MI will have to refund my deposit if I opt not to top up after 8 bids.
May be my SE too many orders on hand and I'm least priority to her as I booked during end may.

i see. So you have been waiting for close to 3 months now.

Mind sharing how much you paid for the FXT/FNA? I went to test drive last week and was quoted 128k for FXT, guaranteed COE. IIRC, anther 4k for the top-up to the Black Edition.

    $128,000/240HP = $533/HP.
    $128,000/350N-M = $365/NM.

Not sure where I can go with the above analysis ... too free on Friday nite...

Hi, suggest u inspect the spare tyre compartment. Was told during the new driver's workshop that the sound could be coming from the car jack rattling against the sides.

Hi...yes...in fact I tried to secure all loose n movable items in the book & had the car jack wrapped in soft sponge that doesn't create noise...thus far...exhausted almost whatever suggestions I can gather on the web...kids telling me they can hear noise in the A-Pillar (if that's how it's called) next to the front passenger seat where the seat belt is...will ask MI to troubleshoot that area next week. Will update! Thanks!

Check the retractable cover for the boot. May be loose

That's the 1st thing I checked n even removed it totally from car but still noise. Kind of narrowed down now to the pillar next to front passenger seat where the seat belt runs from...seems like noise from there. Other area would be the whole rear seat. Thanks for advising!

I am one of those guys who signed for FNA 8 bid ng during end May. Finally secured my COE in the recent bidding. I was approached to top up 3K, but did not do so as I am not in a hurry to get car. It was lucky to secure the COE on the 6th bid..

Congrats!! Did MI automatically bidded more for you this round than the last few rounds? What color did you pick and how much did you purchase during end May?

Hmm.. not sure for your case if MI will bid the same again for the last 2 rounds. COE came down a little this round but may not be able to drop another 3k within the next 2 rounds. You may want to consider topping up if you do not want to take the risk.

    Good Day all the bro/sis,

Planning to buy forester within this few week before the next COE, since the price is quite attractive now. Anyone can share what free gift we can ask from SE, currently my SE tell me no camera, no mat, no 1 year free servicing. Scare tio Chop, becos other brand SE are able to give alot more. Just thinking is it the MI that set those No free gift rule or is the SE don wish to give. PS: sorry for my bad English.

    Thanks and regard

I might not opt to top up. In fact my SE is not keen even I asked about it and told me still got two bids to go.

What's the difference for black edition? Anything special? I can't seem to find anything abt it online

black edition comes with half alcantara seats, STI strut bar and links, blacked-out grill. Mostly cosmetic add-ons.

bad thing is that alcantara becomes smelly after a while, quite absorbent to perspiration. [:|]

107k sounds like a very good price. Considering the fact the Vezel is around 103 to 104k now.

3k more.... for a whole lot more space/gadgets...

Actually 105k is with trade in else the price will be 107k. As such you can consider a 4.5k above paper.
Since already secured the Coe just relax and wait for collection to enjoy your new ride. No point look back n compare.

:) regardless topping up or not, hope everyone is able to secure a COE and eventually get their car. In my opinion, really think Forester regardless XT or NA will be a great car. Am driving a sedan now and had been looking at vezel, qq, cx5, Tucson. Once I saw Forester, there's no turning back.

No point worrying about re sale value, it's just a ten year rental. Previous car was an 08' Altis, went back BM this year wanting to get the new Altis but they only give 1k above paper value cos of high millage. Never wanted nor thought of Subaru cos it's ah beng car, drink petrol, turbo explode easily and etc.. But my impression changed when test drove them, it's really confidence in motion, safety for my family. A cheaper version of XC60.

Have you tried Tiguan or Harrier? Some say they are better than FXT.. Don't narrow down to FXT yet.. FC bad and turbo may spoil.. Some say..

That's interesting. When we say FC is bad, will the new CVT really help to reduce FC? Also, engine size also smaller 2.0

About taking value of my current car, MI offered me the highest that I got so far.... Maybe I only inquired about 50% Of the dealers.... Hahahahaha

But seriously, is XT reliable? So reliable that we can ignore doing servicing at MI and forget about the warranty thing?

    Thanks bro in adv

Back to square one. If now can think about all the cons, then before you buy why never think about this? Only got himself to blame...

I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. I'm just discouraging others from buying. Lol...

Done my 2nd servicing and realise that MI change the gasket again.

Did not really ask since it is free.

Anyway, i was wondering whether it is really necessary. Because after the 3rd servicing, this will add to the cost :)

They r trying to avoid the infamous oil leak issues...gasket replacement is cheap. Oil leaks more problematic when cleaning up and explaining to customers...

Hi All...just got my FXT couple of weeks back & there is this annoying rattling/squeaky sound seems to be coming from the rear...either boot or rear seats which I just can't pinpoint after googling. Folded seats down n up, checked seat belt on roof, any shaky plastic parts in boot area all taped down, styrofoam boards covering spare wheels examined...still can't rid the sound! Super annoying n MI can't resolve it during my 1st servicing. Heard it could be the rear seat as it's locally installed. Anyone had the same problem n managed to settle it? Pls advise...thanks much! Can WhatsApp me at 90303299!

Check the middle seatbelt that is on the roof. I got this rattle for a awhile and took me awhile to discover it. Pull out and tuck it in again and the rattle disappears.

When someone ask why forester low resale value, isn't that a stupid question? In the 1st place, what is the car he is comparing with higher resale value? Are they comparing apple to apple?

There areno brainers(?) that claimed honda has better resale value thanmazda, but do they take into the consideration that Honda is 10k more ex than mazda for their similar range of car? Thebuyer already paid 10k more upfront and later sell at 10k higher later and feel that it is a great deal [laugh] what a big joke whom doesn't know how to do their math. [hur]

Or no brainer buyer whom is hoping that he can buy at cheaper ratethan other car brand but sell at higher rate than other car brand? Which CAR Brand is that he known of which he is comparing with?

both Tiguan and harrier is a good 20k more expensive than Forester.

    i don't think it's a fair comparison.

Yup. Indeed their market is very niche.

I just got 600+km/L from my last tank. Travel more hw. About 60% hw. All in i mode with some spirited drive 3k plus rpm. I'm a conservative driver. Seldom go beyond 3k. Esso 8000 is good for forester.

60L is tank size. You need to divide 600km with actual litre top up may.
    Which he already mention 54L.
FXT is 1600kg+ weight. Plus AWD. So that is very good.

Sinkies are very difficult to understand. Willing to pay 10-12k in depreciation but trying to squeeze out every dollar of savings from petrol. If the extra 20% better consumption means a lot, meansone is not ready and should not be buying a car.

Maybe they change to a Harrier which had better FC.

But they forget to calculate that Harrier is at least $20k more ex than FXT. And it will be super boring to drive.

    FXT.
Name me a price and it will be your...
    Better be quick ah..
Many ppl pm me liao.. [;)]

mrhan1982 you interested to sell your too?

Despite all the discouraging stuff I post for potential buyers... I'm actually keeping mine for as Long as possible. After which, I will probably buy the next new fxt and drive and drive it all over again... I've owned and driven many jap sedans( including a 2.5L v6 mark x) and crossovers (including the cx5 famous for handling), but to me, the fxt is by far the best among the best of the whole lot of cars I've driven before.

ya fxt. About 600km from 54L of esso 8000. 60% highway with not much jam. If I travel 40% hw, it's around 10km/L.

    I only get 400km for 51l, 70% city driving.

600km for 54l? How you drive?

Such good FC unacceptable for a Subaru! You are not driving it the correct way.

Subaru is meant to drive hard and rev a lot to cobsume a lot of fuel while not giving farks cos its too fun!...it not to drive like a wuss.. That's wat the vezel and QQ is for.

    kkkkkkkk

10km/L for AWD, 2.0TC engine, i think its quite reasonable for the heavy FXT.

anything more than that would be a bonus.

10km/L OMG that is already very good liao lei consider its weight and its a SUV 4wd

Lol... I normally keep revs to ard 2k or less, unless overtaking slower vehicles or those road hoggers. Anything above 3k is like trying to bully ppl Liao. Not that I trying hard to save fuel but I just drive according to traffic conditions. I always take lane 1. Sometimes, ppl try to be funny, I do occasionally bully them a bit, just a bit la. Lol.

Actually if I do a lot of city driving I will just drive in i mode all the way. Dun need to step very hard, just around 2k to 2.5k already always ahead of others at traffic lights.

But ppl generally dun care awd or wat. They just compare the raw fc. For me, I dun mind lugging my heavy awd and fxt body wherever I go, coz I know no matter the road conditions or weather ( heavy rain), I can just drive like any sunny day. Lol ... Under heavy rain, those powerful rwd bmws balls will shrink.. Heheh
