Did you feel the air conditioning lost some cooling ? I always suspect that hot air from engine compartment find its way into the cabin, when whacking along the way.
Or you whacked with air conditioning Off ?

I can't speak for the SJ forester, but for my previous SG5 and current Legacy, when the water temp exceeds a certain level, the ECU will auto cut off the aircon cooler function so the AC feels warmer.

eh tbh i didnt really notice the air con.. i was busy monitoring the temp see if it will go further up but seems like 105 is the peak temp.

I bet that Vezel didn't see that coming... LOL
Anyway even the FNA's sport mode is more than sufficient to distance the Vezel...

Both are far from their speed limits so actually is a matter of whether the Vezel wants to chase and continue his freaky antics or not mah...

Engine oil temp. That is the symbol used for engine oil.

Actually why do we need to monitor engine oil?

I thought knowing the coolant temp will be better.

Or maybe sun too powerful make cabin feel slightly warmer??

That is why I upgraded solar films (max heat rejection for moonroof),added groovy shades also.
But, my final verdict is manage the drive to enjoy the comfort.

This middle one in the triple gauge.

Is it measuring the coolant temp or engine oil temp?
    Or something else?

That I believe is oil temperature.

6 days shouldn't discharge the battery unless it's a design fault or old battery. But nevertheless it's appalling

My car has no dash cam ... basically bone stock. I reckon old batt or there is some parasitic draw.

The stock batt is 48 Ah ... not very high. I've seen BMW batt that is 100 Ah.

Reckon I'll Google see if it's common or I hv a lemon.

Just a guess, reading about supply issues in the US....could be production struggling so they making the most out of each unit now especially since local demand seems to be picking up as more are seen on the road.

This thread is the main cause why the prices went up. Look at the number of pages!!! Compared that with the OB thread..

OB used to be $12-15k more expensive than an FXT.

See la see la.. Talk some more la...

Have frequently went on holidays of up to 2 weeks 2-3 times a year and just left the car in the car park.

Never once had problems starting the car after the holidays.

Iirc, the manual or some instructional video did mention disabling the keyless entry if you'll be away for awhile. The keyless sensor is active... Will always be scanning for keys. Having said that it's low power consumption also..

You can find some info and pics online with Google, as it's quite popular over normal shades (comes with a higher price tag as well).

Research also on Laser Shades. It's the same as Groovy Shades except that it uses magnets instead of clips. I got the Laser Shades as it's easier to install and there are no clips on the window sills when I remove the shades. Both serve the same purpose, so it's personal choice.

I think about the same. MI carry the Groovy Shades (I think $180) but not the Laser Shades. If buy from MI can offset some of the price with your DUO points. I got the 6-pieces Laser Shades set with some group buy with other owners last month. 7-pieces set will include the rear screen but at a higher price. I did not get the rear shade as I have rear camera.

We managed to get $10 discount off the Laser Shades last month when we had 4 or 5 buyers for a group buy.

What I like about these shades are that they conformed to your window shapes perfectly without any gaps and I'm able to wind down the windows without taking off the shades.

And they're effective in reducing the heat And glare from direct sunlight.

So I did the soundproofing with MI, for 4 doors and roof plus the undercarriage coating. cost $1760. it's some aluminium coated pads, quite heavy, side benefit the doors now got solid heavy thud when closing. results are pretty decent, wind noise cut down quite a bit, could hear the radio at lower volume. road noise also cut down but effect not as pronounced as the wind noise reduction. overall pretty satisfied - i think i could have gotten a better deal in terms of price but i'm not really zai at such stuff so having MI do it is easier for me.

Thanks for your review, and I'm glad to hear you're happy with the results. I take it you did both anti-rust and sound dampening Clasani undercarriage coats. For the aluminium pads in doors and ceiling, do you know what brand they are? Did you have to leave your car with MI overnight or were they done within the day?

For me, it isn't wind noise either, but noise from other vehicles, as well as noise reflected from concrete road dividers.

How old is your car batt? Either something wrong with the batt or something is drawing current while your car is locked.

Distilled water means its pure water, good for battery. In fact i have taken de-ionised water from the school's science lab for years to be used on my parent's car without problem before maintenance free battery are common.

Deionized water and distilled water are two different things. Deionized water is what is in battery water. There are no ions. So you won't get hard water precipitation. Distilled water still contains ions which foul up your battery and cause premature precipitation of the lead sulfates in a form that cannot be reversibly changed back to a meta-stable soluble form. Then your battery capacity will drop.

Anyway taking deionized water from your school constitutes cheating your school and stealing. The deionizer cartridge is very expensive and the more water that is passed through the faster you have to replace it.

I do 30-70 Highway-Town and got a much lower FC than yours - all on "I" mode. I am trying out S mode this tank to see if any better (looks like worst so far).

S mode bad for 90% expressway and it holds on the rev of 2k rather than <1.5k when at 90km/Hr. But SPC98 has better pick up than SPC95 or perhaps is a placebo effect

Why not just reset the gauge and report average speed and average fuel consumption between refill? The speed reading is a good guide of urban and highway driving ratio assuming the formula in computing the reading does not differ much between manufacturer.

Is an additional GPS module, cost $1800 for current owners. No upgrades on the HU or any other things.

Good idea, average speed to determine the %

Wow. I didn't know new car batteries comes with this battery water requirement.
Can ask if there is a standard period of time we have to top up battery water? Or any special checks for this kinda batteries?
Paisei, I've only used maintenance free battery before.
Or can check if there is any kind of trade in for battery? It's a hassle to have to track the battery water level.

I was using maintenance free battery all along too. So when it died on me, I just called up AA to have it replaced. Please pardon my ignorance, may I know what do we do to replace the wet battery when it died on us. Have the car towed to and battery replaced at the workshop?

The life span of the maintenance free battery i had used so far always lasted about 1 to 1.5 years. Hope a wet battery can typically last longer.

No kidding? I wasn't aware that our HUs had video input. And how would you switch to this new input unless MI got Subaru's HU vendor, Fuji Ten, to modify the HU firmware? Unless it works with the 6.2-inch HU but not the 7-inch one?

I wouldn't pay $1.8k for it but if it does display on the HU, that's attractive. And if MI is giving it away now, that's pretty cool.

I am glad it is not built in and didnt have to pay for it. Some money I have saved. And these things can become neglected after a few years without committment by MI et al to upkeep. Trusted Google Maps that is always updated is perfect for me.

Totally agree bro... I always prefer Google Maps. Even if I'm going to Malaysia, cos Google Maps has off-line maps and off-line turn by turn navigation. Try it. Works wonderfully. The downloaded area can be quite big. Usually I download the maps for each day at the hotel that I stay in, Malaysia or further afield.

I only did the undercarriage coating at $290. Was quoted 4 doors and roof for $1150. Both add up should be $1440. Not sure if I were quoted correctly.

I am using Waze. as usable as Google map. At least, Waze speaks street names which is why I prefer it. Google map used to speak street names too but not anymore which is why I turn to Waze. You can give it a try, definitely worth a try.

If i have offended in anyway please accept my sincere apologizes. I am just stating what i know. ( I could be wrong) It is not nice calling someone a thief on public forum without understanding what is going on before hand.

I am not a chemist but i have never seen any fact that distilled water is not suitable for topping up lead acid battery. Most if not all car owner's manual/ website advise using distilled water unless it is maintenance free type.. Attachment from Forester owner's manual.

I booked 8am appt today. Reached at 7.45am and I was already the 8th car... Received SMS at about 1030am that car was ready.

This included a car wash which I have requested them not to do it as I prefer to wash it on my own. Surprisingly, the car wash was quite well done.

It's not right to take it for personal use but Relax bro... how much water can you possibly take unless u drink it or use it to wash car... Car battery is quite small and the water level doesn't drop that fast

I do not know the answer but let me share something. My sis in law scratched her car 2 sides in carparks. Went to Mazda thinking that otherwise will void warranty. Quote was $1,800 albeir for 6 panels with some dents.

When I heard that I thought that she was mad. Contacted a painter that I know and it was $800. Looks the same as the original car.

Distilled water not equal to deionized water... I'm not sure if the drinking type of distilled water meets the battery specifications lar... cos when the manual states distilled water, they could well be referring to battery water that is sold in shops. Usually, the battery manufacturer will specify the ion content of the water used to fill the battery and there is a tolerance range for some of the common ions present in raw water.

Jamesgetz, yeah, thats next on the list, thinking of changing at the next tyre change

Muser, no idea what brand, very sorry. the invoice just says aluminium coated pads. i left my car overnight, i think they can probably rush out in the evening if you sent it in at 7.30am, but for me i wanted them to check other stuff as well and i wasn't in a rush, thought better to get them to do it properly, so i just said i'll pickup the next day. it was done by lunchtime the next day.

Slazen, the doors, roof and undercarriage did cut down the noise quite significantly in my opinion, so i was quite happy with the results. hopefully will improve more with the tyre change. akan datang

Would the "coating" help to reduce the heat (from engine compartment) radiant through the front doors hinge areas ? (which some heat ultimately find its way into cabin)

Once you stop the engine, open front door and feel the heat at the hinge area.
