I only did the undercarriage coating at $290. Was quoted 4 doors and roof for $1150. Both add up should be $1440. Not sure if I were quoted correctly.

I asked the same question and I was shown some foam/fiber type material for the $1150 soundproofing. SE said the quote I got was for the aluminium type material.

BenTong - undercarriage was $290, 4 doors $680, roof $60, all before GST. Includes anti-rust.

Are your considering soundproofing for PFL or FL ?

I am more interested to find out if the same coating is also able to insulate some heat from engine compartment.

I have previously posted how my batt went flat after 5 days of non-usage. Today I went to MI and here's the outcome:

    1. I left the car there. Collected at the end of the day. Was told that they did a test and the battery is ok. They charged it up and then can collect car. Showed me battery test slip shows that batt is ok.

    2. I asked the service guy: so cannot leave the car for 5 days not used?

    3. Service guy: sir, we recommend 2 days must start. Sometimes the battery is old.

    3. Me: Is that the official Subaru or MI statement? I need to know so that I can see how long a holiday I can go on. I collected my new car in early May 2016.

4.Service guy: I will check with technical and call you.

    5. Me: Don't call me, email me. I know that you may not have the answer, can you give me the email of the guy that has the answer?

    6.Service guy: I will check.

    7. Me: Here's my email.

So now I wait for email to come. Will keep you guys posted.

Won'tthe opportunity costof not being able to use the car (by leaving it at MI for 5 days)outweigh the cost of a new battery?

That said, your car is so new, I would be pissed off if I have to buy a new battery just to prove that the problem lies with the battery...

Hope you find out what's the cause of the problem and resolve it soon.

True. Could be a problem with the in-car camera's auto cut-off cable running to your fuse box, assuming you have one installed. Even if the cable installed correctly, cameras such as iRoad V9 allow you to specify auto cut-off voltage, which could be set wrongly.

Thanks for the tip - no, I do no t have any in-camera onboard except for the reverse parking camera.

There is some free leather cleaning that came with the car purchase. There is a warranty by them so I assume our cars came in naked and this company upholstered them. Anyone going for it....I am probably ignoring it if nothing great comes out of it.

Edit : Am also curious which parts are leather which are pseudo leather/pvc. I definitely dont expect it to be full leather. Anyone knows...

I asked the question and was told the "facing panels" ie, those that touch your body are genuine leather.

So basically those against your bum and your back + the headrest are leather. The rear of the seats and side panels etc are all PVC...

Hahah, though so, thanks. And a good reason for me not to soundproof the roof.

So, your aluminium panels cost more than the foam insulation then. Means better, I assume.

After 3500+ KM, I kinda realise there are a few issues:

    1) Steering wheel badly aligned to left when driving down the straight road. I have driven many cars, some family, own, company rental and during overseas attachment. The only car with worst alignment is SAF land rover or 3 tonner.. that speak a lot about a brand new car... anyone else have this issue?

    2) Morning start driving off, with squeaky sound at the brake like a 10 year old car... It goes away fairly quickly but why will a new car have this issue?

Any bro experience the same issue?

Mine has this steering wheel misalignment to the left too. I did bring this up during my 1st servicing but its still not 100% fixed. It will still veer to the left but not as bad as before. Will haf to bring this up again on my 5000km service.

Read somewhere in the earlier post that this is a common issue.

The steering wheel tend to left is a simple fix. Ask your sa to do awd wheel alignment. They will give u a report to show the alignment correction. Problem solved.

Got a question about stopping on a downslope.

Just now was at Parkway Parade exiting. Those familiar will know that the exit gantry is on a downslope. The gantry systen could not detect my card, and after adjusting card still couldnt read so I thought to reverse back and go forward again.

I was wondering if I needed to pull the handbrake, engage R, press accelerator a bit and release handbrake to make this move. Which is what I would do in a manual car, which I was used to. For the FXT do I need to do this ? Or just put foot on brake, engage R, release foot from brake and press accelerator? Is there a hill assist for reverse or is there sufficient torque to prevent me from rolling down forward and hitting the gantry when I shift my right foot from brake to accelerator?

By the way the system read my card before I tried to reverse but it got me thinking....

This is wat i normally do for down slop at car park gantry: Hold on to foot brake, engage reverse gear. Even if u let go foot brake there is hill assist which will hold for u for 2 secs before car starts rolling back. After the 2 secs, just let go foot brake gradually to reverse till hand can reach the gantry to insert cash card. Only difference with my previous auto car is fxt got hill assist.

Thanks, I assume what you meant was "before car starts rolling FORWARDS" for this scenario. In short there is hill assist also for downslope when reverse gear is engaged.

for normal auto car, I would put left foot on brake while in R, apply light pressure on accelerator using right foot before releasing left foot brake.

btw some CVTSJ FXT overseas owners have reported insufficient torque when trying to reverse steep upslope/over a kerb. Umay need to rev it quite a bit to go.

Agreed, shell helix ultra is so much inferior than the default EO. Subaru makes good car, unfortunately MI didn't capitalized on its engineering merits and safety features but gives us shoddy servicing and restrictive warrenty.

1 mth into FXT ownership. Got 2 questions on the solar film done by MI:

    1) just saw what looks like a small air bubble on the inside. Is this the norm to have such imperfections?...I mean it is a big piece of film, unavoidable? Its livable with it, but sometimes I notice it, like eye floaters.

    2) if next time more bubbles appear and I want to upgrade to a better film, does the IU and dashcam have to be removed? It looks like they have to to me..Is a replacement sticky pad or something needed for them...dont even know if there are replacements..

Is it just one bubble and how big is it? mine also has a few but very small and at the corner so hardly noticeable. windscreen film is the hardest to get it perfect becos it's huge and curvy. If you replace it, u may end up with bubble(s) else where... And windscreen gets dirty really fast

Yes, both need to remove. Dashcam should be using 3M doublesided tape. For IU, I recall it's a translucent gluey material which is surprisingly strong and reusable if LTA hasn't changed what they use. For my previous car, the IU fell off and I just stuck it back. Anyway, the window film installer will take care of these when they change the film so no need to worry

Question about road tax disc, do we actually need to display it after renewing it?

Agreed. So far, the best I have gotten is about 12+km/L. Travelled mostly highway and clocked about 600km. Empty petrol tank indicator light hasn't even lit up... Corresponded with car dashboard meter's average FC reading of about 8L/100km

Question about road tax disc, do we actually need to display it after renewing it?

Yes but I haven't heard of anyone who got into trouble not displaying it...

Btw, you are not the anyone who's wondering why we still need to display it when the authorities can easily verify it online

I never display it but kept it in my glove compartment... prefers my windshield clean (even removed that stupid motorimage service reminder sticker).

Once i got into a roadblock at night, and police asking 'wheres my road tax disc', i told him its in the glove compartment and he said 'ok nevermind' and let me go without seeing it.

May notbenecessary to display in SG but I think it would make things more convenient (i.e. faster check) if kena road block.

if driving to Msia, better to display/bring along, as I have been asked for it more than once. Esp during the time when they were doing crackdown on cloned cars.

I don't know what the Msia authorities would do if a SG car can't produce the road tax disc but i'm sure they won't simply wave you on. They are used to seeing a physical road tax paper. Better bring for convenience rather than give them an excuse to delay your journey.

Yup the reported fc is indeed conservative. I'm doing about 8.6 to 9L per 100km with mixed driving. As Long as dun keep wacking turbo the fc is pretty good. In fact it's better a lot of 2-2.4L na jap or Korean sedans.

Quite ok actually. I got around 550 with 50L but 60 hw 40 city on i mode. Fc was actually slight better around 11.6km/L before 1k servicing. At 1k servicing they will put a heavier oil shell helix ultra 5w40 and this probably caused my slight drop in fc.

Supposed to have in the existing face lift of fxt. Anyone can confirm? Not sure if Mi shirt change us on this. Lol... Anyway, handling seems to be pretty good when going around gradual to slightly curved bends. Even when there is body rolls, u can feel all 4 wheels superglued to the ground. Really confidence in motion. Tried quite a number of similar size cross overs and not many can match its handling prowess, except for x3 xdrive, and q3 Quattro (2L). The rest of the japs offerings dun even come close. Tiguan's handling surprising isn't that fantastic. But maybe coz its fwd? Hmm haven tried any of the Korean offerings coz they r quite ex ($130k or more) eg sorento, Tucson, sportage. Heard that the Korean ones are very good in handling too but too ex for me so didn't even bother to try.

Bronze will go nice with brown leather.. But i will stick to black as its easier to maintain and anyway, the leather is not top notch.. So down the road if u r tired of black can then change to other colours.. U can get better leather outside.. Just my 2cents worth..

Have you tried your FXT on a long drive on NSHW yet ?

Nah, i dun like to go msia these days. Doubt i will ever fully utilized all the horses in the fxt. Anyway, i bought it not mainly for the turbo engine, but rather more for the HK sound system, the strengthen front suspension and stronger brakes. Anyway, this car is not designed to be a fast sports car. Its more of a good hauler for the family, especially when car is fully loaded with passengers and stuff. The back seats got leg rear room which is useful for me since i'm installing 2 car seats. So even if they are both rear facing, i still get decent room for myself and my front passenger.

Hmm, with the tall height and big surface area, i'm not sure if it will perform well at high speeds (>150km/h) on the NSHW.
