saw a white hybrid park at the road side at Solaris there. belong to any bros here??
Bro, can comment on what are the differences between the two? I do realise taobao is darn slow in delivery.
I am under the impression taobao dont ship internationally so daigou is a forwarder service to buy their stuff.
Collected our baby with my dad on 3 Jan! Ride is smooth, had a minor issue of accidentally immobilizing the engine but was sorted out within the hour. One thing we noticed was the engine roar when picking up speed is abit intrusive but tolerable. Drove almost 150km on the first day cargo hauling as we were moving house. The space with the rear seats down is really very very big.
Oh did i mention the LED headlights and DRLs are gorgeous? They are freaaking bright to the extent that it has so much range it illuminates all 4 lanes of the E'way.
The car is a head turner no doubt, feels like driving an advertisement board. Much thanks to cartimes and Robert for the service. It was rush but everything went smoothly in the end.

indeed, it's an eye turner! after driving for more than 2 months already, still getting looks and second-takes along the roads

Hi,

I will be going to Shanghai for 2 days next week.
If any bro that needs help to hand-carry any light weight, dedicated items, do PM me.
But you have to find ways to bring the items to my hotel

Cheers...
may i take this opportunity to recommend iroad v7. it is much more affordable n more heat resistant than some blackvue models i used to own, short of the 1mp diff in recording resolutions, but has wifi connectivity (dongle separately sold) to android / ios, n can view, search n save video / image to ur mobile device on-the-spot. it even has built-in voltage cutoff n fused cable for direct connection to fusebox for 24/7 monitoring, unlike many others that need separate anti-batt-flat device. recording for both front n back at 30fps (this is impt as u don wan choppy video / too blurry image if paused to save image).

i'm using one for almost 2 mths; so far works well when park under direct noon sun. look out for next sitex / IT show offer.
Hi guys, just collected our White Vezel Hybrid and did a short objective review over the weekend over 200km of driving. As promised, I shall break it down into 3 parts for easy viewing, 1) Outlook, 2) Interior and 3) the Drive, and keep it short and sweet.

Before we start, here's our beauty!

1) Outlook

The Vezel Hybrid comes in a Pearl White paintwork which I believe is also available in the non-Hybrid versions. Going by usual Honda standards, the paint thickness is quite thin, so I might consider going for paint protection as most people do so.

The hybrid version comes with body colour wheel fenders, in contrast with the black finish of the non-Hybrid to differentiate the 2 modesl. Other than the obvious Hybrid tags all over the place, the only other exterior disparity are the rear brake light clusters, in which there is a slightly darker blue tint and LED lights instead of normal bulbs.

Wheels are decent looking 17" alloys, nothing much to shout out about. Tyres are Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 originating from Japan, size 215/55R17 94V, considered a decent OEM tyre. I shall touch on the impact on the Vezel's handling later, which is probably the most important aspect that needs to be shared.

The LED lights are BRIGHT. Really bright. Coupled with the high stance of our Vezels, you can literally blind lowered cars when behind them. Mark my words, these LEDs are brighter than ANY legal stock HIDs on the road and the throw is ridiculous. 4 lanes of expressway illuminated. I dare say these are around 7000-8500K temperature range. Its nuts that LTA didn't step in but La-La-La we enjoy bright roads while we can.

To sum it up, nothing much different from the Vezel non-Hybrids, so moving along to the interior..

2) Interior

This is where the greatest change manifests itself. Tan faux-leather appears in the front fascia and all 4 sides of the panels. I chose the black faux-leather fitment across the board as I personally find the full-tan interior look a little too "Conti-imitation", and our humble JDM ride need not fight its battles with the Europeans.

The Hybrid possesses a vastly different instrument cluster, in which the number of features are significantly more complex than the non-Hybrids. Japanese-only descriptions do nothing to help. From here, you can see your instant/average fuel consumption, engine/motor combination drive diagram, reactive-force pedal engagement and more.

The Hybrid comes with the usual magic seats but strangely, I could not get the "Refresh-Mode" arrangement to work. Does this work on our JDM Vezels? Its such a waste if Honda left out this feature. As you can see, the black interior blends quite well with the tan armrests.

3. The Drive

This part is intimate to me as I personally own a Honda Civic Type-R (FN2) and well... am a partner in a workshop. Another story but lets remain focused on the Vezel Hybrid.

Equipped with the 7-speed I-DCD (Dual-Clutch and DC motor encased within one unit), and having tested many VW DSGs over the course of a few years, I can say based on very preliminary testing of the system, it works beautifully. There is totally an absence of judder, which is prevalent in early VW 7-DSG drives prior to the recalls, mainly because of the DC motor which powers the car from standstill before the petrol engine kicks in above 15km/h with a distinguishable but slight vibration on load. In fact, most of the time I just simply let the car run on EV mode, which is where the electric motor takes over 100% of the propulsion, to move the car out of the carpark in total silence. An added bonus is the electric Aircon compressor, giving you cool air purely on battery power without the petrol engine kicking in.

On the move, the Hybrid can cruise at 40-50km/h on battery power EV-mode given the right circumstances, owing to battery charge and how you feather the throttle. Having driven a Toyota Camry Hybrid extensively in Australia over 4500km, I can say that our Honda i-DCD is less aggressive in terms of straining the electrical system as compared to the Toyota's HSD. There is no dedicated EV-mode button, and the petrol engine kicks in once u dab the throttle a wee bit more. On average, I could achieve 18km/l on 70% city and 30% expressway drive, with the engine mileage only at 250km. Hopefully it increases after the first few engine oil change.

Here's where it goes downhill.

The Vezel comes equipped with a Torsion Beam setup. If you are aware of the limitations of this setup, you would know this is a cost-saving feature for compact cars or sport hatchbacks that use this lifehack to achieve lightness and stiffness, with the advantage of cheaper manufacturing. Case in point my beloved FN2R and the Renault Megane RS.

However, on a tall car such as the Vezel, it is curiously uncomfortable. I'd be honest with you guys, I'd expect a much better comfort level from a new 2014 make, much more from Honda which is famous for putting the brilliant double wishbone/multi-link setup on the Accord CL7 and subsequent Accords. Going over average roads, while a comparable CUV with independent rear suspension (CX-3/5, Forester) will soak up the bumps fairly adequately, the Vezel sways left and right in a stiff way owing to how the Torsion Beam works. It is fine on the smaller Honda Jazz/Fits but not so on the higher CG Vezels. The ride is unsettled, uncomfortable and frankly, disappointing.

Happily, with a stiff suspension setup, the handling is superb for any SUV in its class (except for the Subarus). The car handled most high speed corners adequately, with the 17" Dunlop Sport Maxx 050 barely stressed in any of such situations. Trust me, I did cornering at 80 km/h and body roll was very well tamed and the car revealed flashes of the excellent Fit GK chassis its based on.

But, we don't buy our Vezels to corner fast, we buy them as a sensible family car. I hope that maybe its only my Hybrid that has this stiff ride issue due to the heavy battery pack at the back, and Honda had to put either stiffer shock-absorbers and springs to tame the extra heft.

In closing, I'm excited for this new Honda platform which has a lot of potential. I will do a short-mid-long term review of this vehicle as the most important aspect most Bros here are interested in will be the dual-clutch gearbox reliability, handling and of course, fuel consumption of the Hybrid.

Do share with me your thoughts and enjoy Vezeling!

An excellent and very detailed review bro!
Now we know some technical details about the suspension of both the petrol & hybrid models
Appreciate the thorough explanation too.
By the way, anybody wanting to test the Hybrid, I would be happy to oblige, granted that you take very good care of it! Just PM me I can arrange :)

Bro, nice write out
Hi All,
First up congrats on Vezel new owners, it is a nice looking car indeed.

I am considering the Vezel so would like to check with you guys if you have experience both the hybrid and the S series?

I have test driven the S series and the review is that it drags at the low end (weak pickup) but performs better at mid range and above. We suspect this is due to the HP so might want to consider the 150 BHP Hybrid for a better drive. However we do not have a chance to test drive the hybrid so is wondering if anyone has any advise on this?

Also my PI is offering customized leather seats, in car cam with recording, 4 sides sensors, kenwood stereos (bluetooth and USB) + all the other usual stock items for S series at 125k guaranteed COE. Wonder if this is ok?

I am now considering between Vezel S, Vezel Hybrid, Harrier and CRV. I know they are very different cars with different pricing but just want to get bang for the buck as much as possible.

Thanks.

Haha no problem treating you to kopi. As long as not atas hipster cafe kind :)

Am in Potong Pasir leh.

This weekend I parked next to another black Vezel at my mum-in-law's place in Jurong West extension :) Wondering if the driver is here too?

I was fetching my niece and nephew from their mother's place at Jurong West last weekend =D
Of all the good things with my lady, I must say that she does not have many pockets for me to keep small things that I may need now and then (like parking coupon).

Perhaps my good brothers and sisters could share their creative ways to store things in their vezels.

Let me start this sharing.

I chanced upon this interesting product when I was browsing Qoo10.

Niltrams, thank you for your review. I am getting the Hybrid Z and your review is very helpfull and informative.
I am so happy for all of you broswho have collected your new "ladies" and feeling jealous at the same time :)
Booked mine in October2014 and still waiting. PI said COE already gotten, just waiting for shipment.

Any bros have contacts for workshops that can order and install body kits for Vezel?
Any Idea how muchit'll cost?

Amthinking of getting it done before going for the Paint protection. Appreciate any recommendations.

Happy New Year y'all!

Zippu,
(Hybrid-Z, estimated collection February, Green, yes looks like the i'm gonna be the only one inGreen from Exodus)

Bro..I am currently driving a CRV. I had also tried the harrier before and both are comparable. A bit hard to compare both Vezel hybrid and S to these two because you can feel the power difference rather easily when on full load (5 adults). So depends on what you want. Personally feel the CRV now too pricey. CRV more thirsty than the new harrier by the way. Vezel wins both hands down in this. If you want power, Vezel other variants just barely make it but hybrid is acceptable imho, though still feel less torquey than CRV despite being lighter.
Which model did you get?

How long did it take for them to deliver the car? Ready stock?

Yeah. Got the 1.5X for about 3 weeks already.

Though my humble '07 Jazz had served me well, definitely enjoying my current ride now.

Hi all bros out there who have collected your rides.

PM me!! and we can exchange contact and meet for a joyride. The more i read the threads more i buey tahan..haha
may I know how much is the insurance for the vezel? please also share your NCD as a reference.

Yes sort of decided against the CRV due to it being a guzzler.
It is now between Harrier or Vezel, but i have always wanted a HONDA.

Actually Hybrid even though at 10k up is considered reasonable because the 10k is just to cover for the COE. You are getting an arguably superior car at cheaper the price (if COE is taken out of the equation), any thoughts on that?

SHould be able to get cheaper than this then at some of the smaller insurers because i believe NTUC premium is on the high side?

Actually the price $885 is the same as i got from NTUC (as well) for my X model, as there were not many vezel on the road last OCt
maybe more companies are offering now, but still the price is competitive for a new model car. My broker friend had another company quoted $1000 for the car,

Just sharing for those considering to get Hybrid version.

Buying is one thing, maintaining is another. According to my regular work shop, there are not many ppl able to repair hybrid car in Singapore. Naturally the cost of repair will be higher.

We are buying from PI and this is the thing we need to take note.

Consider again, the FC of normal petroland Hybrid does not make huge diff. I know, the gear knob very chio....lol
Hi all bros/Sis
Wow. I thought I waited long. You waited longer.Hang in there!
Have booked my car with Exodus long long ago on 1st week Aug last year. Now still waiting...possibly I'm ranked 1st in longest wait with no COE as to date.

If its from AD, I will go for hybrid. Furthermore I always have the notion honda hybrid is not the full hybrid. Not an expert in this though. Furthermore, issues on battery warranty etc. The battery itself is a few k if really need replacement. And also resale value of hybrid...if I really go for hybrid, I would go for toyota's at this juncture. In fact I am considering between hybrid and diesel before I come across Vezel. If you have that extra cash then choose the ride you love. Vezel hybrid interior is really nice though.

Yeah need to ask properly on the warranty. I'm inclined towards hybrid because of its higher power not so much other things. If S has a version with hybrid specs I'll sure go for it. I'm also a little worried about hybrid in terms of maintenance.
Hi all bros/Sis
Have booked my car with Exodus long long ago on 1st week Aug last year. Now still waiting...possibly I'm ranked 1st in longest wait with no COE as to date.
I went last weekend, they told me earliest will get car in April which is abit long for guaranteed COE? They also don't take in my current ride.
Perhaps will go Hup Long or Cartimes ask ask.
SHould be able to get cheaper than this then at some of the smaller insurers because i believe NTUC premium is on the high side?

Gotta beware of the small prints from smaller insurer where there may have many red-tapes when doing the claim. For me, I prefer to go for some established one whom I have experience & trust.
Another thing to look at is the "Excess". Meaning below certain amount of repair you have to bear & anything above that amount then the insurrance company will pay. The lower the premium, the higher will be that amount.
Example if your claim is $1,200 & your "Excess" is $1,000, then you still gotta pay $1k while your insurance company will pay $200. Lkewise if your claim is below $1k, then you shall pay everything & the insurance company shall pay none.
Ultimately, good things don really come cheap. We have to ask & clarify whatever doubts & finallyto consider the balance within each of our mind, which is individual.

I have test drive the Vezel S model, the car seems dragging during initial gear and the engineer sound become louder when I try to accerate the speed. Not sure if this normal behavior since Vezel come only with 1.5l engine.
Where to test drive ah bro?

True bro. 21 more bhp may sound tempting especially if you feel that you are paying extra for the COE part only and the car's omv being about 3-4k higher than the non hybrid. However, on paper the FC is 24plus km/l...it is like not too far off from the 20km/l of the non hybrid. Compared to corolla fielder hybrid which is like 33km/l....many are predicting a drop in COE after cny...which both new and resale will see price reduction...but again who knows. If it is so easy to predict the trend of COE just based on car deregistration numbers, everyone huat liao.

Hi guys,

I am pretty keen on the Vezel Hybrid X/Z. Seems like it is priced at $146k plus. For this price, the Mercs A-class A180 (style) is also within this price bracket. Any thoughts? What else should i consider besides the purchase price of the cars? Anyone can tell me the servicing price for the A-class? FYI, i am currently a 2007 Jazz owner...

Hi Andyngps, I have been driving Honda Civic Hybrid, bought from AD, for 8 years now. Personally i think Honda have been making hybrid cars for many years now and the technology is quite stable. But of course there no 100% guarantee there won't be any problems. The main hybrid battery should last for around 10 years and even AD will not guarantee this, at most only 3 years.

Resale value of Hybrid is if not the same, its a bit better than non-hybrid model. Thats why I am still going for the Z-hydrid model. The FC is the main factor for me, and of course the sweet look of the Vezel :)

Merc very different already how to compare? Conti totally different drive has its own issues, people say you need to be willing to pay if u want to drive conti, you pay for the style in a way. Jap is well, a jap car. You drove Jazz you should know.
If you want different since you had a Jazz maybe you should go Merc.

some times its just boils down to luck. I've been driving the civic hybrid and there have been re-calls for that model before, but lucky i was not affected.
thats why i think its good that with this forum, we can share and update each other if such thing happens and what and how to do next. I think experienced and knowledgeable big bro like Niltrams is someone whom id like to get advice from if there is a recall for hybrid-z model.

Hi All,

I just want to share my FC with all here. It has just consumedits very first half of atank of petrol since collecting the Vezel last Sat. I pumped full tank, zeroed the meter and now it shows351km. If I remember correctly, full tank is 40 litres. As such the FC should bearound 17km/l. I have been kind of expecting this because I mostly, 80%, travel on the express way. My min mileage per day is 90km, traveling from eastside of PIE to AYE to Jurong Island. I also did not turn on or off any functions that come with it. Just warm up thecar and start to drive.

btw, I am not the driver (sorry, no driving license yet), my wife is the one who is driving this beauty around. Same story with many bros here. Short listed mazda 3, ...............and eventually love at first sight.

anyone experience using the foam tyre repair kit, the same one that is provided in the Vezel? have watched the video on how to use it but not sure what happens to the tyre after that. anyone can share their knowledge or experience?

My understanding from someone who have used it before is that we will use the 12V pump supplied to inject a chemical provided in the repair kit. The chemical will spread within the tyre and seal any openings present, so assuming there is a nail with hissing sound, it will cover up the gap surrounding the nail to stop air leakage.

Then, you will go to your repair shop and remove the nail and patch the damage. However, I understand with this chemical injected, it will take effort to remove the nail.

Hope my understanding is accurate.

07 January 2015 - 04:54 PMSY70Was really confuse about the idling on/off, coz sometimes it is activated but sometimes not.... Finally managed to figure that out...though not sure if this is correct... Just to share with all vezel owners :
Idling on/off will not be activated if :
1. The idling on/off button is pressed (of course)
2. If you Aircon is set to "lo"
3. If you are in a slope
4. If your seat belt is not worn

Hi, I can still use the function normally and still open or close the side mirrors as and when I deem fit. Don't think it affects usual operation leh. And I didn't modify it myself. When I collected the car it was already that way. Paiseh but I can ask my PI for you. Let you know again.
Thanks Bro
