when Pool is in possession, their passing pace is just too slow. So many time they keep passing backwards, and by the time they play enough passing behind, the opponents had already well taken their placing and ready to press.

Need to run quicker, pass faster after getting possession. Not stand and watch.

I predicted Pool to lose, but I didn't expect them not to even turn up for the game.

Pool is now losing to mid-table teams. I think Pool may end up worse than mid-table this season considering the extra schedule in CL.

But deep down our hearts, we all know where the problem is ...
It's sad to see our Pool deteriorate from last year performance to now ...
I don't want to see one year in UCL and then next year out, I don't want to see one year fighting for league title and then next near fighting for mid table...

    Ya man
Din watch but from the reports it seemed that we played like crap... lose is normal mah

How to win when BR play SG plus Lucas together in a 3 man midfield?

How to win when u field players like Borini n Lucas whom we were trying to get rid of last transfer window?

As for defence, I think the goalie may be the problem

Thot should start Markovic to counter attack with pace?

How to win when concede early every game?

You guys were lucky that you didn't watch.

Because frankly, Pool didn't turn up for the game.

A lot of pple says the defence was poor. That's true, but that's because there is no midfield at all covering them. The defence gets attacked more than usual in this match. The midfield was so non-existent that Balotelli often went back to play midfield because he had 0 service most of the time.

Think BR better stop changing/rotating the team so often at this early stage....

Think he probably started in a 4-4-2 diamond hoping that the defensive midfield trio of Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard will control the midfield with backward n square passes, soaking up the pressure and then counter with Sterling in an advance role on top of the diamond. Balo playing deep n ready to fill up in the gap once Borini goes all over the place ala Suarez.

It probably din work out cos SG is too slow... Lucas not fast enough but unable to cover cos he is not in a central role. Hendo need to cover two players. BR dropped Coutinho after singing praises. A coutinho supporting Sterling might be better to stun westham w Sterling's speed with Balo looming around

BR is at fault. He tried to be too smart.

Should not have started with Borini and Lucas.

Sterling is wasted as a wing back should have started him up front with

Bolo. Bolo can win balls in the air and knock down to Sterling.

    Big man small man combination.

Bolo is good at passing into space behind defenders

for Sterling to use his pace to run onto.

Instead of starting Lucas BR should have played Lallana on the left of the diamond

BR needs to keep the same system every week and change the players not the system.

    :D

Brenden is not try to be too smart, he is naive. His mindset is Barcelona way. He said his team is not dynamic enough, but really with gerrard around how to be? Even you have the other 9 outfield players who are, the rest of the team just need to press gerrard and he can't do his so-called "quarterback" passing anymore, taking clues from last season liverpool Chelsea match. He thinks that Liverpool can just play and impose their own style and other teams will submit. But once the other teams found a weakness in Liverpool, it's easy for them to manage liverpool's attack. No doubt Brenden tried to change by playing 3 centre backs, which help push the line up abit without having the opponents pressing gerrard who do his passing from the back and in return allow the midfield to move up. Still the weakness comes from gerrard, not dynamic, not mobile, not pushing up fast enough and most importantly, imposing and controlling midfield.

And now without sturridge, there is no skilful outlet for Liverpool. But to me that is not the main issue, the main issue is always the midfield, and Brenden need to realise that if he wants his team to be dynamic, then you need all 11 players on the field to be dynamic. Don't talk cock and tell reporters that.

Rodgers hv lost his mind when picking the team. Im.sure he should hv noticed by now that lucas n gerrard cant b paired. With the players available, i would hv put lucas as DM with lallana n henderson the other 2. Sterling at the tip of the diamond with borini/lambert partnering balo.

Though that me and bro Mrmilktooth got chance when sterling scored...but it was never to be...

the midfield was simply missing. After Lallana was introduced was slightly better but hammers beginning to park bus and shut down all our players...

Sterling look tired from the CL exertion and only show flashes of his speed...but was severly lacking in the 2nd half.

Pool cant carry on playing like this. Hoping for sterling to save them now. Somethingbis really wrong if u expect a 19yr old to save ur ass.

N i see this problem few times last night. Whenever they had the ball n were supposed to b attacking, its either no one available upfront or theu chose to b passing ard in own half. By then hammers already organised. Its like they don trust the attackers with the ball.

Clubs that has certain legacy will surely be nice to long time great players and these players will also remain in their club until they retire.

Man U has that as well during Ferguson days and hence you have scholes, Giggs, etc...

Chelsea who doesn't have that legacy will then find old time great players coming back to haunt them, aka Frank Lampard... [laugh]

Don't need to laugh at other team la. We Liverpool fans don't need to stoop so low.

Anyway I think Mark Clattenburg has a personal vendetta against Man U. He has given 5 penalties against Man U already. The first penalty shouldn't have been given considering it should have been a foul on Rafael earlier.

    Enough of Man U.

Some thoughts on the current Liverpool team.

The sale of Suarez is definitely a big loss to Liverpool. Besides his goal scoring ability, Suarez brings with him his desire to win. He scored 31 goals and 12 assists in the League alone last season. So, direct and indirect goals contributed by him is 43. Liverpool collected a total of 101 goals and conceded 50 goals. So by using last season's result and subtracting away Suarez's contribution, it will work out to be 58 goals and the goal difference will be a mere +7. Examining the final table standing with similar goal difference, it is around 8th spot.

Suarez not only contribute to goals and assist, he brings along a tremendous amount of desire to win as well. He is forever hassling the rest of the team to get the ball to him so that he can try to score even they are leading by several goals. This is one of the biggest reason why Liverpool can always outscore their opponent in many games last season. Therefore, it is safe to credit Suarez with another 4-7 indirect goals and that will leave Liverpool with a negative goal difference. And that will drop Liverpool down to 10th spot where Swansea occupied with a GD of zero.

In addition to lost of Suarez, there are many new players coming in this season. They will need time to integrate with the rest of team and to build up the understanding as well as getting used to Brendan Rodger's tactic. BR didn't do very well in his first season in charge. Clearly players are trying to understand what BR is trying to do and grasping it.

So, I don't think last season was a miracle. With good players and tactics, it is possible to challenge for the title without having to spend big. It will be a miracle if Liverpool does challenge the title this season considering the difficult circumstances around it.

Therefore the realistic target this season is Champions League qualifications. Let's not have too high expectation this season.

I agree. Suarez was the biggest part in pool's successful season. Without him u can clearly see the team didnt play with the same desire. N due to the new players, they r still trying to get used to each other. I would say pool has gone back to square one when rodgers first came.

Back then the players were struggling to play to his tactics. Now the players r struggling to play as a team. N bcos of the missing link upfront, they are severely lacking in ideas.

The sale of Suarez is definitely a big loss to Liverpool.

A lot of teams are one man teams, not only us.

When Spurs sold Bale they moved from a CL team to a higher mid table team.

Barca are a great team but they are so much less effective when Messi is not playing.

Man U are not as good when Scholes and Giggs are not playing.

So many teams are one and two man teams. For us it used to be Gerrard

    and then Gerrard and Torres.

We need another great striker when Sturridge is injured

and I hope we get Karim Benzema.

Man u is too damn rich. Moyes is not good enough to burn out the cash within 3 seasons.

they need a master tactician to do that. and LVG is definitely the man for the job, very impressive after just 3 months

if he can spend another 300m per season and give a more of the superstars and even the reserve team players a nice 400k per week salary, i think he can even out manu's financial advantage by 2016.

Besides the lost of Suarez, there has been this problem with the defense ever since Mignolet came in.

As much as he is a fabulous shot stopper, even better than Reina, he still has a lot to do to become a complete keeper. Even with Reina tailing off towards his time at Liverpool, I don't recall Liverpool's defense being that leaky. This boils down to the excellent commanding and great understanding between Reina and the defenders. With Reina, the backline is like 4.5, 4 defenders and occasionally a stand-in sweeper by Reina. Liverpool has some of the meanest defense under Rafa at some point with Reina.

Having Lovren is good but he ain't the magic pill that will plug the leaks. It is about the teamwork and understanding between defenders and goalkeeper that will create a solid defense. Mignolet is severely lacking command with the defenders in front of him. Couple with the constant rotation of defenders, either due to injury or poor form, it creates further confusion. Mignolet has already demonstrated how he can be suicidal at Sunderland with some poor decision. At Liverpool he has the same tendency to make silly decisions. Collectively, Mignolet needs to sort it out with his defenders.

I do hope that Liverpool signs Valdes and provide not just a reliable and experience backup goalkeeper but also a mentor to Mignolet. Hope Valdes can impact some knowledge and improve Mignolet.

Our next SG - midfield general :)

Jordan Rossiter is the latest in a long line of "next Steven Gerrards" to emerge from the club's academy, but this youngster may stand a good chance of living up to the hype.

He has has caught the eye of almost anyone that has had the chance to see the 17-year-old play. Tenacious and talented, he's captained the Reds at under-18 and under-21 level, and has forced his way into Brendan Rodgers' thinking with a string of excellent performances for the club's youth teams.

The tough-tackling midfielder is now believed to be on the verge of a first start in tonight's Capital One Cup tie with Middlesbrough.

Brendan Rodgers has defended his captain Steven Gerrard, insisting he has no concerns whatsoever over his performances this season.

    .

    .

    .

But, asked before Tuesdays Capital One Cup third-round home game against Middlesbrough whether he had any concerns about the standard of Gerrards display against West Ham, the Liverpool manager said: No concerns whatsoever, no. He is a brilliant player for us, really talented. It was a team performance overall that just wasnt quite up to scratch.

    .

    .

He added: I feel we have managed his recovery really well in the last two seasons. Even when Steven was playing international football, I think if you look at his numbers and games and minutes he has played, youll see in the last couple of seasons that it is as good as it has been in his career.

He is obviously at the age where we will look at him individually as a player. We want him to be involved in our big games because of his experiences and his talent, and well always taper that recovery for him to allow him to be at the very best he can be.
