I am not an expert...
But I would like to think that BR decides his formation on how to play from the back... he has chosen back 4 as a base... he always want an energetic midfield which I think JH is an automatic starter... the other CM will be either Can, Allen, SG, Lucas or Lallana. His playmaker can be deep (eg SG) or higher up in CAM position (Coutinho or Sterling)
That will decide whether we go 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Sometimes, he die die wan to strangle opponent midfield... he go for Diamond....
Both Can and Lallana can play alongside JH in a 4-3-3 or in a more advanced role in 4-2-3-1.
Can can play deep in SG role and Lallana can join front 3.
Can's arrival certainly allow Lucas to go on the transfer list.

I think Skrtel is a liability. His positioning is suspectable. I don't rate him really. He is a fighter yes but he is clumsy as well. Good thing his looks mask his clumsy ways especially when defending crosses. He is really a poor man's version of Vidic. With all that said, I think Liverpool bought well in Lovren. He is going to be the heart of the defence. Hope to see him partner Sakho in the next game.�

He couldn't make up enough ground when Cyle muscled his way into the box. He should have move in closer to GJ position when GJ was challenging Cyle but instead he chose to ball watch and position himself nearer to Lovren who is shadowing another player. For a central defender, that is a glaring mistake which should not have happened in the first place.�

As a CB, he should have a better overall view from below. And one of the best trait of a CB is positioning and decision making. No matter what instruction was passed to him from the manager, eventually he has to execute depending on the situation.

I think he wanted that so that he could move to RM, PSG�or Barca. Other BPL clubs had not given him that chance and I don't think he would want to waste this time round with a 2nd chance given to him at Pool.

The type of goals is not really important. If a player can score 31 headers also ok for me.

Not to mention I doubt MB will have anything near LS' assist rate. So not only he scores, he creates too.

But anyway, I guess have MB better than nothing. And he is pretty cheap (his discipline issues probably factored in) especially in today's market. Maybe 2 years later we can got 60M for him as he is still pretty young also.
