Planning to visit Liverpool next February probably for the Man City match on the 28th. What is the best way to get there? Flying to Manchester or London? Saw the flight by Etihad Airlines at $1200+ but transit at Abu Dhabi and total time could be up to 22h. Worth it? What are the places of interest I can go around apart from Beatles museum and Anfield? And can I purchase the match day ticket in advance? Like right now?

If I'm not wrong the LFC S'pore supporters club will only have matches for 1st half of the season available so Feb being 2nd half will only be available later.

U can try Thomas Cook Sport but it'll def be more ex than buying direct from LFC but likely u will hv to include a night stay in one of the hotels on their list cos they sell tickets + accomodation.

If above fails, you can try LFC hospitality which includes meals but this one even more ex than Thomas Cook. That said, for matches against top sides like City, Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal etc, sometimes even hospitality can't get or super ex. Bopian if want to go sometimes have to pay thru your nose cos tickets are really limited.

Just remembered, there is also a ticket exchange website called viagogo but I'm not sure if Pool is one of the clubs tied to them.

Good Luck and enjoy your visit!

Just remember Dec/Jan period is super cold, got to bring lots of winter wear to stadium :)

The weather in Liverpool is super "dull", very dark most of the days.. anyway, you will smile a lot when Pool wins :))

One more thing to add: Be careful on the match dates cos although as of now it's Sat 28/2, the TV fixtures are not out for Feb so the game could be pushed to Sun 1/3 and also if Pool or City reach the League Cup Final, the City game will be postponed as the League Cup Final is scheduled for that weekend.

BTW, do take in the stadium tour whilst you are there; educational and historical. You'll be amazed at the trophies on display!!

There's a home match vs Burnley on Tue 3/3 as per the fixture list.
Maybe safer you attend this match albeit the City game would be nicer.

There's also a potential UCL 2nd round match on 24/25 Feb but this one dependent on too many factors ie whether Pool qualify, which leg is at home etc. We overseas fans are subjected to alot of uncertainties including weather so it's tough to plan.

Since you bunking in with friend at least the accomodation no issue.

I've checked out thomascook and the cheapest ticket which include one night accommodation for the city match is US$600. That's quite a bomb. Maybe I be LFC member and see whether they sell tickets per match for international fans.

Forget about Thomas Cook since so ex and just saw that Viagogo don't sell LFC tickets.

I doubt if you can get tickets for International fans as member but you can try.

I logged into LFC Hospitality just now. Not sure why the City game not selling, you have to register though which is free. Prices range from GBP150 to early GBP200 for the Spurs game on 10/2 so can use as a guide. There's quite a few packages which includes meals as mentioned previously. If you keen on this route, send email to check on the City game availability.

Not really. modern football, the striker needs to have several roles.

Case in point, superb goalscorers like Van Nistelrooy but don't contribute to team play.

He may have scored a lot of goals but he still coincided with a relatively trophyless period for Man U.

If ur striker isn't doing somethings, u are essentially 1 man down.

Look at hernandez. He has something that can't be taught, poacher's instinct. But his overall contribution on the pitch is weak.

Actually from last match against spurs, mario show some promising. Not sure about his temper yet since it is his only first game. Hope he turn out to be another great buy as a forward. Talking about forward, it seems Liverpool have great replacement throughout their history. Rush - Fowler - Owen - Torres - Suarez (Sturridge).. And hopefully now Mario..

I think there is Baros after Owen, but i think he is ok stricker..

The trophyless period was more due to the selling of beckham

While Hernandez is largely due to the rise of Ronaldo.

The situation this year is more jialat then last year... Top 4 no gurantee why talk about title??

We prove then wrong over the year too.. Especially when they say we can win the title. Usually we struggle for top 4

actually i want to say you all always prove doubters wrong is when they expect you all to win but then you all end up losing over the 20 yrs....but out of respect i decided not to say... until you say it...lol

well... if pool continue from last season, there is a chance they be fighting for EPL come May.... but with both your fullbacks coming from spain, let's see how they cope during Dec period as their body is not used to without rest in Dec...

GS....dont get the fans wrong. their heads r not in the sky. it's just that there is more optimism compared to previous seasons. so its actually not arrogance...it's only the feel good factor that is running thru the veins of pool fans.

pls grant us this chance to b happy. hehe.

    That's true :))
At least, majority Pool fans don't appear in other fans club / thread, and start to shout Pool is good :D

There is greater optimism this year, as we can see how much Pool has increased under BR.
This is caused for the "feel good" factor :)
Ultimately we re aiming for at least a trophy this year, hopefully so.
We shall see how Pool perform throughout the season.... with hope in our heart, and we can continue to dream of our aspirations :)
You Will Never Walk Alone :))

hopefully but sad to say it seems quite a few fans already head in the sky..... last year was really bad.... never expect some pool fans to be more obnoxious than man u fans.... and pool have not even won the premierleague yet...

wow, din know other clubs fans also come in and read pool thread ;p

This season i settle for UCL Qualification... we lost a 30 goal striker... damn 31, replace with 8 or 9 players also cannot replace 20 of those goals lor..

Yes, we get UCL and they get nothing...

then LVG get fired half way, and let them sink into the abyss that was pool in the early 90s under souness.. that would do very nicely ;p

1 season out of ucl, they can sign world class stars, 2 season out of ucl, they can sign intl stars, 3 seasons out of ucl, even wannabe stars from europe wun come ;p

Ok lah, don't condemn them too much lah :D

But, I think LVG is a good manager, just wondering if their Board will give him time or not...

    Anyway, back to Pool :)

Lambert and Sterling both have assists in both 3Lions goals :))

4 days of rest, and hope to see them in this Sat match against Villa.

Likely Lambert to partner Mario :))
