I have been a lurker here recently due to the fact that my Nissan Latio Sport 10 years COE is ending in mid-sept this year.

I didn't even realise that my account was registered in 2005 and last login was in 2008 lol!.

I have targeted the Honda Vezel as my next car and really love the discussion and mods that you guys did for your rides.

My biggest headache is on which PI to go to for the best overall deal as I have never dealt with a PI dealer before.

I am also very curious as Japan's Honda website has grey colour for Vezel but so far I never see any grey Vezel photos in this thread.

May I ask fellow forumers if grey is not available for Singapore?

Ideal colours to me is white or grey as my current car is black already.

Those rear seat monitors are cheapo ones... made in China kind. Think cost about 100 plus for a pair only. Sent them for rewrap so it matches the colour of my present seats. Bought them 3 years ago and still working perfectly. Think Taobao should have tons of them or any audio shops should carry them as well. Mine definitely not those high ends ones.

hi bro, look at the collected list and you can roughly see which PI is more popular or have delivered the cars. Price isn't everything (well ...almost). Check also how muchthey "eat" your carand negotiate forthosefree gifts.

Just came back from doing my 5K servicing. Change EO to LQ 5W30. Best-lah. Engine noise reduce and more rev, more power.

Had another long chat with the workshop manager and he is advicing that we should be using W40 due to hot weather and start/stop road here. He can/will use W30 if customer wish but he strongly recommend that wechange to W40 when milage is around 30K-40K.

I see in his workshop, he uses OWS engine oil. Any bro use OWS EO before?

where and who u buy from bro? can share deal and contact?

latest best deal in the mkt i heard from fellow forumers' PM is
    1) X Model 108k 62k COE rebate
    2) S Model 111k 62k COE rebate

CEV of vehicle confirmed at 15k rebate

    basic standard gifts apply.

this means car body for X is 46K and S is 49K

For the benefit of a few friends here who r still deliberating which model, i would wanna try to share an "as detailed as possible" list of X and S accessories differences from what i observed,to emphasize on the super "value for moneyness" of the S model with original accessories.

Hope to do this soon, needa do some homework.

Tonite gg for a night drive too, wud give my 20cents worth of personal feedback and experience of the Hybrid Tech and performance!! Will be doing some full throttle tests after an eco mode pussycat drive from suntec to woodlands one round through bke pie aye and west coast. Anyone wanna meet me at west coast mac b4 0-100 test?

Use 0w-20. As per Honda recommendations. The workshop did not design the engine, so how can they know better.

COE a side. If there is no reduction in selling price, you better off with 10K rebate.

Higher rebate also means your scrap value will be much lesser than $5K

    1000% agree!

low viscosity is required for fast flow through the eo path ways during high frequency start/stop of engine. need high grade eo as well to protect against shearing

    Bro,

Upon registration, you will know what rebate being used.

If it is $15K, then you should demand some refund, due to the lower ARF payment to register your car.

been telling all my frens b4 they book, request or clausento be put into sales agreement.
    eg..
"Price of the above $113800 is based on CEV rebate of $10000 for Vezel X. Should eventual CEV rebate turn out to be $15000, a total of $5000 will be rebated and/or reduced from the above sale price"

Include visibly clear name and signature. best is with company chop at the end of all clauses.

Went to Tan Chong just now to look at Qashqai as my Fren interested to buy car...
Didn't test drive it but I find the control buttons very plasticky and cabin size feels smaller than my vezel.
The only thing I like is the sport rim ( but I can change my vezel to any rims I like oso)n the look from the side view...
I even took a pic of my car beside the Qashqai
My Fren saw this white vezel parked near his place and it seems to have a moonroof !!
I thought its a hybrid version but my Fren told me it's not.
Belong to any bro here? Which model is this? Or did u just paint the roof black?

I sat in the Qashqai during the motor show, also felt that the interior look cheap and plasticky.
The Vezel material feel better to me.

Or did u just paint the roof black?

nice black roof..my guess is he did a black glossy sticker

I actually drove my vezel such that my front wheels are align with the QQ... and looking from various angles , the QQ is slightly bigger on the outside ( u can see the front bonnet is higher than vezel ) but the QQ interior isn't bigger ... Especially the rear seat n the boot space.... it feels smaller than vezel

    Bros,

Just wanna hv some aesthetic advice. Since im getting white color vezel x model. What do u guys think for the interior seats, which should i choose?

    1)Black leather with white/silver stitching.

    2)brown color with black stitching.

3)maroon red color with black stitching.

Or any other color that anyone has tried?
Which one goes better with white exterior?
    Maintenance?
Resale value, may be years later?

    Thanks:)

    Bro,

    X Model 108k 62k COE rebate

the figures looks good and tempting. mind share where?

where and who u buy from bro? can share deal and contact?

latest best deal in the mkt i heard from fellow forumers' PM is
    1) X Model 108k 62k COE rebate

Just came back from doing my 5K servicing. Change EO to LQ 5W30. Best-lah. Engine noise reduce and more rev, more power.

Had another long chat with the workshop manager and he is advicing that we should be using W40 due to hot weather and start/stop road here. He can/will use W30 if customer wish but he strongly recommend that wechange to W40 when milage is around 30K-40K.

I see in his workshop, he uses OWS engine oil. Any bro use OWS EO before?

A lot of SG Workshop like to use one size fit all method. Even engine from the same factory will have sight different. We use to choose engine in a particular batch number for better performance when we come to racing. Therefore, I never buy such idea (High performance car W40, ECO car W40, New car W40, 10 years old car W40) so why oil company produce W20, W30, W40, W50???

I am also very curious as Japan's Honda website has grey colour for Vezel but so far I never see any grey Vezel photos in this thread.

May I ask fellow forumers if grey is not available for Singapore?

Ideal colours to me is white or grey as my current car is black already.

Bro, the grey for Vezel is an option only for the Hybrid version. Non-Hybrid Vezel will have to make do with Silver.

Grey is also my preferred option... :)

White is a maintenance pain to keep it White & Black is a hazard to avoid swirl marks and water marks

considering to test drive only hehe..

if they r using SOHC,mayb lower end acceleration better..juuuust by a little bit,but lose out on the higher end torque and high speed overtaking.

price and value wise totally not worth it.

Given that an older version engine is used and we have to pay premium for it..hmm..dun like the idea

a lot of workshops here think they know better when they do not. if anything happens, will they compensate you? most likely all will tell you, their usual, "i dunno why" or "its like that one". so what if they have stripped and rebuilt the engine before. have they done tons of hours of testing and R&D in various loads and conditions like the manufacturer has done so? Those of you who work with or supply to automotive companies know how rigorous their testing is.

really must take what workshops say with a pinch of salt, when the manufacturer already recommends a certain oil grade. The words of the local workshop are not even worth the paper it is written down on and that's if they even write it down.

My biggest headache is on which PI to go to for the best overall deal as I have never dealt with a PI dealer before.

hi bro, look at the collected list and you can roughly see which PI is more popular or have delivered the cars. Price isn't everything (well ...almost). Check also how muchthey "eat" your carand negotiate forthosefree gifts.

Well I do see a lot of forum guys getting their Vezel from Hup Long...I thought Car Times was supposed to be more popular as I recall that I know their name since 2005 or so when I bought my Nissan back then.

I checked LTA website and it seems I will only get back $9000++ after my car is de-registered....so I planning now to drive all the way hahaha.

The free gifts part not easy as I see many owners getting different items, I hope to get a quite "good looking" Vezel after some add-ons from PI if possible.

Will most probably start my car hunting after CNY and looking at Mazda 3, Honda Vezel (PI), Honda Jazz (KM) and Nissan Quasdai 1.2T (distant option as I don't quite like Nissan Latio CVT...not much strength and rubber band effect)

totally agree, there are4 types of workshops here in Singapore as far as my experience goes:

Workshop #1 - I call it the AD workshop, maintenance and checks by the book, very proactive approach. Cost $$$$

Workshop #2 - The local workshop who attempts to replicate the efforts of AD but with the reduction of some bells & whistles (i.e. using generic parts, etc...). Cost $$$

Workshop #3 - The totally local workshop who will attempt to squeeze as much out of you as possible but with a lot of hocus pocus justification. Pretty common out there :) Cost $$

Workshop #4 - Also a local workshop, poor justification on mostrecommendations but leaves the decision to you. Makes you spend only on need. Cost $

Guess end of the day, it depends on how savy the vehicle owner is to utilize different type of workshop to suit needs too

AD workshops may also blatantly use 5w40 grade 3 (middle grade) engine oil on brand new cars, different from mamufacture specs, and charges 3x the retail price of stockists for it b4 gst. That kind of money spent allows us to buy grade 5 EO for 2 servicings with extra to spare and top up. The thing for AD workshop is,u just handover ur car and go drink kopi or run errands,u dun noe what they do exactly while charging us sky high price. Just that the warranty they give are more credible.
If anyone still has KM motor warranty here..i heard ur paint is warrantied,do go for a free respray even if u intend to sell car soon. Brings up e selling value

can anyone verify that manufacture warranty from japan is 3yrs on all vital parts?

After passing Vitas and now awaiting scormming!!

Barriers at every steps. Definitely not b4 CNY

Selected seat leather months ago and evenwith 4 months waiting & missing CNY still need to TOP-UP $350 to full leather seat due to no matching colour for the lower half.

Realised it is not full genuine leather, wify very angry & finally me secretly agreed to pay 50%=$175+

To be fair, got a courtesyride for CNY after carless for a month.

    Sharing my experiences here.

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all. Like all the posting and learned a lot.

I totally agree with you on this for AD workshops.

I was with package forTC Nissan Ubi, Autolutions for 7 years and they are really good at "ticking" all the checklist items for your car without doing anything.

My last straw was this incident: I know the Senior Technician (a very nice guy) and 1 fine day I sent my car for normal servicing during the 5th year, the consultant called me and advised I need to change my suspension to Tan Chong's Malaysian-made suspension as the original stock ones were leaking oil.

Hence, I was worried and gave the go ahead to change the suspension parts.

Later in the day when I went to collect my car, I bumped into the Senior Tech and he asked me why I change my suspension when it was not faulty.

I was stunned and he told me that he recognised my car and went to check on his guys, they were already in the midst of changing and he could not stop them as I (the owner) have given them the go ahead to change.

In the end, I went to their management and requested for an explanation.

No clear explanation was given but they used original parts (steering column)from adisplay car in showroom to compensate for this. My steering column has a little fault.

Even though they never admit it but it is obvious that this was their mistake and their consultant may have earn some commission when the owner change parts...even if the parts are not faulty.

Apologises for the ranting as this incident is very vivid in my mind.

also think you are right to say that the adviser got commission. my wife friend used to be working as a service adviser and i remember she say got commission one and most who send in their car for servicing change whatever the advisers tell them to..lol.

He told me that the battery alone includlabouris $500. I am wondering whetherthe CEO or Senior Sale Managerpersonally replace his car with a nuclear-powered maintenance-free life long battery, that's why he pay a premium for it. So I guess novices or ignorantswill be paying for skyhigh price to AD workshop because it is under-warranty.

Hahaha we all have our frustrating times with AD workshop as they know most ignorant owners trust them and will change anything that they inform.

But what to do when a new owner does not have any contact with outside workshops, servicing becomes a hassle and AD workshop seems to be the only logical solution.

I am glad I have gotten past that phase and my current Nissan is serviced at AMK AutoPoint, lesser waiting time with better pricing, reliability.

The only thing I am worried about the Vezel is the authorised workshops by individual PIs for warranty.

Seriously, I don't think any new Vezel owners will want to find "outside" workshops to prevent voiding of warranty I feel.

Bros and sis...if we love our rides so much given our large financial investment in it, albeit it being a depreciating liability (sometimes an asset yielding liability depending on the situation), i would actually go out to my trusted workshop, pay them a nominal fee to do diagnostics and checks (and i mean real testing checks, not just visual & opinions).

Don't let them touch the repairs. then having this information and knowledge, go call original parts suppliers and stockists for quotes on parts, and ask for bulk discount quote too. Now you may go to your AD workshop or even big PI-linked workshop and see what they say. From there you can see if they treat you with respect or treat you like a "vegetable head".

I know this may sound like a very troublesome thing, if you get down to doing it, it is not actually. And c'mon, most pple i know care more for their company accounts than their own accounts. $4000 for servicing on a 180merc. Good business, i charge half price with GST and i give rebates. And all i need to do is refer as i dun run a workshop.

One example, my dad's "fren fren" workshop, "fren" for many many years, quoted about 1300-1500 for his C class merc 230 underarm assebly, and say is b4 installation, parts are at cost price. I gave 2 calls to 2 big well known merc parts stockists...800 bucks...730 after i request for discount without arguing. Disappointing hor...so much for "fren fren" price.

I think it depends on the workshop which your PI appoints/owns. I will probably send my car to the workshop under my PI and see how their servicing and charges are like. I'm used to my car mechanic and they do a good job at a reasonable price.

To begin with, I'm quite confident in the level of QC for a JDM Honda, don't expect it to give me problems before 3 years or 60000km. Any problem after that, go to the workshop of your choice, and they should not be charging you exorbitant prices for either parts or workmanship. Honda parts are generally common and not too difficult/expensive to replace.

My Nissan Latio from Japan also never gave me problems except for wear & tear parts.

The build of these JDM cars are good n strong, also Latio does not have much electronics n less items for failure too.

I do feel that the Honda Vezel can be a good car to last for at least 10 years or more, :D

Bro, not all cars have that function. Some cars only blink once when you flick the indicator stick without engaging the stick to the left or right position. Vezel's when flick, will blink about 3 to 4 times without engaging the stick.

This feature seems to be common for Conti rides like Audi and VW, my brother's Mark 6 Gti also has this and very useful.

I am glad that the Vezel has this as it is good for short over-taking.

Good to have feature I must say but definitely okay also if it doesn't comes with it.

Personally, i feel the most useful features/technologies are those that help to save $$.

So Earth-Dream, Start-Stop, Econ mode and the Dial changing color to 'coach' you on fuel saving driving habits are strong positive points in this car. At least for me.

Would be useful if there are Vezel stockists in sg. Anyone?

It would be Honda stockists bro not Vezel stockists.....

Believe basic parts would be common to the Jazz, i.e. Oil Filter, etc,but body parts will have to keep fingers cross and wait as this model catches on :)

My bad AD experience was with TC Toa Payoh branch. Discovered the interior center console and AC lights were not working and drove there for checkup. My car was then after warranty period. They did a pre-check and was told it is a complicated issue as they need to check and trace all fuse and wiring. It could be one of the lights or wire short circuit to other connection. Checking alone will cost $75, before any repairs [bigcry]

Anyway, decided not to do it as I was also in a rush for the day. After reaching my office, I realize the hazard button was jammed and interior door light not working and had to go back to TC again as they were fine before the pre-check. Next day, went to a local WS and they change a fuse that cost $5 and all problems solved!!! [bounce2]

Dam piss off that I purposely went back to TC to compliant to the service manager and posted in their Facebook for all to see. From that day onwards, I never step into a AD workshop. [furious]

Anyone can recommend what the best combi for car interior?

    Black Leather with Red Stitch?

Any colour you think you will love for the whole duration of the time you own the car is a good colour. [thumbsup]

I initally wanted red, but a bit too flashy and not sure if I will grow sick of it. Dark brown is something I find quite nice, but then they also plaster the brown on the interior side of your door, which I don't really like.

Sticking to black leather with red stitch too. haha

Ohh...you are referring to that 3-4s blink. Haha. Hmmm...i think 3 of my previous rides have it. But it is sure useful. Especially when I find the signal switch is rather stiff. My fingering too weak liao.

I feel the same way and not a deal breaker for the signal indicator.

My Latio air-con mode, I didn't even switch for how many years haha...sometimes some features are good to have but not necessary at all.

I think end of the day, AD workshops also out-source out and TC really well known for smoking customers.

The only gd experience I had was at the Bukit Timah branch.

I was told by leather seat installer that real leather will not last in our weather. It will dry up easily and crack. Typically, the installer will use some form of modified leather, you could call it "half leather" perhaps.

    (1) where else can we get accessories for the Vezel?
      - i want the USB panels.
     - Side step

    (2) Is this still accurate? (for the vezel rims)
      - HR V 99 on (PCD) 5114.3 (offset) 37 to 45
this was in ref to the older HR-V.

anyone knows whats the best offset to be flushed?

    (3) will changing aftermarket brake kit affect the CTBA effectiveness?

    Thanks in advance guys!
    i am certainly poisoned alr.

I am sourcing the big brake kit for the vezel ,..so far spoken to one Taiwan brand and only they have it ...brake kit will. Not affect the ctba. ..will let know once it's confirm ....

Bro, this being an SUV class vehicle, agree it is smaller, thus, drivability will never match a well balanced sedan.

Thus, you should compare it within its own class of small SUV's..... enjoy its Pro's that it would bring and forgo the other attributes :)

I started owning full size SUV's since 10years back and never looked back.... enjoying every moment

What is so fun about suv compare to normal sedan? If in overseas i can understand the usefulness of the extra height when go off road. Maybe next vehicle can consider suv if its really fun to drive

It's all about personal preference. For me it's the height and knowing I will never scrap the back or front while parking :)

Gone past the phase of sedans and pocket rockets

Usually the higher riding stance, but will give up a bit on the tight cornering if u drive a sports sedan, but vezel's setup is stiff and good, need to push it hard to get bodyroll, cornering can be done impressively at decent speeds if one knows how to drive fast at corners in a front wheel drive car. I like high wider boot than deep boot since i am tall, and it's easier to shift stuff. Getting in and out of SUV is also more convenient for tall ladies and guys.

Bro preference is one thing but wait till you see the Vezel at close hand. The difference will capture your heart. It did it to my wife who was a bit reluctant to change to a Vezel as she wanted a 7 seater MPV, just like my current Wish. [thumbsup]

Your SE trying to save cost by giving you half leather ? My 9.5 year got full leather, 10 hours under the sun, no crack or dry up.

Half leather is much cheaper than full leather, and sit already, backside and balls will sweat [:p] Ask for full leather instead

Im sick of hitting my exhaust when I reverse park. Vezel will take away this problem. Sedan may not have leg room problem but it doesn't have much headroom to shout about. Suv therefore the solution for me but the typical big brother 2.0L 1.5-6tons machine is no fun to me as it drinks. But this Vezel is good on F? as well and may even be better than some conventional 1.5L sedan. So why not?
