    Must buy a better goalie

Liverpool attackers think all goalies are like Mignolet... trying weak shots from far

A bad bad result if it ends in a draw (which seem very likely). Comfortably 2 goals up n defence decided to b clowns.
Both subs are traitors. 1st markovic blocked a shot, then borini blocked coutinho's shot. Wtf.

No wonder Pool shots are so feeble. Bec they train agst Mignolet who does not dive far...

A good wake-up call to the Kop management to start looking for defensive options once the transfer window opens over the weekend.

Heart pain seeing how a 2-0 lead became a draw.

Such bottom teams will start fighting for points to stay in the league.

we had 18 shots and they had 16...no team is a pushover in the league.

Even with ref help, Pool still can't win the team at the bottom of the league!

So typical of BR's game. Very naive decisions. For e.g sub Lallana with Borini and move Sterling to the side. Sterling was creating all kinds of trouble at the top...should have brought on Markovic for lallana and keep the shape.

Gerrard cannot play 90 minutes la even though he is BR landlord.

Should have won when both Man U & Arsenal did not do well this week

Whatever it's being said about so and so player is enough already. It's beginning to get really long winded if we keep repeating about the shortcomings of this player.

And as long as the best man for the job doesn't make tough decisions, he has to be sacked. I thought he is starting to be willing to make tough decisions that's why liverpool's results starts to improve. But I guess nothing change. Happy new year everyone.

But seriously, of the top 4 contenders, Man City n Pool had the easiest festive fixtures . If one didn't capitalise on that, one may regret sooner or later

this is good news for a lot of pool fans. even the reports in soccernet shows that gerrard is making the team worse. bcos of him, henderson shoved to the right. bcos of him, the midfield is too far back. bcos of him, pool turn defence into attack too slowly.

As a fan who has watched Gerrard's debut as a teenager, to rescuing Liverpool countless times, to lifting the Champions League title, it is indeed emotion to see a maverick 'retiring' for Liverpool.

I do hope that someday, like King Kenny, he comes back to Liverpool FC to continue working in a different role.

And hopefully, when the day that he is back, he can join in the celebration when Liverpool FC wins the league title.

Now that Gerrard is leaving, personally I don't think Henderson is the right person to take over the captain's armband. Unfortunately, there isn't any player right now, that shares the same heritage as Gerrard and Carragher, breed through the academy and spends majority of the time in Liverpool.

However, based on performance for the past few matches, 2 person catches my attention - Emre Can and Adam Lallana. Can is being played in a different position (although he is not totally alien to that) in recent matches, I have seen anybody as calm even when surrounded by opposition players. He is the kind of player whom other players can look up to when he team is under sustain pressure. Lallana has been a captain at Southampton prior to joining Liverpool. Therefore, that itself speaks a lot about his ability to wear the captain's armband in a match. He's performance in recent matches is probably the closest Liverpool have to that of Xavi Alonso. In addition, he's work rate speaks a lot on the pitch.

Can is 21 and is probably too young to take over the captain's armband right now. If he stays the way he is, I don't see why he can't be the future Liverpool's captain. Lallana is 27 and has vast experience in the BPL and being an ex-captain at Southampton, should be in pole position to take over Gerrard.

The Reds fell agonisingly short of ending their wait to reclaim the crown of being England's top club when they finished second to Manchester City under Rodgers last season.

And Gerrard, who has previously twice been a runner-up in the top flight, is convinced that had he played under the Northern Irishman from the age of 24, he'd have several Premier League titles to his name.

Instead, the 34-year-old revealed his decision to depart Anfield was influenced by Rodgers admitting the skipper would not be a definite starter for the remainder of this season.

Speaking in an emotional interview on LFC TV, Gerrard said: I had an idea it was going to come at some time Im a human, not a robot. Im not 24.

I wish I was 24, I wish Id met Brendan when I was 24 because I think Id be sitting here talking about a lot of titles that wed won together.

The reality is, Brendan came into this club when I was 32 years of age and its a shame that relationship didnt start 10 years ago.

So Long Stevie! Gerrard says GOODBYE Anfield, HELLO 90 million

FOOTBALL legend Steven Gerrard and wife Alex will rake in a whopping 90 million fortune when they quit Liverpool to live in the States.

he Reds captain, 34, leaves his boyhood club at the end of the season and will then head to America to play Major League Soccer for the rest of his career.

Experts say the clean-cut Scouse duo will take the US by storm and become the new Posh and Becks.

Gerrard is currently worth in the region of 45 million.

The toughest decision of my life

    Steven Gerrard

But he is expected to comfortably double that amount through wages and sponsorship deals across the pond as his career sees a big money resurgence.

Marketing guru Nigel Currie reckons Stevie and model Alex, 32, who have three daughters, would thrive in the wholesome US market.

Its a bittersweet feeling knowing gerrard is quitting pool. On one hand, we obviously know that he can no longer lead the team n currently is only dragging the team down. As much as he wants to play every single minute of every game, he must know that his body can longer do it. He should take a back seat n let the team move forward.

But on the other hand, he deserves every right to demand things from the team. After countless times of saving it, nobody can deny his rights. Choosing to stay n fight instead of moving to moneybags chelsea will definitely b one of the main reasons he will remain a legend.

The thing about gerrard is, we know his strengths and weaknesses. And he is not suitable for the position the best man for the job wants him to play. He is no doubt one of the greatest player liverpool ever have. And he is a local lad, supporters from liverpool naturally see him as one of them.

Personally I still put Dalglish as the greatest liverpool player of all time, not because gerrard did not win the league and Dalglish did, but because of the way Dalglish is able to be always being one of the players in the team. Of course it is not totally gerrard's fault that he is always the main guy to look for in the team, but for liverpool to be successful like in the past, it has to be playing as a team. That is why previously when a player leaves liverpool, he will not be as successful because playing in a Liverpool team makes him look better than he actually is. The strength and success of liverpool lies with mixing decent good players, not necessary very good players, playing together as a team. The passing and clinical uncomplicated style of play really destroy other teams. And liverpool incorporate patience and keeping possession to become successful in Europe.

Letting gerrard go is the right choice. It is what the liverpool of old normally do, letting players who can no longer be good enough go and replace them gradually. But did liverpool sign a replacement already like the liverpool of old do? I don't know.

Gerrard can stay if he wants to but it seems like once he knew he will not be in the starting eleven regularly, he wants to leave already. So good luck to him.

    With Gerard leaving...

We need reinforcements in the following department:

    Goalie - someone like Reina

Forward - a young sturridge type.. can play on the wings n move central... though we already hv Sterling and Ibe

DM/CM - I would say we need defensive cover rather than firepower....

    Any other suggestions?

A pair of young Leicester City fans stranded in Liverpool were given a helping hand by a generous stranger after Thursday's Premier League match.

A sixth form studentposted to Reddit's Liverpool groupunder the name "LCFCRyan" asking for advice on free accommodation in the city. He and his 10-year-old nephew had taken the train up that morning, but they ended up stranded overnight after a cab mix-up.

To cut this long story short, I spent the last of my spending money on a cab to the wrong train station. We had to walk all the way from the airport back to the city, there were no buses running which was strange. By the time we got back to lime street our train had departed and there were no other trains leaving to London until tomorrow.

While he was just asking for advice on an indoor public place to spend the night, what he got was an act of serious generosity. A Reddit user named "OfficePlum" made the following offer:

Wait near the main entrance to Lime Street (the entrance facing the big TV screen) and I'll give you the money for a hotel room and a taxi so you can get there safety. I'll be there in about 15 minutes.

The young Leicester fan accepted the offer and provided a follow-up response the next day.

Sorry for replying late, as soon as we got in to our room I literally just fell to sleep. I just want to tell you how thankful myself, my nephew and my family are. My sister who is also the mother of my nephew is driving up to Liverpool right now and I don't think she will be letting me take him on another trip any time soon.
In all seriousness I don't know what we would have done if it wasn't for you and I personally will never forget your generosity.

It was a happy ending to a potentially disastrous night, but the generosity didn't end there. The family of the stranded fans donated money to two local charities as a thank you. Per LCFCRyan:

My sister has donated twice the amount our hotel room cost to a local homeless charity called the whitechapel centre who help the homeless and rough sleepers in the region to find a home. We thought it was a very fitting charity. I don't have much money since I'm still in 6th form but my parents have also donated on my behalf to the JFT96 charity.

    Yes we do.

You know when you bring your umbrella and its doesn't rain

As soon as Origi comes to Anfield

Sturridge will be super fit and never get another injury

and score lots of goals and Origi will have to sit on the bench.

    Capt Marvel to the rescue.
A nervy win away from home against "lowly" opposition.....
Wimbledon set a game plan and I would say did quite well.
Targeting our weakness thru aerial bombardment and set pieces.
    We still can't defend properly....
Still, a win nonetheless ( dun need replay or crash out ) and progress into next round vs Bolton....
Would be a fitting sending off for SG if he could lift a cup at Wembley.
On the side note: Lallana is out for a month, just when he is getting into gear.......
