    I disagree.
We wouldnt have lost if Balo didnt come on.
Passed the ball to opponent causing Lucas to foul.
Lost Ivanovic and let him have a free header.
Sigh.... we could have drew but still that's not enough.
I blame Brendan for bringing Balo on.
If i'm him, i'll only bring him on as a sub only if we are leading by 2 goals.

What you expect when u leave him out on the cold for so long and suddenly play him in big match.

yup...mentioned abt this b4. They seem to b not able to spot that opening or opportunity to release the ball at the right time. Sterling also guilty of this many times. Very wasteful esp in a tight game.

I am more excited about the prospect for the 3 black front. Ibe, sterling and Sturridge. It's fantastic.
  • 02 February 2015 - 02:39 PM
    Atrecord

Long time no comment on the team's performance here.

Looks like the team has indeed shown an improvement in its approach and play, and not merely a flash in the pan. I hope...

At least now it's more attractive watching them play, with the 3 creative guys in sterling, coutinho and lallana constantly trying hard to find some holes in oppositions. This is in sharp contrast to 4 mth ago when the only thing i remember in every (highly forgettable) game was how left-mid would pass to left-back, who will attract henderson or gerrard running towards him and the left-back will pass the ball to either one of them, who promptly pass to left CB, who will pass to right CB, then go the same route reverse on the other side to right-mid, then instant reply come back this side, then repeat and repeat chalking up v high % of possession and defeats after defeats in the process.

But i'm not sure did West Ham make us look good, or were we really to peck them back on merit and performance. In any case, if we are able to do this to all opponents (even if they automatically play badly against us, like Arsenal recently), then it's good for us.

Coutinho is good running with the ball, but if his shooting accuracy improves, then he will be a serious attacking threat. At the moment, i think noone can shoot from outside the box. Dunno whether Emre Can can or not? But last time i know Alonso, Agger and Gerrard can...

The other thing is dead ball. While Henderson is taking responsibility for many things in SG's absence or easing out i think apart from his energy, he is unfortunately still no where near for things like leadership, tackling, reading, shooting, and dead ball (when SG was at Hendo's age). Now all the dead balls i think are mostly going to waste, as noone in the team can bend a ball well, place it accurately where you want, or has the desired power With our tricky trio attacking lots of fouls, it would be a waste if we cannot find a deadly dead-ball-specialist like last time McAllister, Gerrard or Suarez last season...

Defense is building confidence, but it looks like Lovren is wasted. Also, wonder whether Emre Can is meant for bigger role than being a CB, and curious also why he was even moved to centre. Being versatile could be a disadvantage at times, just think of SG in his younger days where he was right-back, right-mid, left-mid, attacking-mid, defensive-mid, no. 10, etc

Mignolet hopefully can get back his form and confidence, and improves on his original shortcomings. The only good problem that might result if it happens, is whether we should still pursue a top goalie at end of season...

And of course got the Mgr. Wonder whether he's just lucky that there seems to be marked improvement in results, or he planned it all along, in which case why did he persist in what is so obviously not working, for so long? Now we have no UCL, and have a mountain to climb to end the season somewhere respectable...

oh, i also watched arsenal vs AV last night, hoping gunners will slip...

    but was of course disappointed.

Strangely AV looked quite like Pool of 4 mth ago, when the team did not feel like scoring no matter how long any match will stretch...

glad we're (hopefully) over it for good...

than in front of the back four.

    :D

To me Allen's strength lies in pressing and harassing and keeps the ball moving, "carry the ball", run into space. Gerrard plays on instinct. He doesnt have the tactical nous. He doesnt see the whole situation. So I am quite sure Gerrard does not have the potential to be a good manager.

I dont think Liverpool will sign a monster midfielder, because it will cost lots of $$$$$. More like Emre Can will be the one, faster, better, cheaper [laugh]And I would add, younger too.

I will still keep Lucas, because we need 4 central midfielders in Lucas, Can, Allen and Henderson. The other 4 attacking midfielders will be Sterling, Lallana, Markovic, Coutinho and 3 strikers in Sturridge, Origi and xxxxx.

They are Liverpool supporters liao, if not I will disown them [laugh]though they are too young to understand football.

I can understand. We are hands on parent so we have to make sacrifice and have good time management. Our parents are too old to help out so we didnt trouble them.

Tactical skills can learn. Can employ coaches to assist.
Man-management skills, motivational skills and charisma more or less cant.
Did someone mention before that Gerrard was the one who gave the half-time talk in Instanbul?
    That says it all.

I think that someone is cisse?

Tactical skills can learn but don't know how to apply at the right time also useless. Coaches and assistants do not make the final decisions.

Of course I am not saying Lucas will make a better manager than Gerrard just because he can see the situation on he pitch. I think in the end it really depends on Gerrard or any potential managers whether they can learn and able to apply on the pitch, and the experience gained.

SG always wants to go forwards and forgets

his denfensive duties and Allen is not the best

tackler in the world although he does try hard.

He is better in the middle of the park rather

than in front of the back four.

    :D

Allen is a ball recycler, like a low end version of carrick.

He also doesn't pose a goal threat the way he plays so though his ideal position is middle of the park, he doesn't drive forward that well.

Unfortunately he has no natural physique to do the other things required in a defensive midfielder.

Lucas also don't have the physical to play DM mah. But brain can do wonder one. Main thing is don't over commit until whole team is compromise.

Lucas is not tall. But he's quite stout.

Haha allen is a sort of a one trick pony... but his trick is just ball recycling lol.

Anyway this link shows Cristiano ronaldo playing a bit of ball with a kid on the streets of madrid.

Actually now sterling also can see more stout liao.

Lucas start out quite skinny but he put a lot of weight. And that's when we start seeing him perform better
  • 06 February 2015 - 11:34 AM
    Shorty

allen is totally lost in this current team setup. he cant do anything useful. n till now i still don understand wat ball recycler means. if it means wat i tink it is, lucas can also do that. n lucas can tackle very well, which allen cant. so in no way will allen b able to replace lucas.

Lovely stuff and very emotional ," quotes "I could hear You'll Never Walk Alone in the distance, and as I exited the tunnel it grew louder. It wasn't the usual version of our anthem, though."unquote from carra

From RB Quotes"'We have nothing to lose,' I said. 'If we can relax, we can get a goal. And if we get the first goal, we can come back into the game. We have to fight. We owe something to the supporters. Don't let your heads drop. We are Liverpool. You are playing for Liverpool. Don't forget that. You have to hold your heads high for the supporters. You cannot call yourselves Liverpool players with your heads down. We have worked so hard to be here, beaten so many good teams. Fight for forty-five minutes. If we score, we are in it. If you believe we can do it, we can do it." unquote

It's really depend. For example,Lucas if u watch slow motion replay he is always the first one to react to lose ball.

And I am pretty sure sumo wrestler are faster to react then anyone of us here.

I was at my mother in law house when I watch the match. Very pissed at half time and had to take a couple of cig to relieve my frustrations. Btw I am not a regular smoker. After the match I didn't sleep at all and go down to have breakfast. Whole day I just wear my Liverpool jersey going out. No hint of sleepiness at all because my adrenalin is still pumping.
