I booked my FNA at end of Apr and got my COE first bid after I booked, which is $51010. My NG discount is only $1000, hence it should be 6 bid NG instead of 8 bid.But I think no difference between 6 and 8 bids NG, MI will firm your COE in first two bids.

Thanks! Enjoy your new ride !
Wow thats 10k off what I got..thats the FNA price now. Such is buying cars...like stock market.
Thats 25k of what I've got but I got 5 years free servicing. Guess that's the only consolation.

If I had known that the S$500 fee to change the leather colour (from dark grey) actually included an upgrade to the quality of the leather, plus longer warranty (standard warranty from MI's leather vendor, Leather Etc Pte Ltd, is 1 year), I'd have definitely considered it for my 2016 Legacy. Cuz for just a colour change, $500 seemed like a splurge. CO would have killed me. But leather quality upgrade + long warranty are easy to justify.
I also didnt know but thinking deeper: 1) quality of leather wont make palpable improvement in comfort. 2) leather warranty is to cover mainly premature wear. But in fact if dont take care, whether better or worse quality, will still crack and decolour especially for high abrasion areas. Its ppl lack of maintenance rather than lack of quality that makes leather crack and wear off.
Id rather pocket the $500.
Only "benefit" I see is able to see dirt easier on non-black and serve as indicator for cleaning.

Thanks, you've actually made me feel better about not upgrading (or even knowing we can upgrade). You definitely have a point. But it also might be true that, all things remaining equal (you clean and condition regularly), better quality leather may look nice, stay supple, and resist cracking and abrasion, for longer than the standard leather. I guess we'll find out in a few years.I also didnt know but thinking deeper: 1) quality of leather wont make palpable improvement in comfort. I wonder though. Standard MI leather from Leather Etc Pte Ltd comes with 4 free leather conditioning sessions, in addition to the 1 year warranty. So how many sessions come with the 4-year warranty? Care to share, SJGDKK8?

03 June 2016 - 07:05 AMRachdanomJust curious, what would happen if after all bids on Non-G COE still cannot get. Will they renegotiate the price?this happen to my friend who bought a KIA K3 from C&C.
1. he signed up for 4bid NG.
2. during last bid on 18/5/16(2nd bid). About 3:30pm the SE called my friend asking him wanna top up $2K for guarantee COE?
3. my friend told the SE nevermind, if never get never mind just wait for 3rd and 4th bid.
4. after the COE result. the SE text my friend said that his COE is secured at $47,020 Cat A.
5. he is collecting the car next week.
So I think is on case to case. still confuse about the tactic of the SE on 4bid NG, 6 bid NG and 8bid NG!!
may be if buyer never nego and pay the listed price, then can get car on the following week. hahaha

Many other brands that offer nav built into their HUs rely on locally supplied-and-fitted HUs (Eurostyle in the case of Kia, and another OEM vendor that supplies both Hyundai and Nissan, if I remember right) that aren't the same as the stock HUs in overseas models. Why? To keep OMV low. So, you end up with a China-made HU that gets the job done and provides nav, but doesn't always have the best UI/UX or performance.

In contrast, the HU in the FXT, Outback and Legacy are the stock Japanese HUs, minus Eyesight and Starlink. Made in Japan, but shipped to Singapore separately from our cars, then installed locally. The result is lower OMV without sacrificing the "real" stock HU. I assume that adding SG navigation would require cost and effort in Japan by Subaru HU vendor Fujitsu Ten - cost and effort that's probably higher than with China-made OEM units, and therefore too much for MI.

So, you win some, you lose some. Up to you what's more important. FWIW, I appreciate the Japanese-made HU, which has great UI/UX, and rock-solid Siri Eyes Free and Subaru Voice Command integration. YMMV.

Of course, the ideal solution would be for Subaru to use the new Impreza HUs that have Carplay and Android Auto built in, but that probably won't happen until a model face-lift or refresh.

Stripped down compared to JDM. just like my Legacy 4th gen, JDM version already with Eyesight, traction control and keyless start, plus Bilstein suspension. Tuned with STI there means Brembo brake and STI rims plus other STI goodies, not like over here, just tune your engine map and nothing else.

so for current Forester, JDM XT default with Eyesight 3 will give you all the associated safety features like auto-braking, plus auto high-beam, blindspot detection, rear traffic detection when reversion out of parking lot, etc.

I hear you. Obviously, I'd like Eyesight and nav too. The full Starlink works, plus apps, would be even nicer. Let's not even get started on the 3.6l flat six engine option. Eyesight and auto-braking could save lives.

I thought you meant stripped down compared to other comparable offerings in the Singapore market, which was curious. But if you mean stripped down compared to JDM, that's the case with practically every Japanese make sold here, right?

Again, it comes down to the ARF tax regime pegged to OMV. I get your point that Eyesight wouldn't inflate OMV by as much as some other options out there. But it would still make a considerable difference to dealer margins and, therefore, selling price. ARF above $20k is 140%, after all, so your hypothetical $3k increase in OMV would translate to $4.2k in ARF. OMV is actually already creeping up for many Subaru models. When the 6th-gen Legacy was launched last year, OMV was something like $18k. It's now almost $22k, thanks in part to 2016 improvements like BSD and Siri Eyes Free. Add Eyesight and the price might not be the bargain it currently is vs Sonata, K5, Accord and Camry.

Thanks for the heads up! If true, that would be pretty cool. But the picture looks like the current Legacy/Outback HU leh. Maybe the 2016 face-lift just upgrades the HU to the Legacy/Outback one. Anyone know for sure?

Maybe the Outback's a more direct competitor for those two? Yes, 2.5 NA vs 2.0 NA, but part of the appeal of the Outback (road tax aside) is you get 2.5 NA for the price of 2.0 NA. Outback got moonroof, rear aircon, rear parking cam, and iirc should have BSD too for the latest model. But of course 360 cam is even better lah, and there's no nav at all, let alone sat nav. And if you bring the FXT into the picture, the FXT's engine makes up for everything else.

Sat Nav? I think they thought about it and designed in the mirrorlink to allow for the navigation feature (for folks who use mobile nav apps)... 03 June 2016 - 05:37 PMwongexcelJust come back fr Malaysia. Found out that to get good FC, need to drive between 90~110 (can get 13km/L). In Singapore, i drive 80% city, only get 8km/L.Another update on xt fc. After 570km on mix traffic, I still have 1/4 tank left. The trip computer indicated another 140km to go before empty tank. So far the trip computer seems pretty accurate. Getting 11km/L is quite eat on this car unless u do like 70% or more city driving.
03 June 2016 - 05:53 PMMQX87511Existing FXT owners, are the tires fat enough to avoid grazing the rims against kerb (kerb rash)? My wife is a new driver and parallel parking is poor...:-p
I am alsopoor parallel parking skill, although I have driven 15 years
03 June 2016 - 06:02 PMJohnSHLWhat u need it for? I actually see not much use and fear it may a liability after reading about leaking sun roofs (all cars) and added maintenance it needs.
Ppl say to cool car faster during a hot day thats about it.

same - I have no desire for sunroof. To me, it just adds weight on top (worsens CG) and more parts to fail/leak.

In fact I bought my current Subaru because it doesn't come with sunroof, unlike the MI units.

to cool the car down after parking in the sun, I just open the windows abt 2cm or so when starting to drive off.
03 June 2016 - 06:02 PMLittle_princeI am also poor parallel parking skill, although I have driven 15 years
Hahaha. Next car need to buy auto parking function.
Even the Koreans models like sorento has it now.
Maybe the next forester and outback would have in a few yrs time
03 June 2016 - 06:12 PMmrhan1982It's a mixed of roughly 60% hw and 40% city. Using esso 8000. Going for 2nd tank tonight. Did 630 and fuel light came on with 100km left on trip computer. That is fantastic mileage, you must be doing 90% highway. BTW what petrol are you using?
03 June 2016 - 06:28 PMmrhan1982Only thing lacking in my forester xt I feel is the gps. So I head over to pcshow and got a morbella n53 5 inch gps for $129. Problem solved.
Starling is not bad. It connects to Siri for my iphone. It's good for hands free calling, playing a certain song in your music library, etc. But of course it is not a full integration like car play. Alternatively, Subaru's voice recognition is not bad too. Can use voice to tune radio, make calls, etc.
I can't get starlink to read my msg from iphone. Any bro manage to get this to work? It always say need to set up then ask me choose device then still cannot.
Regarding the lack of other passive safety features like blind spot monitoring, auto parking, etc. I feel I dun need them. I used to have blind spot monitoring and I find it quite irritating when then side mirror flashes whenever a car is at my sides. I end up looking at the sides for no reason.... I also dun need auto parking. I can park fairly well, parallel too. It's actually quite easy to parallel park forester. I did it with 1 go for first attempt. It's not a very wide car so I have no problems with mall carparks or any multi storey carparks.

To get the HU to read your messages, go to your iPhone Settings, then Bluetooth, then tap the "i" next to your car's Bluetooth profile, then turn on "Show Notifications". That's it.
03 June 2016 - 10:43 PMTohtoNearly every other brand including volve XC60, Renault kadjar or Q5 their cheaper version don't come with huge moon roof, actually none. If I was in a sedan it don't matter... But in a SUV the sunroof is a must for me. My initial choice was FNA instead of FXT so to me it was kinda my rational of buying forester.
Actually it is true, Subaru cars have less intelligent gadgets... When I tried Xtrail I was pretty impressed with the 360 parking view and self tilted mirror etc... But some folk like me dun really find a need for them... Maybe so...
I don't even use the reverse camera screen for parking..
Purely using the 2 side mirror and the reverse sensor sound.
03 June 2016 - 11:03 PMLittle_prince#HappyWifeHappyLifeComplete requirement by getting a seperate standalone 7" GPS...
Outback vs Forester.. same price, higher OMV.. smaller sunroof, higher back passenger drivetrain tunnel at the back.. no turbo.. slightly higher road tax.. better finishing, bigger boot.. better insulation.
U can only decide for yourself.. ask your wife test drive also

Please advise how to join FB and whatsapp group, just get my forester too...

I had ask the same question
Demo cars would be sold off cheaper
Which is why u see the display list at counter of demo cars will list engine/chassis number together with discount price
Oohh twin scroll more refined... Didn't noticed.. Was enjoying the panoramic driver viewHi Bro,

You mean there is a demo car list at the counter ?
I will like to check this also.

When I booked my XT last week, SE told me it was the last unit available. So I don't know if my car is the demo unit or not.
We can based on the mileage during car collection but no one can guarantee that the odometer was not tempered before.
Unless we can counter check against the demo car engine / chasis number.

I dun think any authorized agent will go that low to sell their car.

Hi
Yes there was a list of demo cars, discount range from $1000 to $3000 I think. But when new rules announced, those demos were sold out very fast...
There were chasis or engine number on the list.
Don't worry, AD won't do such tricks. But smaller PI may given they have limited stock.
Furthermore, if they pass off demo as new, a any defects found eg scratches it will give them more trouble.
And lastly, most of the demo cars were 2015 models... On ur purchase agreement its stated to be 2016 mfg carsHi Bro,

Probably the SE means "Last Unit" in the existing stock... not demo unit. I don't think MI will pull this kind of stunt.. LOL

Test Drive/Showroom units will come with around 3k discounts and they seem to sell out fast.
05 June 2016 - 09:16 AMFriendstarAgree.
Thats the reason why u buy from AD. Peace of mind.
I'm very confident most or all ADs won't sell a demo car as new. Thats lying and make them susceptible to legal issues. Plus their reputation.
05 June 2016 - 09:47 AMwheelogistDemo car and show room car are different. Demo car is used for test drive while show room car is for display only. Better to buy show room car than demo car, but then discount amount is lower for show room car.Agree.

05 June 2016 - 10:24 AMDarkDemo car should be able to tell from mileage? AD will not go so low and adjust mileage?

Show room car kana molest only should be acceptable if discount is significant.

05 June 2016 - 11:18 AMSwakuCollected my ride yesterday on a light drizzle day. Saw many cars, especially Forester ready for collection, MI is really doing well. My SE already pre check my car for defects and took an hour plus to go through the car features with me while my CO checked the check interior and exterior with her eagle eyes. All swee swee and I left MI with the new car 2 hours.
I noticed a few SE going through the car features very quickly with their customer, all done in less than 30 mins. Glad that my SE really took the time to slowly show me the various features of the car which is quite a lot. This is my third ride and he's the most detailed so far.
