Honda Vezel part 39

I am interested to get vezel wondering which PI should I approach? Also, which PI offers MBM wheelpower as their workshop for maintenance? Heard from my colleague who test drove the Vezel. He commented the car roll over effect is great....so, wondering what could be the issue with Vezel? A worthy ride or just a SUV built that has higher CG that causes the roll over effect? Anyone k explain that? Tks!

Bro, is your friend driving a sedan previously hence the comments? I compare it to crv, the roll over is about similar though body weight a huge difference. Vezel is 5cm lower though.

Does anyone knows if leng kee has any test drive for vezel? Or only at Ubi?

It was advertised by Cartimes that they allow test drive.
Went down there and found out that in order to test drive must put in the $10k booking cheque first.
But the SE claimed he will tear the cheque if I find the ride unsatisfactory.
Well I will not gamble on it.

    Bro, great write-out [thumbsup]

    1) By just pairing using Bluetooth, you can pick up/drop calls and also play music via Bluetooth streaming. This is default.

    2) If you link your phone via a MHL adaptor or miniport to HDMI adaptor, you can project whatever on your phone to the HU like a monitor. There is no control at all from the HU to your phone.

3)If you link your phone via a MHL adaptor or miniport to HDMI adaptor and used Pioneer's AppRadio app, you can use whatever apps thats supported by AppRadio. Pretty limited, but still usable.

4)If you link your phone via a MHL adaptor or miniport to HDMI adaptor and used ARU unchained, you attain full control of your phone via the HU and can launch any app in your phone, not limited to those supported by AppRadio. In my terms, god mode.

To reach god mode, you must:

    a) Root your phone. I used chainfire's autoroot kit. Be warned that if your bootloader is in locked state, rooting will wipe all your user data.

    b) Set SELinux to permissive. Thats an app in playstore that does that for u.

    c) Grant superuser access to ARU unchained when prompted.

    d) Hook up and pair Bluetooth with HU.

    e) Calibrate touchscreen

    f) You are now in GOD MODE.

If you can't get past step (a) because of potential phone warranty issues, then too bad. Your next best option is to reach step 3 and hope Pioneer add more apps to AppRadio. Or buy an Alpine HU instead. I read from somewhere in MCF, the lao jiao will say, if you want functionality, get a Pioneer. If you want sound quality, get an Alpine. Very good advice. [thumbsup]

this was my experience too...very sneaky at Cartimes.

despite the repeated follow up by the Sales that they are Casetrust and etc, I bluntly told him, the organization is the last on my list to book a PI car. Certification is only as good as the experience we received while at the Organisation.

Hi, my first major mod was to address the bumpiness of the Vezel Hybrid Z. As the higher spec-ed Vezel comes with the Enkei stock rims and 215/55/17, a common complain of mine was the stiffness of the Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 tyres. Also, I felt that these tyres weren't as fuel efficient as compared to the latest generation of tyres in the market (Sport Maxx 050 tread has been in the market since last decade) with fuel saving compound and tread design, I decided to change to one of the market's best performing tyre, the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance.

    attachicon.gifGoodyear EfficientGrip tyres (2).jpg

These tyres are made in Europe (Slovakia) and available in a few selected tyre shops. Do not mistake these for the old Goodyear EfficientGrips. These are way better than the previous generation. One of the most important factor in determining the tyres was the EU Tyre Label ratings:

    attachicon.gifEU_Tyre_Label_B_A_2_69.jpg

It scored an "A" for wet grip, amazing for a supposedly comfort tyre, and "B" for rolling resistance. The higher the rating, the lesser rolling resistance you experience, and therefore better fuel efficiency in the long run. It's good to check out tyre labels when you buy tyres from now on. These are tested independent of the tyre manufacturers, and represent an objective and unbiased assessment of said tyres,

    attachicon.gifGoodyear EfficientGrip tyres (3).jpg

Having changed to these, the immediate feel is gosh, the tyres are really comfortable and quieter than the Dunlops, considering both are brand new tyres, so if you think the stock Dunlops are quiet, wait till you try these new generation tyres! The tyre sidewall is soft, you can visually see the sidewall deform as compared to the stock Dunlops. High speed cornering performance slightly lose out to the Dunlops simply due to the softer sidewall, but I prefer the improved ride and quietness very much over the stiffer Dunlops.

Furthermore, the low rolling resistance can really be felt by going down MCE slope, with the Dunlops, I could feel a distinct drag and the speed would maintain, but with the new Goodyears, the car actually increased in speed and had to brake before the speed camera before I would be snapped for speeding!

    attachicon.gifGoodyear EfficientGrip tyres (1).jpg

In short, a good upgrade in future if you absolutely cannot stand the stiffness, especially for 17" Vezelers!

Ya. I had a similar encounter in a major cross junction where I accidentally pressed the "Engine Stop" button. At that panic stage, I attempted to press the "Engine Start" Button again but it can only ON whatever, just except the Engine. Fortunately I quickly set the Gear to "P" & press the Foot-Brake follow by the "Engine Start" Button & I manage to drive off. Lucky me. [:/]

    Anyway, that's my 2nd day ride.. [:p]

Hi, by right you can't off your engine even you accidentally press the "Engine Start/Stop" button when you on the "D" mode. at least this happen to my XC60.

After reading your post, I tried topress the "Engine Start/Stop" button when I stop at the traffic junction, but it prompted me "Not in P mode" and the engine still running.

Yes. My friend current ride is sedan. He shared how bumpy the test ride was and that causes himself and his wife headache after that test-ride. Other than that, Vezel is really an attractive car to him and his wife. Is that normal for Vezel?

Hi bro ... yes, we did get headache after driving ... cos we runout ofplace to drive as we enjoyed it so much ... just joking bro. I was driving a sedan (sylphy) previously and now vezel and find no problem, in-fact very shoik as its a higher ride. I have also tested other SUV without problem. Maybe the test drive car tyre air pressure was too high, resulting in the bumpy ride. Had the same situation in the beginning but after adjusting the air pressure, the ride is okay.

Honda sedan or? Honda's suspension usually is stiffer if compared to toyota, mazda or nissan but still more comfy compared to likes of suzuki, subaru. It is pretty normal in my view as crv is a bit bumpy too. Check the tyres pressure too as if it is near or over 245, the effect seems more pronounced.

Thanks for sharing your ride experience. I am also thinking along the line that it could be the tyre pressure and the cars' higher CG point. I am also wondering if the ride experience could improve by adding strut bar etc like we did for GE Fit to steady the car frame to reduce the roll over effect?

My friend driving a Mazda 6 and he probably used to the bigger rev engine. Even though he did mentioned he test-drove with cautious at a cruise speed. The route he took was around Ubi area, he went with cartimes test-drive and he did not pledge any 10k cheque. The agent just offer him the test-ride as it is.

I was surprised & immediately went to try out on my ride.

CONFIRMED "D", the engine can be switched OFF :excl: :o

And it did prompted to me that my Gear-stick not in proper position.

Once again, Bro & Sis beware.. If you accidentally pressed the Engine Switch button dring traffic light situation, IMMEDIATELY pressed on the Brake padel (cos the Car will move depending on the road angle) & put the Gear Stick to "P" then re-start the Engine.

DO NOT PANICK !! (I say only, actual happened to you still may panick for most of us. especially during peak hours..)

I was trying to find these too

This is my ride.... My wife and I love it. The ride is a little bumpy but it's ok for me cos I am on a spolit coilover for more than a year haha.

Hope to meet up withVezel owners heresoon [:)]

    Nice clean cool blue!!sui!!

Logical thinking should be thick oil.... But i am going for thinner oil.
My 1k servicing done on last sat... WS used liquimoly 15w40.
    My engine noise very "rough"
I wanted to used 0w30 but need to top up.
So decided to change only at 5k servicing.

Start stop engine dun use thick oil

Bro indulge, actually its up to you whether you felt that you have sufficient compartments to store your things anot.. Its practical vs aesthetic. I had a similar one with storage where I brought over from my previous ride. Totally no dust issue. Probably cos I seldom drive with windows down. Cleaning... none for the past 3-years.. [:p]

Don't worry bro. (For mine) There is something like a Flab (with velcro at the top side) for you to slot it into the gap between the Console & the Seat. Then you stick the Holder (with velcro at the bottom) onto the Flab. So its secured. Indirectly, it will block & prevent your whatever stuffs from dropping thru'.. [:)]

    Hi bros and sis.
1st time posting this. Hello everyone!

Actually before hand vezel is the least i thought of. It's neither a saloon car nor suv.
Im concern about the 1.5 powerplant able to take a car of its size. But then again i don't have much of a choices when a bloody piece of paper costs more than the car itself!
Anyway my thoughts changes when i saw the car. What a beauty!
So envy of you owners here!
I'm actually torn between altis, civic amd the vezel.( not sure if 1500cc is sufficient, even though the new civic is only 1600cc)
altis for it's reliability and civic for its pliant ride and stability.
any of you bros tested the above cars? How is the vezel drive in comparison?

    Hi bro, my opinions...

I lost faith in thailand made cars. I have driven corolla made in japan and corolla made in thailand b4, world of difference. Will skip toyota altogether. Talking about paper value also, not worth. OMV for thailand made is always lower than JDM. Price wise for Authorized dealer oftentimes are higher too.

The old civic is way nicer than the latest one. Test drove the latest civic, drive wise quite ok but extremely disappointed in the whole plastic feel materials, it feels cheaper and cheaper, almost going the toyota route of saving costs in search of higher profit margin. I hope they do not continue such practice.

In terms of getting the most bang for your buck, vezel has loads of features for that kind of money. The only thing is it will feel like an SUV when driven, a more zippy, eager to move off, tight cornering pup feel as compared to SUVs like the old model Hyundai tucson & Suzuki Grand Vitara. If you really still like the feel of a sedan, then stick to a sedan. Mazda 3 or 6 is not bad. If you really want stability, i would highly recommend AWD Subaru. My ex-ex-car was a Subaru Legacy 2.0L GT Wagon. A beast!! I have yet to drive the 1.5L cvt vezel though, would like to go for a test drive perhaps at Vincar or cartimes (without putting down 10k deposit!) Eventually chose the hybrid for even more fun, more horsepower and technology.

All the best for your hunt bro, go molest the cars more, test drive test drive and test drive. Then feel where your heart lies.

Thank you bro for the wonderful thoughts and insights.
agree, what is wrong with kah motor for that awful ( but still the best rode) civic.
other countries are already shipping in the 1.8 cvt 2014 civic with push start and keyless.

typical kah motor strategy(or lack off). I guess they are trying to sell out and position the city 1st.

Went cartimes. They told me to put up deposit.
    What absolute load.
    Will try vincar or something

So guys, am i right to say that Vezel has practically very little parf value upon its 10yrs?

I would say it's good as I don't see the point of having parf where the money is stuck there for a decade.

Personally my dream car last time was also the previous civic launched in 2006/2007.. too bad was too young back then family couldn't justify having 2 cars, and we actually thought 80k for a civic back then was expensive.. haha the ironies of life. My family has generally been a Japanese car maker supporter, from the old corolla (unbelievable stability and just a wonderful drive overall), to nissan sunny (i don't know why it was the best selling car in singapore during the early 2000s) and then back to an altis (decent and comparable to the old corolla). I've always wanted to drive a honda but it usually is priced at a higher point as compared to toyota or nissan in the same category.

Was pleasantly surprised when we originally intended to get a toyota wish, only to find a really seemingly superior alternative in vezel, at a relatively affordable price. Although I haven't physically sat in a moving vezel or test driven one before, the value of the car on paper compared to say altis is already significantly better.

As with authorised dealers, Kah Motors prices and the models they bring in pale in comparsion with PI dealers. Of course many people still buy from them for the peace of mind. But the biggest reason why I'd go to the PI is because I also agree there is a difference between a JDM and a Thailand/Indonesia made car.

most cars of similar category today will fall in this category. in fact, for the vezel in this class of vehicles, is already considered a unit with relatively high PARF at the end of 10years.

try evaluating cars like the Vioz or Almera, the final PARF would be lower.

[sweatdrop] [shakehead] very dangerous "feature" leh...

I think is a safety feature, the Start/Stop switch act as kill switch in case of throttle panel jammed or any other emergency cases.

If i were buying a car in this price range now i will be looking at Vezel or Mazda 3. Though the vezel is big but it is not that heavy - in fact lighter than the mazda3.

I think the 1500cc is sufficient. Its high compression engine so gives more power and efficiency.

Went up Novena 6th storey carpark sharp slope easily.

Was in Malaysia 110/120kmh average with power to overtake easily.

Ride i lowered the airpressure which the car was delivered to me with as felt it was too hard and bumpy.

May I know how is the road noise level? Some pi just told me that the g model only got black, white and silver only.
    Any good pi to recommend?

    Thanks :)

    Sylphy I tested drove it.
One word to sum it up. Numb.
Aw seems good though and is around the price range, though I tot the Vezel hybrid would be more powerful

I wana test drive the qashqai!! Test drove both 2 old models of QQ b4. Ok only. 1.2T of the skoda Yeti was sufficient given their good tranny. I wonder how wud qashqai feel. Seriously they shud bring in 17" or 18" max rims. 19" as standard on e QQ only serves to look good. Tyres will cost a bomb. 17" to 18" price difference in tyres is alredy larger than between 16" & 17".

    Good package wud also mean..
Free upgrade to highest spec HU system, free high end front/rear recording camera, free 3-in-1 (anti UV anti infrared anti shatter) solar film and 3layer car paint protection glass/ceramic coating. If get max loan of 50% or 60% on 5yrs tenure, dealer should be able to give you all these with healthy profits to spare. Especially if need to wait 4-6bids. COE Rebate level should also not be more than 3-5k(which is highly realistic) below existing COE levels. No top up is a must!
IMO, anything else is a so-so deal. I hope i'm not being hated with this post.

mazda 3 outside look nice, but inside very cramp.

The space of vezel beats mazda 3 hands down, mazda 3 has the tightest space among all the 1.6 japanese sedans I have seen.

Btw I am 1.8 metres tall. Rear legroom and headroom is one of the deciding factor.

Looks like a 42% increase in COE quota really got effect to bring COE price down. Considering this is the last exercise for people looking to get their car before CNY and yet COE premiums haven't gone up, think it's a good sign. Hopefully can fall below 60k over the next few bidding exercises.. so I can get some COE rebate.. hahaha

    What r e possibilities?

Few possibilities but the simpliest and scariest would be: "engine seize/stop", peripherals would lead to power, no "hydraulic brake" assist, slowing down will rely on mechanical braking, no "power steering", steering be super heavy and tough to steer, no longer engaged in gear thus vehicle be rolling along like in Neutral.

It would not be a situation anyone would like to be in especially at 150kmh.

Maybe 0.1%. But it only need to happen once for someone to loss his/her life.

I do think this is a major flaw...

Actually wanted to know if while travelling at 150kmh and u accidentally press the start/stop button. Brakes will not work i guess? No power steering?

obviously you do'nt understand the potential effect of a "sudden stop"... i dare not imagine how my car will react if im traveling at 150kmh and someone press the stop engine button...i will not want such "feature"... [sweatdrop]

Bro, i'm in racing business. What about you can't stop when you travelling at 150km/h even when you lift off the gas pedal and the ECU just gone wrong to de-activate the brake. That's why we always have a kill switch button in a race car as a last resource to turn off the engine.

I havejust gotten my COE at $62,002 this afternoon, all thanks to a wonderful and efficient salesperson from Mister Cars Pte Ltd. He wasalways there to advise me and had neverpressured me into this commitment for the Honda Vezel. Infact, he even assured me that he will guaranteed delivery ofthe car to me before CNY. I alsohad a reasonable offer from him for my trade in of my 7 yearsHonda Civic 2.0at the same time. All in all, everything went so smoothly andI had only transferred the required deposit to him with less than 1 hour to the closing bidding time of the COEat 4pm today.

My family is looking forward to the collection of my new car next week :) Any current Vezel owners have lobang for me to trade in my new rims and tyres, I am thinking of changing it to a 17" or is it possible to have 18" with low profile tyres? I will be hunting for Mugen accessories, if bros have lobang, please share with me too :)

    Thank you very much.

did u manage to trade inyour existing rims and tyres ? I am thinking of upgrading to the 17" rims and better tyres too.

    tks in advance!

I upgrade to 17" Enkei rims and bridgestone GR 100... Road noise did decrease. But its exp.
Vezel engine noise abit too loud :(

Frankly speaking, I was very happy with the final price once the COE bidding closed at 4pm today. My final car price was $5k lowerthan the original price quoted before COE bidding :p lols...... I was quoted $120,888 with a capping of the COE at $67,000, pressure from me to increase it from $65,000 :p.... My final price is $115,890 after deducting the rebate :) heehee......

Thanks a lot to Mister Cars !

Congrats on your new ride! You're really decisive! hahah although I might feel abit sad if I'm you, since I would think the Honda Civic should have been quite an awesome ride for you previously! Enjoy your new ride!

    Thanks for the advice.

Personally i am just getting used to the road noise. If new smooth road it is ok. But old rough roads....

Guess can't have everything...beautiful body..nice 2 door look, good performance and consumption.

Abit of a blind spot around the side mirrors so have to be careful when turning.

Also..always remember to handover the keys when leaving the car if passing it to another driver as the car can still drive until the driver press the stop button then the engine stops. Had to take a cab to take the key which was with me to the car recently. Other than this engine should stop if the key is not within afew metres of it, its really convenient to be able to open and start the car with keys in the pocket.

Did some sound proofing on the doors and bonnet...left out the firewall and floor as hesitant about the extra weight.

I think for Vezel Black is Brillant Black..so its glossy. The silver also good not dull. I took the white as didnt know what the other 2 colours look like on the car...but white looks good too.

No idea on PI as its the first time i am getting thu a PI too. Guess look as the previous posted list of where everyone been buying from and bargain around.

Personally not a hybrid fan. The fuel consumption is good enough for petrol. Hybrid i am not sure as one car guy i met told me there is a motor to consider and also the battery..so some extra cost considerations in future....but the gear shift is cool!

the Honda Civic 2.0 has served me well and good for 7 years, thinking of an SUV that is affordable given the high COE now.... imagine I only paid $92K for my Civic in 2008 and I am selling it for 43K now....

Congrats on your new ride! You're really decisive! hahah although I might feel abit sad if I'm you, since I would think the Honda Civic should have been quite an awesome ride for you previously! Enjoy your new ride!

I have chosen the black one because white is so common on the road..... in fact I like the white more than the black but my son insist to have the black:) lols.... did u upgrade your rims and tyres? you sound proof because it is noisy?
