Happy days will be here, if the Best Man is to be believed:

Brendan Rodgers has 'absolute belief' in ending Liverpool's 25 years of title torment

Brendan Rodgers is adamant he will turn Liverpool into Barclays Premier League title challengers once more and ensure the disappointments of this season are a blip.

According to news reports, liverpool supporters will not be attending hull match as a protest on price tickets. Hull still fighting for relegation so I I don't think this match will be easy for liverpool. I think Allen will come in for gerrard coz I can't see gerrard having the stamina to play 2 matches in a row in such a short time. Last time rafa was criticised for rotation but our best man for the job change players' position and formation. Does that consider rotation too? [laugh]

So the best man for the job wants a marquee player to sign for liverpool. How about signing a marquee manager [laugh] He really really really really, really really said a lot of things. One day say CL can attract top players to sign liverpool, another day say having difficulty attracting players despite having CL, no CL also can attract players, can challenge, still can finish second, 5th is just about right etc etc. then finish 6th mdt be sack lor? [laugh]

Still the best quote from him is still I am the best man for the job. That's why I don't use his name anymore. What for when he is so into promoting himself, always like to make himself look good?

Either that or we are trying to avoid qualifying for Europa league. Then the best man of the job can show how good he is to be able to plan for just one match per week and challenge for title again. Then qualify CL Liao play like shit in the league and CL again.

    He is lost...

    Lost in his own world...

    Lost the dressing room ...

Lost the abiity to motivate players ...

Lost the tactical know how to break down defence...

Lost the ability to guide / teach players how to defence after last season ....

He has lost everything... except his own ego ...

Can we stop him from losing our beloved Liverpool from slumbing down ?!

Hope FSG can just stop his daydreaming... by letting lose this lost sheep to the wilderness....

FSG is not known for its patience, they must have liked BR immensely , 3 years and 220 mil pounds later, if they keep him beyond this season.

He spoke of marquee signing after Hull defeat and the following are from Thisisanfield.com:

Brendan Rodgers tactical indecision has become increasingly evident in these last few weeks and the Liverpool manager must have a definite first-choice formation before signing new players this summer.

Much has been made of Liverpools recruitment last summer, with many feeling the club performed badly in the transfer market at a time when they had the chance to kick on and compete.

As is the norm at this stage of any season, the Reds are being linked with players left, right and centre. Until Rodgers knows a definite first-choice formation though, its pointless signing anyone

Two summers ago Liverpool missed out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, an attacking midfield player. Instead of moving for a similar player to fill whatever role they had in mind for the Armenian, they switched their attention to Diego Costa, a centre-forward. They missed out on him too and then made an unsuccessful play for Willian, a winger/wide midfielder. It appeared to be a completely scattergun approach and last summer was exactly the same. Honestly, how can you go from Alexis Sanchez to Mario Balotelli?

KD's team beta imo.... I juz hope FSG will stop funding transfer fees for BR to waste for next season n save it for the next manager... we r definitely not challenging for title next season, as long as BR is still at helm... he can dream n tok all he wans.... he juz nv wake up!

if we were playing well and lost, then i accept the defeat graciously.

But i guess (did not bother to watch after reading the comments posted) they did not fare well.

i still rmbd the game agst man utd at anfield earlier this season where they played with eagerness and lost 3-0 (if i do not recall wrongly). I accepted the defeat and was happy bec we played with guts and passion. There was hunger and drive in the team...

i was supportive of BR before as i blve we should gv him the time to groom and impose his style. Sadly, he seems muddle-headed now. I also seem to have lost patience with him. Then again, who can replace him. Will Rafa do a temp role? Is it good for the club that we have grown to become a hire-fire club...This will not create stability in the team.

Are the current crop that bad or we are not playing to their strengths or they are just fooling us with their fishy brand of soccer. ???...Sometimes our players egos are also inflated...Sterling, SG, Balo, Sturridge...Last season's achievements is a history. We do not know what's best except FSG perhaps.

No amount of past achievements our predecessors earned can guide our future...except the current gen of players and the future ones we acquire and groom...Not sure if the fans at anfield will still be as supportive as before...We need FSG to really think hard how to steer this leaking ship and receive trophies on the podium again.

i no longer subscribe to playing well and losing is ok. i enjoy watching Evan's team, but i enjoy Houllier and Rafa trophies more.

    38 1-0s, 20% possession, i will be happy.

Lets be nasty before trying to be beautiful.

Pool players do not have winning mentality, its obvious. our manager talks of a winning mentality but is unable to motivate the players, blames everyone but absolve himself of any blame.

When the best man for the job was appointed, I was apprehensive rather than supportive. I remembered the first word I used here on him was naive. I felt his idea was good but naive, with his what death by football philosophy. Because to me, when the team hold possession of the ball, they must do something about it, not just to prevent opponent from having the ball and thereby cannot have the chance to attack because I know that some teams can just score a goal even with just one single attack and 5, 10% of possession. Sometimes teams can just get corners and free kicks and score from there. They don't need to have much possession at all. So the best man for the job's thinking is too naive. He has been badly influenced by the way Spanish team like Barcelona and national team played. And you need very good players who are very comfortable with the ball to do that. Idea is good but not practical.

I always subscribe to what bill shankly said. Football is a simple game based giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and making yourself available to receive a pass. And of course bob paisley, if you're in the penalty area and you don't know what to do with it, put the ball into the net and we'll discuss the options later.

When the team is able to do those above, then we can talk about tactics.

Liverpool started to have success in Europe is because they started to incorporate patience into their play. They always pass around the back and midfield and seem like not doing anything threatening and then suddenly players like heighway or Neal or Kennedy at fullback will do running off the ball unmarked on the flank and create a cross for on coming players in and outside the box to score. Sometimes passing is more effective than keep on dribbling to penetrate the defence. That's the liverpool I know.

Liverpool don't play with wingers at all. John Barnes was technically the first real winger liverpool ever have. The liverpool players I know are all very good at passing and running off the ball and have decent crossing ability. And they always create chance for strikers through open play. That's why traditionally liverpool corners are always not that good because I think they don't practice set piece at all.

The best man for the job is not good enough to be the liverpool manager. Liverpool managers don't talk so much nonsense. This point alone is good enough to get him sack. No need to go and think how good he is and how good he will be in future and how well the team did last season.

    Fox news:Rodgers eyes marquee signings

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat by Hull, which put a huge dent in their Champions League ambitions this season, Rodgers conceded that his current squad needed considerable reinforcements.

A place in the Europa League is also far from assured, underlining why Rodgers is under pressure after a season when they have not been able to cope with the sale of Luis Suarez and injuries to Daniel Sturridge.

"You can't hide the fact we've lost over 50 goals," said Rodgers. "Even with those players we weren't tipped to get in the top four and we haven't got those players now. We have to work with what we've got.

"Now we have to look to improve the squad and it's always great if you can get marquee players to come in and help you. The owners will support that.

"Everyday you come into work at Liverpool you are working for your future."

Rodgers will be heading into his fourth season at Anfield in August, a tenure that has so far yielded seventh and second-place finishes.

And the Northern Irishman says after the heights of last season, this term was always going to be tough.

"We want to be in the top four, but that was always going to be difficult because we were playing catch up for a lot of the season.

"We lost a couple of big games which dented our confidence a bit. I need to build a team that can get through the rough waters as well. We need a team that can get through the smooth and the rough.

"That will be my challenge - to rebuild a group that can get through the rough waters."

    Better reading from thisisanfield.com:

With pressure mounting on Brendan Rodgers follow the failure to even score against let alone beat two relegation threatened sides in the Reds last two games, a German football expert has said Jurgen Klopp would find it difficult to turn down the Liverpool managers job.

With Rodgers having failed to deliver on all three of Liverpools targets this season a place in the top four, a trophy, and progress to Champions League knockout stages FSG will review his position at the end of the season.

t was understood he wanted to move to an established Champions League club, says Honigstein in an interview on talkSPORT.

Hes also realistic enough to know that there arent that many likely offers from top four clubs coming in.

At the same time, in so far as a emotional connection, and an ideal fit, Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool is the closest resemblance you can find.

The fans are a huge part of the club, they also sing youll never walk alone. Theres a special kind of atmosphere in the city.

It would be very hard for Jurgen Klopp to turn Liverpool down.

Liverpool have won just one Premier League game since Rodgers claimed his side could finish second last month, instead theyre now scrapping with Tottenham and Southampton to finish fifth.

A similar poll conducted by thisisanfield.com (Should FSG stick with BR) show almost identical resulys to the one from mirroronline, 63% say Sack him and 37% keep him.

But in this thread, I would say >90% is in favour of the sack

Speaking of touch, sterling is very poor at dribbling past defenders. I tink he made abt 3 tries, n all failed to get past a defender. Even emre can dribble better.

Really painful to watch sterling nowadays. Knowing that hes asking for more money, yet performing at half the value at best. He should let his feet do the talking.
Benteke is on fire. Pool sure will try n sign him...since he already scored against them.
