Wish won't be affected. This recall for Subaru not Toyota. The article said the recall will likely spread to US, Canada, Australia and European models. Wish Singapore not affected.
That advantage almost costs me $17K.Yes, you are right. I traded with them and i reckoned that will motivate them to speed up coz they will prob be pressurized by the car dealer coz of the monthly depreciation. And that was the main reason why i traded in w them coz it was based on a 1-to-1 exchange. I can wait but maybe they cannot. That's just what i think.
You trade in too? Ouch!!
I got my coe at third bid yesterday.Congrats on securing your COE on second bid NG. May I know if you have traded your old car with them? Somehow I feel that customer who traded in their car with MI will likely get their COE faster. But it does make sense if it's true.
I told my SE that I might not trade in with him.
Anyway, my car is scrap value. Few months left.
So the theory may not be true.
The difference for mine was only ~$3K but dependent when the car is ready to be traded in. So if i have to wait 2-3 mths for the new car, the final offered price may end up the same as MI.That advantage almost costs me $17K.

Think I saw a facelifted FXT coming in Hougang coming from Ubi. Thought MotorImage haven't started sales of the refreshed XT?
Think I saw a facelifted FXT coming in Hougang coming from Ubi. Thought MotorImage haven't started sales of the refreshed XT?
Sale for the FL model started a few months already but physical stocks only recently arrived. Can see more and more FL model on the roads
How was their offer? They offered just slightly higher than paper value for mine, a far cry from the price used car dealers are selling them for in sgcarmart. The difference is estimated at about 18k which I think is too much. 10k I think can still tahan. Sian....
Some of the used car prices quoted by dealers at sgcarmart are highly inaccurate so take them with a pinch of salt. They are inflated so that buyers can take a higher loan if necessary.
You should get a quote from an actual dealer and compare against what MI offers. It may not be that far off
The facelifted Foresters are already on the roads. Most of them collected their initial batch in March 2016. More will be on the roads in the coming months.Think I saw a facelifted FXT coming in Hougang coming from Ubi. Thought MotorImage haven't started sales of the refreshed XT?
Not really true in my case. I did not do the trade in of my car with MI because they only quoted me a value of $27k. SE advised me to sell outside. I managed to sell off the car myself at $34k within 2 weeks. And I got my COE within 2 bids.Congrats on securing your COE on second bid NG. May I know if you have traded your old car with them? Good one. Same same. Went around car browsing. Average trade in $X. Sold outside got another $15K. Went for $4K discount 8bid NG. Got it at 4th bid. In between take MRT, Bus, Taxi, CO car, cycle n walk.. save $19K, walk average 15,000 steps a day, lost 3kg.. Why not? And I did not choose a FXT!The facelifted Foresters are already on the roads. It takes a while to settle all the paperwork such as bank loan approval for your new ride if you are taking loan, existing loan settlement if you are trading in vehicle with outstanding loan, insurance rebate etc etc. Any maybe your SEis top seller now so manyclients waiting for him to settle.

But SE should be able to tell you fairly accurate the date of handling over your new ride as taking over new vehicle is a very important event. Let's face it. Car is the second most expensive thing that you probably buy. The first being the roof over our head.

For my recent experience, my timeline is as follows

Wed - COE pio-ed
Following Thurs -Was informed full settlement amount
Friday - Hand in final payment
Tues- Cheque cleared
Wed - Car registered
Thurs - Take over new vehicle

All in about 2 weeks from COE-pioed

Thanks! So you mean you handed in final payment 2 days after getting COE or 9 days after? I don't understand what you mean by "Following Thurs".

with recent few days heavy rain, for those who have already got your cars, can comment on the wet ability of the DUELER tyres?
seems to have quite mixed reviews of these online, especially for wet drivability....
Break loan contract? Or early full settlement? Or you not paying loan instalment?Anyone knows the penalty for breaking the UOB loan contract?
Early settlement- quite standard process rule of 72. Then see whether got any early settlement penalty in your Loan contract.
If you didn't pay, then be prepared for car to be towed away..

10 April 2016 - 07:37 PMBenTongHahahah. The bro who dislike.. Be a man la. Don't hide behind your skirt.. I was asking about the quality of the solar film from the Bros here.. Some say it's bad some say it's ok..
Like one bro here posted he is ok with it coz he Parked mainly in basements.
Edited by BenTong, 10 April 2016 - 07:39 PM.
10 April 2016 - 07:43 PMBenTongInteresting. Specs wise similar to the Low (not the lowest) end vkool, hyper optic packages.See the specs given by SE. So far, the quality of the material & workmanship is acceptable for me. No bubbles & clarity is good. Both my home & office are basement parking so can't comment much on heat rejection:-). Heat rejection while driving is acceptable for me as my air con always turn to around 20 degrees so don't feel hot even under hot sun. Of course, can't compare it with branded like Vkool etc.
iR rejection is ok if you don't drive in mid day sun.. Total solar rejection = mid range.
Not bad
Edited by BenTong, 10 April 2016 - 07:48 PM.
10 April 2016 - 11:18 PMrazor54Actually not too bad for me. Installed the top range solar film for the moonroof and really couldn't feel much difference from the rear passenger windows with direct sun shining in. So imo, still ok with the one from MI. Unless one always drive a lot during mid-day and is particular with sensitive skin, then maybe can opt to do the top grade outside.Interesting. I also usually park under shelter at home/work and drive mostly early morning or evening, so not much issue for me. If sometimes too hot, the aircon not bad quite strong. Haha...

Visible Light transmission, heat rejection and UV deflection.. Think UV deflection is the most important coz there's evidence to suggest exposure to UV could damage the skin pretty badly. As for visible light transmission well that's regulated. For IRR or heat rejection , like u say how often does one drive during midday without the air con on? With air con on 19C will you still feel the heat?
And yet the tint companies are charging a huge premium for heat rejection. Smart marketing..
Hmmmm...
I like the idea of putting the hiigjest specs for the moon roof.
Where did you get it done? and the damage?
Edited by BenTong, 10 April 2016 - 11:57 PM.
11 April 2016 - 12:03 AMBenTongBro, do agree it's not high. I was also thinking of opting out until bro here shared the specs.IR rejection is too low lah.
I had opt out the solar film and prepare to do outside.
The back is 66% while front is 55%. To get it to 80% will set you back another $500-$600 while to get to 90% coupe set you back by $1k.
Something to think about. Just on the air con to 20C.. Solve problem.. The $$$ saved could go into getting other poison.
11 April 2016 - 12:10 AMrazor54Got the moonroof solar film from Cool N Lite. At first they quoted me $100 because I told them it's for sunroof. When I reached, they said it's actually moonroof, which is double the size of a sunroof. So the price is $200 for the top range, which is the same as what I was quoted for 3M elsewhere.Cool bro.

Decided to get the top range for moonroof mainly because the kids love to see the sky during the drive and I guess only the best grade qualifies since the sun is directly from the top shining down on them. And it really defeats the purpose of having a nice big moonroof if I keep them shuttered all the time.
So if yours is the smaller panel type of sunroof, might be able to get it for $100.
Made an appointment, went to the branch at Ubi to install. They have a nice lounge area above to relax and you can also view the installation process. In and out within 30 mins, as it's only one piece film to apply.

I am also surprised by the way they up the pricing of the FXT.
My cousin got his FXT when COE was $77k and he paid abt $140k. Now COE abt $47k and the price Of FXT is $125k. COE difference of $30k, car price difference of only $15k. Some more when he bought it, he got front and rear Blackvue camera, 5 years free servicing. By the way OMV of his car is $17k+.
Now only free 3 servicing (1k, 5k, 10k) not sure abt freebies.
Even if the current face lifted model may have higher OMV, higher Yen exchange rate, but price difference shouldn't be just a mere $15k cheaper.

Pity the AD is a shark, else it is quite good value. Was introduced by colleague to check it out - for reference, it was priced abt $125K when COE was ard $61K.
11 April 2016 - 10:29 PMAbdulwzThe advantage of the X-Trail is that it is at the beginning of its lifespan (current model) while the Forester will be replaced within the next 2.5yrs. And I found the interior of the X-Trail at leasta grade superior with a more solid feel to itandhaving more comfortable seatsthan the Forester. If the drive and power are main considerations, Forester wins hands down.

12 April 2016 - 12:12 AMrazor54The price and specs of the VKool UV40 is exactly the same as the Titan series from Cool N Lite. If you are getting a package from VKool and is able to secure a discount as a package, it'll be good if it's all budgeted for your solar film project.Just called VKool to check..they are also charging $200 for the moonroof (UV40 - top range)..have to reconfirn if there is a need to get their standard UV40 package. Most of the top series from the major brands are more or less similar. Just go with what you have experience with or comfortable paying the price for... Stay cool on the roads whatever your choice (no pun intended)!
